Jamie Duncan was not an usually so excitable fellow. Nor had he ever visited London with his family, from the long drive from Glasgow, his father had braved the journey with him alone. No mum, no brothers, no sisters and luckily, no doting aunts to worry over his well being.

"It says 9 and three quarters." he lowed up at his father, a wide smile on his face. Nine and three quarters, was there a secret club only his kind knew about? The giddiness spread through his toes and all the way to the messy mop of dark hair he had scratched and flung about into its now wild state.

A tisk escaped his fathers mouth. 'Nine and three quarters? That can't be right, lad, read it again.' His father seemed bamboozled, looking around each empty platform that same look. Not one other person was carting about such oddities and Jamie could even feel the judgemental view of strangers begin to bother him. "I'm s-serious, look!" He jumped up, displaying the calligraphered ticket. In bolded letters, the truth was set. They had to find something invisible.

Nine, and Three Quarters. Wherever that was. His father spoke logically while the fear set into his son's skin. 'We can start at nine, and see if its along there, someone has to know.'

Luckily for them both, someone did know. An odd hatted individual pulling alongside them a child similar to his own age. The instructions were simple, run directly at a stone pillar and the train would appear.

'Yeah right'. The only thing likely to appear was a headache.

The woman, thankfully demonstrated first, disappearing into the bricked pillar. Jamie, was soon to follow, hesitant before he felt no collision, but the embrace of normalcy. From darkness to something new, he came to find himself on a bustling platform, children already beginning to board. It was the last call - and he, was incredibly late. "Oh! Dad- I gotta'--" he hurried along, his father not able this time, to spare a hug or much else than a farewell as Jamie hurried up the steps and into the first compartment.

---------------------------------

It was now, he sought some form of seat, peaking his head between many compartments before finding one, only resided in by a handful of people. "S-sorry! I'm new, and late- do you mind if I sit here?" He awaited their answer.

Zelda has been ecstatic ever since she got a letter by owl. She's wanted to be able to go to Hogwarts for forever. She couldn't wait for September 1st to come. Zelda ran through Diagon Alley, getting her wand first. One by one, she got all her materials and put them in her trunk.

She held her trunk tightly, maneuvering through the train trying to find an empty compartment. Once she found one, she sat down, looking out the window. she saw her mother, and brother wave to her, before leaving the train station.

When the boy opened the door it caught her off guard, startling her. Once she saw him, her eyes glittered with kindness.

"Of course!" She smiled. "What's your name?" She said, her one blue eye shimmered like stars. "I'm Zelda. I'm new too!" She smiled. Her baggy sweatshirt had a picture of a small dog on it. Her expression wore excited, yet anxious.

She crossed her legs, her posture was tall. A small book lay on her lap. the book was filled with little sketches of mystical beasts. the page that it was open to show a griffin. she held a matted old quill, and some ink lay beside her.

'Was it possible to be scared to death?' Bailey pondered while surrounded by all the new faces. Children his own age and others far beyond his years clamored onto the train to get to compartments with their friends, while he dawdled down and peered through every door. Many were already filled and his thoughts traced back from how he arrived up to this point.

It seemed like time flew as soon as his Hogwarts letter arrived. His family seemed way more enthusiastic about it then he and more so then they have ever displayed in his whole 11yrs. His father had even taken time away from his job to help with the shopping for school supplies which was uncharacteristic of him, to begin with. Bailey didn't have a close relationship with any member of his family, especially his father. He looked up to the man and admired him very much. He was his father after all and Bailey loved him with his whole heart. However, the most time they had ever spent together is when Bailey had come down with a serious cold when he was 6yrs old, so he didn't know his father too well on a personal level.

Bailey wasn't used to being surrounded by strangers, especially alone. He felt overwhelmed and anxiety built in the pit of his stomach like a knot. Bailey breathed in deeply as he entered a compartment where a single student @Zelda McCoy sat. A small book upon her lap with sketches of beasts upon it. Bailey gave a soft smile "Hope you don't mind..." he shyly spoke before sitting across from her and glancing at her book once more.

