Locked doors  PV Lilith Westlocke

Thanking the fact that she’d never really been that afraid of the dark, Dinah followed Lilith down the tunnel. It was typical that magic, the only weapon in their arsenal, was prohibited down here. She watched, a little apprehensive, as Lilith popped open the golden vial and downed half the contents. For a moment Dinah was worried that she would drink it all and leave her to the perils of the tunnel. Maybe she shouldn’t think the worst of Lilith but she couldn’t help it. A side effect of a disappointing life.

Hopefully it’ll be enough to get us through whatever lies ahead.” Dinah managed to get out as she coughed the liquid down. Lilith was right it tasted awful. “I’ve never tasted cobwebs or catfood before but yeah I imagine they would taste sort of like that...”

As the liquid hit her stomach, Dinah glanced around nervously but didn’t seem to feel any different. She wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting. A sudden rush of hope perhaps? Happiness? Confidence? Either way she didn’t feel  anything.

Dinah gasped as they entered the room full of mirrors. She had never liked seeing her own reflection. How did this relate to the nightmare? Dinah couldn’t work it out.

You know you’re not really great at instilling confidence.” Dinah grinned over at Lilith after listening to her story. “So what do you think the nightmare is? We just have to stare at ourselves...because that really would be a nightmare.”

Lilith rolled her eyes. "Speak for yourself. I am gorgeous." Lilith moved closer to the mirrors, examining them. She tapped one with the tip of her nail, causing a sharp sound to echo off around them before disappearing. Lilith hummed. "If this is the nightmare, it is a poor one."

Suddenly, the room began to shift. The mirrors seemed to move like waves and change from their current appearances. Lilith blinked and the dome mirror-covered room changed into what looked to be an old run-down apartment building. A living room with a couch covered in holes and stains and a wooden fireplace that looks like it hasn't been used in years. The living room opened up into a black-and-white tiled kitchen with alcohol bottles laying around the countertops and tables like decorations. A snoring sound attracted Lilith's attention to the couch, where a pot-bellied ginger man laid asleep.

Silently, Lilith blinked before swallowing the lump in her throat. She started to move up the rickety staircase with broken spindles. She completely forgot about Dinah for the moment as her body moved without her approval. She reached the landing on the second floor of the landing and stepped over a smashed bottle.

As the room shifted around them, Dinah looked on in wonder as the mirrors seemed to melt away and were replaced with what seemed to be a perfectly normal living room. It was a little dark and ever surface seemed to be covered in glass bottles. Dinah had her suspicions that this wasn't a location of magical essence. It seemed rather muggle-like to her. In fact she felt somewhere in her mismatched history she had once had a foster home very much like this. Perhaps slightly fewer bottles and a couple more lights but it wasn't far off.

"Where are we? Is this going to be the nightmare?..." Dinah was looking around for any sign of a something which might constitute as a nightmare but she wasn't seeing anything but the sleeping man over on the couch. "Lilith?"

The other girl had silently begun to make her way up a pair of stairs off to the right. Dinah watched her, her brow furrowed slightly. It was almost as if the girl was retracing footsteps, like she knew where she was going and it seemed clear that Lilith had almost completely forgotten that Dinah was accompanying her on this particular journey. Figuring it would be best to follow her lead, as she appeared to know where she was going, Dinah took a couple of tentative steps up the stairs. As her foot hit the wood it creaked, making her cringe a little and shoot a nervous glance at the sleeping man. He didn't appear to stir.

The pair reached the landing where broken glass littered the floor and Dinah watched carefully where she stood, her shoes being a little too thin for her own liking.

"Hey, Lilith? Where are we? Are you okay?
