Anastasia Beckett was so beyond over studying. Honestly, who thought of this? Teach people fun and interesting subjects, then make those subjects exponentially less fun by making them write about a billion essays on the subject? That seemed like a terrible way to learn. That wasn't the way she had learned how to fly or speak English or dance, so why would that be the way that students were expected to learn about magic?

Sighing, she flopped into a seat and began to pull out an essay she'd started on but was nowhere near finishing. She wanted to headbutt a wall. Why was school like this? She was spectacularly not in the mood to study, but she knew to keep her O average, she had to. That was another irritating thing - how much of their grades were based on essays. What if she was a perfectly competent witch but a horrible writer? Not that she was, but that was beside the point. She made a mental note to start an uprising to fix the school system over the summer. After all, it wasn't like she would be doing much that summer other than hanging around their house in France and riding horses.

Glancing around, she saw a girl that didn't seem to be too immersed in a book or homework. As someone who was near homicidal when she was interrupted from a good book or important assignment. Clearing her throat slightly, she smiled at the other girl. While the Gryffindor was certainly extroverted, she wasn't exactly the friendliest person most of the time. However, at that moment, she was bored enough to be somewhat uncharacteristically friendly to this strange girl. For the moment, anyway.

Asteria sat curled up on a chair in the library, looking out the window. It was an annoyingly quiet and peaceful day, so much so that it made her want to do something unexpected to shake it up a bit. How so, she didn't know. The young Ravenclaw hadn't thought of that part of the plan quite yet and it didn't seem like any good ideas were coming to her head anytime soon.

It was frustrating to her how the ideas always seemed to leave just as she became bored. It was sort of the nature of it. Being bored was boring, that was what made it being bored. Still, the young witch couldn't help but wish it was otherwise.

At least she had a window to look out of so she could spy on watch the people passing by. The rains of the winter had mostly stopped so the number of people passing by was pretty large. Besides that, the surroundings were pretty much the same as usual. The grass was green, the sky was blue, the clouds were gray. It was what the young Ravenclaw expected although it would be a bit more exciting if they swapped once in a while, especially on a day like this. There was probably a spell for that but she wasn't sure of exactly what it was. Even if she did know the spell, it would likely be very difficult or even impossible to change the color of the entire sky with it.

Asteria lost her train of thought, snapping back to the present. She sighed and looked around, noticing another girl who seemed to be trying to get her attention. That, or she had a spider on her head or something of that sort. It was most likely the first one because if it was a spider, Asteria doubted that she would be smiling about it. She waved back, trying to be friendly. It was such a boring day that even a normally annoying encounter with a random stranger was a welcome surprise.

The girl waved, which Ana took as something of an invitation to interact. Thank God, Ana was worried she was going to die because of her stupid essay and her stupid thoughts on the very concept of essays. Gathering up her things, she crossed and sat in a plush chair near the other girl. "Hi there," Ana said as she sat and arranged her bag near her feet. The girl looked vaguely familiar, which Ana assumed was from seeing one another in the hall or the library, if that was somewhere the other girl frequented. Ana still didn't know a majority of the first years, seeing as she had been gone when they had started, and quite frankly, didn't much care whether or not she knew them. Hogwarts seemed to churn through students, and she almost didn't see a point to interacting with younger students until they were a second year. Still, this girl had been a lifeline from drowning in a sea of boredom, so she would break her rule for now.

Resting her head on her fist, she began to assess the other girl. She seemed shorter, although Ana couldn't tell since they were both sitting. Seeing as she was hanging out in the library without a book or homework that Ana could see, Ana figured she was a Ravenclaw. Maybe a Hufflepuff. An quick judgement, but even the studious Ana didn't hang out in the library just to be in the library. She liked the library to be sure, but if she didn't have some reason to be there, she vastly preferred the Great Hall or the Gryffindor Common Room as a place to just hang out.
