A strange summons from Anastasia Beckett but she figured it was just the manipulation by their common enemy coming to a head. Probably a meeting, although why they’d meet in such a place was confusing.

A letter told her the time and place although Elena wasn't quite sure why she was here. She knew why she showed up, Ana called and the girl had come running, or more correctly walking. Coming without her cloak was probably a bad idea for her mental health, but it was being washed. So Elena felt oddly alone and oddly afraid. Better to push that down for now.

Minutes ticked by, or it could’ve been seconds. The corridors were oddly quiet, even though curfew was still hours away. No way in hell Elena was stepping foot outside after hours, that could get her kicked out of ROAM. Beckett had yet to show, but Elena was early so she tried to hold back the nervousness.

A few third year students walked past, Elena nodded at them politely and waved. One of them waved back with a smile. Very nice of them, a little bit soothing.

“Ana? You there?” Elena called softly in the corridor, she leaned on the wall near the door. Arms crossed and eyes flicking nervously around. All in all the girl looked shady, even though she herself had nothing to be shady about.

Anastasia walked casually and briskly down the corridors, which were abnormally empty at the moment. If she had been patrolling, she would have actually been rather pleased with the lack of people, but right now, she was doing anything but patrolling. Anastasia was an interesting mix. Most of the time, she valued rules and structure very highly. The exception was when she was getting revenge or someone she cared about was hurt. Then, all bets were off and Anastasia would resort to whatever she had to to get what she wanted. A rather Slytherin trait of her...

Speaking of Slytherin, she saw the person she had arranged to meet. She was planning on having the blue haired girl helping her dispose of any and all evidence and possibly helping her hide something, depending on which course of action Anastasia settled on. She felt her hand work its way into her book bag and her fingers brushed up against the small book. She didn't know exactly what it was or what it meant, but it was important to an enemy, therefore, it was extremely important to her.

"Elena!" she hissed as she approached the girl, whose back was towards her. Despite her nerves about this going off smoothly, Anastasia was feeling amazing. She hadn't had a decent plot or takedown yet in her time at Hogwarts. For a Queen of Schemes, that was rather boring and smothering, so at the moment, her eyes were sparkling and she could hardly suppress a thrilled grin.

Aurelia returned to her dormitory after dinner in the great hall. What surprised her was the piece of parchment on her bed. The first thing that came to her mind was an interview owl. Anyone who had received an interview owl from her would have found it on their bed. Aurelia, after much hassle scurrying about the halls of Hogwarts each day for interviews back when she was journaling for the disbanded GryffGazette had grew tired and decided to switch from face to face interviews to paper instead. Whenever she required an interview, she’d write the questions on a piece of parchment and found someone to put it on the addressed’s bed for her. So far she had received decent results. This however, was not an interview owl.
Meet me at the 2nd floor corridors.
Was all it said and no more, not even a name. So it was anonymous. The only person Aurelia suspected the owl was from was Howie. They had been exchanging owls with only their initials recently, he had required a share of her stash of Forgetfulness Potion for some reason. But the handwriting was too neat and did not look like his. Regardless, she was curious. It would not be anything too bad. Afterall, she was a prefect and had the power of it was just some silly prank. In a minute, Aurelia found herself exiting the doors of the common room and heading down the steps towards the rendezvous.

Elena heard her name and spun to see Ana striding down the hall in her direction, there was a glint in her eyes, as if she’d just figured out something interesting.

Suffice it to say, Elena was terrified but absolutely intrigued. Time to find out what on earth was going on, “Ana, looking gorgeous as always. Care to tell me what’s going on? Not that getting owls from you isn’t the highlight of my month, but it was very interesting as owls go. Plot coming to fruition?”

Elena may have been reading too many urban fantasy books, the joking mannerisms we’re getting more and more prevalent over time. Maybe it was just her getting enough sleep, who knew? Somehow being almost killed twice actually made her feel better. Probably because exciting lives were closer to what she’d known for a long time. In the long run it’d be in her best interests for peace to reign.

