A Leisurely Encounter
Theseus had not been amoungst hogwarts long. In fact it had only been a few days. Since the sorting ceremony had done it's duty and declared him a member of Ravenclaw. He wasn't entirely suprised by the announcement. There was several houses he could have fit into for various reasonings. Though of all of them. Ravenclaw seemed the most appropriate.
Theseus had spent the majority of his settling in time. Trying to be as transparent as possible. There was a lot of people here. Most of whom he figured the only time he would actively interact with them. Was either an occurence of a study project, or they stepped out of line and Theseus felt inclined to correct their misguided path. Sometimes chance occurrences happened. As well as the train ride had introduced him to a few decent individuals. Considering he had to share an apartment with them. One of whom he noted had also been sorted into his house. Which while he wasn't much of a people person. He couldn't help but enjoy the fact Lilith was at least someone he felt like he could socialize safely with.
Though now he had found his way to the library. Where he began setting out on books related to defense against the dark arts. Theseus was naturally drawn to the study of defensive and if truthful. Offensive magic. As it broadened his arsenal towards what situations he'd be able to handle. What Theseus was unprepared for was how his leisurely study session. Might end up evolving into a social engagement.
Theseus would not describe himself as anti-social. More of selectively social. He struggled with forming connections with other's. As he was slow to trust. Though loyal to nearly a reckless fault upon the point he commited his trust towards an individual. It was one of his few weaknesses when it came to regards of his otherwise sharp and quick witted calculations. At the same time however. Theseus also knew he needed to try to interact with people. It was important to see people as individuals and not anything lesser than such.

A Leisurely Encounter
This was not the first time Carolyn has visited the Library. In that sense, she truly was a proper Ravenclaw. She liked to study in peace and this was a perfect place to do it. Sure it wasn‘t completely quiet but most of the students tried to keep the noise down and the little whispers here and there didn’t bother her too much. Today, she decided to go through some potions books. Generally speaking, Carolyn enjoyed all of her classes to some degree but potions weren’t exactly her forte. She could follow the instructions just fine but the little extra talent simply wasn’t there.
Unfortunately, it was not the best day to go outside and so even the students that didn’t frequent the library apparently decided to show up for once. The young witch wasn’t very happy about that. She wasn’t annoyed by people per se but she wasn’t fond of crowds either. She tended to keep to herself most of the time and while not unfriendly, she was not someone to initiate a conversation unless the circumstances made an opportunity for her. So far, she was only able to make one friend here. Well, it’s your own fault, she reminded herself immediately while picking out some books from the shelf. She already had three at this point and decided it was time to find a table and explore them. The Practical Potioneer, Potion Opuscule and Book of Potions by Zygmunt Budge. There were many more to choose from but Carolyn felt like these would be a good place to start.

As she was approaching one of the tables, she was suddenly hit by a book coming from above. “Ouch.” Carolyn cursed quietly. To be fair, it did hurt but she was mostly surprised. She dropped her books and sidestepped right into a blonde boy who was unfortunate enough to be in her vicinity. Thankfully she was graceful enough to balance herself rather quickly so there was not much of an impact but she felt bad nonetheless. “Sorry,” came a call from the blonde girl who caused the whole chain reaction in the first place. Carolyn waved at her, signaling that she was okay and then finally turned to the boy. “I’m so so sorry. I really did not expect that,” she apologized profusely while bending down to pick up her books. Now that she actually looked at him, he seemed oddly familiar. Ah, I think I seen him in our common room, her brain supplied.

Theseus looked to the girl who stumbled into him. With his standard calm expression. Before glancing to the book trying to reach the one who called it. Gave a gentle shrug of his shoulders and returned to his book. It wasn't for until a short moment later. Before he responded with his calm tone of voice. "It is alright."
Which at the moment it had truly been alright. On another instance Theseus might of been inclined to find the person who cast the summoning charm. Then smack them over the head with his own book. Though he figured that the situation wouldn't be best dealt with by breaking rules. Just because someone wanted s book and was careless to how they acquired it.
Theseus was assuming the fellow Ravenclaw would not be sticking around. He didn't know if she was a social individual. Though he was assuming that her statement was merely just to apologize for running into him. Not try to engage in a conversation with him. Then again Theseus acknowledged he wasn't much good at telling how people were feeling. "You okay?" He added in and glanced to the dark haired girl while she collected the last of her falling books.

OOC: Oh, I see...Sorry, I wasn’t sure because the thread didn’t mention anybody specific. I wrote a short reply but feel free to let Carolyn go if you are waiting for someone else :-)
The blonde girl grimaced and raced down to pick up her book. It doesn’t even look that interesting, Carolyn thought disappointedly but let the senior slip away without any further arguments. She was not fond of conflicts and the girl did apologise after all. There was no reason to bring it up again. Not to mention she was in the middle of talking to her classmate anyway.
“I’m glad to hear that. I promise I don’t usually go around bumping into people.” That much was true. Ballet has made her a pretty graceful creature but even that couldn’t prepare one for getting hit by a book without any warning. “Thank you for asking. I might have a bump in the morning but I’ll be fine,” she answered the boy’s question, not really sure whether he was actually interested or just being polite. “I’m Carolyn by the way…I think I’ve seen you in class,” she admitted finally. Even if they weren’t going to talk longer she had been brought up well enough to introduce herself when meeting someone. Even if it was just an accidental meeting. “Don’t worry, I won’t bother you. I’m just going to quietly read these and hope there won’t be any more flying books colliding with my head,” she smiled gently after being done gathering her potions books. She didn’t want to overstay her welcome.

