The Return of Miss Black Closed

⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀The sky was dull here at Hogwarts, clouds seemingly filled with either rain or snow; it was hard to tell at this time of night but either way, Falentra didn't pay much attention to it. She was more focused on returning to Hogwarts. What would everyone think of her, or would they even remember her or maybe they hadn't notice her absence at all? Of course, she hoped it was the last one.

Her old famous ragged bag swung loosely over her shoulder as she made her way through the quiet hallways and up the stairs towards her dorm. There were a few students of each house lingering around the halls, those of which she rushed passed in the quietest way possible, wary from the thought of being seen. Thankfully for her, luck was on her side tonight. The hallways were darker and only candles kept the room lit, that of little light.
Despite this, she felt uneasy; nervous. Was that feeling common to most? If so, it was all too new to her. She took a seat on one of the wooden benches in the hallway, resting her bag down between her legs. Her head rested in the palms of her hands, processing the past few months over in her head again, something she still couldn't wrap her head around. Not only that but what was she to say to any students that asked where she had been?
A groan could be heard coming from her, followed by her fist slamming down on the bench.
Out of all the people, for this to happen to, it had to be her. The one who struggled to hold a conversation, let alone make eye contact with someone. There were reasons she struggled to make friends, and this wasn't helping her out in the slightest.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀It was now hitting 8 PM and Falentra had managed to cool down from one of her 'miniature breakdowns' as she would call them. Her father would say otherwise, always calling her overdramatic when having them, but that wasn't the point. He didn't understand her, and because of that, she had started to believe everyone else thought the same towards her, not understanding her ways of coming across to others.
She rubbed over her knuckle that she had slammed on the bench from earlier, barely showing any signs of pain when making contact with the graze. She brushed it off by collecting her thoughts once more and tossing her bag back over her shoulder, wandering aimlessly through the hallway towards her dorm, barely caring whether or not any students were to acknowledge her or not anymore. It was late and she was tired after the past few months of mayhem. Her mind was elsewhere at this point and if anything, someone to talk to at this point may actually do her good, even if she didn't feel it at this moment in time.

Elena Jones was tired, it had been a long day and all she wanted right now was some peace, so while the rest of the school headed to talk to their friends or eat or whatever it was they did, Elena just wandered around the halls.

Someone had once asked her what she was doing, she had simply said she was looking for secrets. They had decided she was another kid that read Hogwarts: A History too many times and had gotten carried away. While secret doors were something she was on the lookout for, she wasn’t exactly searching for them.

So she kept walking around, trying to clear her head. It was oddly deserted, usually some kid would be around just to make the peace and quiet she yearned for harder to find.

Elena started to hum a tune she’d learned a couple of years ago, some song about a magical hotel you couldn’t leave, it was almost comforting until she wondered if she was allowed to leave Hogwarts. Then she just frowned and stayed quiet instead.

Then she saw a girl with a backpack meandering in the direction of the dorms. Elena decided to join her, the dorms themselves would still be quiet at this point in the evening.

“Hi I’m Elena. I haven’t seen you around before. What’s your name?”

I'm weak my love.

⠀⠀⠀Falentra stopped in her tracks, her head raising and turning towards to voice of the other. It had startled her. She was enjoying the peace and quiet herself, but she rarely got any of that whilst she was here. She knew she had to respond in some way, so turned swiftly on her heels to face the younger student, folding her arms in the process, hoping the actions and the facial expressions she was about to show was enough to tell the other she did not want to be pestered, especially at such a time.

Her big brown orbs almost swallowed her up from the stare she gave, carefully examining every bit of detail on her. The girl seemed to be wearing a robe she was all too familiar with. She was a fellow Slytherin. She hadn't seen her around before so took it she was one of the new first years.
Of course, what happened next was what she was dreading the most. Her eyes closed when being asked the question, annoyed at the fact that she now had to make some sort of communication with Elena. '' Uhm..'' She was stuck for words. Finding a way of avoiding talking about her absence was hard enough, let alone telling the girl her name.
Having the surname 'Black' was like a curse. Everyone just assumed the worst and thought she was related to the famous family, and having to explain it to almost every single person was a pain in the arse, so on this occasion, she simply stated her first name and only her first. '' ... My name is Falentra. '' Her tone was bland and from that, she came across bored with the other already. Talking wasn't something she was good at, and she took pride in it if it meant that she could get away with holding a conversation with someone that is.

