Kaegen Deathmote, ex prefect of Ravenclaw, walked down the narrow, winding mazes that made up the Hogwarts corridors, a frail little thing with skin that looked like a sickly wonton wrapper. Corpse-like and greyish white, the only thing that one could call color being the dark shadows under his greyish blue eyes. A bright red ring ran around the two pupils, spiking out into the grey like brave beams of light piercing the clouds on a particularly dismal day.

His hands were slender and his fingers were delicate and long, tipped with dirty, long fingernails that ended in dull points. His hair was a wreck, as was his too-big robe, and dirty smudged cape that looked like it was crafted from some kind of curtain. His grey scarf alone was reasonably clean, aside from a few smudgy streaks where he had used it to wipe his face.

People moved for Kaegen. Didn't matter how big, they moved out of the way. The younger kids ran away, moved into a door and waited for him to pass. The older ones simply kept their heads down. It didn't matter how quietly he walked, they knew he was there. They knew that he was far from human, and whispers of the monster, of the corpse child, warned those ahead of who was coming. No one wanted to stop and talk, or challenge him, or even be close enough to touch. A few dreamed of one day vanquishing this "evil" in front of their respective crushes, and securing coolness forever, but dreams would stay dreams.

Kaegen didn't really have a destination, he was just walking, and thinking, thinking about what he was supposed to do with himself. Thinking about how he didn't have a goal. And thinking about that, about his lack of purpose, made him hate just a little bit more with each passing minute.

Elena whistled as she walked, of course she often whistled, sometimes she even imagined it resonated, telling her whether or not the path ahead was clear. Although as she passed by a classroom she noticed that some people were acting unnaturally worried, the cause soon made itself known.

Kaegen Deathmote the tiny frail lookin' wonton wrapper of doom was strolling down the hall, well less strolling than skulking, it'd been a while since Elena'd been party to a good skulk but nonetheless everyone's reactions were strange.

A feeling that she should talk to him crept through Elena's nerves, although at the same time it took a minute to process the idea that he was someone she shouldn't run away from. It just made no sense to run away, he was at least almost a foot shorter than her by now, about the size Elena was when she came to Hogwarts, and didn't look like he had any muscles.

Elena herself didn't look like she had any muscles and was dangerous enough in a duel but that wasn't the point, and in any case it didn't feel like she should run away so onwards she went.

"Heya! Kaegen, over here." She said brightly, a huge difference from the slightly, or rather very terrified people around, her eyes sparkled with their usual confidence, "Been a while, how's the quest going?"

Loud.

That's how the corridors were. Always like that. Loud and obnoxious, even during class. Not that classes were at the same time, that was stupid. But still, the loud noises got to Millie. Everything got to her, it just depended on how long they took. Whether it be seconds, or even years, things that were once loving, were now hated, and vice versa.

But then things were quiet. Why had everything gone silent, for this wasn't a horror movie! Or any movie, if you thought about it. But thinking about movies wasn't something Millie wanted to do, she was curious as to why everyone had gone silent. People had began moving- rather quickly- for a boy who was rather small. At first, she was wondering if the boy was good at hexes or jinxes, but he looked nothing of the sort. Rather the contrary, the boy was really small, and looked to be an absolute mess. Though, Millie was tall. Everyone else in her eyes were tiny.

Then a girl, who she had seen in the corridors, called out to the boy. The girl in question was called Elena, or rather more, "Puck". Which was really weird because a puck was something you used mainly in sports- was this girl athletic? Gosh, there were so many questions, and so little answers.

However, Millie wasn't one to sit back and hope for answers, she was the type of idiot who would die with answers, than live with questions. Philosophy was a terrible option as a career, in her case. How could someone want to spark all these questions, and never find out answers.

Following in the other girls steps, Millie broke away from the crowd. The real key here, was to figure out how to ask her question politely. She had to hide her American accent, forget that, she sounded so rude in that accent, it was a shock as to why nobody avoided her just for that.

"Excuse me, Mister Kaegen, and Miss Elena," She paused for a moment, hoping she got both of their names right. "May I ask why these people are avoiding you?"

