Constantine carefully slid open the compartment door, peering through the glass to see if it was in use. There was no one inside, for better or worse, he wasn't quite certain. However, it was fairly lucky of him to snag an empty compartment, considering the amount of students arriving by train. Boarding was still in process, so Constantine suspected that he'd be joined by another student in a matter of moments. The boy pulled the door back in place, before inspecting the area. It was far cleaner than the muggle trains he had been on, however no less compact. Sitting himself down on the surprisingly plush seat, next to the window, he pulled a book from his bag: 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them'. It was a worn copy, thoroughly thumbed through despite the option to buy a neater one at Diagon Alley.

Surprisingly, he'd been so invested in his book that he hadn't noticed that the train had begun it's journey. Balancing the book on his lap, Constantine gazed out of the window. The train was moving quite fast, the landscape whizzing by in a green and blue blur. He could hear the soft chug of the locomotive as it sped along the tracks, eager to reach it's destination. Constantine turned his attention to the numerous empty seats in his compartment. It appeared that the journey would be a long one. Burying himself back into the pages of his book, Constantine hoped that it would last the entire trip -
he hadn't brought much else in the way of entertainment. Regardless, he'd try to enjoy it whilst he could, as he was rather nervous about starting his new adventure at Hogwarts.

Asteria gently slid the door of compartment number eight shut and began her journey down the train in search of another place to sit. Her previous compartment was comprised of two other girls, they welcomed her in, and even allowed her in on their conversation. However, Asteria didn't really have much to add in on seeing as while she was a Quidditch fan, she herself never actually played a game of it in her life. After awhile, she thought it were best to see herself out instead of feeling awkward.Slowly, Asteria looked around at the other compartments as she searched for another area. Just about all of them were crowded, and the ones that weren't had students that wanted to sit alone.

Left and right, boys and girls all headed to the same destination sat together, the sounds of chatter filled the train as it chugged along the railway toward Hogwarts. Laughter rang out loud from all sides, and some students decided it was a good idea to flood the trolley looking for sweets to eat along the way. Asteria held on the the sides of the train with one hand as it bounced along the tracks, while her other hand had her luggage. She wondered to herself just how long the ride would be, just how far away was Hogwarts, she never thought to ask her family that much.

Asteria opened the door to a new part of the train, this area held more first and second years than the previous parts did. This gave some comfort to Asteria, she felt liked she'd fit in more here, still it was quite crowded all the same. Finally, after what felt like ages Asteria found a compartment that wasn't full, Compartment #16 was written on the door in golden letters. Taking a deep breath, Asteria slid the door back a little and knocked. Sitting in the compartment was a boy who looked to be her age, dirty blonde hair sat awry on top of his head, and he seemed to be reading a book. It looked old from where she stood, "Hello," Asteria said in a kind voice, she pushed back some of her flaming red hair, as her green eyes looked from the book to the boy, "it's really crowded, and I was wondering if it would be alright if I sat here with you?" 'Please say yes, please say yes.' ran threw her mind as she waited for an answer. She really didn't want to search the train forever for a seat, or end up sitting with the other years.

The boy looked around, hearing a light knock. His gaze settled on a red haired girl, who had hesitantly pushed the door ajar, if only a little. Constantine lowered the book yet again, however he didn't close it. He was surprised to see someone this far into the journey, considering they'd set off from the platform quite the while ago. Perhaps she hadn't found a compartment yet? Looking over her, she seemed alone, like he had been whilst getting onto the train. It definitely was difficult finding a compartment when everyone appeared to sit within their already established friend groups, Constantine had witnessed it firsthand as he'd searched for a compartment of his own.

"Good morning." Constantine replied back, with a dip of his head. She looked nice enough, and about his age as well. Maybe she was also heading towards her first time at Hogwarts too? "Oh, of course, be my guest." The boy beamed, gesturing towards the numerous free seats in the compartment. He was glad that some of the empty space would be taken up, as it was beginning to get rather bland on his own. "I'm Constantine Babbitt, it's nice to meet you." The boy introduced with a friendly smile, sticking out his left hand for her to shake, "And you are?" Constantine questioned. If they were going to be together for the remainder of the trip, he might as well drum up a decent conversation.

