It’s always said that the time flew like water. Lindsey believed it now. She’s already eleven years old this year and it’s the time for her to get to Hogwarts.
“Hey, do sit with us, Lynn, it’s gonna to be fun and I can introduce my dear little sister to my friends! You are sure to be sorted into Gryffindor, aren’t you?” Edmund offered this when getting on the train with Lindsey.
“Well, OK…” Lindsey replied in a low voice. She’s a bit nervous today so didn’t look as courageous as she used to be. Sitting with people older than you wasn’t a good thing, cause she’d lost a chance of making new friends. Nor bad, either. Who said friends must be limited in your house and grade? And, she’s really curious about Ed’s friends. Thinking this, Lindsey followed Edmund on the train.
Scarlet…Gold…There were three boys sitting in one coach, waiting for her brother. Ed introduced her to them, and they greeted Lindsey warmly and friendly. “They are really nice.” Thought Lindsey.
Yeah, nice they were, but noisy. The four boys started pranking each other as soon as the train left. They casted spells, threw chocolate frogs——Lindsey was nearly shocked. This wasn’t the smart, understanding, and well-behaved Edmund Springhall whom she knew well at all.
“Ed,” Lindsey said to her brother at last, no longer able to stay with these three Gryffindor 3rd years and watched their pranks. “I…I do like pranks (and that’s true), but may I go and search for some new students like me? I hope to find some friends you know.” She said determinedly.
“Who said you couldn’t?” Edmund laughed. “Did I? Hope you can make some lifelong friends like me, Linnie!” He patted on her shoulder.
Lindsey walked out, and randomly opened a door. There was only one student sitting in it, and looked like a first-year too.
“Hi! May I sit here?” She asked politely.
Lindsey smiled as she believed that a new friendship of hers began…

Mornings were not Lizzie's favorite time of day. In fact, they ranked close to last, right above lunch. So when she was woken at seven am on September first, she was not exactly a happy camper. She took her sweet time getting out of bed and getting ready for the day, almost completely oblivious to the fact that she would be departing for Hogwarts later. It wasn't until approximately nine that her mother gently reminded her that the train left at exactly eleven that the weight of the situation hit Lizzie.

She hadn't packed her trunk yet. With more curses than an eleven-year-old should know flying out of her mouth, the red-head wildly sprinted to her room. What was she supposed to pack?! Oh, where was the list that came with her acceptance letter? Why couldn't she find anything?! Groaning loudly, she was just about ready to admit defeat, when she noticed the telltale cream parchment sticking out from behind her dresser. How did it get there? No one would ever know. Lizzie's room was considered the "Bermuda rectangle" in the Callaghan house.

The hour and forty-five minutes were spent rushing around her room and the house desperately collecting everything she was going to need for her first year at Hogwarts. Needless to say, her older brother, Sean, who was a fifth year, found it quite funny that she had not packed her trunk the day before. Having done the exact same thing his first year, he had made a bet with their mother as to whether or not she would pack the day before. He was now two galleons richer.

-----
At exactly 10:45, the Callaghan last member of the Callaghan family stepped into the fireplace, their mother having decided it was enough of a special day to use the floo powder. As always, their father was awestruck, as he had been a muggle his whole life, only being introduced to magic when he married a witch.

Appearing on the platform, Sean wasted no time in saying goodbye to their parents and younger sister, Alani, before swiftly boarding the train. Lizzie, on the other hand, lingered, hugging both her parents and Alani and promising to write every day. "Byeeee~" she called over her shoulder, looking back at her family. She took a deep breath as she faced the train, and slowly boarded it, suddenly nervous.

Because she had been fairly early to the platform, it was easy to find an empty compartment to settle in. It took a couple of tries for her to heft her trunk onto the rack, but it got done in the end, and she curled up on the seat, her sketchbook clutched close to her chest. She was planning to do some sketching during the train ride, as she assumed she was going to be alone the whole time, but then the compartment door slid open. A brunette stood there and inquired, “Hi! May I sit here?”

Absolutely delighted to have someone to talk to, Lizzie cheerfully exclaimed, "Go ahead! I'm Lizzie, by the way." She set her sketchbook down beside her, realizing that she would no longer need it. She now had someone to converse with. Things were looking better by the minute.