She spoke with a soft voice, which wasn't unusual for Millie, but she really hoped she didn't sound offensive. The girl had an affinity for doing so.

Griseldis Edelhardt, a very energetic Gryffindor girl, borrowed a book about different races from the Library this morning and was on her way back to her dorm room. Slightly tan skin gave people the impression that she loved outdoors, bathing underneath the sunlight most of the time. In her long chocolate hair had a lot of golden yellow stripes, and there were two braided swirly space buns on her head, looked very unusual for a hairstyle but quite unique in a good way. Pastel grey eyes always sparkled with excitement, felt ready for the new day to begin.

While walking in the corridors, Griseldis couldn't stop her own curiosity, so she opened the book in her hands and only focused on reading the pages in front of her but didn't see there were a few students ran away from someone or something that scared them on the path. Ever since she entered Hogwarts, she really wanted to meet at least one of the races and get to know them. She did encounter a few Half-Giants who were obviously too tall for an average kid and a few maybe part-Veela who looked too beautiful for a normal kid, but she never really got the opportunity to even say a simple "Hello" to them due to being in different classes.

She flipped a new page and it was a chapter about Dhampir, "Oh interesting...so they have greyish white skin...and...", without looking up from her book, seeing what was in front of her. She suddenly felt a strong bump at the shoulder, her book fell off her hands and dropped onto the ground. That was when she realized she accidentally bumped into someone for not paying attention where she was going. She turned around and found out it was a Ravenclaw boy, his appearance seemed to be quite...unique. Griseldis quickly apologized to him, "I'm such a Clutz! So sorry that I bumped into you like that, I really didn't mean to! Are you okay?"

River had gotten enough human interactions for the day, even though she’d barely spoken to anyone all day. Now all she wanted was some time for herself. Either with a book, or just simply to think. She felt like the days lately had been soooo slow, and time ticked past second by second, but each second felt like a minute. River’s eyes scanned the tiles on the floor as she hurried through the long stretching corridors of the grand castle of Hogwarts. Her black, untied, converse stepping intently through the groups upon groups of students.

Her red hair hung over her face, hopefully shielding her from anyone who’d like to start a conversation. All she currently wanted was to peacefully make her way to the library.
Groups of students around her were talking loudly and being obnoxious as usual, sometimes all she wanted was to hit them in the face... still, River was absolutely not known for her physical strength. Her short and scrawny looking body was thin and not used to any heavy lifting at all. Perhaps a Jinx would be the best bet?

Perhaps River was imagining things, but the corridor seemed quiet, for once. River slowed down a little. It at least more quiet than usual. The only sounds to be heard were a few whispers, and the faint sound of footsteps here and there. Why did it go so quiet? River got worried if it was her who people had noticed, but it wasn’t usual for people to react like this to her presence.

She continued walking, her head bent down even more now. Before she had gotten too far, she accidentally bumped into a student, River’s head turned up quickly as she said with an annoyed tone of voice, «Excuse me, I’m trying to...», Her voice trailed off as she saw who she had bumped into. «Oh, sorry Euphrasia». River had absolutely nothing against Euphrasia, actually, she was one of the few people River actually liked quite well around here.

As River had looked up, she realized Euphrasia was already in conversation with someone else. River sent the two other students a quick glance. She had seen both of them around, and of course shemd heard of Kaegen before. Was there even a single student who hadn’t?Apparently, he too had just been bumped into by some other girl, River had seen her around too.

The Red-Head could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand up slightly, as something about Deathmote‘s presence made her feel... strange.
«Hello», she said coldly to the two other students, with a careful nod.
Wondering if she should just get out of there and quickly get to the library.

Kaegen's stare was piercing, focused. It was accented by shadows that seemed to writhe about around him. The torches almost seemed to flicker, as if they, too, were scared of this little boy. He hated this, all of this. He focused on the hate, and clawed a handhold. It was all he had, the closest thing to a purpose he could find. Hate propelled him when nothing else could, and that in itself was something he hated. But the girl didn't flinch, didn't care. She walked right up to him and asked how the quest was going. What quest? He didn't know, and that bothered him.

