@Keiran Santiago
Mars' footsteps echoed through the halls made by the bookshelves. They skimmed the rows of books, looking for nothing. They were bored, in all honesty, just looking for some kind of adventure.
Not that they'd find it in the library. They weren't entirely sure what they were doing here in the first place. It'd just seemed like the best place to go after a long day of studying. Replacing books with books, ha. How much more Ravenclaw could they get.
Maybe they were just looking for somewhere to escape too, be it into the pages of a book or into the darkness of the back shelves. They wished that the Ravenclaw dorm rooms weren't so packed with people. It would have been nice to sit alone on the roof of the Castillion manor, earbuds in, chewing on a lollipop, even if they had to deal with Estella's stupid demands. What they wouldn't give to just disappear sometimes.
Well, it seemed that this would probably be as good as it'd get. There were hardly any wixes in the dark stacks of the library, just cool and dark and ornate gold and brown wood carved into various shapes. The high windows still let in some light, but it was musky, a yellow color, distorted by the specks of dust in the air.
Mars sighed. They couldn't tell if it was homesickness anymore, this feeling of not belonging. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Taking a few more steps, Mars stopped paying attention to where they were going. There was no one back here anyway; all the others in the brightness of the center of the library, chatting away to their friends, complaining about homework. There was no one to stumble over, no one to run in—They grunted, hitting the back of a student in red robes.
Mars let out a sigh.

Today she had recieved a letter from her grandmother
Dear Kieran,
You should pick your sorry ass up and get your life back together so you can grow up and have many children and grandchildren and you can drive them to school in your pink leopard print convertible and make fun of them and hit on hot youngsters and be annoying.
...or something like that
her grandma truly was an intellectual.
"I'm kinda hungry" She mumbled as she walked into the giant library, "It smells nice in here"
A lot of people hung out at the library, though the only reason she was here was to learn more about tripod fishes. Did magic people write books about muggle animals? She hadn't thought about it. She tied her grey hair in a tight ponytail and rolled up the sleeves of her robe. She put her hand on her hips as her eyes took in the entire library. "I wonder if they have a sorting system like a muggle library." She said to herself.
Suddenly she felt someone walk into her.
"OoF"
She turned around and saw a ravenclaw sighing.
"Hey you ok there buddy?" She said out of habit. She bit her lip as it dawned on her about how stupid it sounded. For the sake of all things holy, pls help me.

"Hey, you okay there buddy?"
Well, wasn't that quite the muggle thing to say. Instantly, Mars felt a smirk rise to their lips. It'd been forever since they'd heard another human being utter something like that, being surrounding with wixes 24-7. There were far too many people around here that acted like Estella's tittering friends. This one was a good change of pace, in their opinion.
They sat back on their heels, taking in the witch. She had long gray hair, a bit tangled even, pulled up into a ponytail, and the sleeves of her robe were rolled up. Well, someone had important business to attend to. She looked almost ready to go plant some trees and save the Earth. Mars grinned at her, tongue caught between sharp teeth.
"I'm not dead, at least," they answered. The tall walls of the library loomed above them. The books left a musty smell in the air. They caught the run of a streak of sunlight as it illuminated the dust particles in the air. They eyed the witch again.
"Whatcha doing so far back here? I thought these areas were only for the wixes who like to mope around or—" they didn't finish that thought. This Gryffindor didn't need to know how their brain worked.
Mars ran a hand along the shelves of books, feeling the spines wave up and down under their fingertips. They mused—it felt like they were forgetting something... oh yes.
"I'm Mars, by the way. They/them. You are?"

Strangley they didn't finish the thought. Keiran wondered what they were going to say, and wixes? What were those? It seemed as if everyone here had a knowledge she didn't know of. Was there a starter training camp she missed? She bit her lip.
"I'm Mars, by the way. They/them. You are?"
"Oh, um I'm-" She stopped, shoot, what was her name again? Her lack of contact towards humans caused her to struggle in conversations. "-I'm Keiran, She/Her." She finished. She fidgeted awkwardly and stuffed her hands in one of the many pockets she'd secretly sewn onto her skirt. You could never have too many pockets. She felt around for her lucky charm. She found one of those Cutie Oranges instead. Out of a useless habit, she took the sticker off the orange and stuck it onto her cheek, realized what she was doing, and apologized. "Oops, my bad, that was weird" She shifted and eyed Mars. "I'm sorry if I assumed wrong but you seem Korean? Are you Native?". Whether or not she was korean, it would be nice having someone who knew another language (especially korean) like her. Mars had black hair, like most asians (not trying to stereotype) and from what Keiran could tell, brown eyes, though her eyesight wasn't working today. Stupid Eyesight. Come to think of it, almost everything seemed brown today. Maybe it was because of her chocolate withdrawals. She forgot who thought it was a good idea to withdraw her from chocolate. Boy, she could eat a book...wait no, she was in a library that wasn't a safe thought.

Keiran looked back at them strangely, as if she was lost.
"Oh, um I'm-" she faltered, as if thinking for a moment. Then, with a glimmer of remembrance in her eyes, she continued on, "-I'm Keiran, She/Her." At that, she dropped her hands to her skirt, fiddling around with the material for a moment.
Mars had noticed it before when taking the witch in. It was oddly bulky, but not in an uncomfortable way. Just like—it was carrying extra weight or something. That question was answered in the next second. Through her fidgeting, Keiran pulled out an—orange. Okay. Didn't know witches hid oranges in their skirts.
As the Gryffindor stuck it into her cheek, Mars' stomach let out a faint growl. They grimaced. Right, food was a necessary substance. They'd forgone breakfast again and then had gotten so swept up in homework and feeling sorry for themselves that they'd forgotten lunch. Keiran's words startled them out of their thoughts.
"Oops, my bad, that was weird."
Mars kind of stared at her, amusement held back by their eyes. It—was, but not a bad kind of weird. Though the librarian probably wouldn't appreciate her eating in the library. Their stomach rolled again. F*ck it, no one would find them anyway.
"Eh, I think it's alright. Just don't leave the peels lying around, I bet they have a tracker spell or something that could trace them back to you," they told Keiran, leaning back on one of the bookshelves. They eyed the orange in her hands. "In fact, you don't happen to have another one of those hidden in the pocket dimension of your skirt, would you? I'm starving."
Keiran responded first by asking, "I'm sorry if I assumed wrong but you seem Korean? Are you Native?" Ah, so that's why she'd been scanning Mars like they were a threat to society. They laughed at her, eyes crinkling.
"Nah, I'm not Korean. Chinese though, so fairly close. You?"
They pushed themselves off the shelf, going around the Gryffindor to peer up at a book they had noticed behind her. It was fairly thick, a bit brighter than those around it in color. That was probably why it had stood out to them. They pulled it down.
"Snakes and Spiders: A Guide to the Unwanteds."
They smiled. Well, wasn't it their lucky day? They'd actually found something of interest in this godforsaken library. They gestured at Keiran with the book, head tilting to the side.
"You read?"
