How many times had Illowy assumed this position? Secluded in a cabin, seated next to the window facing to watch the world drift away. One booted foot resting on the seat opposite of her with her violin case resting against the knee of her other leg. The only difference was that she now had Killian, a silver and charcoal ball of fluff draped lazily in her lap as she stared off, lost in her own thoughts. Beside her was the envelope she'd admittedly stolen from her mother's office. Illowy knew she should have returned them but... she felt as though she needed them. She felt a right to take them now so she might look at the contents of pictures, letters and documents whenever she felt the need.

It felt like the only solid piece of evidence to confirm that everything that had happened over break was real.

Tiredly, the girl rubbed her face and ran a hand through the tangled mess of waves that hung loose around her shoulders and looked around herself for a moment. She'd totally taken over the small cabin. With a sigh, she girl moved her companion from her lap before rising to reorganize; starting with her beloved violin which she perched carefully in the corner between the wall and the seat. She then picked up her thick winter cloak and was folding it over her arm just as the door slip open.

Assuming it was some other student trying to find a place to sit until they arrived back at Hogwarts, Illowy didn't even bother looking up, "Sorry, give me a moment. I sort of took over without even realizing it." she spoke, voice numb and neutral as she folded the cloak as neatly as possible before stuffing it up in the baggage holder with her suitcase.

Lamik felt extremely conflicted. On one hand, he adored Hogwarts. It was practically impossible not to (as long as you ignored all the threats to your life). The enormous castle that made you feel like royalty, the incredible feasts, and of course- the magic. The magic was the best part of the school. Wonderous abilities that only two years ago he thought were nothing more then fairy tails and movies. On the other hand, every second that Lamik was at Hogwarts, he missed his true home. His sister- his best friend. His parents- the most important people on earth. Every time he said goodbye, the boy felt like crying and laughing at the same time.

That days good bye had already happened though, amd after standing wistfully by the door for a few moments, Lamik dragged his suitcase behind him as he looked from side to side for a place to sit. Luckily, he spotted just the one- a compartment with only one person in it- someone he knew. Sort of. As he slid open the door and stepped inside, Lamik realized just how messy the compartment was.

"Sorry, give me a moment. I sort of took over without even realizing it."

Lamik shook his head slowly, though she wasnt exactly looking. "Thats ok. Take your time, Illowy." He said, hoping that he remembered her name right.

The voice rang a slightly familiar bell in the back of the girl's mind. Once she was certain her things were secure overhead, the snake peered back over her shoulder at the boy, quickly trying to place his face before recalling that he was the boy she'd met before in the library the year previous; just as well, she was fairly certain he was one of her cousin's teammates. That seemed so long ago now. For her at least, so much had happened between then and now that she scarcely felt like she was the same person who'd been so curiously peering over his shoulder at his drawing.

"Lamik, right?" she questioned, "Is that right? Sorry, I'm awful with names." she at least hoped he was the person she was thinking of. How absolutely mortifying if she was confusing the lad with a completely different person.

All the same, she retained her calm nature in spite of her mentally questioning herself, and took her seat once more by the window, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. Her cat, Killian, lazily took his opportunity to drape himself once more over her leg, keeping a curious and watchful eye on the new coming in the cabin.

Lamik frowned. "Its Mark, actually." He said in a sort of mini prank. A few moments later though the boy cracked a smile, correcting himself. "No, I'm joking. I'm Lamik, yes. We met one day when you looked at my drawing." Lamik smiled at the girl and looked around the compartment. She had done a fairly good job of cleaning up the cluster- at least there was somewhere to sit now. So thats what he did. Lamik sat down on the bench opposite to her, arms wrapped around his legs. When the two had met previously, it had been only for a very brief amount of time. Maybe now Lamik could make a new friend of her.

"Thanks for letting me sit here. How are you?" The boy said. For some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that Illowy wasn't feeling so good. He couldn't read into her well enough to know for certain though, and so he decided not to bring it up directly. Hopefully, of she was sad or troubled for some reason, Lamik would figure out why and be able to help her. Then was no point in trying to pry it out though, especially if he wasnt even sure if he was right.

"Its Mark, actually."
Illowy's pale blue eyes went wide for a moment when he corrected her and her face flushed a warm pink that rarely crossed her usually pale features, "Oh wow... I was so off." she muttered sheepishly, having been fairly confident given it was such an unusual name. The snake dropped her head and rubbed her face with her hand. That was, until he cracked a smile and admitted to his tease, "For the love of Merlin, don't do that to me." she chuckled, her hand falling away from her face, still a little embarrassed, "Right, the binding picture." the girl recalled, sitting back in her seat.

"Its no trouble. The compartments fill up quickly, I know how it goes." she assured. The girl shifted a bit in her seat, which resulted in an annoyed look from Killian as he readjusted with his mistress, stretching himself out in the fleeting bit of sunlight that managed to hit the bench of the compartment, "I'm fine, I guess... just a crazy year that I'm ready to finish." the girl answered. It was true. Since she'd last talked to the lad, she'd learned so much about the dark secrets of her family, both old and recent, she seen so many terrible things... it was difficult to convince herself that it had all happened in such a short time span.

