Sean had been in the library studying for the past 2 hours, he often went to the library during his free time - books were his safe place. He walked slow down the corridor on his way to his common room, he had found a book that would help him with his homework and was eager to get started. But a he caught a scent of something he hadn't really smelled in the corridors before, it smelled like cookies. He could also hear a boys voice coming from further down the corridor, it sounded like he was giving samples of something. Sean made his way down curious to see what was going on, he could now see the boy he heard. It was a Slytherin student and he was holding a batch of cookies, handing some out to students passing by. Sean thought this was a bit odd, from what he had learned from his class mates most Slytherin students aren't the nicest people but this boy seemed to be doing something nice. Sean just observed and wondered what was the boy's motivation for this ? Was this his way of making friends ? From what he could tell, the cookies that the boy was giving out looked delicious.

Sean was not socially gifted so he would have never done something like what this boy is doing, he couldn't help but respect it. After a minute or 2, he decided that it would be nice to have something to snack on while doing his homework and walked towards the boy. Sean was a bit taller than him as he usually was with people his own age, he looked at the boy and asked politely "Hi, do you mind if I take one ? They look really good" Sean had a very emotionless expression most of the time and often looked out of place among the other Hufflepuffs but tried his best to smile at the boy.

The boy was carrying his tray of chocolate chip cookies and he would pass the cookies to the other students happily. He wasn't like the typical Slytherin students, mean and giving pranks like a few of them. He could certainly do a prank, but it would not be a mean spirited prank or one that would cause harm to the other person. He continued to pass out the cookies to other students who seemed to be happy about having sweets before lunchtime. He would soon notice another boy and he would wave to him when he heard him speak. "Of course you may, you can even have an extra cookie!" He would smile sweetly using a polite tone of voice. He had a boyish appearance and looked quite young and cute for being Slytherin. He would need to be protected at all costs because of his cute appearance!

"What is your name?" He asked the older looking boy. "I am Adohiro. I'm a...Slytherin but I guess you could tell." He said as he blushed a bit red. It seemed more like an embarrassment whenever he would reveal his class. He would get weird stares if he has done so so he preferred to not do it.

Maria decided to explore more of her new environment, wanting to see more of the castle. She decided to take out the new hardbound journal, with it’s make shift brown paper jacket protecting its plain black cover, hoping to find somewhere to sketch or write. Once she made her way out of her dorm she climbed up a random set of stairs that took her to a corridor. There were students loitering about, others rushing to go somewhere. As she made her way through the chaos of the hallway, she halted when her nose picked up something that she didn’t expect.

“That smells good, what is it though...?” She thought as she turned her head trying to pinpoint the source. It was a sweet scent and very familiar.

”Wait a minute, I know what these are.”

“Cookies!” Realizing she had just blurted that out loud she quickly covered her mouth. Luckily the hustle and bustle of the corridor drowned out her exclamation.

A few head turns later she saw two boys standing in the hallway. True enough, one of them was holding a tray of cookies! The boy who held the tray she noticed, was from Slytherin. The other boy was more familiar. Maybe she had seen him around the common room or at the Great Hall? But she was sure he was from her House.

She took a moment to observe them, they were both smiling and their interaction looked pleasant. The cookies also looked very good. Deciding that she had nothing to lose, she took a deep breath and approached the boys.

“Hi, sorry to interrupt, I was just passing through but those cookies smell delicious.” She smiled. “I’m Maria by the way.”

Adohiro would be holding the tray of cookies until he heard the voice of a female. She had introduced herself as Maria and he would nod politely. "Hello, Marie. I am Adohiro." He would say in a polite and meek manner. He was a bit shy, but he did want to make friends with others. It would also be very neat to make friends with those of a different class most likely and even grade! "You may have some, you too Sean." He said giving a welcoming smile. He was worried that he would appear as a scared small boy and he sure didn't want that. He wanted to be a powerful wizard like his brother, but also be a wizard known for his kindness and gentleness. Nothing like a typical Slytherin, but he just wanted to be his own person. He had plastic gloves on him which he handed both Marie and Sean the cookies. Hygiene was very important! He wouldn't want to make people ill because of his own fault. "I hope you're not allergic to wheat or flour. I used those." He said politely with a smile. "They're chocolate chip cookies." He would smile sweetly.

Sean smiled at the boy, "Nice to meet you Adohiro. I'm Sean, Sean Hearth and I'm a Hufflepuff". He noticed how the boy seemed embarrassed when mentioning his house, did he not agree about being a Slyherin ? Sean had wondered himself if the sorting hat had not made a mistake putting him in Hufflepuff, after all he was a quiet and not very friendly looking person which was not the regular look for a Hufflepuff. Being a muggle-born he didn't know much about the different houses and the traits the people in them usually have but he had read a lot about it during his time at Hogwarts and after everything he felt like he was probably meant to be a Ravenclaw or even maybe a Slytherin but no he had been put into Hufflepuff. He loved his house and the people in it but he felt a bit like an anomaly around them.

