Nova had been particularly restless the past week, Sarah having to spend more time in the library than usual to catch up on a few assignments she'd been neglecting. It had meant that Sarah hadn't been able to spend as much time with the cat as she'd have liked to, and clearly Nova was thinking the same thing. It was Sunday, and Sarah had managed to get most of her work for the coming week completed, bar one Charms essay she was planning on completing some time next week. Nova seemed to realise this, and had been pawing at her ankles the second she'd climbed out of bed, wanting to explore the castle the way they'd soft often found themselves doing.
"Alright, girlie, I'll grab some breakfast and then we can go exploring," She said, bending down to scratch behind Nova's right ear in the place the Slytherin knew she enjoyed. It immediately satiated the feline and Sarah found herself thinking, not for the first time, that Nova securely understood a lot more than she assumed most cats did. She quickly changed, slipped on her shoes, and grabbed her wand, before turning back to the grey ball of fur which had apparently decided she wanted to get cat hair all over Sarah's bed. A punishment, no doubt, for Sarah's apparent neglect of her. She rolled her eyes fondly, offering Nova a final scratch before turning for the dormitory doors. "I'll be back soon," She promised, slipping out of the common rooms towards the Great Hall.
True to her word, Sarah was stood back in the Slytherin common rooms within the hour. The second she opened the door, her eyes caught sight of Nova, slowly making her way over in something more akin to a strut than the usual walk of a cat. Sarah scooped her up into her arms when she was close enough and the pair made their way up and out of the dungeons, ready for a day of exploring the castle and its grounds. As they walked, Sarah found herself talking nonsense, rattling off the things she'd done that week, mentioning how much she'd enjoyed the ball a few nights prior, and other random things which she thought of. "He almost set the entire classroom on fire. If the professor hadn't been paying attention, who knows what would have happened," she reeled off, Nova seeming less interested in her words, and more intrigued by the movement she saw down one of the nearby corridors. "Nova," Sarah said, voice slightly raised but still fond, as the cat jumped from her hands and darted around the corner. Sarah let out a soft sigh, closing her eyes for a few seconds. Apparently they were playing chase again, she thought as she followed Nova around the corner. Her eyes widened as she saw her jumping up at a small Gryffindor girl. For Merlin's sake.

Thank goodness Sunday had finally rolled around. It was a long weekend with a ball and everything and Akari was still very tired. It took quite an effort for her to get out of bed that morning. The prior events had definitely taken a toll on the eleven year old. She had previously been running on adrenaline so all the exhaustion was only catching up on her now. At breakfast time she shuffled down to the great hall sleepily and with a book in her hand. During the past week, she had taken out this book for herbology class but now that she completed all the work she no longer needed it so she planned to return it to the library after eating.
After breakfast when she was nearly all the way back in the Gryffindor common room she realized she had been so out of it that she left the book on the table in the great hall and the whole plan she had completely slipped her mind. She groaned out loud in frustration then turned around to go back and fetch it.
Her eyes were glued to the floor as she was made her way down through the corridors so she barely noticed when all of a sudden something furry sprinted around the corner and did not see that its trajectory was straight towards her. Her eyes widened and she squealed in surprise as it jumped up at her. Instinctively she started backing up a little bit, away from whatever leaped at her. That had definitely woken her up. She eventually looked closer to see what she had gotten so alarmed by, only to see a grey cat. Her hand shot to her heart from how startled she was although she was relieved at what it had turned out to be.
"My God" She mumbled as she stared down at the little creature.
A cat wasn’t so bad but nevertheless a small frown spread across her face as took a deep breath. She typically didn't mind cats or animals, but this one really gave her a fright. She then looked up and around to see where the cat had come from when her attention was caught by a girl standing a few yards away.
"Excuse me is this your cat?" She asked with her eyebrows still furrowed slightly and had a hint of annoyance in her tone.