Lamik nodded. The boy was always confused about the design of the Hogwarts train. Separate compartments seemed impractical. They took up a lot of space, making it annoyingly difficult to find a seat if you don't arrive early. Then again, compartments we're far more comfortable then just rows of seats, such as those in airplanes. A lot more privacy, a lot more silence, and more often then not there was a lot more room too. Of course, that wasn't the case here, considering the mess that Illowy had made earlier, but that didn't matter. Lamik didn't really need the space anyway.

At the mention of a crazy year, Lamik chuckled. "It was like this last year too- at least for me." He said with a sheepish smile. "In fact, this year is turning out better than my first." The Gryffindor had very conflicting feelings about the school of witchcraft and wizardry. On one hand it was the best thing to ever happen to him. Finding out that he had superpowers was a childish dream, sure, but it was one that Lamik had dreamt of for as long as he could remember. Magic was the closest thing to superpowers imaginable. On the other hand, Hogwarts was dangerous. Despite the skilled and caring staff and the various security measures, every month something bad seemed to happen. Lamik wondered what exactly Illowy had experienced. "What happened?"

The girl shook a hand through her hair, thinking for a moment as to how to exactly answer his question. She knew for certain telling him about the bloody tragedy involving her cousin and his best friend was out of the question. As much as she occasionally pined to get the thoughts and memories out into the open. She didn't even feel comfortable talking about it to her cousin. Ever since that night, it was like an unspoken pact to never bring it up again.

Everything else, she felt, could be given at her own discretion; and with so few friends, she didn't have many people to talk about her thoughts or feelings too. Just as well, Lamik seemed kind and quiet enough. What harm could it cause to at least get some small details off her chest and into open hair, "Other then the disaster that was the Blossom Ball last year, some family stuff went down over the summer that was rough." the snake began, "Then this year my um... my dad started trying to contact me." she confessed softly, "My mum never talks about him because he's not exactly a great guy... but he tracked me down over holiday." her words were nervous and soft, keeping her pale gaze on Killian as she spoke. It felt wrong in a way, admitting to meeting her father. As though it were a sin.

It seemed best to keep the statements brief, after all, it was still tender information to her and she didn't exactly know how much the lad could be trusted with knowing about her.

The idea of parents that were anything but amazing was completely foreign to Lamik. His entire life, the boy had nothing but admiration for his mother and father, who always could and would provide him with anything that he needed. For that reason, Lamik wasn't entirely sure what he was meant to say. Still, he was determined to do something, and he would need more information for that. "What did he do?" The boy asked, not really realizing she may not want to share. "And what exactly do you mean by he tried contacting me?" In his young mind, the worst-case scenario was pretty bad- a mass murderer stalking his daughter and sending her cryptic messages via mail... Or something. Lamik had seen a movie with a similar scenario once though, which may have inspired his imagination to go places. best-case scenario was a lot tamer- maybe he just stole some things. Maybe he was just a jerk. Maybe he changed and just wanted to contact his daughter, who despite his last self, he loved very very much. Hopefully, that was it- just a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding could sometimes result in forgiveness. Mass murders could result in serious mental scars.

Illowy loved her mother, that was no lie. Her main parental figures had always been her mother, aunt and uncle; the latter being the only real male figure she'd ever had in her life. However, she held her mother in the highest regard. In her eyes, her mother was amazing. She was captain of the Dueling Team, she'd served as both Prefect and Head Girl in Ravenclaw house when she'd attended Hogwarts, fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, had perfect grades on top of other extra curriculars, and now she was a strong, confident working woman in the Wizarding World. How could she not look up to someone who seemed so perfect?

Of course, nothing is ever just so. That was more clear to Illowy then ever now.

For a moment, the girl hesitated as to whether it was right to disclaim what her father had done; both then and now. Would she get in trouble? Would it warrant something worse to happen? The snake just wanted to get everything off her chest, "You can't tell anyone..." she spoke softly before leaning towards him a bit. With a deep breath, she began, "He was in a... gang, of sorts," she thought perhaps it was better for both her own reputation and her family's to omit certain details. Such as her father actually being a werewolf, and the 'gang' being in reference to his apparent pack.

"My aunt and uncle, they're aurors for the Ministry and were charged with taking this gang down. They didn't know my father was involved, and he didn't know they were the aurors trying to take them down. When my mother and my aunt and uncle and I were away on holiday, they attacked us." she spoke slowly, as though trying to carefully explain the event., "He and the other members were sent away to Azkaban... and I don't know when or how, but he's out now and I guess once he got out he figured out where I was and started sending me letters."

Lamik nodded a bit when Illowy instructed him to not tell anyone about what she was about to share. Bringing his index finger and thumb together, the boy pretended to zip his mouth shut. Of course, the young gryffindors mouth opened in shock slightly as soon as he heard the word "Gang". Shock wasn't the right word to describe the feelings that bubbled up inside him. No, it was more like confusion. Up to that point, Lamik had always thought of Gangs as a fiction. He knew they were real, of course, but he had never actually felt their presence in the world. To know someone who's parent was in a gang? That was absurd.

Now, the boy wasn't even sure if he would get any more of an answer then "He was in a gang". What he was sure of though, obviously mistakenly, was that he wouldn't get much more. "Oh." He said simply, gathering his thoughts. "Your aunt and uncle... Are they ok? Did they get hurt?" Lamik had a great relationship with both his aunts. He also had two uncles, thought the boy was only on good terms with one of them. The thought of having ANY family member be put onto danger, including them, was rather terrifying.
