Nothing to Do in such a Weather
♫
♫Open for two more students
Wandering through the corridors, twirling his cherry wood wand between his fingers absentmindedly, the second year walked through the corridors with no real destination. But also without really looking at anything or anyone, least of all where he was actually walking. He knew the corridors and they were usually unoccupied around this time, because everyone would already be doing their homework or whatnot. However Alan had already done his homework during his History of Magic class and was idly walking around.
He had nothing to do and could not think of anything that he possibly could do. Was there something? He could go outside of course, but it was raining heavily and he clearly did not want to be soaked by rainwater. But he did not know if he could just talk to someone, because he did not know what his friends were doing at the moment. He could imagine Hugh being at the Quidditch Pitch or anywhere with Ana. Or was he? Hugh was not prefect anymore, the end of year exams were taking too much of his time, or was it Quidditch? Alan never asked why he stopped, but it wasn't that important anyway, but were they still hanging out together, as in were Hugh and Ana friends? Alan shrugged, maybe he could check on Nico again? He hasn't seen her since they were together in the Hospital Wing. Maybe he should write an owl to Elena, she has been quiet lately... Well Scott was always around, Alan would chat with him at the dinner table, but it was only afternoon now.
And he was bored. Wasn't there anyone around to play games or something?

Nothing to Do in such a Weather
Primrose hadn't expected the rain completely, rushing into the school just minutes after the downpour had started- luckily escaping without being too soaked by the cold rain. One outfit change later and tucking her robes so harshly into her trunk that it almost broke the thing, she was walking around in a warm uniform and boredom rather obviously written on her face.
She had looked for Airlia in the common room with no luck, Kamryn around the great hall and Barb around the trophy room with no real finds. Prim had no idea where her friends had ran off too but she was lonely and dangerously bored, her wand being used to balance on her finger as she tried to figure out something to do. There was the potential of playing wizard chess in the library if she found an opponent or possibly some odd game of magical hide and seek? That simply has to be a thing in this school, right? A sigh escaped the first year as she let her wand fall into her hand- pout on her face as she looked around the corridor.
The second year Gryffndor she spotted was unfamiliar, rather surprising with how often she would drop her friends and cousin off at that god-awful singing painting. She assumed he was a second-year at least, a more confident walk as he seemed just as bored as herself; but not confident enough to scream 'I've been here for three years, please get me out'. If she was lucky he was one of those Gryffindors that were social or even better- mischievous and she could watch someone get into trouble or get into trouble herself. All for a good laugh and without anyone getting hurt of course.

Just tell me if you'd rather have only second years in owl and I'll delete my post oops

Nothing to Do in such a Weather
The blonde needed a break from her studies. It was such a dreary day that she almost fell asleep, facedown in her Herbology textbook. It wasn’t that the subject bore her but rather that she couldn’t get the hang of the material. There was only so much one could know about how to take care of plants but experiencing it firsthand… well, her plant hadn’t made it.
Ah well, nothing to be done about it. Dymphna came to realize that she was better at some subjects than others. No matter how she tried to keep the plants alive, to brew her potions correctly, something bad always happened. The plants died. The potion was bitter. It was frustratingly difficult but she still tried and that’s what counted.
Wandering the halls, she stopped to look out the window. Was Reid out there somewhere, flying around in this awful weather? She wouldn’t put it past him. Then she thought of Rosie, perhaps dancing in the Ballroom? She wanted to hunt her down and see if she’d be up for dancing together.
Phaedra was around somewhere too, likely studying just as she was but she wasn’t about to admit to her academic rival that she wasn’t doing well in Herbology and Potions. She had too much pride for that. Even if they were starting to become friends.
Rounding a corner, Dymphna saw a familiar Gryffindor. Alan wasn’t someone that she knew well but they had classes together. She thought that he might’ve been one of the participants for the snowball fight last year but wasn’t too sure. As she neared him, she figured she might as well say something. “All right there, Alan?” He looked passive, bored and like he wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere.
Then she noticed an unfamiliar face, a girl in Hufflepuff colours walking towards them. Dymphna frowned at her expression. ”Hey, are you okay?” The weather sure was affecting everyone today.

