For Errand: Operation Fowl Play{ PV to Glen Pope }

What had she even agreed to? She had no idea. But the Transfiguration Professor was encouraging it so, it could not be a terrible idea, right? Serena grinned, nonetheless, armed with her wand and a night lamp in her other hand. She understood the purpose of the task but the idea of going without any light was far too scary. She knew that well. The nightlight was given to her on her birthday not too many days prior, by her head of house.
He told her to make her own light. This was probably not the idea he had in mind when he wrote that note but nonetheless, Serena was equipped with her own light and was ready to walk down this path. She listened to the instructions that the professor had given. All they had to do was turn all of the candles into ducks or ducklings. Simple enough, right?!
Though, in all honesty, she was not the most proficient witch at Transfiguration spells. It was one of the subjects that she struggled in. But this was a good opportunity to practice a little, especially since they had already learned this spell a year before. She ought to be able to cast it a lot better by now. Holding her nightlight carefully, she nodded to the professor and turned to make her way down the corridor after they had been given permission to get set and go.
Looking over to @Glen Pope, she grinned, "Wanna go together?" She asked him, recognising him in the room. They had seen each other a few times over the past few months, getting a little closer. Honestly, she had no idea if this was his sort of thing or not but he was here so she was going to do this!
Serena aimed at the first candle in sight, "Avifors!" She cast carefully trying to mimic the wand movement that Professor Lian had demonstrated a few moments before. The spell hit the candle, turning it into a little duck that shook its head as it flew to the statue not too far from it and sat on the head. The corridor got a little darker. Serena frowned a bit. She was not a fan of that. Perhaps she needed to focus on other objects... "Maybe... we should... keep the light and use something else...?" She mumbled to her partner in crime.
Moving her wand into her nightlight hand, she rooted through her bag for a moment. Then she found what she wanted. There were a few objects in there that she could use. It was not what the professor had instructed them to do but after all of the incidents where the darkness had come alive, she figured it was smarter than removing their only source of light. Serena tiptoed a little closer down the corridor, placing a small textbook she had on her on the ground, "Avifors!" She cast again, trying to turn it into a small duckling.
Then she moved a little closer, pulling out an ink bottle and turned that into a duck. A few more steps and Serena was starting to run out of objects. She pulled out a bag of candy and put down a few of the sweets. "Duck duck duck... Avifors!" She cast, attempting to turn them all into little ducklings, one after the other.
There, much better. She could fill the corridor with a few ducklings whilst also keeping the light around so no one got hurt. Smart, right? At least, she thought so. Serena nodded to herself, proud of herself. Browne would have approved. Maybe. Well... probably not. It was a bit weird to leave ducklings outside of the Head of Ravenclaw's office. Whoopppsss. Blame Professor Lian. Serena would!
She had nowhere near finished, or gotten close enough to the room but she was getting there. There were other students around the pair, doing their own things too. Serena glanced around, wondering if she actually knew anyone. "Ahh Pizza, go to sleep," She mumbled to her brown rat that poked his head out of her cloak pocket. He scampered around her robes, causing her to laugh a little, "You're tickling me!" She scolded him in a whisper, laughing at the whole thing nonetheless. She was trying to keep quiet, whispering and trying to keep her laughter as quiet as possible. It was hard juggling so much stuff. Perhaps the nightlight was a little excessive. But, it had a cute little badger dancing around. She had to bring it with her everywhere!
Pizza Rat wasted no time in trying to get into her bag, going for the sweets, "Nooo, those are not for you! I need those," She whispered at him, pulling the bag away from him. Serena would have shared if she did not need them for the ducks!

