Serena walked into the library. It was a rainy day outside, which honestly, reflected the badger’s mood. After surviving two fires and mosps attacking the Secret Blossom Ball, Serena was starting to feel like a shell of the bubbly, over-excited girl who arrived at Hogwarts on September 1st. Not to mention the loneliness that was growing as the end of the school year grew closer.

What Serena needed was to bury herself in a book. To read about a far-off place and adventure from the safety of the library’s many shelves. Where nothing could get to her. So, the first-year turned right, making her way to the fiction section. After strolling through the shelves for a while, occasionally pulling a book off to briefly read the description only to put it back, Serena looked up to find a hardcover book. All she could see was the spine, which was dark blue with silver cursive letters reading The Little White Horse. The first-year wondered what the book could be about and reached up to pull it down and read the description. However, the petite girl couldn’t reach the shelf, not even while standing on her toes. It was at times like this that she cursed her short stature of 4’11” and couldn’t wait until she finally had her growth spurt.

Serena looked around to see if there was a ladder that could help her reach the book. And she did find one. Only there was a boy currently using it who looked like he wasn’t going to come down anytime soon. With a sigh, the twelve-year-old turned her attention back to the book. Well, it looked like she was just going to have to figure out another way to get to it. So Serena started jumping up and down, hoping that maybe the extra height would work. And after a few tries, she did manage to wrap her pale fingers around the black book.

But before Serena could celebrate, something went wrong, because, of course, it did. Somehow instead of just the one book, several hardcover books came toppling down the shelf. The first-year gasped as they all came raining down on top of her head, quickly burying her.

“Ow…” Serena groaned out. Now her head hurt, and even worse, she had lost hold of the book she was trying to grab in the first place. Hopefully, no-one had seen what had happened. Now that would be embarrassing…

Ana hadn't always been someone who liked the rain. She vastly preferred snow or just a clear day to the wetness. It was decent reading weather, but for the most part, it was depressing and meant that walking outside was a risk for her school books. However, since the Blossom Ball, Ana was a bit more fond of the rain. It was calming and somehow seemed more peaceful than dreary. Peace was something she had far too little of since that April night. Between her interrupted sleep and her packed schedule, the Gryffindor hardly had a minute to stop and think most days. Mostly because thinking brought her back to the ball, which was not somewhere she wanted to dwell upon.

As she sat in the library finishing an extra credit charms essay, she felt calm for the first time in weeks. Maybe calm wasn't the exact right word for it, but for that moment, all the things that were constantly bearing down on her felt somehow less urgent and crucial. Her good mood was possibly due to the fact that she was just too tired to feel stressed anymore, but whatever the cause was, she would happily accept a few minutes of peace.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a thud. She glanced over and saw a girl jumping up and down. What on Earth was she doing? Ana tilted her head slightly as she tried to descern what was going on. She figured it out when the girl grabbed a book. What a terrible way to do that! There were ladders in the library that could be used for the task, or if she knew Wingardium Leviosa and made sure there weren't any prefects or libarians watching, she could have used that. Her chosen method seemed as though it would result in books raining down on her. As if Anastasia's thoughts had summoned then, a wave of books rained down on the girl. Ana considered just ignoring it for a moment, then decided against it, since the girl had a youngness about her that was surprisingly seldom in the school.

Standing and abandoning her nearly finished essay and bookbag at her table, she walked over to the girl that had been so rudely attacked by the books. If nothing else, Ana imagined she would have a serious headache form the books crashing into it. "I saw that," Ana said quietly with a small smile. "I don't imagine that was on purpose. Are you alright?"

Serena was rubbing her head, hoping that she wouldn’t be eternally banned from the library, when she heard a girl’s voice.

“Oh, um, hi. No, I wasn’t expecting that to happen.” Serena responded. “I’m alright though! My head hurts a little, but it’s not that bad. I think I’ll live.” She said. 'I’ve certainly lived through worse…’ Serena added in her head.

Oh, she should probably introduce herself. The Hufflepuff tried to shift herself into an upright position, several books falling off of her body. “I’m Serena Bowen, by the way.” Serena added, giving a small wave.

Serena then sighed. “What do you think are the odds of the librarian banning me?” She asked. She was mostly joking, but she was slightly worried about it. Surely, they couldn’t actually ban a student. The library was sometimes needed to complete schoolwork, and it wouldn’t be fair to not have access to it. Still, Serena should probably clean this up before anyone else saw the mess.

So, she began to try and stand up. It was surprisingly more complicated than she thought. Serena had almost wormed her way out of the pile when she slipped and fell into the heap again.

“Today is just not my day…” She said with a sigh. Serena turned to the girl. “Uh, would you mind helping me out here?” Serena asked, hoping that this girl was nice.

Ana cocked her head slightly at the girl's reply. She had gathered that much. Off the top of her head, she couldn't think of anyone who would do something like that on purpose. After all, something like that wasn't just painful and messy, but rather embarrassing in Ana's opinion. She nodded slightly when the girl introduced herself. "I'm Anastasia," she said, not particularly feeling the need to fully introduce herself.

She grinned amusedly when the girl expressed concern that she was going to be banned. "I mean, they haven't banned me yet, so I'd say you're probably safe," Ana told the girl as she took a few steps closer to the Hufflepuff and her pile of books. Granted, the majority of Ana's exploits hadn't taken place in the library, but if there was anyone that ought to be banned from the library, it was the fire loving Gryffindor. Of course, she loved reading and learning far too much to ever purposefully damage a book, but given her history of misaimed Incedios, that wasn't particularly reassuring.

The poor thing slipped in the mess of books again, and Ana let out a soft laugh. The girl seemed alright enough, certainly less irritating than others Ana had met. "No, I don't think it is," Ana said, bending as she began to gather some of the books at the edge of the mountain. "I must say, this is a rather spectacular mess for something that was an accident."
