House Elves did not judge, you see. They did not ask, they did not wonder, they did not stare. They simply served. Disapperated away to fetch the delicacies she desired, and returned with a silver platter, then went about their business without a word. She was always kind to them, because of this. Especially at Hogwarts, she was not sure exactly to whom the Elves were fully loyal to and she figured niceties might go in her favor if a situation ever arose.

Either way she preferred the silence of the kitchen. Its noises were simple and calming, its smells strong, yet comforting. Of course, she would make her appearance in the Great Hall as often as she could. She was a Professor and must keep up the appearances for her students as well as her colleagues. Though, truly, she did enjoy Hogwarts. The year was almost over and she found herself a bit sad about the thought of Summer. Her students could be brilliant, they could be daft, but most of all they were entertaining. Those who joked around in class, she always smiled outside and giggled in her head. Those who had a true interest in her subject she could talk with for hours as long as they were willing to listen. There had been few in her lifetime that she had encountered like this, and here, at Hogwarts, they seemed to be around every corner.

For tonight she thought she would visit the Kitchens before heading up to the Great Hall to sit with her peers. A small Elf who offered to aid her in her dinner had just left to gather her requests. They were not usually gone too long, but she still sat down at one of the long tables to wait in silence. For not she simply watched the House Elves as they skittered and scurried around.

The Kitchen was dim, as always. The fire roaring as cauldrons hung above, cooking stews and soups. Adelaide's hair shone in the fire light as the bright ginger strands fell about her shoulders. Her deep blue skirt, paired nicely with her light white blouse, swept the ground as she sat, her ankles crossed and her elbows propped up upon the hard wooden table before her.

Often the best way to get what you wanted was to go to the source. Sebastián had developed a bit of a habit of visiting the kitchen and getting the best baked goods for the common rooms, and his own office. The Head of House had a unique authority to request things from the House Elves as well, so custom creations often appeared for his students. Usually when the Spaniard visited the dungeon kitchens there was no one else there. To his surprise, this time he found one of the newer professors sitting inside.

"Hiding from the students already?" He asked the Runes professor teasingly. "It is not so bad, we get our own table."

Sebas took a seat opposite of Adelaide, though felt a bit cramped at House Elf sizes tables. He waved to some of his favorite elves who started with one of his usual orders. The smells of the kitchen were always great, which was part of why he came down to visit so often. Professor Cazarez was far from being a glutton or a Hufflepuff, but he still enjoyed a good meal.

"I'm Sebastián," he said after a moment, introducing himself officially. "I know we've sort of met, but not personally. How are you adjusting to the new job?"

Ah, the History of Magic professor. She saw him walk in, a man of that size in a kitchen full of three foot elves. His name was Cazarez. He certainly didn't sound English and she had began wondering where he was from. Of course, it wasn't French. Although her accent had dulled over the years, there still was a slight something there every once in a while. He looked like a giant as he sat across from her. Of course, the tables were too small for her as well, but she was much smaller of a human and didn't mind it too much.

She laughed quietly as his witty remark. She closed her eyes for a moment and smiled at the other Professor. "You got me." She joked, though she couldn't think of another excuse at the moment. She looked down at the grainy table.

That was until she heard the distinct sound of something apperating nearby. Her head jerked up and, from unerneath the table, she pulled her wand of of a charmed pocket sewn into her skirt. Looking at the House Elf that had returned with a platter of her dinner. Quickly, pointing her wand at the platter in the Elf's hand. Evanesco she thought, and flicked her wand. The platter disappeared and the Elf jumped in surprise. Looking up at Adelaide in confusion, the poor House Elf disapperated once again as the witch gave her a stern look.

Looking back her new companion, she marveled again at his accent. Sebastian, yes that was his first name. She was not as good as she wished in remembered names, though she had recalled his surname. "Ah, I am enjoying the material. I have taught once before and enjoyed that as well. And, of course I've always had an interest in Runes. Also in History of Magic, actually." She mentioned, waving her hand across the table at the History of Magic Professor before her.

Sebastián wondered for a brief moment why there had been so many staff changes at the school this year, besides just himself at the beginning of the year. The mask fiasco must have professors leaving. It was the only thing he could think of to explain it. As a student back in his time, even after such dark events, the Professors seemed to be permanent fixtures in the school. Though it was clear he already liked this version of the Runes professor better than the last. It was supposed to be something that went hand-in-hand with his own class in a way, but he had not gotten along so well with Professor Rosier so it was hard to recommend students take the optional lessons or pull him in for consult.

"Glad to hear it," he said simply at first in response, eyeing her closely now to see what else there was to learn. "Your predecessor and I.., it was not a strong relationship."

He hated comparing someone to who was there before, especially to their face, but this felt like a safe bet. She seemed nice and actually responded to his humor unlike some of the professors he tried to speak with casually. The kitchen seemed an odd place to go too in depth, but it was at least private. Sebas motioned back towards her before he spoke again.

"In second year, I am doing a piece on history of runes to sort of introduce the topic and encourage those who wish it to pursue your class as an elective," he explained carefully before pausing to make an offer. "I had always hoped to get the Rune professor themselves to help with the lesson and meet the kids. If you're interested, we could plan a little lesson."