Not only that, but he should know this girl, he even sort of remembered her. Her scent, at least, was pretty recognizable. That muggle-ish smell that came from her hair permeated the room. Was it from the color in her hair? He didn't know, but he didn't like it. Where had he smelled that before? The bathroom? Why was he thinking of the bathroom?

"Why are you-"

His voice was quiet and hoarse, but dangerous, sharpened to a fierce edge that again was lost on the girl in front of him. She didn't recognize what he was, the terror that practically reverberated in waves from his body. It was almost as though she lacked fear. But the boy didn't notice, he didn't think it was especially odd that someone wasn't scared of him, after all, the professors weren't.

He had stopped midway through his question when he had been interrupted by a girl who did seem to be scared, or at least nervous. She called him mister, and the girl in front of him was called Elena. That name, too, sounded vaguely familiar. But only vaguely. The new girl was asking why people were avoiding him. That was a pretty easy question to answer, and one that made sense. They were scared, scared of what he might do. They knew he was better, stronger.

"They know I-"

Again he was interrupted, this time by a body bumping in to his own. Kaegen had slowly been building up a bubbling pot of hate, but it was too small to withstand the tidal wave of cold fear that washed away all his anger in an instant, the fear that made him leap to the side, away from the bump, towards the wall. The fear that made his arm jerkily spasm towards his sleeve, the fear that made the little boy's pupils lash out towards the outer rim of his eyes like living, amorphous blobs of ever expanding ink.

In his mind, he had been attacked. He heard an apology, he heard someone say they didn't mean to, but they sounded far away, hazy. He wasn't sure if he should listen to that someone, or if he should keep going, reach farther into the sleeve where he knew his little knife was waiting to be clasped. He could see a redhead standing where he had been just a second ago. It was obvious that she was the one that had attacked him. Should he strike? But what about the other two, what would they do?

He crouched low, preparing to leap away should someone approach him. He wasn't going to die here. He was going to make it out, he was going to escape and live another day. How long had it been, since the last attack? A month? A week? A day? He couldn't remember. All he knew is that this was another one, and it was happening right then.

Wait, there was someone else there, too. Someone he didn't know. An ally of the brown haired attacker? Probably. He would have to keep an eye on her if he chose to attack, which he was becoming increasingly convinced was a bad idea.

Elena watched another girl arrived and looked slightly annoyed that she'd shown up, "Your quest, remember? You said that you were going to kill all the monsters so how's that going?"

Someone bumped into Kae, causing Elena to wince, he was getting overcrowded as much as she was, also he looked terrified of the new one and her eyes flicked to the person who'd bumped into him, then back to Kaegen, "Damn it, you want to go somewhere else? Somewhere less... people-y. I have some chocolate frogs if you want one. Never hurts to make a friend, or well it does but it's also worth it if you find a good one."

Elena leaned on the wall near where he crouched, effectively making herself relatively vulnerable to a Kaegen attack. That was sure to either garner trust or a stab wound, or left her out of the way.

"They're avoiding him because looking at him makes them scared." Elena stated, "Almost got to me too, like being hit by cold water, but I'm made of sterner stuff, could never bring myself to be scared, it's easier to pretend not to be."

Thoughts jetted through her mind rather quickly, reasons, thoughts, what Kaegen might be thinking. Elena glanced down at the kid, "They can tell he's dangerous."

Trying to apologize to the Ravenclaw boy in front of her, she noticed how hostile he looked and saw how he slowly reached his hand into the sleeve as if he was ready to take something out. Even though Griseldis was fearless, she could still feel the presence around them became colder and darker. Maybe he didn't believe me that it was an accident and thought I did it on propose. The Gryffindor girl thought and she didn't really blame him for it, it was her fault at first for not paying attention to her surroundings. She decided to apologize to him once more, she took a deep breath and bowed down to him showing she really meant no harm, her voice full of sincerity, "I AM REALLY REALLY SORRY!! I DIDN'T WANT TO HURT YOU!!!", the Gryffindor girl's apology was so loud that the entire corridors could clearly hear each word she said.