He had just introduced himself when a girl he had seen in the common room and classes came over to them. She was a Hufflepuff like him but Sean didn't know her name, but the dark haired girl soon introduced herself as Maria and had just like him - smelled the cookies Adohiro was giving out. He looked at the girl and tried his best to seem friendly once more, he wasn't used to this much socializing and was afraid of saying something in a way that he didn't mean to which would happen quite often. "Nice to meet you Maria, I'm Sean" he had an emotionless face and sounded a bit too formal but managed to crack a smile at the end. He took the cookie that Adohiro was handing to him "Thank you, I'll look forward to eating it while studying".

Adohiro smiled softly when Sean had introduced himself and he would nod to show he was paying attention. He heard him say he was a Hufflepuff which he looked at him quietly. He sure didn't fit the criteria at all! He would cast a glance at him and then to Marie. "Do you want to be friends, Marie and Sean?" He asked them both. It seemed like it was too direct to say, but he didn't know anyone currently at all. It was a bit difficult and he would look away. "What are your interests or hobbies?" He asked trying to make small talk but he seemed to be lost at what to say. He hadn't had many friends growing up and he sure wasn't popular at all.

He was the kid that everyone asked to copy off of him but nothing like a popular like a few kids growing up. "What classes do you have?" He wondered what the classes they had, he was looking forward to the dark arts class and also liked potions. He wanted to be a great wizard! "How old is everyone?" He asked with a smile. He would avert his eyes away a bit out of shyness and of respect. He was taught it wasn't good to look at someone in their eye at all.

The boys introduced themselves as Adohiro (the Slytherin boy giving out cookies) and Sean (the Hufflepuff boy). She took note of the former’s politeness and timid nature, and that the latter seemed a bit stiff and maybe a little uncomfortable. Perhaps she came on a bit too strong? But she also noticed him crack a smile which eased her worries.

Maria smiled at the boys and took the cookie Adohiro held out to her. “Nope, definitely not allergic to either of those, but thanks for asking.” She said before cupping her hand and biting into the cookie.

“Mmm...MMM!” Her eyes widened in appreciation. The chocolate chips seemed to melt in her mouth and the cookie was soft on the inside and just a little crunchy on the outside. They reminded her of the ones she used to get in a small bakery before going home.

“Dish ish amashing!” She said in between bites. While she devoured her sugary treat Adohiro asked her and her Housemate if they wanted to be friends. It was the first time she had been out right asked if she wanted to be friends with someone so it kind of took her back a bit, but she definitely wanted to be friends with these people. They seemed trustworthy and kind, and she had yet to make any friends, so why not?

“Sure!” She replied with a grin.

He then asked questions about them which she appreciated. She found his methods a bit unusual but she attributed it to the boy’s politeness.

“Well,” she started after she swallowed the last bit of cookie. “I’m a first year, Hufflepuff” She turned to the other boy. “Actually Sean, I think I’ve seen you before, in the common room probably?” She casually asked, hoping to get him a little more comfortable with her presence.

“Anyway, I’m sort of new to this whole thing so I’m rather lost without my schedule. In fact, I’m not actually sure what my classes are called.” She laughed nervously, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks.

“As for interests as hobbies, well, let’s see, I really like cooking and baking as well, I’m also pretty into books and drawing,” she timidly held her journal up “gardening, a bit of craftwork here and there. Oh, and I’m eleven.” She explained. “What about you?”

Sean looked at the young boy and was surprised at the way he asked if he wanted to be friends. Sean didn't have many friends due to his demeanor people usually didn't talk to him much so making a few more friends was obviously a good thing for him. He smiled a bit an nodded, they seemed like nice people and he could do with some more socializing. Adohiro had more questions it seemed which Sean was happy to answer, "I don't have a lot of hobbies, mostly reading and writing. Though I have started to enjoy watching Quidditch". He listened to Maria's reply and smiled a bit "Yeah, I think I've seen you there too and in some classes".

Sean enjoyed classes, he enjoyed learning and being a Muggle-born everything was new and exciting. "I've been to a few classes and my favorites have to be Charms, Potions and History of Magic. Even though most people think history is the most boring one" there was a lot to learn at Hogwarts and Sean was determined to succeed in this new world he lived in. He took a little bite from the cookie he was holding, he couldn't wait until he got to the common room "Wow that's really good" he had never baked before so he was really impressed by Adohiro's skill.

He would blush when he was told he was a good cook and he would look away, his ears red. It always felt weird getting complimented about himself. "I'm not that good of a cook."  His cheeks were red and he soon heard Sean's hobbies along with Marie. "I personally don't have a lot of hobbies. I do like to study and practice my transfiguration. But I am terrible at the class." He would study the features of the two noting their appearances. "My name is Adohiro, it means 'peace within the chaos.' I just turned eleven today." He mentioned and he would hold the heavy plate of cookies. Ther e were only a few cookies left, about six in total. "Sean, Marie, you can have the rest of the cookies if you want. You can both have three each if you only want to." Adohiro seemed to be quite reserved and shy, he always felt socially awkward to his peers even though he really wasn't. He was a bit self-conscience. Growing up he was always pressured to study and do well in school so he didn't have much time to form bonds with other people his age.