Making Friends with @Lizzie Callaghan

“Thanks!” Lindsey smiled to the girl as she sat done. “By the way, my name’s Lindsey and it’s really nice to meet you!”
Lindsey was really glad to find a friend on the train. Most of the students got acquainted during their first trip to Hogwarts according to her elder brother Edmund and made life-long friends with others. Also, Lizzie seemed really nice and friendly.
“Um, which house do you think you’ll be sorted into, Miss——” Lindsey remembered she didn’t know Lizzie’s surname. Also, she preferred to call others by given names. However, being an English girl with a quarter of French blood and a quarter of Chinese blood in her body, she was taught to be polite.
“May I call you Lizzie?” She smiled.
“Sure!” Lizzie replied merrily.
“Well actually I’m expecting Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. My elder brother’s in Gryffindor. So was my maternal grandparents. Ravenclaw is not bad though. My parents, paternal grandfather and uncle were all from there. My mom said I would be a Hufflepuff and, I sort of agree with her…” Lindsey said gayly.
No one was in Hufflepuff yet in her family. Some of the Springhalls studied in Beauxbatons but most of the ones who came to Hogwarts were Ravenclaws——well, except her brother and maternal grandparents. It’s not bad to be the first Springhall in a Hufflepuff. Lindsey said to herself.
She turned to Lizzie. “Anyway, which house do you think you’ll be sorted into Lizzie?”
Lindsey smiled, while waiting for her new friend’s reply.

Lizzie listened intently as the other girl introduced herself as Lindsey and continued speaking about what house she thought she'd be sorted into. She couldn't decide if she liked the girl though. On one hand, Lindsey seemed to talk as much as Lizzie, herself, but on the other hand, that might not be a good thing. Lizzie had never met someone who talked as much as she did, so she was quite perplexed.

From what it sounded like, Lindsey was either going to be a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. To Lizzie, she seemed pretty Hufflepuff, although she had known the girl all of maybe five minutes, so who was she to be making those decisions?

“Anyway, which house do you think you’ll be sorted into Lizzie?” Lindsey inquired, smiling at Lizzie.

Returning the smile, Lizzie hesitated. She hadn't really put much thought into what house she'd be. Her brother, Sean, was a Gryffindor, and her mom had been a Ravenclaw, but now that she thought about it, she was pretty Hufflepuff like. Sean was convinced she was going to be a Gryffindor though. She almost hoped she'd be a Hufflepuff, just to spite him.

"I'm not really sure. I think I'm pretty Hufflepuff like," she started, after a couple of seconds of intense thinking. "But my brother thinks I'm going to be a Gryffindor. I can't tell whether it's because he's in Gryffindor, or because he actually thinks I'm a Gryffindor." She shrugged nonchalantly, shifting in her seat so that she was leaning against the wall. "But I hope I'm a Hufflepuff if you're a Hufflepuff so we can be in the same house!"

Interacting with @Lizzie Callaghan

Lindsey smiled. “Well, I think we could still be great friends if we are sorted into the different houses! But Gryffindor, ah, to tell you the truth, my brother actually hopes I’m a Gryffindor too——interesting, isn’t it?” She laughed.
“Actually you could call me Lynn, my family and friends do that.” Lindsey said to Lizzie. “Our names’ pronunciations are alike, and Lynn makes some difference.” She smiled.
Lizzie was really nice, and outgoing, too. She’s the first one Lindsey met on the train and it’s probably the best thing till now.
I have a friend now. Lindsey thought. When she was young, she spent most of her time with her brother. Her parents sent her to a non-magical (Lindsey hated saying “muggle”) primary school when she’s six. She made some friends there but any of them were not wizards. That’s sort of bad, because she couldn’t show her magic and talk spells with them. Lizzie’s the first peer that was like her and Lindsey really hope that they could be sorted into the same house.
“Well, let’s meet by the Great Lake tomorrow evening if we’re not sorted into the same house OK?” Lindsey said. “But I do hope this meeting will not happen, though!”

I’ll make up a private thread by the Great Lake after you response!

OOC: Well, I’m quite new to this site too and I learnt to tag people when rp from some old users. If you tag others in a post their rememberall will turn red and they could notice your post. You just need to @+someone’s names and there will come out labels with names you might want to tag.