Griseldis slowly looked up at him, to see how he would react to her second apology, but then, she was surprised there were other three other girls standing near them as well. Why didn't she notice that sooner!? Her face quickly turned really red like a fresh tomato, her hands clapped her heated cheeks. Did she just embarrass herself in front of all of them? She didn't really know any of these girls yet, one was a Slytherin, a Ravenclaw, and a Gryffindor, Oh! she did see her a few times in the Gryffindor common room though. She remembered her friend Alan did mention her before, her name was Millie? Maybe?

Griseldis kneeled down to pick up her book from the ground and gently patted the dirt on the cover away with her hand, then she turned to face them again, "I'm sorry if I interrupted your conversation, I'm Griseldis Edelhardt, my friends used to call me Gris in short, hehehe...", she briefly introduced herself to them all with a small smile and bowed to them politely, her face still a bit red of embarrassment. But since she didn't want to disturb them, she should head back to her dorm room soon.

Interacting with everyone
Raine walked through the corridors, more like speed walking through them, as she saw a group of people avoiding one section of corridor and another smaller group that looked like a bunch of girls surrounding something. Or someone. She honestly only knew of two people that everyone would avoid like a plague and one was her friend Arc, but she had just left him in the Great Hall so she knew that it couldn't be him. Her other thought was maybe it was one of the Dhamphirs. She knew of two of them, one she had met at a dance and the other was Kaegan Deathmote. She was getting really sick and tired of people always trying to hurt him or just...harrass him.

Granted the boy did blow up the abandoned bathrooms. And okay, maybe he did stab a student or two...or three...or a few. But she was sure that it was most likely warranted. They probably scared him. She only had one encounter with Kaegan, but she knew that he was easily frightened when he felt cornered. She could just feel it. He seemed so...tensed and paranoid. If he was anything like that frightened kitten she and Arc had found a few summers ago, he would definitely attack if he felt more threatened than he was.

Moving up to the group she pushed herself in front of the other girls who were standing nearby warily, briefly listened to a fellow Gryffindor apologize for something, before she whirled around and glared at the girls. There was one other girl crouched near Kaegan that she thought was either stupid or immune to whatever energy Kaegan gave off, but she wasn't focused on her. It was focused on the three girls standing nearby, a bit too close. "Unless you lot are thick in the head you should clear out of here. Use your bloody eyes! Can't you see he's a bit panicked by you all crowding around him? CLEAR OUT!"

And with her hands, she made a "shooing" gesture to get the other girls away from the pale boy. "Go on! Leave!" Turning to the girl who was apologizing, she said a bit more gently, "I'm sure that he heard you. Don't worry. When he's calmed down a bit I'll let him know that you didn't mean to bump into him."

She turned to see the Slytherin trying to coax Kaegan somewhere else, which she also didn't think was a great idea. The best idea was to just leave him alone. If he wanted company, he'd let them know.

River crossed her arms across her chest in a defensive way, and pulled back, a little away from the small crowd now building up. Crowds were not her thing, and especially not today. Her eyes watched the boy coldly as he seemed to have that feeling of getting very overwhelmed, which River recognized well from personal experience. She was not one to push herself upon others, to be honest, she was more of the type to do the opposite, and rather pull away from other people, and isolate herself. Jeez, more and more people are gathering up here, she thought, as another student came marching up, waving her arms around like the other students were a bunch of mice she wanted rid of.
River watched her darkly, getting a little annoyed. If we’re not thick in the head? Did she think that barging in there like that wouldn’t create way more of a scene? Some people can’t really use their brains I guess.
Of course, for all River knew, this girl knew Kaegen well, and she might have known what would be best for him, but River could not help but feel her body fill with a slight burning annoyance.

River stood quietly, watching from a slight distance. One of the girls had earlier procceded with a quite loud apology, probably for bumping into him. The slytherin girl had crouched down next to Deathmote, and the there was this other girl who just marched up. Kaegen looked very much disturbed at what was happening, and after hearing everything that had happened earlier, River was not going to push it, so she stepped a few more steps back, and kept her arms crossed tightly over her chest, in the stance she’d usually have when unsure of a situation.