[quote]To be perfectly honest, Glen had no idea what this whole thing was about. Pulling a prank on a Head of House for a teacher? Plain weird. But, he supposed they at least wouldn't get detention if the whole thing was teacher sanctioned. He was still not sure if he wanted to participate in this – it sounded kinda fun, sure, but on the other hand he could use the time to go explore...
Nevermind.
He wasn't about to say no to Serena when he had no real reason to. The girl was badass! He didn't want to get on her bad side. Not that he really thought she would be angry if he declined, or take it personally, but why risk it? Besides, she was good company and probably his friend? He wasn't too sure on that part. But she seemed to have searched him out again, so that meant friends, right? Maybe. It wasn't like he had a good track record of making friends... Well, there was Edric, but... He got along with people, but friends was a step above simply getting along, right?
Nodding, he gave Serena a grin back: “Sure! Let's go do this together.” Maybe the company would make this less strange. Following her down the corridor, he turned to transfigure the candle on the opposite site of the corridor from the one Serena chose into a bird. “Avifors.”, he said, tracing an infinity symbol into the air with his wand. For a moment he wasn't sure if something would happen but then the new birdie flew off from it's candle holder.
“Maybe... we should... keep the light and use something else...?”
Wasn't the point of this excursion-thing to turn all the candles into birds? Why would they then leave the candles? But then, she had a point, too. If they transfigured all the lights... They wouldn't be able to see their birds. And he wanted to know if those transfigured birds acted like birds or as weirdly off as those spiders seemed to. Why hadn't he thought of that before? He could've transfigured some birds or so to check their behaviour... Though, considering the spiders poof-ed, they had probably been conjured and not transfigured, right?
Nevertheless, Serena might have a good idea there, trying to look for things to transfigure through her bag. Glen followed suit, checking his pockets for something suitable to transfigure. He found a couple of pieces of wood that he had found and intended for whittling, but eh. Might as well.
Dropping one of the twigs on the floor Glen turned it into a second bird. “Avifors.” before moving a bit further down the corridor and repeating the process with the other two wooden pieces (from a branch that had fallen and broken into several pieces).
Pizza?
Why was she talking abou- Oh right, her pet rat. He'd forgotten about the rat's name. Glen chuckled as his partner-in-crime was play-fighting or whatever one would call it with her rat. “Are you planning on making candy birds?” That would be almost a waste of candy though, wouldn't it?
Checking his pockets again and then looking through his bag, Glen found a handful of pebbles. If he remembered correctly, he had collected them at some point because they all had something that made them interesting but then he'd forgotten about them, so they could easily be sacrificed for this endeavour. “I have a bunch of pebbles? Stones? Something like that, do you want to use some of those?” Glen held the handful of small stones out toward Serena.

Serena's breath of relief was audible in the air as she noticed Glen had started to do the same thing as her. He was rooting through his pockets and pulling things out too. At least, there would be light in the corridors. Smart. Honestly, the pair of them should have just been Ravenclaws. Sometimes, she was too smart for her own good. Well, she did not actually believe that but she was pretty chuffed with herself in the moment. After everything that happened over the past few months, it seemed wise to take some precautions and avoid messing with the dark. Inviting the dark into the corridors seemed unsafe, to say the least. Of course, they were nowhere near the dungeons at this point. In fact, they were very far away from it. But Serena had learned not to trust the dark, wherever it was.
"Uh well yeah... I don't really have much else in here... Didn't really think about this, did I?" Serena replied as she grinned a little awkwardly, giving a nervous chuckle. Candy was pretty much the only option she had, unless she wanted to use the invisibility cloak in her bag - which seemed like a very bad idea, because what if she could not get it back? "Though... once they are uh untrans-figured? Is that a word? Untransfigured...? Well uh reversed back to normal then they'll just be wrapped candy right? So maybe Professor Equinox will enjoy them?" She continued, mostly just rambling on as she was babbling to herself.
Her eyes fell onto the items that he seemed to have as he continued to speak, "Oh! Those would work better!" Her enthusiasm was a little loud, she quickly snapped the back of her hand to her mouth, realising that they were meant to be quiet, "I mean uh thanks... Yeah, let's try that," She said in a quieter tone, hoping that her voice had not been too loud.
She offered Glen candies to actually consume from the bag before shoving the rest back into her bag - taking one and popping it into her mouth. Taking a few of the stones he offered, she walked further into the corridor and placed them down and started to cast on them, wondering if they would turn into different types of ducks.

[quote] “Well, Not really sure what you should've prepared for this, considering...” Glen shrugged. He sure wasn't prepared for this prank thing. Well, he was – kind of – just not on purpose.
Hmm. Serena was right, if the candies, uh, reverted back maybe the Professor would though if he was honest he found the thought of (un-)transfigured food a bit... let's call it off-putting. He'd put it about the same level as eating sand, grass or dirt. (All three of which he had done at some point out of curiosity, so it wasn't like he was in any position to judge or... whatever his rambling thoughts counted under.)
At her small outburst, Glen simultaneously gave her a wide grin and shushed her – or tried to shush her as the shushing turned into a chuckle half-way. Well, at least one of them was enthusiastic about this prank thing.
Then he turned serious again... well, quiet is probably a more apt term and gave her a mock-solemn nod as she took some of the stones in exchange for a bit of candy. Popping the the candy into his mouth – if he didn't eat it now he'd probably just forget about it – he turned back to the job at hand and put one of the pebbles on the ground to transfigure it into a bird. “Avifors.” With a grin he watched as the little bird scampered off down the corridor before putting down the next pebble to transfigure.