"Good morning." the boy replied after lowering his book to look at her, "Oh, of course, be my guest." "Thank you very much!" Asteria said with a smile, relieved at finally being able to sit down, Asteria opened the door  some more as she walked further in. After putting her luggage up in the area above her seat, Asteria closed the door behind her and sat down across from him, she truly hoped she wasn't interrupting his reading too much.  Getting herself settled in, she looked at the boy as he smiled,  "I'm Constantine Babbitt, it's nice to meet you." he stuck his hand out for her to shake, "And you are?" Returning his smile Asteria took his hand and shook it, "It's nice to meet you Constantine, my name is Asteria Hana!"

With that  Asteria felt that maybe this trip wouldn't be so bad, Getting a better look at the book, Asteria was able to see the title, 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them'. "Oh, you  like that book too I see," she said gesturing to his book. "I have mines as well. Although, I put mines in my luggage with my other books." Asteria was an avid reader, it was rare to see her without a book in fact, hopefully this will allow them to strike up a conversation. Long trips and silence just didn't go well together, she wondered if they would end up being friends by the end of this. "Do like reading books too? or is it the creatures that interest you most?" she asked curiously. Just about everyone she knew liked to read, but what they found interesting about the books are part of what differed.

Constantine watched as the girl, or Asteria as she had introduced herself, settled into the compartment. Deeming it rude to continue on reading, the boy folded the corner of his page, before closing the book. He'd been told not to do such a thing many times before, however he'd never used a bookmark in his life, and didn't intend to. Constantine thought that the crumpled edges gave it character, anyway. "It's one of my favourite to read." Constantine grinned, pleased that she had picked up on his choice.

He settled the book on his knee, placing a hand over it to keep it there. "I do like to read, anything I can get my hands on really, but I'm particularly fond of those that write about magical creatures." He admitted cheerily. When he was younger, he'd read just about anything that was given to him, but his taste in books had recently developed into an interest of non-fiction. Though, he wouldn't pass up a good adventure novel if it happened to come by. "I take it you like to read as well? I've heard that the library at Hogwarts is truly impressive." Constantine added with interest. He was excited to see such a sight, and marvel in the sheer range of books they could provide.

"Are you nervous? Y'know, about being sorted, and all that." The boy asked curiously. He wondered if Asteria came from a family that had been in a certain house for generations, or if they were a mixed bag, similar to his own family. The idea of being sorted based on particular qualities frightened him a bit, but he was sure that he'd fit in wherever he was placed. Or at least, that's what he'd like to believe.

"It's one of my favourite to read." Constantine replied to Asteria's question, "I do like to read, anything I can get my hands on really, but I'm particularly fond of those that write about magical creatures." He further explained. Asteria understood perfectly; while she loved reading any and all books, the ones that drew her in the most were mainly about the heroes in the story books some would say, be they witches, wizards, or even muggles. She loved reading about people who have done great things, good things, it always fascinated her. "I take it you like to read as well? I've heard that the library at Hogwarts is truly impressive." Asteria smiled and nodded, "Oh yes, I love to read, it's rare for me to be seen without at least one book in my hand." She answered.

"The only reason I don't have a book out now is because I don't want to lose any. But I can't wait to see the school library, my mum and dad told me all about it, an endless supply of books they said!" Just thinking about the library of Hogwarts brought her both great curiosity and joy. "Are you nervous? Y'know, about being sorted, and all that."
Asteria gave an uncertain look at the question. Of course she was nervous, she's been nervous about it ever since she got her letter. "Well," Asteria began  "kind of, most of my father's family has been in nothing but Slytherin. Although dad was almost put into Ravenclaw, he ended up in Slytherin anyway. But my mum and her family is mostly made up of Gryffindor, with a few of them being in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff." If someone were to ask Asteria which house she would be in, Asteria wouldn't be sure. She had a general idea, but even then she wasn't 100% sure. Her mum and dad were an odd pairing to say the least, a Slytherin and a Gryffindor, but it made her want to know what house she'd be in even more. "What about you?" she asked in turn. "Are you nervous?"

Constantine smiled, listening to Asteria talk. She was enthusiastic about reading, far more than he was, though he was glad that he'd met someone who could appreciate a good book. The boy removed the book from his lap, placing it onto the seat beside him, so that he could fold one leg over the other. She'd added that her parents had mentioned the Hogwarts library - so that meant she was pure-blood, surely? Constantine wasn't really interested in if you were muggleborn or not, but it was nice to get a bit of background information on the people you were talking to.

