Paisley walked into the library, quickly scanning her surroundings. Her green gaze passed over every book and table, making it so that she would remember the library. She wanted to remember every bit of Hogwarts during her time here.
She had never been in here before, but the smell was so similar to her aunt's house, she could almost believe for a moment she was there. The thought was washed from her mind when Paisley thought of the homework she wanted to finish. She had to try and stay focused, otherwise the task would never get done.
Paisley slung her bag off of her shoulder and onto a table. It was tucked inside the shelves, nice and hidden from other students. Paisley relished her time in small coves like this, where the worries of the world seemed far away.
She settled down at a good dark table. The sun was setting, but she didn't bother to get up and watch today. She had homework to do.
"Let's see..." she muttered to herself. She pulled out a quill, some ink, and small piece of parchment. She wanted to get all of her homework finished before the weekend, that way she'd have plenty of time to enjoy the warm summer evenings. She only had a little bit left; thankfully her first week of school hadn't been too hard.
Paisley sat down and began to work. It took her awhile, but she finally finished Charms. She started to move onto the next subject.
"Transfiguration.." she muttered, but then looked up. It took her eyes a moment to focus within the dim lighting. She had begun working after dinner. Checking her watch, she saw it was almost time for bed.
Dropping her homework for awhile, she started scanning the shelf in front of her. She pulled out an interesting book and started to leaf through it, not paying any particular attention to what she was reading.

Melissa walked into the library, hoping to get some studying in. She overheard a couple of older students talking about having to study as much as they could or else they'll fail the class. She shuddered at the thought of failing her classes. Mel had already finished her homework earlier so she could do whatever she wanted to do later. She grabbed a book from the shelf and walked over to the tables. All of them were full, either covered with books or had way too many students. There were other tables around the library but they were also all occupied.
When Melissa was about to go, she saw a table she didn't notice before. It's was tucked between shelves. She walked over but a girl had gotten there faster than her. ...that was the last table though- she thought. You know what? I'll just go up and ask if I can also sit at the table. When she got closer, she saw that the girl also looked about her age. She hesitated multiple times, wondering what would happen if she messed up. "Excuse me, can I also sit here? All of the other tables are full-" she said to the other girl when she finally got there.@Paisley Brown

"Excuse me, can I also sit here? All the other tables are full-" a girl who looked slightly menacing walked up to Paisley. She glanced up from what she was reading, and smiled in what she thought was a kind way. Her green eyes twinkled and scrunched up as she looked at the girl, as they always did when she smiled.
She didn't really know what else to do; social gatherings like this were not her thing. She hadn't yet been approached at Hogwarts, and she had been too shy to speak to anyone herself. After faltering for a moment, Paisley remembered she had a question to answer.
"Ok, sure." she moved her chair over a bit so that the girl could sit down next to her. She glanced over at her for a moment, and then there was silence. Paisley, having no practice making friends like this, didn't say a thing. She figured the girl would eventually tire of her and leave, but there was a feeling Paisley had, as if she wanted to make a friend. Perhaps she should say something.
After a great struggle, Paisley finally brought up the courage to speak.
"So, what's your name? I'm Peasly-I mean Paisley," she cringed inwardly. Paisley was horrible at first impressions. Once she was friends with someone, she was fine, but it was the first few words that were the hardest.
Paisley, shame overcoming her, looked down into her book. There was a page that mentioned quidditch.
Why the heck am I reading about quidditch? she thought to herself, and then put the book away on the shelf above her. She pulled out her transfiguration homework and began working on it.
She muttered inaudibly, then, remembering that the girl next to her could possibly get annoyed, stopped immediately.
Paisley, feeling all out of sorts, finally put away her homework all together. She pulled out a small notebook she had brought from home and wrote her word to describe the day. She liked to do this everyday, and then she would go back and try to remember the event that had happened. It was a strange habit, but Paisley found it helped her recall the days easier.
Making sure Melissa couldn't see what she was writing, she scribbled this quickly in the book:
Awkward

The girl stared at her for a while, not answering. Melissa immediately thought, I guess she doesn't want me here- Before she finished her thought, the girl quickly said she could sit there. O-oh nevermind then. She(Melissa) sat down on a chair beside the girl and started to read. She didn't quite feel like making an iteration with the girl. The girl, Peas- wait no, Paisley then introduced herself and asked for Mel's name. "My name's Melissa, Mel for short...Nice to meet you Paisley," she said. After another moment of silence, Paisley switched her book and took out her homework. Soon after that, she put that away as well and took out a notebook. Wow. She sure changes her mind real quick, Melissa thought. The girl scribbled something down in the notebook, making sure she didn't want Mel to see. After another moment of silence, the ginger asked, "So, uh, what do you like to do in your spare time?" She just wanted to break the silence and awkwardness between then.
Melissa decided to continue reading while she waited for Paisley's answer but then it was interrupted by a soft meowing. Then, a little grey kitten trotted over and rubbed against her leg. "Oh Kato! How did you find me?" Mel asked her little friend. Then she added, "Kato's my cat, by the way." to the other girl. She didn't want Paisley to think she just named a random cat or anything. The ginger bent down to pick up the grey furball. She(Kato) was a pretty small cat but somehow weighed quite a bit. The kitten wasn't overweight or anything though. Just...heavy for her size. That's all. When Melissa put Kato in her lap, the small furball curled up and possibly fell asleep. Mel continued reading again, stroking her kitten and scratching behind the cat's ears.

I am so sorry for the late reply! I kept typing it out and forgetting to save the draft!"I like to sew," Paisley explained, gesuring to her bag. She pulled out a small sewing kit along with a tiny blanket. "I've started making this just a few days ago. It's coming along pretty well," That was when she remembered they were in the library. She looked around, a look of false worry on her face.
"I'd better put this away, just in case," she thought, and put the sewing kit back in her bag.
When the cat came up to Melissa, Paisley immediately turned around. She had smelled it coming before it had shown itself.
"I love cats," said Paisley, partially telling the truth. She had loved cats, before she became a werewolf. Now, whenever she saw them, she got a strange feeling inside of her. She pushed it down, though, because she had always wanted a cat, and she wasn't willing to give up on her dreams that easily.
Paisley put her notebook away. She pulled another book off of the shelf, because why not? She started to leaf through this was as well, and then she remembered why she was here.
"Homework...I've got to get that done," she muttered to herself, pulling out her parchment once again. She stared at the blank page for a few moments, decided she didn't want to work on it, and put it away.

"Oh that's really neat!" Melissa exclaimed. She never tried it but she just knew that there would be absolutely no way she would have the patience to sew. "Oh yeah maybe you should...we're in a library after all-" she said. As Paisley talked, Mel focused on her book and cat again. She didn't know how to reply or anything so she continued reading again. Well, that was until she noticed Paisley pulling out parchment and putting it back a few seconds later.
Isn't she doing her homework? the ginger wondered. It was strange but she didn't say anything about it. She decided not to ask Paisley because she didn't want to poke her nose in other people's business. Melissa must've been too interested in her book because she didn't even notice how dark it was outside. She quickly looked at the clock and it said 9:55. Oh my god. Isn't curfew at 10? I only have five minutes left to get back to my dorm! she said in her head. "So uh, it was nice meeting you Paisley but I have to go now. Bye! I hope we'll meet again soon-" she quickly said as she gathered all of her stuff and carried Kato. She then ran out to the halls and towards the Ravenclaw dorm.Melissa Carson exits the thread@Paisley Brown
