With the Blossom Ball coming up, Willow was trying desperately to catch up on homework. Between the common room fire and now with this she barely had time to focus on classwork. Which was something she didn't like to get behind on. She hadn't been to her favorite place inside the walls of Hogwarts in awhile, she had been spending most of her time outside lately. Begrudgingly she packed her bags stuffed with books, parchment, quills, and ink and made her way down. She had almost forgotten, but she made sure to stuff her robe pocket with friendship bracelets. You never knew when you could make a new friend~
Her ponytail swayed back and forth as she bounced down. A familiar strain on her shoulder came from the heavy bouncing of books that came with her walk pattern, but it was a pain she was used to and pushed out of her thoughts. As she entered the library the familiar smell of old worn pages filled with a thousand tales welcomed her. The pale sun rays filtering in through the windows pulling her in. She forgot how much comfort the Hogwarts library could provide. She walked around looking for either some of her friends, an empty table, or someone to join. None of the tables were open, she assumed from people cramming for the same reason she was.
Eventually her eyes settled on a particularly studious Slytherin. He had a deep inset frown and a look of concentration that was unmatched. This was her study buddy for the day, she had decided. She approached the table and sat down as she introduced herself to the boy without waiting for an invitation. What would he do? Say no? Impossible, she was a lovely ray of sunshine to be around and her presence would only help his studying. "Hi there! I'm Willow. Do you want a friendship bracelet, I make them myself. I think I have one that's Slytherin colors if you want to match your robes." She pulled out her transfiguration homework since that was her worst subject before pulling out the lump of friendship bracelets. "What are you studying?" With a look of concentration of her own, she spotted the bracelet and pulled it out, laying it to the side if he wanted to take it.

If there was anything Dmitri Kazimir Jones was particular on, it was homework--and doing the absolute best in each and every one of them. These days when the workload was particularly heavy nearing the end of the term, one would be able to see Dmitri in the library almost at all times outside of class. It was either there, or the study rooms.
Today was a relatively quiet one, as most students were either in classes having lessons or outside enjoying the last rays of sunshine for the day. The library was still full, but it was mostly just Ravenclaws--and those people weren't particularly rowdy. Or interesting, for that matter. Not many of the loud children visited the library these days as those with particularly large mouths have been temporarily banned from this part of the school--most of them with the Slytherin boy's intervention. Especially recently, when rumors of a secret blossom ball some students organized on a whim were spreading throughout the school. Why, just a few minutes ago, one particular pack of idiot first years was sternly asked to leave for their incessant, irritating giggling over their crushes asking them out to the secret ball.
Serves them right.
Frustrations aside, it was already turning out to be such a nice study session. The afternoon sun was filtering in from the glass windows interspersed uniformly throughout the ginormous room of books and knowledge. The library was silent, he was productive, and there was a particularly challenging question in one of his homework that Dmitri was excited to dive into and nail. It was on one of these particularly difficult questions when his momentum and concentration was broken by an unwelcome visitor deciding to plop themselves right across from him on the table full of books and parchment.
Gritting his teeth, Dmitri looked up from his half-finished work and shot a tight-lipped, almost predatory smile at the girl in front of him. The glint in his eyes was cold and tinged with quite a bit of annoyance that ever so slowly grew the moment the girl started opening her mouth.
Dmitri interrupted her tirade mid-sentence in a sickly-sweet voice. "Are you lost, little one?"
Leaning slightly forward, his voice would harden to a sharp, pointed tone. "Because if I remembered correctly, we are in a library, not a sidewalk in Muggle London." Gesturing towards his abandoned work (which was starting to frustrate him, considering it was one of the more difficult ones), and the parchment scattered around his table, Dmitri continued. "What makes you think, even for a second, I have the patience to deal with a child peddling... muggle trinkets as if it were some sunny Saturday afternoon at King's Cross?" At this, he'd turn a disgusted glare at the decorative string the girl held in her hands.
