It's a Great Day for a Fight
Everything was going great until they showed up. Catriona had been on her way to the library to study, as per her usual routine. Only this time, there were several large 2nd years blocking her path. Two Gryffindor boys and a Slytherin girl. They reminded her of something, or someone, but Catriona didn't waste too much time trying to figure out where from.@Meenauh Silmataurea
"Where'd you think you're going?" one of the Gryffindors, the red-haired one, said.
"The library. Last time I checked that wasn't a crime." She really shouldn't have said that. She really shouldn't have said that.
The other Gryffindor, the blonde one, laughed. "What, you don't recognize us?"
The memory came back to Catriona just as the words left his mouth. That day with Gem in the library, there'd been those awful oafs who'd punched him. The ones who were messing up the books. That day had been amazing if not for the dimwits currently standing in front of her. She gritted her teeth, anger flooding her mind.
"Did you come back to wreak more havoc on books? Because I'm afraid I don't have any with me for you to deface. Or friends for you to punch for that matter." She spit the words at them, her fury clouding her better judgement. And she had several books with her in her bag, but she was hoping the idiots would fall for her bluff.
They didn't. "Kids like you always have books," said the Slytherin with a lazy eye roll. Before Catriona could blink her back was out of her grip and in the girl's. She grinned at Catriona, like a shark about to eat its prey whole, and withdrew one of Catriona's library books from the bag. "Oh look."
The anger was quickly replaced by fear. Fear that made her feel like she was free-falling, hurtling through the air with the ground steadily getting closer. "Don't touch that," Catriona said, her words tripping over themselves on their way out. "Don't touch that," she said again, her voice steadier.
"You're the one who started this whole fight" the girl said, tossing the book to the red-head. Catriona cringed. "Look, let's just shake hands and make up or whatever." Despite her flippant words, the girl smiled at Catriona, extending her hand as some sort of peace offering.
Catriona looked down at the hand carefully. It was most definitely a trap and it would be better if she ran, but Catriona couldn't help but feel guilty. She had yelled at them and been rather mean in the library. Maybe they were truly sorry. If Catriona apologized, maybe they could become friends. It would probably be better if she just apologized.
"I'm sorry for being so rude the other day," Catriona said, shaking the girl's hand in her own. "I didn't mean to--" A jolt of pain lanced up her arm, cutting her off as she yelped in pain. The girl was twisting her arm, not hard enough to break it but enough to incapacitate her for the moment.
Thinking quickly over the haze of pain, Catriona grabbed her wand and pointed it at the girl, whispering "Tarantellagra." The girl let go of Catriona's arm, eyes growing in confusion as her feet began to move unbidden. Taking advantage of her confusion, Catriona moved back a couple of steps until she hit the wall. She was fully prepared to cast Tarantellagra until she couldn't anymore. She would make them pay for hurting Gem, for hurting her. The thought of running was so far in the back of her mind. She didn't even consider it.
Both boys were closing in on her now, wands drawn and fury in their eyes. The girl was close behind them.
Merlin, Catriona was totally and utterly screwed.
"Every important thing that's ever happened to me has been in a library."

It's a Great Day for a Fight
What Meenauh hated the most was going from a place to another place. She loved walking in general. Walking outside. But she hated the mazes of Hogwarts when it came to moving from the library to the dorms and stuff like that. She dreamt to learn apparition.
Coming close to a corridor corner she heard voices. Several voices and very fake tones. And then she heard a yelp. She peeked over the corner and saw two quite big boys and a girl, who was squeezing another girl's hand so fiercely that Meenauh already thought it was broken. Then the squeezer started to dance, quite involuntarily and so unexpectedly that Meenauh made quite an effort to restrain a surprised chuckle.
Quite a brave girl that small little lady was. Too brave for a Ravenclaw. The two boys started to move closer to the little brave bird and Meenauh couldn't think what on Earth could two big boys could possibly do to a small younger girl. The world was cruel and violent, but Meenauh promised herself to clear it from any sort of vermin.
She pulled out her wand, aiming at the dancing beauty, who had been already saved with a Finite from one of the boys but still seemed a bit disorientated.
"Depulso," she concentrated hard and whispered, and swept her wand from the bully girl to a set of armour nearby. The loud sound of falling armour filled the corridor with lots of echoes as the girl was pushed hard right into it.
"I thought I stopped the stupid newbie spell," said one of the guys, switching his attention from the small girl to his friend, who was sitting among pieces of metal, rubbing a bruise on her forehead.
"It was not that spell, you idiot," the girl barked back at the boy.
As the boy moved Meenauh could clearly see the small victim and she gasped as she recognised her — that poor girl, who she had met at the barbeque. That poor girl who was sent to Hogwarts before the Sorting! So she was a first-year, already bullied in the corridors during her first month.
Meenauh was terrified. And angry. She swept the wand once again whispering the incantation at the armour chest lying on the floor and sent it over towards the boy. The armour hit him in the legs and he fell down on the ground without being hurt much.
"What the- ?!" all three bullies exclaimed simultaneously.
"Is it some 'exed armour?" the still standing boy said, lowering the volume of his voice.
Meenauh could have used other spells, but she hoped that one would be unrecognised by the bullies, unlike duelling spells that they probably knew better than any other.
The boy gave Meenauh a direction and she kept casting the Banishing Charm at the armour pieces, sending them flying around. The trio tried casting several spells at the armour but there was nothing to counter-spell. And Meenauh already felt quite exhausted from the rapid casting, which she had never believed she would need practising. She started to think of how to finish her improvised performance as soon as possible because it was a matter of seconds before they would figure out there was someone responsible for that. And then they will probably break her fingers or something.
'"Fumos!" she said, a bit louder, hoping to catch them off balance as they seemed already kind of confused. The smoke started to fill the corridor quickly and Meenauh stepped away from the corner right into the smoke. She needed a distraction to grab Catriona and run away. But the distraction was the previous act, now she needed a culmination. Something that would be harmless but still frightening enough to push away the bullies.
She drew her wand up, and shouted at the top of her lungs:
"Abracadabra!"
And then she instantly came down to a whisper, slashing the air in front of her with a Green Sparks Charm.
The sparks were emitting quite solid green light that was diffusing in the smoke and creating a nice amplified full-fetched effect of a green flash, mildly resembling the forbidden spell. Under other circumstances, anyone would probably be able to see through this fake performance, but the already confused trio failed. Meenauh heard a deafening scream of the girl bully and after a sequence of armour clanking sounds, she heard the trio stampeding away and swearing.
The smoke didn't dissipate easily, so she was still standing in the middle of it, not quite hearing or seeing Catriona.
"Hello there! Catriona, it's me, er, Meenauh. We met this summer. Are you alright?" she said loudly while coming to a realisation that the girl could also be affected by the little show.
As she tried to search for the girl, she couldn't find any trace of her. She calmly waited for the fog to dissipate and indeed the girl was gone. Probably she was too scared to stay in place, but Meenauh couldn't blame her. Still full of the adrenaline in her blood, she looked around for the final time and walked away from the corridor in a bit faster pace than usual.
