Anastasia let out a sigh. She had been back at school for literally three days and was already buried in homework. It didn't help that she didn't know half of the professors, or that most of them wanted some kind of proof she hadn't fallen behind. Oddly enough, they wouldn't take a twelve-year-old at her word that she was in fact ahead of her classmates in most subjects thanks to her tutor for the past year. Her parents had said that they and the tutor had written the headmaster about that, but nobody seemed to have heard anything about it from him. Ana made a mental note to go see him when she had a spare moment.
Fiddling with her long thick hair, she tried to force herself to focus and finish the stupid assignment. It would hardly do to come back and fail everything. Her parents would never let her hear the end of it. Squinting at the paper, she knew that she knew the answer to the question, she just didn't feel like actually writing it out in "a foot of parchment or more".
She let out another huff and scanned the library. The other person at her table seemed to be similarly frustrated. "Psst," she whispered, abandoning her essay for the moment. "What are you working on?" As she said that and actually looked at the boy there, she had the strangest sense of deja vu. She couldn't imagine why though. WAIT. What if she was a Seer? And she had dreamed about this and foreseen it, but not totally consciously? How awesome would that be? Ana didn't much like the idea of a Divination class, but maybe she would need it. Being able to see the future could certainly be useful academically. And it would help her outthink Aurelia. This would be amazing!

@Anastasia Beckett
Abilities Active: Calming Presence, Lovely CreatureDale again found himself in the library, it used to be one of his favorite places to hang out in, but the charm was slowly lost on him. He used to rummage through the books for hours just for a book that he would finish in a day. But he felt he had read most of the interesting looking book the shelves had to offer. During his first year, he spent a lot of time studying and trying to keep up with his peers, but after a summer of self-studying, and a lot of practice he had become pretty competent in charms, and the rest of the classes were easy game for him, so there wasn't really any reason for him to study anymore.
But he still came to the library every now and then, he had an astronomy essay to write, easy enough, just boring. He preferred to do his work in the dorms or better yet outside. But his dorm mates were being pretty annoying today, and it looked like it was gonna rain. So he was trapped inside for a little bit. Dale looked around the library for a place to sit. He found one next to a person who looked oddly familiar. He walked over a took a seat next to her, he pulled out an astronomy book and a roll of parchment, he didn't like writing on parchment, but the last time he didn't he got in a little trouble for it. He opened the book and started writing on the parchment before he could get too concentrated, he heard a very familiar voice "What are you working on" He jumped a little in his chair, he turned to face the girl. He could not believe his eyes, It was Anastasia! Dale first met her in his first year, but after they met he never saw her again. He always wondered where she had gone. "Anastasia? Is that you? It's me, Dale, we met like... a year ago." He sorta doubted she remembered him, but there was still a small hope.

At the boy's words, a vague memory popped into the girl's head. A very similar encounter between a younger Ana and Dale. That was a pity though. It would have been pretty awesome to be able to see the future. She supposed that she would just have to figure out another way to destroy Aurelia. No matter, back to the moment at hand. She was rather impressed that Dale remembered her, seeing as their encounter had fallen to the back of her mind until just now. She remembered thinking that he was rather handsome and possibly a friend, but that was about it.
"It is, the one and only," Anastasia replied brightly, smiling and tossing her hair slightly. That wasn't exactly factual, but she was the only living Anastasia Beckett, and she would love to see the dusty old corpses of the other Anastasias come and make her say otherwise. Resting her head lightly on her hand, she met his eyes. "So, we did! What have you been up to since then?"
She said the second part as though she had been here the whole time and just hadn't run into him, finding the irony a little humourous. She was sure she could guess fairly easily what he had been doing since then, while she had done practically everything other than school. Personally, she would have rather been at school, but she was back now and there wasn't anything much she could do to change the past. Well, she was sure there was some sort of magic that she could use to go back, but it would likely be far more trouble than it was worth and she was just glad to be back.
Glancing at his parchment, she noted that he was working on an Astronomy essay and suddenly recollected that she had been working on an Astronomy assignment when they'd met a year ago. Mentally, she smacked herself. Honestly, who remembers that and not any of the rest of their meeting. Spectacularly useful thing to remember, Ana thought to herself.

@Anastasia BeckettDale was glad he wasn't wrong, I'd be awkward if this was just some random girl. And on top of that Anastasia seemed to remember him, even though he hadn't really gotten to finish their last conversation. "I've been good, its been kinda boring, not much to do." Dale said as he ran a hand through his messy brown hair. Dale happy to have a conversation partner, he hadn't talked to anyone a pretty long time. Not even his two best friends. "So where have you been, I haven't seen you at all this or year." Dale felt really relaxed around Ana, like to an old friend, but in reality, this was their second even seeing each other.
Dale looked over to Ana, the last time they talked he was a little scared to look her in the eyes, his heart always skipped a beat. He thought that now that he was a little less awkward that wouldn't happen. Sadly somethings never change, and Dale averted his eyes, looking around the library trying to play it off. He sighed, even was able to get rid of his nervousness, some people just intimidated him a bit too much... not very fun.

