He'd never enjoyed history, it wasn't that he was bad at the subject. After all it was really just a matter of memorizing the text, which was exactly why he hated it so much. It was boring, so very boring that he always put off studying to the last second, a very bad habit that he was trying to break before it got him into trouble. It was the whole reason he was here, trying to focus on the words of the book so that he could just get it out of the way but for the life of him he just kept failing. Every other page he read ended up with him re-reading it at least twice before the words actually stuck and what should have been only a quick chapter study...was so far two hours of re-reading paragraphs that he kept skimming over only to forget a minute later.
Today the library had been rather abandoned, usually having the place to himself would have left him overjoyed if he'd been doing literally anything else but now? He was slowly suffocating in the overwhelming stillness of it all, slowly getting more and more annoyed as the words seemed to bleed together in a jumbled mess. Groaning he shoved the thick book away, glaring at the gold emblem of the cover. It was only right to learn the history of Hogwarts but did they have to make the process so dull?
He plopped his elbows atop the wooden table, resting his head in one hand as the other tapped at the hard surface in an uneven rhythm that seemed to echo through the empty space. Maybe he should just keep to his bad habit. After all, when the panic of a test set in it was enough motivation so that he didn't have this type of problem at the very least.
"Why do I even bother..." he grumbled, looking away with a small frown.

@Elsian Cox___________________________________________________Logan had decided to go the library to read again, which was quite usual for him. He enjoyed reading a lot, and this library had the largest selection of books he had ever seen! So he was going here whenever he had the time to, be it to read or do homework or revision.. and then read. Whatever he came in to do, he would leave after closing a book he had been reading.
Fortunately, today it was his intent to read a book.
He noticed how quiet the library was today. There was only one person he could see there - a short Gryffindor around his age, with messy dark hair. The Gryffindor seemed a little annoyed and frustrated over something, and Logan figured it was likely homework or revision.
It made sense, I mean, the jump from one stage of schooling to the next is always going to be difficult, especially with a variety of likely new topics. So Logan figured he might as well walk over and offer some help, or at least offer to help if he can. He knew some of the homeworks, if not really all, required extra research - and research was something he was great at.
...Mostly great through having spent 3 months of his life doing nothing but school and research before his parents had to stop him from being so self-destructive... BUT STILL GREAT! He was still a great researcher, that fact is still a fact no matter why it is a fact.
He walked over to the Gryffindor. "Hey, do you need any help?" He asked, politely. "If so, I can try? Might not be able to, depends what it is, but.. I can try."

He was a bit hesitant to actually accept help, and it most likely showed in the look of distain he sent towards the book on Hogwarts History. Really, he wasn't sure the other would be able to help him much but he figured it was worth a try. A far better option than what he had been doing for the past 2 hours.
Eyeing the freckled boy he nodded, one hand shoving away the stray bangs from his eyes as the other grabbed the book from where he'd shoved it away. He wasn't about to let pride get in the way of actually getting something done.
"I need a miracle more like," he huffed, 'or an impending deadline' he thought to himself.
"Though I'm not sure how much you can do for me, I've been here over an hour and my brain seems to be on a one man mission to keep me here all day..."
He held out a hand out of habit, giving a small smile towards the Ravenclaw, "I'm Elsian, pleasure."

Coast slipped into the silent library gripping a piece of a paper tight. Rooms full of a billion books made her uneasy, but only because it reminded her of studying, a practice she didn't particularly enjoy.
Today she was in the library for one reason, and one reason only: to succeed. She needed to do well in her classes and what better way then do to more than necessary?
Before the year began students were supposed to buy the school books they needed, ones that fit their particular level. But what if she studied books more advanced than her grade? Maybe she would have access to information very helpful in order to really understand her courses.
She knew it would be too much to get books related to each class so she decided to pick just three for now, only because threw was her favorite number. Coast chose to find books related to the Dark Arts, History, and Potions, classes she found somewhat difficult.
She wore her long black hair in a low ponytail topped with her cat ears, her regular robes with the Hufflepuff crest, and a tiny frown on her face. Coast scoured the shelves with some sort of care, she skipped over a lot of titles because there were so many but she eventually found what she needed.
Holding the books under one arm with difficulty—she was pretty small and thin—she proceeded to head to the study area when she tripped over an unseen object.
“Oh—!”
BOOM. Coast landed on her hip, one of the books hitting her ankle hard enough to leave a sharp sting as she tried to get up. She groaned, holding her ankle, but no tears escaped from her eyes. She just seemed very frustrated.
She glanced up, hoping no one saw, and noticed two boys nearby. Her face reddened and she looked away, feeling so helpless that she was still on the floor. She began gathering her books so she could get up again.

@Coast Agnew___________________________________________________Logan noticed how he had startled the other boy, and felt a bit bad. "Sorry for startling you, I didn't mean to." He apologized.
He noticed that the other seemed a little hesitant to accept help, and noticed how he eyed him before finally seeming to accept. "Well, I can't provide miracles, but I'm sure you're not far enough to require any divine intervention. You just need the work to be explained differently than the book explains or your teacher did, if they did, is my guess. It's ok to need it explained differently, happens a lot to lots of people. People learn differently, after all." He carefully sat down next to the other.
"Nice to meet you, Elsian. I'm Logan Berry." He smiled, and shook the other's hand without questioning it.
He then heard a loud crash from somewhere else in the library, and quickly looked over. Another student had fallen over, seemingly a girl. He hoped she was ok, though since she merely looked frustrated he figured she probably hadn't hurt herself too badly, so he carefully looked back to Elsian. "Anyway, which part do you seem to be stuck on?"

@Coast AgnewHe nodded to the other boys words suddenly feeling a whole less self conscious about the whole matter, a small smile pulling at his lips when he thought back to his past tutors and the strain he'd put the poor adults in. "Tell that to my old teacher, I'm sure she'd disagree about the divine intervention."
Not to say she hadn't been a good teacher. Just that he'd definitely caused a few gray hairs...
"If you can somehow get this history to stick though, well, I'll definitely owe you one," he admitted.
Frowning he looked around to try and find the source of all the noise. He couldn't help the small laugh that pushed past his lips when he saw the Hufflepuff. It was obvious she had just noticed them after the fatal fall if the burning blush painting her face was anything to go on and he somewhat felt better knowing he hadn't been the only one to not notice company in the library. He did feel a bit bad for laughing though, especially seeing how she looked mortified enough as it was.
He bit the inside of his cheek, weighing his options when the girl started to make a grab for her books. Swiftly he stood, giving the Ravenclaw a glance and muttering a, "be right back," before striding the small distance to the girl. Crouching he picked up one of the books, cradling it in the crook of his elbow as he stood again to offer a hand to the Hufflepuff.
"Be careful next time yeah?" he huffed, starting to place the book on the table. He paused when he realized what book he'd picked up, glaring at the familiar cover of the history book.
He eyed the other titles the girl had in her hands, face pulling into one of dismay, "Of course I picked up the history book. The bane of my existence," he plopped the book onto the table as if it would attack at any moment, a grimm reminder of why he was here for the past couple hours.
"Hope you have a better time with the subject than me," he frowned, turning away to look over to where he'd left his new study partner, "see you."
Walking back over he sat himself down into the wooden chair, grabbing his own book with a sigh and dragging it back in front of him and next to Logan.
"Godric Gryffindor’s legacy," he replied to the others question, "I just can't seem to concentrate long enough to actually learn the legacy...it's just so...dull." he muttered, shoving away some stray hairs from his eyes.
