Finally! The day had come. The day where this small, ginger child would return to one of her most favorite places. Hogwarts, of course! And though it seems strange, she just simply couldn't wait to see her fellow students, friends or strangers, flood through the doors and hallways of the strange school-castle.

The Hufflepuff could barely contain herself. Here she was, standing on the pavement sidewalks of Kings Cross station, platform nine and three quarters. Frost was a light packer, having only one trunk and her knapsack. She stood there, smiling like and idiot, trying not to literally expode of happiness and she bounced up and down on her toes.

The girl was one of the first onto the train and the first to enter this compartment of the train. What was the number again? Oh, yes, that's right. Compartment number seven, as her favorite number was seven. The train compartment was just how she remembered it from exactly a year ago. The squishy seats and weird train smell, that only happened to be on trains, were everything they were from a year ago.

Frost sat down, drumming her fingers on the seats as she looked out the window. Her parents couldn't be here this time, entrusting her school shopping and actually getting there to the short girl with ginger hair. She huffed out a sigh, slipping her cardigan off of her shoulders and tying it around her waist.

She would sit there, in her seat, waiting for either loneliness or friends. Her legs up on the seat, folded 'criss-crossed'. The sound of the compartment door being slid open filled the kind of awkward silence. I mean, sitting alone in a quiet compartment wasn't exactly 'not awkward'.  Frost turned her head to face the door, beaming at the girlin front of her. It was Isabella!

"Hello, Bella!" She started, fixing her glasses. The girl nodded, gesturing to the spot in front of her. "You can have a seat if you'd like. I don't bite." She laughed a little, still smiling at the brunette girl in the doorway.

Isabella had been waiting in anticipation for this day for the totality of a month. Although she had only arrived home from Summer Camp at the beginning of August, she had been feeling homesick. Or at least, that's what her mother had told her she was feeling. But she had questioned how she could feel such a thing for a place that wasn't her home? She had lived at her home in Notting Hill for her entire life. Did she not consider that place home?

What it really came down to was the equation of eleven years vs eleven months. Surely it was an easy answer? The trouble was, she didn't actually know the answer to it. Half way through the year she would of said her home in Notting Hill without a doubt. But now, she had established a few secure friends through out the last six months and didn't know where felt more like home to her. Deep down, she wanted to say Hogwarts. But she somehow felt guilty in the choice. Her mother had done everything she could to make their home feel happy and like, well, home after her father, and then even more so after the passing of her brother. And the guilt inside of her made her feel bad at the decision to choose Hogwarts as her home that she had somehow decided deep down at the very bottom of her heart.

She had come alone. Leaving the grieving remainder of her family behind in the care of her aunt. She had promised her brother that she would not grieve him. And true to her promise, she had not cried over him since the funeral.

Breathing in the familiar smell that all trains seemed to carry, she dragged her trunk down the narrow hallway of the train. If she had been a muggle she would of been dragging 4 trunks - but thanks to the handy magic of her aunt, her otherwise normal trunk now carried an undetectable extension charm on it that allowed her to fit the contents of 4 trunks into one with room to spare.

Being on of the first there had its advantages, and the early start had been worth it. Now she had the choice of almost any compartment within the train. She could choose to sit with someone, or spend the train ride in solitary - with only her thoughts to keep her company over the hours.

Peering through the glass doors of the compartments, Isabella saw people she recognized and people she didn't. Mostly people she didn't. The newly acquired title of Second Year did not give her any knowledge as to who the older years were. She didn't even know half the people in her year for crying out loud.

A smile spread across her face she she recognized a familiar mop of red hair inside the seventh compartment. Sliding the compartment door open, she smiled as the Hufflepuff turned around. "Frost, hoi! I feel like it's been ages since I last saw you - even though it was only a few days ago. How have you been, are you excited for the new school year?" Dragging her trunk into the compartment as she rambled carelessly to the girl, she plopped herself down on the seat across from her as she waited for her response.