@Dale Kurt"Honestly, where haven't I been?" Ana chuckled. She was strangely comfortable around this boy, despite the fact that they had met once a year ago. She supposed it was probably just because she was so happy to be back at Hogwarts. "I was all over Africa, and then we went to India, then China, then Russia, then Brazil. And then on our way home, we went to Spain, France, Italy, and Poland," she said in a breath. "Oh, and America too." It had been fascinating, and Ana's French and Italian were better than they'd ever been, and she'd learned some Chinese, which was fun. Still, no place like home, and for the Gryffindor, home meant Hogwarts. "I was supposed to just take off the fall term and come back after Christmas, but then my aunt died and it got complicated, so I'm just now back."
Good Lord, that was a lot of information. She wasn't sure why, but she felt as though she could talk to Dale for ages. She supposed he was just "one of those people". It was also so, so nice to talk to someone who was actually her age and not 20 years older like everyone everywhere they visited had been. Still, she was normally a bit more reserved, and she intended to maintain some level of decorum if she could.

@Anastasia BeckettDale was impressed with Ana's exploits, his family liked to travel, just mostly without him. Not that he ever complained. Dale hated getting on planes and traveling always meant getting a cheap hotel in some shady alleyway so his parents could spend more money on souvenirs. "America huh... I used to live there." Not that Dale could remember much from his time living there, Dale pointed to Ana's work, "I bet you've got a lotta work to make up." Dale vaguely remembered Ana helping him last year with his work, maybe this time the table would turn and he could repay her.
"So what did you do in those countries... I'm assuming more than just sightseeing?" Dale didn't really see Ana as a person to go to so many places just to sightsee, but then again he was terrible at reading people. Dale thought it was nice chatting with Ana again, but also he wanted to get his work done sometime this week. He deiced he would try to multi-task, talking and writing never worked out for him in the past, but that didn't stop him from thinking it would work perfectly this Time around. He picked up his quill and started to write his paper, something about Telescopes and Thunderstorms.

"Oh, really?" Anastasia asked when Dale said that he used to live in America. She'd liked America alright, but she definitely preferred France or Italy. Still, New York was nice, and now apparently Ana owned property there now, which she didn't fully understand. "I have so much classwork to catch up. My parents said that they owled Lear, but I asked around and apparently he hasn't met with anyone in months. So, even though I had a tutor the whole time, they're making me go back over a lot of it. It's easy, there's just so much of this."
"We met with a lot of my parents' friends and went to all these parties and fancy restaurants," Anastasia said. It had been alright, but it was pretty much the same as when she was at home, which was not her preferred way to spend time. She might be classy and well-bred, but that didn't mean that she wanted to spend the better part of a year exclusively with people her parents' age. Seeing Dale had decided to mulit-task, she remembered the mountain of work she had and figured it wouldn't hurt to work on it while she talked with him. "Wait, so, where in America did you live?"

@Anastasia BeckettDale leaned back in his chair, it had been a long time since he lived in America, and he was young when he did live there... all this to say he could not remember where his family had lived. "That's a good question... I wish I could answer it." Dale smiled as he leaned back in his chair, his paper was now halfway done, but Dale all out of things to write. He took a look at Ana's paper, "So you need any help? I'm kinda bored with my own work." Dale said as he laughed.
"Are you gonna be held back a year?" Dale thought for a second, usually, that's what they did in muggle schools if someone missed as many days as Ana did, but she did mention having a tutor... He sure hoped that she wasn't being held back, she was one of his only friends that were in the same year as him... it would be a tragedy if he had no friends his own age... and also a bit weird. Dale shook those thoughts out of himself, questioning it would not be a good thing to do... "What state did you visit during your stay in America?"

That was an odd reply, but then again, Ana hadn't known where their chateau in France was until recently, despite the fact that they went there most summers. When he offered help, Ana considered it for a moment. Generally, she hated help but now wasn't generally. Still, she was already behind and she knew most of the answers. It was really just getting everything on the paper. The assignments weren't particularly difficult, just tedious. She also noted that last year, when someone had offered to help her, she had snapped at them and bullied them for several months. She really was maturing, despite reigniting a feud with a certain older Gryffindor.
"Thank you, but I think I'm alright for now, although I may ask you for help when I get to astronomy," Anastasia said to the Slytherin. When he asked if she was going to be held back a year, she furrowed her brow for a moment before beginning to speak. "I don't think so since I should be caught up on classwork pretty soon, but I haven't been able to meet with Headmaster Lear to confirm that." She absolutely refused to repeat the year. Anyway, seeing as nobody had mentioned anything, she was going to be a third-year next year because that's what she decided. "First time we were there, we went to Washinton state, which was absolutely lovely, and then we went to New York later on. It was almost as nice as London or Paris, but not quite."

@Anastasia BeckettDale was honestly relieved when he got confirmation from her that she was not getting held back a year, he would finally have a friend in class, someone he could hopefully rely on. While he loved spending time with Santario and Lark, he felt rather lonely in class and during the various meals of the day. Dale looked over to Ana... It was hard to believe that this was their second time talking... he remembered the first time they had met, he could still remember how his heart raced and the stupid blush on his face, that was mostly because he wasn't used to talking to people and his stutter just made everything else, he couldn't deny that it was also caused by a small crush he had on her during his first year, most of those feelings had disappeared...
The sound of Ana's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, "Well... don't be afraid to ask... astronomy is one of my favorite classes." Dale sat up straight again in his seat, picking up his Quill and getting ready to finish up his paper. "I never went to Washington or Paris before, but I have been to New York and London." Dale looked up from his paper and at her, "New York is much better than London." Dale said with a matter of fact kind of voice.