(OOC: No, you're more than welcome to be in the thread!)
Theseus looher looked to her and tilted his head some. "I do not find your presence bothersome." He expressed calmly. Before he stood and pulled out a chair for her. Before quietly taking a seat once more. While his gesture was his way of welcoming her to stick around. Carolyn seemed quite kind despite her shyness. Which was the best way Theseus could describe it. It was a thing he was not the most capable of. People.
Theseus nodded his head some. "Oh.. My name is Theseus by the way." He added after a moment of time. Feeling a little silly he had nearly forgotten his own mannerisms. They usually were much proper than what he was displaying. He looked to her for a moment and took in her features.a bit more. Before he resolved to return to reading his books until he could at least finish his chapter.
Once his chapter was completed. Theseus relaxed back and waited until she seemed at a good place for a break. "So, what are you reading?" He inquired. While his sea green hues focused upon her. He was a bit curious about the fellow classmate who was thumped by a book.

Carolyn was pleasantly surprised that the boy didn’t seem eager to get rid of her and even went as far as offering her a chair. “Thank you,” she smiled at him, accepting the seat gracefully. He had yet to introduce himself and Carolyn wondered for a moment whether she should ask him but eventually decided against the idea. Perhaps he just wasn’t keen on sharing his name and she should respect that decision. "Oh.. My name is Theseus by the way." Well apparently, she was wrong about that. “Nice to meet you Theseus,” Carolyn replied with a gentle smile.
Now that she thought about it, he was the very first boy she actually talked to since coming to Hogwarts. The young witch wasn’t very good at social interactions in general but the boys were always a little more complicated. This one though, she liked. He appeared to be very calm or at least not very talkative which suited her just fine. She had trouble talking to the immature ones who would tease her relentlessly. She didn’t quite know how to deal with those types. Thankfully, Theseus seemed to have very little in common with such boys, although her first impression might have been wrong. You couldn’t really figure out a person from such a short interaction after all.
After that, they both dove into their respective books, not interrupting one another for a while. Carolyn was surprised how easy it was. Most of the time when meeting someone new, the conversation would start flowing, preventing her from doing any reading whatsoever. Theseus didn’t look to be interested in that however. It was pretty unique and while she was curious about him, she also found it to be quite charming personality trait. It wasn’t until she was done with the first chapter that he started talking again at which point it was a welcome distraction. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, only for it to flop again. When will I ever remember to bring a hair band? “I’m reading the Book of Potions by Zygmunt Budge. I feel like I’m not that great when it comes to potion making so I decided to make some extra effort in my spare time.” It didn’t feel good, admitting her shortcomings but she didn’t like pretending to be perfect either. Nobody really was. “What are you reading?” Carolyn asked in return. It looked like he was quite taken by the book so she was curious about the title.

Theseus listened to her while she went on to explain what she was reading.
Theseus found it admirable that she wished to delve further into a subject she felt she struggled in. Admittedly that was not what he was currently doing. Though it would be something he would consider investing in more time to completing. While he had a clearer idea where his struggles were. Right now everything seemed pretty well rounded. There was just some subjects which intrigued him more than other's.
Theseus was about to return to his book. When Carolyn decided to ask his question in return to him. He glanced to the book he had. Then back to Carolyn. "Defense Against The Dark Arts by Aresenius Jigger." He responded in a calm voice. Before giving a gentle smile. Then returning back to the context within the pages.
Theseus was about as good as conversing as he was reading people. Which wasn't very good. The texts within his book was a safety net in a sense. Where he could zone in. Forget a bit about what was going on around him. Then hope he was a ghost to some extent. As more times than not when he was drawn to interacting with other's. It was not always for the most social of reasonings.
Carolyn however did have his interest. While she did not meet him in the most graceful of manners. She didn't collide into him on purpose, and Theseus found her presence quite enjoyable. As she was similar to some extent. Though he wasn't sure how far their similarities stretched and what differences they had.. And he wasn't entirely sure the best way to approach learning about her. Without becoming a bother.

It took a moment for Theseus to answer her question and Carolyn started to wonder whether it was a good idea to ask him in the first place. Then again, he was the one to initiate the conversation this time, not her. "Defense Against The Dark Arts by Aresenius Jigger." The boy replied eventually even smiling a little. “Ah, I see… Defense Against The Dark Arts is definitely one of my favorite classes. Maybe I’ll read that one too. Tell me if it’s any good when you’re done?” She asked hopefully. She would not force him of course but feedback for books was always appreciated.
After that, she let Theseus get back to his book and mirrored the action herself. Carolyn felt like she was starting to understand her classmate a bit better. He didn’t seem bothered by her but he wasn’t eager for endless chatter either. Whether it was because he was clumsy with new relationships (as she was) or simply preferred to get acquainted at a slower pace remained unclear but Carolyn didn’t mind either way. In fact, it suited her quite well. She didn’t feel pressured and she got time to do some work as well.
Some time has passed and the young witch felt herself getting distracted. She could read for hours but breaks were still necessary unless she was reading something particularly interesting. Her chocolate eyes followed her study neighbor waiting until he seemed a little bit less focused as well. “So…how do you like being part of Ravenclaw house? Did you expect to be sorted into it? If you don’t mind me asking of course,” she said politely. It was a dumb question but honestly? She didn’t know where else to start and she was kind of curious. Ravenclaw girls were mostly nice with an exception of a couple insufferable now-it-alls who were apparently superior and couldn’t be bothered to listen to…well…anybody really, but sometimes Carolyn wondered what it was like in the boys’ dorm. Her muggle school had only couple of smart boys that really appreciated learning and they were usually made outcast by all the other boys. As if thirst for knowledge was something to be ashamed for. Would it be the same here? Or were they all so similar that it actually worked? This however, was far more specific question and she didn’t dare to ask. Theseus and she just met, he might think her weird if she asked such thing.