Her luck of finding a friend on the train this early had surprised her. She had been sure she would of ended up sitting alone for majority - if not all - of the trip.

The brunette plopped down on the cushiony seat in front of her. Frost laughed a little, seeing Bella sure did lift up her already high spirits. She was sure nobody would have come until much later. Or maybe no one would join at all. The ginger girl would wave at her new found compartment-mate, if that was even a thing, smiling that genuine grin she usually wore.

Frost tucked a strand of auburn hair behind her ear and nodded. "A few days could feel like ages, I suppose." The girl giggled. It was true. Days could very well feel like months to some people. "Well, of course, I'm so excied I feel as if my head would explode." She joked, gesturing with her hands as the explosion. The ginger smiled at Bella, who seemed to be relieved to have found Frost so early on.

The girl shuffled in her seat, trying to get a bit more comfortable. "Well, what about you? What do you have planned for the new year?" Frost didn't really have a solid idea for what she wanted to do at Hogwarts this year. Of course, more freinds were nice, but she didn't really have a goal to achieve yet. She stood up, realizing that she hadn't put her trunk away yet. The thing was just standing there like it was unloved, which, of course, was very untrue as Frost felt that even inanimate objects had feelings.

She stood up from her comfortabe spot and gently slid the trunk under the her seat. The girl stared at Bella's trunk. "Do you need any help with that?" She pointed to the big case she had brought. And although Frost was obviously not the strong type, she would still offer help. Just in case she actually needed it.

"What do I have planned? Well, I was thinking about burning the school down. Maybe flooding the dungeons. Throwing a kick ass party." A small smile played on the corners of her lips as she spoke. Of course, she was only joking. Kinda. "I'm only kidding. I won't burn down the school, or flood the dungeons. The kick ass party though? Don't be surprised when one happens."

The kickass party she had just started planning was probably one that would happen at the end of their seventh year - she couldn't get expelled then, right? Even still, Blackburn wouldn't expel her for a simple party would he? Well, it wouldn't be a simple party. It would be the best party Hogwarts has ever seen, one to go down in history. Oh how she could see it now. There would be muggle streamers, and those wet start fireworks she had seen around. And enough butterbeer to fill a swimming pool. No, three swimming pools. Now she just had to convince people to come.

Smiling at the fantasy her brain had dreamed up, she turned her attention back to the real world. "Hm? Oh, not thanks. It's not that heavy. Even with the contents of four trunks inside it." Getting up from the comfy seats, she slid her trunk underneath where she had been sitting just as Frost had done.

"What do you think, a kickass party to start off the new year hm?" Tease laced itselfs through her voice, and the playful smile on her face was a dead giveaway to the fact that she was joking. Or at least, sorta joking. If anyone was to throw a major party in the school, it would be her. Maybe just not yet though.

Fiddling with a loose thread on the end of her muggle shirt, she thought about what the new school year would hold for her. She had to question, would the masked man be back? Her encounter with him had been nothing more than unpleasant, and nothing less than hot. After all, he had set her on fire. Like, what? She wasn't a Hufflepuff. Had the emerald of her tie not been clear enough to him? Even so, she knew that no matter how dangerous, ghastly or scary the school year might be, she'd still enjoy it nonetheless. After all, what was life without a bit of adventure?

Bella, well based on how she laughed like it was a joke, was teasingly talk about a party. A special 'kick-ass' party it seemed. Well at least she wasn't going to actually burn the school down or flood it. But Frost was content just seeing the other girl excited for the school year to start.

Four trunks? Four whole trunks could fit into just one? Now that was wonderful magic if she had ever seen it.  The girl smiled at the other. "Wow, four whole trunks? Now that's some real magic." She joked, of course. And obviously there was some charm to make four fit into one. Magic had magic things for almost everything. Though, it always amazed her when even the simplest of spells could do something that was, at least in her mind, extraordinary.