"Bai.." he began to introduce himself when another student @Jamie Duncan had come into the compartment. Bailey pushed his back into the cushions of the seat and looked over to the student that had entered. It wasn't really up to him so he gave a soft smile as he as well intruded into the girl's space. He hoped she wasn't saving these seats for fellow students. He would hate to have to find another compartment. He was already feeling more at ease in this one after all and searching for another one just made this trip seem even more unbearable. Bailey showed a calm and composed posture but deep within was a frightened little boy who wished to be home and cuddling his stuffed bear.

Kyler felt lost. Not that there was any real hiding nooks on this long straight train, but he was completly out of his element. One of very few children in his generation, Ky was the oldest of his cousins, and as far as he knew he best friend didn't have a speck of magic, so would not be showing up here or at school.

Starting near the middle and working his way forward the dark haired boy paused outside each door looking for a friendly face. It was at a door where a girl was introducing herself, that he thought he might be alright. All strangers could turn into friends, right? So he followed the boy (Jamie) in and took the empty spot closest to the window.

"Nice to meet you all, I'm Kyler." He offered with a smile. Pulling his backpack from his shoulder he tucked it between his feet instead of putting it in the rack over head. "My mom sent brownies for the trip, would anyone like to try one? ...Or some?"

Unzipping the pack he withdrew one of those old beat up cookie tins that promised treasure or a sewing kit. Popping the lid, he offer the mix of differnt brownie based treats to those across the way, before holding out the container to the nervous looking boy beside him. (Bailey)

Eileen took a shaky breath as she wandered around the train, trying not to topple into friends who greeted each other with squeals, shrieks, and long winded conversations. She already missed her mother's warm and teary embrace as she let her daughter go (with much probing from her dad, who instructed her to run through the podium with a light push of encouragement). Eileen clutched her stuffed giraffe that she'd had since childhood more tightly. She hoped nobody would think she was dorky, but at the same time, she wanted to befriend kids who wouldn't care about that regardless.
"Curse my wobbly legs," Eileen thought to herself, as she embarrassingly bumped into somebody who was entering a compartment. She glanced into the compartment the boy she'd bumped into was entering it. She saw a girl with animal drawings on her lap and a few of the boys shyly introducing each other. One of them was handing out brownies. Seeing their equally shy and new encounters filled Eileen with hope. Their compartment seemed a bit crowded with four people but she hoped that she'd be able to befriend some first years if she went onwards. She ventured closer to the front of the train and eventually found an empty one. Grateful to have a moment of reprieve from the crowd, she opened the sliding door and rushed in with her luggage. She sighed and collapsed into the cushioned seat.
She hoped somebody would come in eventually. She glanced through the window of the compartment longingly, watching kids hug one another as they rushed off into their own compartment. Shaking her head to dispel her nerves, she pulled her laptop out and began writing all of the details she was observing -- the noise, the red seats, the way the London scenery blurred outside. She didn't want to forget a single moment of this.

Bailey was beyond nervous and those around him made it even more so. His eyes turned to transfix outside as more and more came into contact with them. A girl just wandering about and passing their compartment out completely, made her presence known but seemed to want nothing to do with them. Most likely just as nervous as Bailey was feeling right about now.

The smell hit his nose before the words even passed the boys lips. Turning to see yet another new face who seemed to have slipped in and right beside him, without his knowledge. Bailey realized he had zoned out unintentionally to be greeted with a happy smile and a tin full of brownies. Try as he might to hide the smile the edged at the corner of his lips, his excitement for the sweets was inevitable.

A weakness of his, that he could never deny and very noticable as his eyes brightened as the tin came towards him, (kyler) offering a brownie to everyone in the compartment and winning Bailey over instantly. Nodding with a smile, he was careful to take a slice out and use his other hand to guard beneath his precious brownie so the crumbs didn't get everywhere. He could hardly contain himself as he took a bite and hummed happily. It was the most amazing thing he had ever eaten! His new favorite food.

Moving even closer to his new friend, scooching himself upon the cushions, he smiled "My name is Bailey". He spoke softly in a very shy manner. Nibbling on his own lower lip but very interested in getting to know this boy with the tin of brownies that still remained rather full of the delicious sweets. Bailey would be more then happy to help empty the tin a tad more. His eyes scanner back over the tin, "May I have another?" he asked nervously as his fingers fiddled together upon his lap. His new addiction... Kyler's Moms' Brownies.

Elizabeth gasped and looked around, suddenly feeling very small. There were parents and students rushing around all over the place. It was packed! She almost got pushed down by a family carrying a bunch of trunks. "Sorry," one of them muttered and continued walking.