Rolling his eyes, he'd slump back down and stare grumpily at his paper. "I suggest you go annoy another person and not me, because I'm not having any of this." Dmitri grumbled before attempting to pick his quill back up.

With this tactic of approaching new friends, this wasn't an abnormal response. To her it was just a show of people not having good friends around them, a call for help really. Willow was ready to provide. Though the first question already threw her off, especially since he had taken it upon his rude self just to interrupt her. Lost? Little one? She was twelve, not five. Her nose scrunched up in a reaction to the rudeness from the boy. "I think I'm exactly where I need to be, thank you very much."
As the boy kept talking Willow started to get to work on her transfiguration homework, quill pleasantly scratching against parchment as she made her header. His voice sounded cruel and mean, it was nothing she hadn't heard before. Just tone of voice wasn't enough to make Willow break. He'd have to try harder. Although, he seemed to just gun for the comment that would hurt her most.
He called her friendship bracelets of love, muggle trinkets.
As if they were cheap, worthless. As if he had a disdain for muggles in the first place, and well that she just couldn't stand. Despite the fact that she was indeed sitting. Her head snapped up from her work and her eyes narrowed. "Not having any of what? A face much friendlier than yours trying to get homework done and offering friendship in exchange for a place at this table? And I'm not a child, I'm twelve. Besides, I'm only annoying if you believe so. A lot of people would consider me a delight. So really, you're welcome for me being here." Her gaze returned back to her work as he tried to burn holes through his parchment with his gaze. "I've already set up here, and most of the tables are taken so I think I'll just stay here. Maybe a little sunshine from me will help melt that cold attitude of yours." Her hand put the bracelets back in her pocket, making sure to leave the Slytherin colored one out.

From a logical standpoint, things would have turned out quite well had the newcomer just left Dmitri to his own devices (stewing over his particularly difficult homework) and found an alternative table to disturb. Hell, things might have even turned out fine if the badger girl just shut her trap and sat herself down at his table however she pleases--Dmitri would have not minded the company much further, frankly. She was there with schoolwork in mind, too, and that was a respectable course of action if the Slytherin were to be asked. The boy had a resigned attitude to him when he requested the girl to just leave him be--he was totally up to forgiving the girl's intrusion (a thing Dmitri takes as the highest offense especially when he was studying) and forgetting the infraction, too, at that.
But no.
The girl had the audacity to talk back.
Dmitri slammed his book shut with a dull thud, shooting the girl a venomous glare that would have melted steel. Feeling a tick forming on his forehead, the Slytherin boy enunciated. "What makes you think that someone sitting peacefully in the library surrounded by this much crap," at this he'd gesture wildly at the stack of books and random pieces of parchment littering the table he was in, "wanted a random child to come up to them, rudely interrupt them, and insult them when asked to leave?!" This was all done through gritted teeth in a barely held-back manner as the older student did not want to be scolded and banned from the area for breaking the Silence rule.
Maybe it was just the frustration talking--he was having a really hard time getting through his schoolwork these days. Dmitri was rather increasingly anxious and jittery for no apparent reason. It didn't help that he was stumped by this godforsaken homework one of his professors gave them. But whatever it was, the girl deserved it for messing with his concentration during this troubling time.
"What I want you to do is remove your possessions from my presence--especially that godawful trinket, get your arse off that chair, and leave!" Being an overreaction as it was, Dmitri was truly annoyed. This was the kind of child he went out of his way to avoid--it was why he was in the library. Sniveling, snot-nosed, annoying children like this one shouldn't even have been allowed inside this room!

She just wanted to study. That's all she wanted. Well, that and make a friend in the process but this boy wasn't letting her. He seemed to protest it at every single step. It was just... a bracelet. She was just a Hufflepuff trying to do her transfiguration homework. Really, this guy was the problem.
Then he did something even worse than just be a jerk, he slammed his book closed. The loud noise startled Willow, making her instinctively grab her wand. The common room explosion had completely messed up her reaction, it used to not bother her until that lovely destructive night. Slowly, she put it back away. She wasn't in any immediate danger. Nothing was on fire. Her face hadn't been slammed into a wall. Everything was fine. Well, except for the rude boy sitting in front of her.
