Jane opened her mouth to negate what Lilith had said, to say that no, she wasn't a muggle-born, but the brooding girl had quickly started talking. She explained the rules to the game, but Jane still found herself a bit lost. What was a chaser? And a bludger? And a snitch? Evelyn helped a little, but then she had started talking about golf. All in all, Jane was still confused.
As Evelyn wrapped up her side of the conversation, Jane just found herself nodding, pretending like she understood every word both her and Lilith had said. She didn't want to seem stupid. What a rotten first impression that would be.
"Thanks," she said finally, reaching into one of the pockets in her robe and pulling out the wand she had received. Jane began twirling the thing between her fingers, not quite sure how it worked yet. "I don't really know much, but I'm not a muggle-born. I'm a half-blood."
Jane had grown up in Seaford, England. Her mother was a veterinarian and her father was a professor of biology at a local university. She had known of magic. Her father would mention it every now and then, but her family had lived without it. Her father never told her why he gave it up, why he didn't use the wand she had found in one of his dresser drawers while she was snooping one day. But she didn't really have any interest in that life until her letter had come.

Lilith shrugged. "Doesn't matter. Your blood won't change anything anyways."
As Jane got out her wand, Lilith's hand went into her pocket and sought out the strong aspen wand's smooth surface. Running her hand over it, the storm of blood brewing inside of her weakened, and eventually, dissipated. There was something comforting about having a wand.
"You'll learn more when you get to Hogwarts. There are a lot of students that go in not knowing anything at all and they all pick it up very fast."
Lilith has been around Muggles before, she understood them, but that didn't make talking to someone who has no knowledge of the wizarding world any easier. Lilith suspected that the half-blood, Jane, didn't know quite what she was talking about, but as she asked no questions on it, she moved past it.
It might be a tiny bit selfish, but Lilith liked having someone who knew less than her. She was helping them by giving them information, therefore she should feel some type of pride alas it's not about helping them, but feeling smarter herself. It shan't matter. No one knows what goes on inside her own mind but herself.
"Considering your lack of Quidditch knowledge, you probably don't know much on dueling then either? Or the Hogwarts houses and classes? You really must be missing out," Lilith said, looking at her nails with disinterest as she didn't notice any stale words that were coming out of her mouth.

Evelyn listened to their conversation. She slumped back into the bench, her head burrowed into the scarf that wound it's way around her shoulders. Fluffy like the fake foxes some people liked to wear. She was getting sleepy but kept her eyes open. Still a yawn stretched her throat as it tried to escape. Instead of being rude and interrupting though she clenched her teeth to let it die out. She heard about dueling and decided to insert herself again.
"First years don't tend to duel right away anyway. Unless you decide to get private lessons with a school professor, but most people don't. Dueling's just throwing spells at one another until somebody can't move. There's a bit of regulations so you don't kill each other but it's all in good fun. Most of the time. If you get on anybody's bad side they might challenge you to one though. Be careful then."
She shrugged. Evelyn had seen her father get challenged to a good number of duels. Therefore she was an avid fan of them. Especially his signature move, which was Serpensortia. It summoned a snake from the tip of the wand and was extremely effective. She didn't think they would appreciate her bragging about her father so she remained quiet about it.