But then again, Elena was a fan of chaos.

Elena kicked up off the wall, and crossed her arms, a curious look in her eyes, but a lopsided and slightly mischievous smirk on her face. Lowe would be proud, if he knew what was happening he’d be absolutely horrified, but the smirk would’ve gotten an approving nod at the least.

Anastasia smirked slightly at Elena's comment about her looks but said nothing. She had exactly zero time for that sort of thing at the moment, and she did know she was considered pretty. It wasn't exactly something she put a great deal of stalk in, since, beyond brushing her hair and wearing a minimal amount of makeup, she had done nothing to achieve looking pretty, she'd simply been lucky.

Before she began to speak, she pulled out her potion textbook and opened it as though to show something to the Slytherin. "Getting owls from me is the highlight of most people's life, love," she said, her eyes still sparkingly dangerously. "Anyway, remember that potions recipe that we found odd? I believe I've found a solution, or part of one anyway.

Her words about the potion were spoken at a normal tone and she kept the potions book held in front so that anyone passing by would think that they were merely discussing an interesting or difficult homework problem. Anyway, Anastasia was a prefect, which meant that she would likely be left alone unless she was running around bludgeoning people.  It wasn't like Anastasia was a suspect for mischief anyway.

"I borrowed a book from one of the second year girls, I'm sure you know which one, she's quite knowledgable about most things, " Ana continued, her tone light, but her expression intent, trying to make certain Elena understood what she was saying. "I'm surprised but quite grateful she was willing to part with it, since I've rarely seen her without it, but in any event, I think it's a step in the right direction for that odd potion mixture."

OOC - Sorry for my random burst of zero activity. I'm thinking ana and puck have a few rounds of back and forth and then they hear aurelia coming and ana panics and sets it on fire? That was the plan, right?

"I'd believe that, although I'd also believe that getting an owl from you might be the most terrifying thing to ever happen to someone." Elena's eyes sparkled, and she smiled like a cat that'd just seen an injured critter and was planning on having some fun.

Elena faked like she was scanning the potions book, getting the feeling this was going to be very very interesting, "Good, that issue was starting to get to me, we need to get that homework in soon, and it's worth quite a few marks."

Dry statements, Elena winked to make sure Ana knew that she knew what was going on. Translation, 'Oh good I was starting to worry Aurelia may've forgotten that we are, in fact, terrifying human being that she shouldn't have messed with.'

Elena hummed as if she saw something interesting, "I'm glad you borrowed it, that book sounds very interesting, do tell me what you've found out about it. I'd like to know what kind of question we're dealing with. Also perhaps tell me if and when we need to return it."

Have you found the blackmail material or whatever you've gotten this book for? Also does Aurelia know if it's gone?

Elena glanced down the hall, then back to Ana, simply checking to see if someone was coming.

Anastasia smiled and for someone passing by, they would have likely thought that she was the kind of person that had spent the day burning ants under a muggle magnifying glass. Suffice it to say, she looked borderline sociopathic. Actually, scratch that - she looked straight-up sociopathic.

"Alright, so the issue won't be fully solved by this, but I think it should certainly help and satisfy the Potions Master enough to buy us some time to figure out a more stable and hopefully permanent solution," Anastasia said, her voice sounding normal enough. Truth be told, she was speaking mostly nonsense and trying to convey her message to Elena. What she really meant was "This is a bandaid and it should shake up Aurelia a bit, but it's certainly not my endgame".

She wished there was a more private place they could have spoken - one where they wouldn't be in danger of being caught by a fellow Prefect or Aurelia herself. Alas, this was the best they could do for the moment. Although, Anastasia suspected they would figure out a better meeting place if they continued in their plots against Aurelia. That was odd - she thought about meeting with Elena several times in the future and was not completely opposed to the idea. Sure, it was just because they were plotting against a common enemy, but somehow, Anastasia now considered Elena something like a friend. Not exactly what she would have expected based on how they'd met, but things happened in strange ways.

