The long, grey halls of the corridors greeted Elena as she exited the History of Magic classroom lugging along her book bag. A bag that seemed to be bulging almost as if it was ready to burst and jump out at the nearest person. The contents of said bag were questionable at the very least, sure, you had your average everyday course textbooks, some crumpled pieces of parchments, and a plastic rectangular box wrapped in red foil..what the contents were would not be known to the naked eye but it was something that the Gryffindor prized very highly judging from how little wrinkles could be seen on the foil. Her footsteps echoed across the floor as she walked eyeing a portrait that seemed intent on challenging her in a sense.

A man dressed in a suit of armor ontop a horse pointed his lance at her eyeing the girl. "Hold there, traveler! Stand and fight!"He waved his lance at a threatning manner which only served to send him tumbling off his horse. The young Gryffindor couldn't help but laugh as the supposed warrior dusted himself off before attempting his' threats again. She'd heard rumors of a portrait that challenged everyone..Sir Cadogan to be exact. Exactly what he was doing here was beyond her but frankly, it was quite entertaining. "I think the winner of this challenge has already beend decided." She told the crazed knight gently before making her way forward.

It seemed though the portrait was not too keen to let the insult pass as Sir Cadogan followed her through several pictures emitting cries from several pictures. Soon after, the entire hallway was in a uproar from the portraits all emitting shrieks or something of the sort as the knight rode around trying to challenge her. Elena sighed deeply glancing around her. Even when she was alone, she wasn't."QUIET!"Just like that, the corridor resumed it's peaceful slumber as she approached whatever portrait the knight would be in giving him a glare of sorts. "There's some challenges you can't win..now if you don't want a Tongue-Tying Curse, I suggest leaving." The thought of a witch casting such magic upon him was enough for the knight to spur his horse and ride through the portraits back to his respective portrait though he left a corridor full of screaming portraits as he rode through...again. Elena sighed as she looked up at the roof. "That's..not...this never gets easy..does it?"

The corridors were typically a rather mundane part of the school. It was the one place that people frequently traveled through to get between places, and it was especially annoying during the day when there were crowds pushing through to get where they wanted. But even that was normal. It was something to be expected. In Hogwarts, it was hard to know what to really expect. Magic was a constant, that much was true. Saskia was very well-accustomed to it and had essentially lived her life surrounded with magic, after all. There wasn't any harm in turning a beetle into a button, nor did anyone really bat an eye when someone casted the Incendio spell in a duel. But there was still wonder in the ordinary. The sun was something that everyone was accustomed to, and yet sunrises were always so enchanting to watch. Magic was no different.

Every room in Hogwarts was adorned with magic in some way. Even in the corridors. Paintings and tapestries adorned the walls, and statues stood close by, as if they were watching the every move of any travelers that came across them. It was a fascinating sight, similar to looking at various animals in a zoo. The paintings sometimes talked, and the statues might even budge a bit from their spot, and all they really did was provide some entertainment for people who might have needed some company when no one else was around. Although it must have been sad if someone were to spend most of their time with paintings instead of actual people. Not that Saskia could judge for herself.

Today would be different. She had heard portraits talk many times before. To herself, to other people, and even amongst themselves sometime. But it was rather uncommon to hear the paintings scream. It was concerning, really. Either a student or a group of students were badly harassing the poor portraits or they must have witnessed something absolutely terrifying. Regardless, she needed to investigate. If there truly was something that needed to be taken cared of, she needed to take action. Even if it ended up being a false alarm, it would have at least satiated her curiosity.

But as she continued to walk down the hallway, she could see something blur past her. It wasn't exactly a figure- if anything, it seemed to have come from the walls themselves. As she swiveled her head to the side, she could barely make out an armoured knight running off on a horse. Huh. Weird. Why was he running? And what was with him invading the other portraits?

Staring straight ahead, she saw a girl by herself. She couldn't really make out her features from afar, but even from a distance, she could tell she was unusually pretty. It was hard to take her eyes off of her, and it was only when she caught herself staring that she had to force herself to pry her eyes away. But from what she had seen, she didn't appear too happy. Perhaps she was also affected by whatever happened, or she might have actually known what happened. Saskia continued walking until she was close enough to the girl.

"Hey. Rough day?" she asked, smiling apologetically. She may not have known her entire role in this, but she still seemed like she might have been in a bad mood. Of course, it was mostly polite to leave a person alone when they might not exactly be happy at the moment, but there was always that chance that she could have helped instead, especially if it there was a chance it could have involved the previous incident.

Seriously, when did inanimate objects get this pesky? Well, they were't exactly inanimate if they could move and talk, now could they? Elena briefly struggled wiht the fact of contemplating the actuality of what a painting at Hogwarts fell under. Something she'd have to ask a Professor..that one was a real brain freeze. "Look, I'm sorry but yelling your head off isn't gonna get us anywhere." SHe said speaking to a bunch of portraits in a attempt to get them to calm down. One of the paintings which contained a group of women seated around a tea table got up with a huff and walked out of their frame. Perhaps they were ticked by the fact that the knight had ridden his horse right through the tea table and shattered it. Still, what was she to do? Challenge him? It seemed like a silly thing given the situation. He was a painting, one good Incendio and he would be gone. Not much of a challenge.

