Your IC goal is to wipe the dust from 3 bookshelves manually without any use of magic. You have to take out books one by one, clean the shelf and put it back. You will not have your wand back until your detention is served.
Normally, Meenauh expected the bookshelves in the library to be self-cleanable, or at least cleaned regularly by the house-elves. When Meenauh asked them to not clean several bookshelves for a day, the elves gave her suspicious looks, but humbly agreed.

She owled Nell earlier in the morning, so they were in the library by the afternoon. The wand was confiscated at the entrance and Meenauh guided Nell to the three distant bookshelves.

"So, here they are. The number of books in the library produces an immense amount of dust. It is unhealthy for all the students and residents of the library. Your job will be simple: clean these. Take out every book, swipe the bookshelf with this," she pulled out a small sweeping brush from her bag, which she borrowed from Professor Galim's office earlier (with permission, of course), "there are around three hundred books in total, so you should be done in a couple of hours, I guess."

If Meenauh would still believe in house-related stereotypes, she wouldn't have chosen Library for a Ravenclaw. Such detention wouldn't be over in a decade. But at that point it was okay. If this Ravenclaw would end up reading a book or two, she wouldn't care. She'd probably end up the same herself. But the detention would be just extended until the task is done.

Nell nodded grimly as the prefect explained her task. Surprisingly, Nell had thought her job would be much harder than this. She was took the sweeping brush out of the prefect’s hand as she held it out to Nell.

“Well time to start I guess,” Nell mumbled. With that, Nell grabbed the first book off the shelf. She dusted it and it’s spot. Nell worked swiftly - grabbing books, dusting them with great care, and then dusting the shelf.

She was quite surprised when she finished half of the first bookshelf. On that thought, Nell silently agreed that this task would indeed take a couple hours at the least. She continued dusting away, trying to ignore each book. She longed to read them, but she wanted to get this done with.

Nell eventually brushed off the sweeping brush for it was covered in dust. She sneezed into her elbow a couple times. Nell was a bit allergic to dust, so this triggered her allergies a good bit. After a good few sneezes, Nell returned to dusting. Finally, the first shelf was finished. Nell carefully placed the books back in the same order.

Nell was proud of herself, and she was ready to take on those next two shelves.

OOC: do I need to wait for you to have a post in order to do a second post?

Nell quickly, and quickly, walked over to the second shelf which was to her right. This shelf seemed a tad larger than the last one. Was it or was her mind being funny with her? She shrugged. Size won’t matter in the end, she just has to dust them all.

With that, Nell began taking the books on the shelf and placing them neatly on the ground. She made sure to put them in the order they came off the shelf in or there might be a problem. Finally, the next batch of books were off. Nell dusted the shelf with great care and made sure to get every corner.

She proceeded to place the books back on the shelf. Nell dusted each and every one as she placed them on the shelf. This wasn't even half as hard as she thought it would be. Nell wisely decided that she should not say that out loud. Eventually, each and every book was on the shelf.

Nell looked to her left once more to see the very last shelf. After this one, she would be free to go. Nell approached the last shelf and gave it a good look before dusting it. She quickly placed the books on the ground and dusted their spots with ease. However, as she was putting the books back, her eyes caught a specific one.

She set her sweeping brush down carefully and opened the book, brows furrowed. Nell read the book, flipping each page with care. Oh, how interesting this book was. She was on the last page when she remembered the shelf dusting. Quickly, she read the last page and continued to dust. That book was amazing, amazing indeed.

Finally, Nell Zoldak placed the last book on the shelf and smiled. That wasn’t so bad. She was quite proud of her time too. Only about two hours whereas she thought it would take four. She set her sweeping brush down on a table by the door and retrieved her wand from the prefect. Happily, she walked out of the room, ready to go to . . . well . . . not detention anyway!
From Meenauh: Good job! Your detention is served!