He looked up, his zoned out expression beginning to focus as he heard someone say his name. The voice was unfamiliar, yet he had heard it before, he was sure. But it could not have been memory worthy, so the second year looked around with a confused expression. When a Ravenclaw girl appeared in his line of vision, his eyes widened. She looked at him expectantly, so he guess it was her talking. Who was she though?
”U-uhm yeah... Who are you though? I guess we have classes together?” he asked, a nervous smile playing on his lips. His gaze followed the Ravenclaw's and onto a another blonde girl. Mustering her he quickly identified the badge on her robes, a Hufflepuff. But she was completely unfamiliar, so he would be even more nervous. ”H-hi?”, he gave a small awkward wave, barely wiggling his fingers into motion, before he turned to look back at the other girl.
”D-do you two maybe play a card game?”, he would ask the two of them, hoping that at least one of them was up for it. He was sure he had a deck of Exploding Snap Cards in his backpack somewhere and if not there was probably someone they could lend it from.

Nothing to Do in such a Weather
Primrose had to admit the frown on her face felt unnatural, almost forbidden in a sense as she looked at the two curiously.
''Honestly, anything to cure my boredom- I really don't want to get to the point where I do homework for fun only'' She sent a nervous smile, somehow when kids were older than her it felt- odd? As if they would baby her or something, even if it only was a year. Primrose did however do homework for fun, because the subjects were fun- but currently she had a dreadful potions homework and an even worse flying one. She just despised those two subjects in particular.
''You thinking exploding snap, I'm guessing?'' It was a fun game for sure, because the possibility of someones eyebrows coming off was rather high; as she had learned the hard way when playing with her mum and cousin- she thought her mum would loose it when primrose burned her cheek because of it.
''Oh- I'm Primrose by the way, Primrose Edwards.'' She waved, now with a big smile on her face.
The smile felt more natural to her, because it was the very expression she wore daily. She was still playing around with her wand, letting it get balanced between her hands as she started leaning her weight on her left leg.
''I don't have any cards with me though'' She hummed, frowning slightly at her own statement.

Dymphna gave a nervous laugh. Of course, Alan only knew her from classes so he wasn’t sure who she was yet. He was probably used to hearing her rambling on in Transfiguration. “Dymphna,” she replied with a smile, “But my friends call me Dymph.” Maybe they would be friends someday too.
Before she could respond to confirm that she did know him from classes, the unfamiliar Hufflepuff was in front of them. Dymphna wasn’t sure if she should admit that she did homework for fun, with the way the newly introduced Primrose was talking about it. Ah well. A card game sounded good though. “I’ve played some with Reid,” she said as she started to dig through her satchel. “I’m Dymph, by the way.”
Primrose was a pretty name. “Are you a first year?” She finally gave up her digging and looked into her messy satchel. Either they were lost somewhere in the depths of her bag or with Reid, wherever he might be. Quidditch pitch perhaps. A storm wouldn’t stop him. “Sorry, Alan. I thought I had them with me. What else is there to do for fun?”
The library was always a fun time but she didn’t think the others would want to catch up on reading, and she was too sleepy for it. Exploding snap would’ve woken her up. Dymphna wasn’t very good at it, even after all this time playing it. “Maybe Wizards Chess?” She was better at it since Sebastian taught her. “My set is up in the commons. I could pop in, get it and meet you two somewhere.” Then one of them would be left out which made her frown. It didn’t seem to be the best idea. Maybe a nap was in order afterall.

”Reid Kovacs? You know him?”, he asked Dymphna, curiously and with a light smile on his lips. He remember meeting Reid in the Hospital Wing once, after that he occasionally saw him around but that was sadly not as common. Maybe they could meet somewhere and hang out, because the Hufflepuff seemed like a really nice guy.
Alan nodded at Primrose, when she asked whether he meant exploding snap. There were not too many nice games that he knew, as he spend most of his time outside or trying to find hidden passageway in Hogwarts.
His smile turned into a frown, disappointed that none of the three had any games with them. Alan shook his head at the Chess proposal. He really did not like tactical games like that, they were just not so... exciting? He thought a bit. ”What else could we do... if not games? We cannot go outside, since it is storming-”, he sighed, shaking his head. He had no idea what else to do. It was an option to get the game, but Alan would probably get distracted or something. He looked at the two girls; Primrose and Dymphna. Both were complicated names, but Alan might be able to remember them. At least he hoped so, because he simply could not continue with always forgetting names.