The names will probably come out after you type half of the name. If the labels don’t come out, try again!

Lizzie nodded. She was sure they could still be friends if they weren't sorted into the same house. From what she'd heard from her brother, he had friends in almost every house and was able to talk to all of them because he had a lot of free time or something like that. She found it hard to believe that he had enough time between studying and classes to hang out with people, but sorta figured that he could study and hang out at the same time. She had a feeling she'd been doing a lot of that. One thing really stood out to her though: that Lindsey had a brother also in Gryffindor.

"You have a brother in Gryffindor too?!" she commented, disbelief lacing her voice. That was such a coincidence. "I wonder if our brothers know each other..." She could only imagine the shenanigans that could happen if their brothers were friends and Lindsey --err... Lynn-- and she were friends. It was also pretty cool that her name and Lindsey's were similar. Well, they weren't if she used the other girl's nickname, but both of their real names were similar. Brothers in Gryffindor, first years, both very outgoing, and alike sounding names. No wonder they were fast friends. They had alot in common.

With a laugh and a nod, Lizzie tried to commit the time and location of their possible meeting to memory. In the case that they were sorted into different houses, she didn't want to lose her first friend at Hogwarts. A glance out the window showed the landscape slowing down,a clear sign that they were nearing their destination. "Well then, Lynn," she started. "I hope to not see you tomorrow evening at the great lake!"

And just like that, the train ride was over. It had gone by so quickly. Maybe that was because she'd been too busy talking to her new friend. Or it was just a quick train ride. She wouldn't know for sure, until the ride home at the end of the year.

Awesome, thanks! another question: what's the deal with the "interacting with Lizzie Callaghan" you put at the top of your post? is that mainly for group rps? or is it just so the tag isn't just floating up at the top of your post? do you need it there?

Lizzie's ears pricked up when Lindsey mentioned her brother hoped she was in Gryffindor also. "You have a brother in Gryffindor too? I wonder if they know each other..." she commented thoughtfully. How funny would it be if they were friends and their brothers were friends?

“Actually you could call me Lynn, my family and friends do that. Our names’ pronunciations are alike, and Lynn makes some difference." Lindsey, or Lynn, continued, smiling. Lynn did make much more of a difference between the pronunciations of their names. “Well, let’s meet by the Great Lake tomorrow evening if we’re not sorted into the same house OK? But I do hope this meeting will not happen, though!”

"Well then, Lynn," Lizzie chuckled. "I hope to not see you tomorrow evening at the great lake!" Not only was Lynn nice, but she had a sense of humor too. Lizzie highly appreciated anyone who had a sense of humor, because so many people didn't, and then it was just plain awkward when they didn't get a joke.

Lizzie couldn't believe how quickly the train ride had gone by. It felt like it had been mere seconds since she'd said goodbye to her family and Lynn had entered the compartment. Hogwarts, here I come, she thought, a small smile on her face.

She smiled to her own self. They were friends, fast friends, and what if their brothers were friends…that would be really interesting. How lucky she was! She had decided that they had a lot in common, and they would definitely become friends…no best friends! They had been friends already, right?

“Yeah me too.” She answered. “Better we could meet in the common room together instead of the Lake! Though I really want to explore the castle sometimes. It looks fun!”

Her eyes sparkled. Just imagine, one day, she could explore the whole castle with Lizzie…so cool. She loved cool things, well, actually all kids loved them. Though pretty calm, Lindsey was always eager to find new adventures.

She could feel that the train was slowing down. Were they near the destination? Maybe. She was eager to see Hogwarts, and the boat ride! First years had a lot of things to do——at least Edmund said so. The scenery was good, and Lynn enjoyed it.

She just couldn’t wait for the sorting…but still, was a bit nervous. She hoped she could eventually be sorted into the house Lizzie was in. Callaghan started with a “C”, but Springhall with a “S”. So Lizzie would be sorted first. Guess she had to beg the hat to sort her in the same house as Lizzie.

Lindsey smirked. She really enjoyed the time, and, she just found herself a friend. Unbelievable. Really.

Hogwarts was indeed the place that all the dreams started.