"I haven't actually had much of a chance to read it yet, but the upper-year who loaned it to me said it should be quite helpful. I assume she'll want it back sooner than later, but she said we could hold on to it for however long we need to," Anastasia said, her eyes intensely trying to communicate with her partner in crime. All she could hope was that Elena understood her. She was sure she did though, seeing as this message was so much clearer than her last. "This is important but I don't know how exactly. Aurelia will likely notice it's missing soon, so we'd better do whatever it is we're going to do and destroy it or return it."

Elena took one look at that sociopathic smile and decided that all prefects are automatically evil until proven otherwise. The hiring this school does. Let’s do a headcount shall we? Past and present.

Insane half vampire who stabs people, the short redhead who advocated for the murder of Ben Eckenrode, Aurelia, the total ass who runs the paper, this crazy young woman, that girl Luna Choi who she’d only heard horror stories about, another weird little redhead who couldn’t even speak loud enough to be heard, two hufflepuffs who she’d never even seen, and two ravenclaws she’d never even seen. Then there were the current prefects she actually trusted to run anything, Arc, Dinara, and Quinn.

Jesus lord Hogwarts, with this track record how are people still flocking too you? Maybe Elena could open a competing school, one with a sensible name, like the Garden Conservatory for Gifted Students. Perfect, the ones who like tradition may not budge but any half-blood worth their salt will switch. Two words for you Standardised Curriculum.

“Ah, sounds fair.” That one did not need a translator, but Elena just felt the need to stop that smile whatever it was from eating her soul.

“You know I’ve been told before that I’m a world class speed reader, if you’re willing to give me a shot.” Elena smiled brightly, really trying to wish away that smile, the translation should be clear, I can read it really quickly.

Anastasia opened the book to show Puck. She snatched it without getting a good look at it, but she assumed it was Aurelia's diary. This would be absolutely delicious. She would get some good blackmail material on the older girl and get her to leave Hugh alone. Except, when she began to read the pages, she noticed two things. The first was that it was in Dutch, which wasn't that surprising. Anastasia herself wrote in French so that it would be more difficult for someone with bad intentions(such as her own at the moment) wouldn't have an easy time of learning her secrets). The second thing that was more confusing was that the handwriting looked clumsy and childish. Sure, Ana loved to believe that Aurelia had bad handwriting, but she knew that was definitely not the case, having received at least one owl from the nasty older girl, and knew that she had absolutely lovely handwriting. This looked like a young boy's handwriting, maybe that of an 8 or 9-year-old, if Ana had to guess.

She wasn't sure what to make of it, and was about to ask the Slytherin if she knew Dutch, but she heard people coming their way. Hissing instructions to hide, Anastasia snapped the book shut and ducked behind a suit of armor. Waiting for those in the corridor to pass, she further inspected the cover. Engraved was the name "Raphael Bezuidenhout". Well, that was odd. That certainly wasn't Aurelia. Perhaps a cousin or brother or something. She would have to look up the name when she was translating the diary.

Emerging, she looked for the blue-haired Slytherin, but the other girl had disappeared. Cowardly little weasel...

Ana clutched the book to her chest and began to head up the Common Room when she heard the one voice that she least wanted to hear in the world at this exact moment in time. That of one Aurelia Bezuidenhout. Well, shit. Whether or not this was actually Aurelia's diary was beside the point - Ana had in fact stolen it, and she was literally holding it. The fact that she was a prefect wouldn't stop her from getting in trouble, and this could, in fact, cost her that position.

Doing the first thing she could think of, she threw the diary on the ground and murmured a spell. Incendio. Her best and favorite spell. The book caught fire instantly and Ana turned on her heel and sprinted away, taking the long way back to the Common Room to avoid the other girl.