Having given the girl what she wanted, Falentra wasn't planning on hanging around much longer than she needed to, so she continued to walk onwards, raising her hand and giving a brief wave back to the other. '' Oh, and please don't follow me. I don't want to be seen with anyone, let along a first year... a... weakling like yourself. It's..embarrassing.'' She scoffed before picking up her pace and hurrying onwards towards her dorm.

Elena's expression darkened, who did this girl think she was? She would get it if she wanted to be left alone but calling someone, especially someone like Elena weak. Well that just was not something that she thought was right. Elena picked up the pace to make sure she could berate the other girl, or hand out a free therapy session, 'Look inside yourself, and the truth will be revealed.'

It took a lot of willpower not to laugh at the thought of herself being a therapist, she'd probably be dead by the end of the first day.

"What did you just say?" She hissed, "I am not weak, what gives you the right to insult other people? Let me guess you're one of those fancy pure-bloods that thinks they're above everyone else. Well newsflash kid, just because you come from wizarding pureblood families isn't always a good thing, and certainly doesn't mean you can walk around thinking you're better or stronger than anyone else. You should earn that through merit, not blood."

Elena's expression then softened a bit, considering any other reason for insulting someone that the girl had never met before, "Also, if you wanted to be left alone, you can usually just say that to people, I wouldn't have taken offense if you had said that."

Her brows furrowed, absolutely baffled by the response, or say, the rant the girl just had. No sense whatsoever seemed to leave her lips. Even though she listened, to an extent, the majority went over her head, not taking any of it to heart. The only emotion that she showed was when Elena called her a kid. Of course, she was right but Falentra couldn't help but smile. She smiled. A very rare emotion that showed, so for her to show it, it meant something.
Rather than giving the younger female the same amount of back-chat, she just continued to smile. Though not a happy smile now. Call it more of a grin. '' May I ask...'' She brushed her fingers through her messy thick black hair, readjusting it at her own pace, just to make the other wait that little bit longer now. ''If you class me as a kid, then what does that make you?... I dread to think.'' Her furrowed brows had soft by this point, although one of her eyebrows raised when asking the question.

Not even a moment later, Falentra spoke once more, not giving the other the opportunity to respond. ''And what on earth makes you think I'm a Pureblood? At what point did I mention that I was during our brief conversation before?'' She eyed her up and down, disgusted that she had to share a house with such a student. '' Are you... Are you judging me based off my appearance or somethin'?'' She wore a fake frown and placed her hand over her heart. '' My heart aches deeply. ''
It was a really bad time for Falentra to be socialising with people, so she tried to add sarcasm and her own humour to their short conversation. She was a loose cannon and had no patience when it came to arguing, or whatever the both of them was doing. She just didn't have the time for it, not tonight. Turning her back to Elena was a sign that she did not wish to be bothered any more, and so walked on once again into the darkened hallways.

Elena rolled her eyes, this girl was difficult in the best way, she posed a challenge. It was time to try and respond so she again strolled up to keep talking to her, mocking Falentra seemed to be the way to get her attention, so why not try that first?

"Oh look and here I thought if you were calling other people weak that you would be strong, but apparently you can't even argue with an eleven year old without running away!" Elena put on a slightly manic grin, "Or am I just a special case kid?"

"Also, I called you a kid because you haven't shown yourself to be better or more resourceful than your age would suggest, as for what I would call myself? Well, I would call myself a trickster, or a mystery, or even just Elena." She crossed her arms, "And you didn't have to tell me, I made an assumption and I'm sorry if I was incorrect. I'm just some thief from the streets of London after all, what would I know about wizard politics? I was too busy trying to find something to eat."

Elena raised an eyebrow at the girl, she was starting to like Falentra.

Falentra had now lost all her patience with the girl, but Elena was lucky just from the fact that the second year hadn’t already started a fight with the girl after their first brief encounter. Could she not see that she wanted to be alone? Clearly not.
Eitherway, after what seemed like forever, the other had seemed to have finally finish her rant, to which Falentra said nothing to, because it meant nothing to her, so why would she waste any more of her breath?
Silence just filled the room before it became to awkward for Falentra.
Rather than fighting with the girl, she instead gritted her teeth and turned her back to her, probably the hardest thing she had to do at that moment in time.
Once more, Falentra walked away and arrived at her dorm, entering it at such a fast pace. Oh how glad she was to finally be back here, sharing the company of her roommates. It was defiantly something she thought she would never have felt, but any company was better than spending it with a pestering first year.

Thread left.