And there, right in front of her, was the Hogwarts Express. "Wow," Elizabeth breathed, staring up at the long red train in front of her. It seemed to sparkle, and Elizabeth wondered if it, too, was magical. She blinked a few times, trying to make sure this was all really happening. She was actually going to Hogwarts! She stood, staring in wonder at the train a moment more before realizing it was about to leave. Quickly, she boarded the train and began looking for a place to sit.

"Excuse me," she said, squeezing past what felt like hundreds of students. "Sorry! Excuse me - woah!" Suddenly she was pushed into a compartment occupied by several other students. "Sorry," she said, about to leave and find another compartment, when she noticed that they looked about as lost as she felt. Are you first-years, too?" she asked, standing just inside the doorway. Suddenly, she remembered something. "My suitcase!" she exclaimed, a look of horror on her face.

Shay and her brother, Lincoln, were walking through the station. She had her suitcase all geared up. Once people around were at least a meter away, she and her brother went head first into a wall that was 93/4 between the stations. It might seem crazy, but the wall went translucent. They went straight through. When they made it past, Shay looked up. She then saw the Hogwarts Express, for the very first time.

The metal walls were obsidian black and crimson red. Steam released into the air. The engine whistled. On the front of the train was a sign. In gold letters, it said, "Hogwarts Express". Below it was another sign with black letters, "5927".

The station they stood in was also magnificent. Circular lamps hung themselves from the domed ceiling. Other wizards/witches and soon-to-be wizards/witches walked around. Shay had come with her big brother, Lincoln because she wanted to make sure she didn't get lost. It wasn't that big of a deal, Lincoln needed to return to school anyway. He ran away a lot. They waited for the train whistle, then handed the ticket man their tickets, hopped on, and got a seat together.

Shay won rock-paper-scissors and got to be by the window. The train lunged forward, backward, then started moving forward again. Shay gazed out the window, longingly. She had the look of sadness and excitement. There she was, on the Hogwarts Express, moving out, to become a witch. Her brother held her hand to comfort her.

This place was like a madhouse, the station bustling wildly as parents struggled to keep their children's things together, practically climbing over other families trying to get everyone on in time. Illowy's mother seemed no different, being the most frazzled that Illowy had ever seen. Then again, it was the first time they were going to be apart for so long. Still being the woman she was, goodbyes were short with a few encouraging words as the girl climbed aboard the train.

She moved tentatively, trying not to get into anyone way as children ran around, though some looked just as nervous as she did. Gripping her suitcase tightly, she wandered about behind another girl trying to find her way. As a couple other kids rushed past them, Illowy pressed herself into one of the walls, though the girl in front of her was knocked over into the nearest compartment. Listening to her babble as she righted herself, Illowy slipped past her, finding a less occupied compartment next to it, "I think its fair to assume anyone looking scared is a first year too." she commented a bit more cynically then she'd meant.

She had started shoving her belongings into the overhang above the seat when the same girl exclaimed about her suitcase, and the brunette popped her head out, "For the love of everything decent, don't let the next thing out of your mouth be that you left it on the platform."

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Elizabeth turned her attention to the girl in the compartment next door. She had long, wavy, dark brown hair, and pale skin. She had on a brown jacket that went to her knees and black pants.

She nodded. "I did. I left it out there with my parents." Elizabeth contemplated hurrying off the train to get it. Perhaps she could get out there and back without any problem. That thought was dashed when she felt the train lurch forward. They were leaving! Elizabeth's shoulders slumped for a moment, and she looked down. Now what? They would be at Hogwarts in a few short hours, and they were supposed to be in their uniforms when they arrived. What would the teachers do when they discovered that she not only wasn't wearing her uniform, she didn't even have it at all?

Her shoulders slumped for a moment. What if she had to buy more uniforms? She didn't have any money! What if they sent her home, told her to try again next year? She suddenly got very anxious, worried about all of the possibilities. No, she finally told herself, when the thought of the professors turning her into a cat crossed her mind. She just needed to calm down. It would be fine. She would just send Hogwart's address to her parents when she arrived at the school. Yes, that's what she would do. She cheered up again.

"I'm Elizabeth," she said to the girl. "This is my first year going to Hogwarts. Are you new, too? What's your name?"