"Yeah! A party doesn't sound too bad." Well that was if nobody exploded during said party. Not that Frost was one for huge parties like that, despite her good nature with people skills. She was more the type of girl to sit down and appreciate what she had without making it loud or with a big bang. But, then again, parties were usually fun.

While most of the people the ginger knew were quiet and quite shy to say the least, she herself wasn't one of that nature. And it seems like Bella wasn't one like that either. It was a rather nice feeling to know that there are other people who aren't afraid to speak up or just even socialize. Frost smiled her smile at the bruntette girl in front of her. She was definitely a change from the quiet non-socializing type. A good one at most.

Seeing as the train ride back to Hogwarts was something one could only do once a year, maybe more under different circumstances, Frost would try to make this one memorable. This would be the special compartment that was her favorite numer seven where strangers would get to know each other a little bit more and become a little more than strangers. And Bella was a good person to get to know better. After all, she didn't know her very well, despite seeing her a few times before.

So, the redhead girl sat back down on her seat, legs folded in the 'criss-cross' postition. She would observe the girl across from her as she fiddle with a loose thread. "So, Bella," She started. "Tell me about yourself. You seem interesting, well certainly not boring. That is, if you don't mind telling me." There was something about Frost that allowed her to always be polite even when she didn't need to. She's quite strange to say the least.

Raising an eyebrow, she looked over at the red head. "About myself? Well what would you want to know? Um, well I've been told I'm easy to get along with? I like most people. Except some. In my cabin at Summer Camp there were these two boys and I have never met worse mannered people in my entire life. They're both absolute flobberworms they are. I don't exactly know their names because I didn't bother to learn them and they aren't worth remembering but I refer to them as Ugly Hair 1 and 2 cause they both need haircuts. I think ones in Gryffindor and the others in Hufflepuff. And someone said something about one of them being ex head boy. I don't know how though, they're both so weird. I don't know what the professors were thinking when they made one of them head boy. I just hope it wasn't the worse one of the two - he made December leave the cabin I think, December Hale, after she had a fit because she had to share a cabin with them. I don't blame her, honestly. I ended up calling him a flobberworm to his face because he sucks."

A slight blush graced her cheeks after her little rant about the two idiots that she had spent the summer with, and she smiled an apologetic smile at the Hufflepuff. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rant. But what about you? I feel like we've talked lots but we don't actually know that much about each other."

It was true. Over the times they had spent together, they had not spoken about anything but what was happening at that time. They had never discussed their pasts, or what they wanted to do in the future. While she could call the ice-named girl her friend, she couldn't say she knew as much as a friend knew about someone who they called their friend.

"What do you wanna do in the future? What do you wanna be? There's not much that I actually know about you." Embarrassed by the lack of knowledge between the two, she asked the red head about what she wanted to do with her future. For all she knew, the fire haired girl with the ice name could want to work in a future full of earth and air - completing the quartet and making herself a girl of the elements.

The girl was taken aback a little bit by how much the other had to say about these two boys in her cabin. By the way Bella had described them, they seemed like the kind of people you would want to avoid. But, the boy in Hufflepuff that was the ex-head boy, that was Reid wasn't it? To Frost, he wasn't really that bad. I mean, sure he released a dragon, but that was an accident. But maybe he was different to Bella.

Flobberworm? The redhead couldn't help but giggle at that. She had never heard of calling someone a flobberworm. Not that she was one to call names or be overly judgmental. "Well, let's hope that the bad hair boys pull themselves together, hm? I probably haven't met them yet, but I hope they're different from then. Nobody likes a downer." Even though Bella had talked about them and made them seem horrible, Frost wouldn't judge them just yet. And hopefully, they would actually be nice instead of horrible.