Serena grinned, "Yeeeahhh, good point," She admitted, not quite sure how they would have prepared for that. She covered her mouth, holding her palm over it to keep from laughing too much again. Glen shushed her a little, which just made the whole thing even more hilarious in all honesty. Her grin was evident even through the palm that covered her mouth.
Looking around, she could not help but chuckle a bit at all of the ducks that were starting to appear in the corridor from their efforts. It made her laugh a little more, just at the sight. At least Professor Lian would approve - even though she had no idea how the Head of House would react to this...
Her new partner-in-crime become more serious again. Well focused on the task at hand. Nodding, she tried to calm herself down. Once she had regained a tiny bit of control, she tiptoed further into the corridor carrying her nightlight and belongings. She placed the nightlight on the side after she got closer to the Ravenclaw Head of House's office and placed a few of the pebbles from her pocket onto the floor. She put down four of them, with a bit of distance between each of them.
"Avifors," Serena chanted as she waved her wand at the first pebble, watching it turn into a really cute duck. It was perhaps her best attempt yet. She did it again on the second, and the same happened. "Ahh, those ducks are so cute!" She whispered out excitedly, trying to keep her voice down. Confident, she cast again. Duck, duck, du- "Goose!" She exclaimed as she witnessed her third attempt turn into... a goose?!
Raising her wand towards the goose, she pointed at it with it, her tone of voice full of hesitation, "Glen... There's a..." He probably saw it. Whoops. She had accidentally turned the third pebble into a goose. That immediately started to flutter its wings loudly and start running around, making noises. Welp!

[quote] “Avifors.”
Glen grinned as he watched the newly turned bird stumble over its feet a little before righting itself and wandering around in a circle. He put down another pebble and transfigured that, too. The new bird was apparently more lazy than his predecessors as it merely plopped down on the floor and began to groom its feathers.
It was fascinating to see how they all both looked and acted at least slightly if not grossly different. The one grooming itself had slight reddish brown ting, while the circling one leaned a bit more to a blueish grey. Still, there behaviours were probably all within the normal behaviours of birds – so not helpful in figuring out more about those spiders apart from confirming that they most likely hadn't been transfigured. But then, their poof-ing out had already heavily implied that.
“Cute... I guess so.” It wasn't quite the word he'd have chosen probably but she wasn't wrong. The ducks were kind of adorable. - Goose? What did she-- Oh. That... was a goose. Not what he expected. And it looked quite angry, too.
He shuffled back a little bit – better be safe than sorry, he'd heard geese could be vicious biters – but he stared in fascination. He'd thought that spell only made smaller birds... “Impressive. I would've thought a goose too big to be a result of that spell.” This was so cool.

It had been a really long day for Alaric; he was on double patrol duty today, meaning he had been up very early, and he was bound to be up very late trying to keep the students safe. While the man should have been doing paperwork, he had been taking a nap on his desk, his faithful great white owl Zurie to be his alarm clock. He was confident the sassy owl enjoy the task far more than she should.
Zurie’s head perked up towards his door, and she flew over to it, looking at the crack at the bottom with intense intrigue. She hopped back and forth across the door's expanse, her talons clicking on the floor as she did so. This woke Alaric from his slumber, which for the moment was far better than what she usually did to him.
Then, however, her alertness had him striding across the room swiftly. Was she trying to tell him there was danger? When the goose outside in the corridor honked Zurie would screech loudly. “Perch, now.” He hissed at her and once she complied he opened his door.
His eyebrows raised up in surprise as a large goose was among some ducklings and it did not look happy. His dark vermillion eyes landed on @Glen Pope and @Serena Towers. “Maybe we ought to reverse the goose and then we can play with the ducks, yeah?” He made no move to draw his wand, however, he would allow those two to reverse the goose that they made first. Though as much as someone in his situation should seem angry or stern, he did not. On the contrary the man looked amused.