The Gryffindor girl nearly jumped when she heard the other voice, feminine in nature. Had she been idling too long? She turned on the spot to see who it was..ok, not anyone she knew. Still, the situation was..an interesting one at best. Elena wondered how she got herself into these circumstances, it was almost like the castle wanted her to endure all this and she was not appreciating this. "Oh, hi! You..you could say that." She said nodding at some of the angry glares shot her way from the portraits all whom were in the process of cleaning up whatever mess the knight had left behind. "Portraits are interesting creatures. Some old knight or something tried to 'challenge' me as he liked it. I declined and well, here's the aftermath." Elena didn't try to be mean, she was a nice person. At least, the Gryffindor liked to think so. How was she supposed to control factors that were out of her control?

"This castle really is full of surprises." She sighed eyeing the residents of the respective frames as their mutters and side converstations eventually died down. Finally, peace and quiet. Something she had been longing for. It was in this moment that the legendary knight chose to return, the whinney of the horse heard as he rode in through a random frame. "That is my problem." She said nodding towards the knight who pointed a very large lance at the both of them. "Aha! So you've brought your squire, have you, woman?! It matters not, none shall unseat Sir Cadogan for as long as I breathe!""You're a painting and besides, I think we read about you in History of Magic. Didn't you die trying to kill a wyvern or something?

"Silence, you knaves! Such blasemphy will not be tolerated. Stand fast and fight, En garde, heathens!" The knight proceeded to jump off his horse waving his lance in a wild manner jumping up and down. Elene glanced at Saskia and back at the knight. "I don't think he's gonna leave us alone and I really don't feel like jinxing a painting..it just seems..cruel." That..and the risk of catching a detention..for something quite foolish. The warrior was quite intent on the supposed duel, how he was going to do that was a thought that escaped Elena.

Ah, so she was right. Some portraits were wreaking havoc, and one of the portraits was the one to blame. This one in particular was a knight who threw a hissy fit because he couldn't get a duel or something around that. Who would have known portraits could have been so daft? If the knight wanted a fight so bad, he could have at least picked one with one of the other portraits if he wanted a fair fight. The worst he could do to her and the other girl was scream at them until their ears bled out, and even then, they had the freedom to leave if he was going to be such a bother.

"Sounds like he has nothing better to do other than pester random students in the hallways and hope he gets attention for it." It was easy to sympathize with the girl. The last thing she probably wanted was for some loony portrait knight to bother her when she had somewhere to go. Then again, what were portraits supposed to do other than stand around and look pretty? Were they really that bored they have to seek other people for company? That might be the case for this knight, if nobody else was willing to spar with him. But that didn't mean they were the right people for the job either.

Saskia had to hold in a laugh as Sir Cadogan continued to talk. With his ridiculous speech and dramatic gesutres, it was hard to ignore his grandiosity. But perhaps laughing would have only made the knight angrier. He seemed to take himself pretty seriously. Even with the dark haired girl trying to talk him down, he refused to stand down. It was going to take more than just talking to get him to shut up at this rate.

"Even if we did cast a jinx on him, it probably won't do anything beyond destroy the actual painting. That also means he can't do anything to us since he's, well, a painting." The idea of fighting a portrait was ridiculous. Merlin knew what the professors would be thinking if they caught some students damaging a portrait for the sake of a one-sided duel. They had to think of something else to shut him up. "What if we just... Don't do anything? He can't hurt us, right? He has to know one way or another that we can't do anything to each other." It wasn't like they had any actual weapons besides their wand to fight back against him, anyway. They could have also made a run for it, but running was a coward's move, and the knight might have made another ruckus in the corridors. Maybe they could have had a better strategy later on, but for now, they could just wait.

The idea of him being referred to as some simple good for nothing seemed to only antagonize Sir Cadogan as his expression formulated into one of outrage. The sheer thought of being talked down by a bunch of kids did not sit well with him as he shook his lance threatingly at them. "I have fought monsters and beasts with more honor than yourselves, deplorable peasants!" Peasants. The very term caused the Gryffindor to smile. This knight really was something. 'I'm sure you have but this really isn't going to get you anywhere. So either you can scurry off and not make a fool or yourself or attemp to do whatever you're trying to at the price of our enertainment." She had to admit, it was a pretty fun sight to watch once you got over the yelling and shouts of the warrior. She dug around in her school bag offering a Choclate Frog to Saskia. "Well, if he won't leave us, might as well entertain ourselves at his ridicolous behavior."

"You go too far! Forward! May this spear strike true and holy!" She watched as the knight urged his horse which only thew up it's front legs bucking him clean off. She winced at the impact. That looked like it hurt. "You ok there?""Silence. I shall return at a more prudent time. The forces of the unseen are guarding you!" Getting to his feet, she watched with a most amused expression as Sir Cadogan wrestled his horse into following him as the duo made their way out of the painitng back to whatever hole they had crawled out of. "Funny little guy." She remarked grinning.

She was sure she was going to see more of him around in the coming days. Though, she doubted he would any less annoying. "Sorry for the hassle, this school just is full of surprises that I unforunately discover every day." Well, not all of the things she had stumbled upon here it seemed the longer she was here, the years just got weirder and weirder. "Oh! I'm Elena by the way! Almost forgot to introduce myself among all the chaos!" Bonding over Choclate Frogs, you couldn't ask for a more perfect turn of events.