Her hands rubbed her face in exasperation, if he just calmed down and got back to his work they wouldn't be whisper yelling at each other. "Would you just get over yourself. You're not unique in your pile of work, I also have stuff to do. I just haven't pulled it out because I didn't want to take up too much space." She kept trying to go back to her work, but he just wouldn't stop talking. For someone that wanted to get work done he really wouldn't let this go.
"Oh. My. God. And. Goddess. Would you just shut up? I'm here. I'm already sitting here. I already have my homework out." Her hand whipped out and put the bracelet away, speaking to him condescendingly. "There. Is that better? Was a tiny little bracelet disturbing you so much? Goodness, no wonder you have a problem studying if something like that can throw you off. Next time just study in your dorm or something if you don't want to be bothered." With a deep huff, and her concentration trying to return back to writing she continued to speak. "I'm not leaving. I'm trying to do my homework like you are. But you won't shut your d-damn mouth!" She had never sworn before, and stuttered out the word. It completely halted the appearance of her faux confidence trying to ride through this. If she could punt the boy out of the library, she absolutely would. But being 129cm herself, she wasn't exactly a threat.

Every single thing that came out of the disrespectful, irrational, annoying... fricking psychotic little girl's mouth was utter bullcrap. Nobody in their right mind would enter the library--the library for frick's sake--look at the people studying, and think for one godsdamned second that any of them came to a place of study and quiet, expecting to be disturbed by a naive little wench's idea of social networking.
Dmitri said just as much when he slammed his closed book down on the wooden table, his existing glare developing a deadlier, more poisonous glint to it as it was aimed at the said girl. Through heavily-clenched teeth, the boy enunciated cuttingly. "You know why, out of this whole godsdamned, huge ass fricking castle, I chose this damned library out of all places to study?!" With how heated the boy was getting--no end to his rage in sight--it was a miracle none of the house-elves who run the library has gotten on his case yet. "Because it was supposed. To. Be. Fricking. QUIET." It was comical how angry the boy looked right then, irrational rage filling his eyes with an almost-crazed tinge, bordering on dangerous. Putting his two palms on the table, he slowly rose from his seat, homework long since forgotten. It was just the utter disrespect and the disregard for his private space that irked him so fricking much--add that to the burden of having an indecipherable question on a piece of schoolwork and you have a nearly-hysterical Slytherin boy.
What he was saying, though strongly worded, was all true. It put him in such a mood having this dumbass girl traipsing onto his table disturbing the hell out of his frustrating homework session and having the fricking nerve to insult him of all people for not wanting to be interrupted! IN A LIBRARY! He shouldn't have expected much from a student of one of the dumbest populations of the entire school, but he naively thought everyone with half a mind knew a library was a place of peace and quiet!
"You absolutely have no right to come in here, insert yourself so rudely into my table, and disrespect me for wanting you to leave me alone!" At this point, Dmitri was leaning precariously forward onto the table, shooting the most heated of glares he could manage at the Hufflepuff. "You didn't even ask if I fricking wanted company! Sure, have your homework, do everything you want to do! Just don't do it where you're not wanted nor appreciated!" He buried a hand into his hair and pulled.
"Leave me. The hell. Alone!"
On this last phrase, though, Dmitri forgot where he was for a second.
It was all jammed into an explosive frustrated yell.
The first thing he would notice was the sudden silence in the room. Where there was an idle buzzing of quiet chattering coming from all of the study tables dotting the area, there was now an eerie, awkward silence. It was stark, almost audible in its distinctiveness.
Dmitri wanted to sink into the ground.
His face paled as from over the girl's shoulder, one of the house-elves manning the library was shaking their head, disappointed beyond belief. He watched--heart stopping--as the small creature raised a hand and pointed towards the door, in a clear gesture of: You are banned from this library. Get out.