When she asked the question back, he thought for a moment. "A bit." He admitted. There wasn't really anything for him to worry about, considering his family didn't favour a certain house. His brother insisted that Gryffindor was the best, but only because he had been sorted into it. His sister was the same, but she was a Slytherin. "I'm not really sure what house I'll be sorted in. But that's alright, because I'm sure I'll fit in, as long as I trust the sorting hat's judgement." Constantine added hopefully. "I won't be in Ravenclaw, though, that's for sure." He joked with a laugh. Whilst he did manage his studies fairly well, he was nowhere near logical enough to fit into that house.

"A bit." Constantine responded."I'm not really sure what house I'll be sorted in. But that's alright, because I'm sure I'll fit in, as long as I trust the sorting hat's judgement." Asteria listened to Constantine as he talked, she couldn't help but wish she could feel the same way. Most of her family, on her father's side have been doing everything in their power to prove to her the Slytherin is the 'superior' house of the four. Asteria and her parents however, didn't believe in such nonsense of course. They made sure that Asteria understood that they would love and support her no matter what. Still, it was rather annoying to have other people practically breathing down your back to make sure you get into they want you in.

"I won't be in Ravenclaw, though, that's for sure." he said with a laugh. Asteria joined him in laughing as said, "It's the opposite for me I think, Ravenclaw might fit me like a glove." She felt this was true to a point, she had the brains and logic for it, but there's also a part of her that strongly fit in with her mum's house, Gryffindor. "You know, I wonder what our professor's will be like. Not to be rude, but I hope we don't get stuck with any gits." Asteria admitted. The last thing she wanted, was a professor that was mean and treated their students horribly.

As she was about to say something else, she was interrupted by a knock and the compartment door sliding open. It was the sweet little old lady with the trolley full of sweets, she asked if they had wanted anything from the trolley. Asteria eyed some of the sweets thinking about what to get, she still had quite a bit of gold left from shopping for supplies and wanted to spend at least some of it. "What something from the trolley, Constantine?" she asked.

"Well, I know who I'll be coming to for help with my homework." Constantine joked with a laugh. In all honesty, the boy could complete his homework fairly well, that was if he ever remembered to turn it in on time. He was always late for something, but it didn't really bother him. The Professor issue had been a nagging at the back of Constantine's mind. When he'd briefly been situated in a muggle school, he'd met some right old geezers, and didn't want that again. "I hope not, as I get the feeling I won't get on well with the irritating ones. But my brother told me that when he went to Hogwarts, most of the teachers were bearable." Constantine explained, relieved.

He looked over to the door, which was now slid open, glass replaced with the face of a kind looking old woman. The trolley had been stocked full, piled with all sorts of sweets, some of which he'd never seen before. Constantine dug about in his pocket, pulling out a few spare coins. After glancing over the variety of treats, he settled his eyes on a Jelly Slug. "What are you getting, Asteria?" He questioned curiously, seeing if her decision would sway his mind on what he wanted to buy. The Chocolate Frogs were intriguing, but more so for the card inside than the chocolate. Plus, he wasn't really sure how they worked.

"Well, I know who I'll be coming to for help with my homework." Constantine said with a laugh. Asteria giggled along with him. Overall the train ride was going rather smoothly thankfully; Asteria was pleased at how well she was able to get along with Constantine. When she got on to the platform, Asteria had seen all the people their with their family and friends; it made her wonder if she would be able to make any friends at Hogwarts as well. Sure she had a few outside of Hogwarts of course, but that was kind of different. Asteria listened as Constantine shared his hopes for what kind of professor's we would have, "my brother told me that when he went to Hogwarts, most of the teachers were bearable." he finished.

"I'm a pure-blood, but I've been to muggle school; some of the teachers there were very nice, but others were  the biggest gits I ever saw." she said. Asteria remembered one teacher in particular, when she was 7 her math teacher, Mr. Pazowski was known for being an old, grumpy, and downright rude old man. Not even the parents took to him, Asteria heard one father of her then classmate say some very unkind words about him.Her father had cover her ears quickly, but not before Asteria caught about 2 or 3 of them. "What are you getting, Asteria?" Asteria heard Constantine say as she continued to decided what to get. "Hmm, it's going to be a long ride so..." she said taking out money pouch. "I think I'll get two chocolate frogs, one box Bertie Bot's every flavor Beans, and one pumpkin pasty please." she said, handing the old lady the money, waiting for Constantine to make his choice.

"Oh," Asteria said curious about her new found friend "you have a brother?" Asteria was an only child, she never had an older or younger sibling. That being said, she was always interested when it came to people and their siblings. She wanted to know what it was like to be a sibling, so she would sometimes asks about such things to get a better understanding. "What does he do?"