Serena, still pointing at the goose with widened eyes, was starting to panic as the goose started to flutter around, "I- I didn't actually mean to-" She mumbled out as Glen claimed it to be impressive. It was not impressive! It was anything but impressive! It was an utter failure, actually! The ducks she had made were so cute but now... The goose was scaring them. Oh for Merlin's sake, she should catch it. Yes, smart, she could catch it and take it to Professor Lian and ask her to help.
"I- Wh- Professor Cutie-- Equinox!" She exclaimed, panicking a little and accidentally letting slip a nickname that she ought not to be before nodding. Right. Yes. Of course. They could just reverse it. That was so simple. She pointed at the goose, moving her wand around trying to aim it at the goose that was moving fast.
The hufflepuff just stood there, audibly breathing as she moved her wand around to track the goose but made absolutely zero attempts at casting anything. Was it just avifors? Would it just reverse it back? No no, there was a spell for this right? There was another one. Uh... What was it again? Perhaps it was her transfiguration skill - or lack thereof - showing or her panic but either way, she could not quite recall the spell, "Uhh what's the spell...?" She asked hoping that Glen would be able to do this better. The cute professor was going to judge her so much. It was bad enough that she sucked at the subject that he had previously taught as it was. This was not helping.

Professor Cutie???
WHAT.
Snapped out of the short initial panic moment of 'oh fuck, there's a teacher' that occurred as soon as he heard Professor Equinox'es voice, despite this whole thing being instigated and therefore sanctioned by a teacher, Glen stared at Serena in shock. This was hardly the time to … what? … flirt with a teacher? Even by accident. He shook his head. “Uh.” He wasn't sure what to do. Well. There was one thing he supposed. He could actually greet the professor. “Hello Professor Equinox.”
Reverse the Goose? With what spell? Oh. Wait, there was that Untransfiguration Spell, right? Like a Finite just for Transfigurations … what was it again? Oh! Reparo- no. Repari-something. Reparo was the repairing stuff (which made it make sense that the spells began similarly probably) but... concentrate! How did that spell go again? Reparifrack? No. Reparifargé? That seemed closer … He gulped. Well, he could at least attempt to reverse the Goose – what could go wrong, after all. Maybe he should double check that he was thinking of the correct spell? “Re-, uh, Reparifargee or something, right?” No, that also seemed wrong. Was there even a vowel syllable thing at the end of the incantation? OH! That was it! “Reparifarge!” He – oh shoot. Had he accidentally cast the spell just now? He wasn't even sure it was the correct one! But no, nothing had happened. Phew!

She was not sure if it was possible but if it was, her usually brown cheeks were certainly turning a shade of pink. She gaped at the professor before turning to Glen, as though he might be able to solve this whole thing. He was doing a lot better at keeping his cool than she was. Oh for Merlin's sake, did she actually just call the Head of Ravenclaw a 'cutie', that was super weird right? That was completely unintended. But he was rather cute! He was nice and friendly and quite a good looking guy - right? At least, he did not look as old as most of the professors here!
Why was she thinking about this? This was not the time nor the place! "RIGHT! YES!" She quickly as she pointed in the air towards Glen, moving her hand up and down as though as was saying he was right and agreeing with him. Reparifarge! Of course, it was so obvious. Why did she not figure that one out, it was so clear. Quickly gripping her wand, "Right, we can fix this, of course, yes," She continued, mostly telling herself as she answered the professor. Pointing towards the nearest duck, she started to cast.
It took a little while to backtrack their steps and fix everything they had created. The goose was the hardest to catch for her - she ran after it but it kept flapping its wing and evading her. Serena chased after it, as though playing a game of tag or well, duck duck goose.
"Right... let's... never do this again," She replied after they both had managed to finally chase down the whole group and reverse them. Leaning against the wall, she panted as she tried to control her breathe once more. It was pretty fun, although quite the work out when the little rascals evaded the spell. Unfortunately, it was a lot easier to transfigure inanimate objects into animate ones. The other way around, however, was not so easy.
Scratching her head, Serena looked sheepishly at Glen, "Well uh I'll see you around?" She offered, hoping to get out of here quickly after the awkwardness of getting caught - and her embarrassing moment not too long prior. Quickly, she grabbed her belongings and made her way out of the corridors after apologising once more to the professor. With that, she escaped the corridor and headed back to the badger den.