Dmitri's fearful mood didn't last long, though, as one look at the girl across him--the girl who intruded in his supposed peaceful session in the library, the girl who insulted him unjustly, and now, the girl who got him banned from the one and only place he can be left alone to study--awakened this raw anger inside of him.
Taking out his wand, the Slytherin flourished it and pointed it straight at the girl's face. He didn't even skip a beat, only muttered a "fuck it, I'm in trouble anyway", in a scalding tone, before letting loose a perfectly-pronounced "Slugulus Eructo!".
He didn't even care anymore. It was uncharacteristic of him to be this reckless and impulsive, but he wasn't in the mood to even give a damn.
His library was already taken from him. What was detention compared to this?
Dmitri watched as his spell erupted from his Chestnut wand.

This guy had a shorter temper than she did, and that was something to be impressed by. Her hands dragged down her face exaggerating her own frustration with him. As a Hufflepuff, it was her natural born instinct to make friends, and be friendly, but this guy was making it really hard.
She jumped again with another slam of a book, her heart rate spiked once more and her hand fully grasped her wand once again. Slowly sliding it back as she saw that nothing had exploded, or been set on fire. This Hufflepuff fire event really made her feel as if full comfort in any situation was now completely unreachable, if just a small loud noise like books slamming sent her into high alert mode. Her hand returned to pick up her quill. "Once again, I have to point out that it would be quiet if you weren't the one continuing to yell. This is a fight of one. I'm literally trying to be quiet and do work but here you are, being an absolutely drama queen. So take a chill pill and just go back to doing your work like I'm trying to do." She refused to make eye contact with him. Maybe out of fear of him destroying her just through eye contact, maybe just because her eyes were glued to the same sentence she had tried reading ten times over.
When he spoke up again, she finally looked to meet his eyes. Hatred, anger, annoyance, all filled into one young boy's eyes. Tears began to prick up at just how much she was unwanted. It was a familiar feeling for her. Maybe she had pushed him too far, but she would never admit that to him. The urge to belong somewhere, anywhere, to be one that makes friends with everyone easily. People had this impression that she was that girl, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. It was situations like this that made her fearful of meeting new people, taking chances on new people. She slowly started to pack up her things. Until he let out the loudest yell for her to leave. She flinched back as if he had physically hit her.
An older Slytherin boy yelling at a small Hufflepuff girl. What a sight to behold in the library. It was obviously a sight people were watching with the silence that fell over the room. Willow couldn't move. It was as if time had stopped around her. Her hands paused over packing up a book.
His wand was out.
Immediately she stood up, her hand fumbling for the wand that had come into her hand so many times in this conversation seemed to be out of reach as he said his incantation. "S-Slugulus what?" She had never heard of the spell before, but it didn't sound like a fun time. Obviously he wouldn't give her a pleasant spell.
Her stomach started to turn as the spell made contact with her. Explosive, full of angry energy. Her hands braced herself on the table as she felt something stir in side of her. Willow's skin paled in sickness as the first wave of slugs erupted from her throat. The gross, slimy, mucus-y feeling of the creatures wiggling up her throat was one that she would never forget. A taste that she would never want to experience again. The Slytherin boy clearly didn't think through the spell all that well as now all the slugs were all over the table, including the homework he held so dear to him.
A glare of her own looked up to lock eyes with him. "What did you-" No sentence would be finished by Willow for awhile. As wave after wave of slugs were expelled from her body. They learned these kinds of spells at Hogwarts? She was terrified for that lesson to come up someday.
The slugs were clogging up her throat, making her gasp for air. She couldn't breathe. She dropped to her hands and knees on the ground. Unable to move anywhere with the never ending waves of slugs. For someone that enjoyed all creatures, she'd never be able to look at a slug the same way ever again. It was obvious how furious the boy was by the power of the spell that resided in her for the moment.
Her vision grew spotty, her head grew dizzy from the inability to breathe. Eventually, she just collapsed. In a pile of gross, slimy, disgusting, slugs. All she wanted to do was study and make a new friend, and this was the payment she got for it.