The ginger would nod in agreement to Bella's statement. "I know. I feel the same. I would say that we've talked, but not really get to know each other." She would speak with a polite little smile across her face. "Oh, well, me?" Most would say that the young girl wasn't one with the best manners. And in all honesty, they wouldn't be wrong. You could see it in the way she talked and how she did things. Even how she was sitting now. Her narrow shoulders sloughed over and her legs in a crisscross manner. The girl sitting in front of her was different from the redhead. And that difference would definitely be like a highlighter, it would just scream at her that Frost wasn't very well mannered.

"I guess you could say that I'm no special snowflake. Despite my name." The smaller girl would snort, trying to contain her horrible hint of a pun. Ah, yes. Poorly mannered and immature. "Really, I am really just a regular ol', normal, average girl. Hm, let's see." Mentally, it was as if Frost was looking through folders for information that mattered. "Oh! I really like to garden. It's one of my favorite hobbies, honestly. My grandmother always told me that I had a green-thumb." She tucked a strand of auburn hair behind her ear.

The short girl would wonder about the girl sitting directly in front of her. What could be hiding under those bright blue eyes and fairly long brunette waves? Her air of tenaciousness could surely be felt by anyone who encountered her. She just seemed so open to the world that surrounded her. "Ah, we don't know much about each other that's true. But this is the place to start." Frost smiled a warm smile at Bella.

"I think in the future, I want to be someone that helps out people or animals. Like a healer or something. I'm not too sure about the future, honestly. There's still so much time for me to grow and change, you know." It was safe to say that she had a long way to go before she would know for sure who she wanted to be. Change can happen wherever and whenever. So until that glorious day when she was certain about who she was supposed to be, Frost would keep her mind and options open.

The ginger would snap her head back up to look intently into the blue ones of Bella. "Oh! Sorry, I've just been talking about me this whole time. What about you? Do you know what you want to be yet? What about your hobbies?" Frost was genuinely curious to know. But when had she ever not been curious? Especially when it came to getting to know someone.

The train was well on its way to Hogwarts when Parcel started his rounds. He had made sure to change into his school uniform before he started. It was a tedious and long task to patrol the train and Parcel would really hate it if he wasn’t ready when they arrive at the Hogsmeade station.

It felt quite good to be back in his old uniform, while it had only been a bit over a month without them, it almost felt like a part of him was missing without them. Parcel chuckled to himself, its weird how a school could feel more like home then home, only after a year.

Compartment check” Parcel said for the god knows how many times as he opened the compartment door. For a train that was usually tightly packed, Parcel was surprised to find only two students in this compartment. “Oh… its you He said with a sterner expression as he noticed a Slytherin girl he had met at the summer camp.

I’m here to make sure no one does any funny businesses” Parcel took his eyes away from the Slytherin girl and looked over the other girl. He didn’t think he had seen her before, or, maybe in class, he was pretty sure she was in the same year as him, but he couldn’t think of what class, so he couldn’t come up with what house she was from. Probably another Slytherin, they liked to plot their foul schemes together after all.

Well, you haven’t harassed any more boys, have you Isabella?” Parcel looked back to Bella after nodding a hello to the girl he didn’t know. “You know, I’m a prefect now, so if I see you throwing around insults I can send you to detention, maybe you can wash the flobberworms for the Cares Professor or something, I know you have a crush on them”

Parcel wasn’t usually a spiteful person, but after being called Flobberworm the whole damn summer camp he was okay with not liking Bella all that much.

We'll all die one day, but all other days we won't

“Harassed any more boys? Excuse you, I’m not the one who made a girl run out of the cabin crying. It was both you and your friend with the ugly hair. And plus, you made the Towers girl cry. Why do you have to be so nasty?” Laughing a cold laugh, and giving the boy - now prefect as he said - a nasty glare, she stood up to make herself a near even height with him . So, at least, he wouldn’t be towering over her.

In her mind, she was running over who could of possibly been crazy enough to make this brainless flobberworm a prefect. A wild thought jumped into her head, pushing all the other ones away. Surely, he would be above confounding, or possibly even Imperuising? He was only eleven, twelve. Kids her age didn’t do that sort of stuff. But even so, the stories she had heard about the start of Voldemorts reign of terror were not entirely pretty. If he could do it at such a fragile age, why should this boy standing in front of her not?

Surely, it was a dumb idea. Imagining anyone her age, even him, growing up into Voldemort 2.0 was absurd. But there was always that chance…

Shaking the thoughts out of her head, she threw another insult at the boy. She didn’t want to think about anyone she knew, even the most foul person she had ever had the misfortune to meet, becoming so heartless.

I’m not afraid of you. So what, you’re a prefect now? I’ve always wanted to see what happens to prefects when they go throwing their weight around and abusing your power. Careful your head doesn’t get too big, it’ll be too heavy for your shoulders soon.” The words coming out of her mouth shocked even her. Usually, she’d never been this mean. Especially not to someone in a position of power. It seemed as though her hatred towards this vile boy was bigger than her want to be kind.

But, she guessed, there were just some people in the world you couldn’t help but be mean to.

Taking a deep breath and trying to compose herself, she tried again. “Look, I don’t want to fight with you. It’s just a waste of both my time and energy. But if you’re going to come in here and throw your weight around, trying to make me scared of you, there’s the door. Just know that I don’t tolerate bullies - no matter what position of power they may be in.

She indicated towards the door as she spoke, making it clear he was not welcome here. Her voice had a kinder tone to it, but you could still hear her hate coming through if you listened hard enough.

"Hello Mr. Prefect, sir!" Legs still crossed and in her seat, Frost waved at the prefect who had come to check in on the compartment. It was a rather tall looking boy, but his expression went stern when he saw Bella. The way he spoke to her was cold, it was an obvious pointer that maybe he and her brunette friend didn't have the best relationship as of late. "Wha- Bella who is-" But the rest of her sentence got cut off.

Harassing boys? Flobberworms? What on Earth was he going on about? One second, she and Bella were talking about hobbies and kickass parties, the next there's some boy talking about her friend and flobberworm crushes. She laughed quietly at 'flobberworms'. In all honesty, that fact that anyone could dislike Bella concerned her. But people were people and could chose what they wanted to feel about a person, so she couldn't really blame him for just being himself.

Maybe when Bella spoke her response, she would be her mostly mature enough self and not be sour to him, like he had to her. Or at least she hoped she would. And that was probably the reason why her jaw nearly dropped to the floor when Frost'd brunette friend replied the way she did. 'Bella that wasn't very nice, even if you don't like him.' What she should have said in the moment but it just came out as the first few words of the sentence before she got cut off by an extra cold response again from Bella. Honestly, it shook her up. The redhead had never expected such words to come out of her. And Frost didn't know who this dude was!

Wait a second, ugly haired friend? Cabin girl crying? Was this- was that the boy who literally only a few minutes they were talking about? It honestly surprised her. The boys from Frost's experience of summer camp were fairly nice, but Bella wasn't kidding about her not liking him. "Bella is that-" She paused her sentence to whisper the rest, not wanting to upset him further. "Is that 'Ugly Hair' from your summer camp?" The ginger turned her head to face him and tilted her head, staring at his hair. In her opinion, it didn't look ugly. The boy's hair looked quite nice, not ugly at all, though maybe had quite a messy look to it, but that didn't make the brown strands ugly. "But his hair looks- not ugly."

At the indication for him to leave, Frost almost frowned. He couldn't just leave without someone saying sorry, even if it wasn't Bella. But even though her friend didn't like him, the girl found it hard to dislike him too. She didn't even know him! How was she supposed to dislike someone she didn't know, just because her friend didn't approve of them? "I'm sorry mister 'I can't remember your name'. If you would like to leave now then that's okay. It would just make you and Bella be more tense." Her pale hands folded in her lap. She knew Bella was probably not going to apologize, so she did. Even though she did absolutely nothing. "If you leave, I hope you feel less tense!" Frost gave him a bright smile, like how she always did to put people at ease.