His recent experienced with trying to meet Sorrel, and the success he had, made him very cautious of how he tried to speak to new people; especially women. Leonie had also been a learning experience of meeting a new professor. So far he had struck out pretty hard on the whole get-to-know-you piece. This would likely be a bit more successful it seemed, but he still proceeded with professionalism rather than being too casual quite yet.

She frowned at the mention of her predacessor. Of course she had never met the man, or woman, and had wondered why they might have left the school. Adelaide was a curious woman and often pressing in her curiosities. And so, of course, she asked Sebastian Cazarez why the pair did not get along. He was correct that their subjects, History of Magic and Ancient Runes certainly had overlapping topics.

"How come you two did not get along?" She asked, unaware that her question could be sensitive. She was often oblivious to things that that. Despite the fact that Adelaide herself had many secrexts, she considered herself pretty open on almost everything besides what had to do with her Dhampir blood. And she did not regularly u dersyand why some were not as open about things she considered relatively unimportant.

As the man with the accent continued she thought she might have placed his accent. It seemed Spanish to her, though she was not positive. She would ask soon.

He continued on about lesson ideas. Not that she wasn't already interested in the man, she certainly was, but she very much liked his idea and it perked her up a bit. "Ah! That would be an amazing help!" She exclaimed, "I don't think many young ones are interested much in Runes. It's not a very popular subject now a days. I know runes are mentioned a bit in Tansfiguration classes, and so my students are coming to me with a knowledge of the runic alphabet at least, which is nice. That way I don't have to waste time on them memorizing it and we can focus on more important topics." She was glad her students already knew so much. Since the class started in third year she had already two less years than most of her peers to teach the students.

She had been slightly disappointed in her class numbers. She understood runes would be an unpopular subject. But she still found herself a bit saddened. And so she was all about propoting her class. "I would absolutely adore helping you in your classroom!" She grinned, her mouth closed, only a hint of teeth.

Excitement about working with him was certainly much different than he had been expecting. This Professor seemed much nicer than some of the previous ones he had to deal with lately. People were on edge lately with the events and threat to Hogwarts. It was fair for them to maybe not be as friendly, but Sebastián was frustrated that he had still not found much of a friendship with his fellow professors. Trust was there and working relationships went fine, for the most part, but there was something more that was missing. Even at Gringott's he had friends among the Curse-Breakers.

"Why?" He repeated back the first question in summary before answering. "He had more interest in lording over students than teaching them. He wanted to be their cool friend rather than a good teacher. There is a line to watch."

She likely did not want the whole story, and Sebas had no interest in really diving deep into Professor Rosier's time at Hogwarts. The Spaniard was really more interested in getting to know this new professor a bit better. While history was important, this was the present. Not all history was worthy of study and discussion.

"That said, it is refreshing to see you would like to work with me," he said, his accent emphasized in this sentence due to a tougher word. "We'll have to meet somewhere else, hopefully more private and not at a short table in the dungeons. Discuss where we want classes to cross and what you want students to know when they come to class."

Professor Cazarez smiled wide, he himself not being afraid to show teeth when he did so. This seemed to be great as far as he was concerned. He quietly hoped the rumors and events they would discuss another time would not scare her away. That was something to save for another time.

"So, tell me," he added after a bit of an awkward laugh. "What brings you here? Why Hogwarts?"

Adelaide frowned at Sebastian's recount of her predecessor. She had always enjoyed teaching, she always thought she had a higher view of it then most of her colleagues. When she worked at the Muggle school, she learned a lot about children themselves. She learned that teaching was not just about educating children on a specific subject, but that it was so much more. It was not just preparing them for future tests or exams, it was preparing them for actual life. Especially in the magical world they lived in, where life was strange and often unpredictable. And so she just shook her head at Sebastian's words, happy that she had replaced this 'lording' teacher.

She chuckled at Cazarez's mention of short tables. "Yes, perhaps it would be better to lesson plan within one of our offices. Just then she heard, again, the distinct noise of something apperating nearby. She looked up at the space of the kitchen behind her colleague, and saw that the Elf had returned. With a quick sniff she could tell that the House Elf had understood her previous stern look, and had returned with food more appropriate for the situation.

She smiled at the being as the Elf placed the platter on the table before her and lifted the lid covering it. It was a simple plate of cooked steak and red skin mashed potatoes. Adelaide sighed small to herself as this dish was not what she had originally planned, but it would do well while Sebastian was around.

Taking a bite of her potatoes, she mulled for a second over the History of Magic Professor's latest question. I have family in Scotland, she said, I had come to a point in my life where I was not sure what to do or where to go. And when I arrived to stay with family I simply stumbled across the position of Runes Professor at Hogwarts. I've been a teacher before, but hadn't really thought about doing it again. She paused for a moment thinking her words carefully.

Hogwarts is very different from anywhere I've been before, especially Beauxbatons. I really do enjoy it, though it's quite dark, isn't it? She smiled, then thought once more. "By the way, where are you from? Your accent is very strong." She wondered if he was from a country she had lived before, she'd been to quite a few.

This new girl had good taste. Her food order finally arrived, somehow fairly slow for House Elves, but he didn't really notice. The Spaniard eyeballed the steak and potatoes before glancing back to the woman herself. She explained a bit about herself and it was only fair she asked perhaps the obvious of him as well. Sebas was not English by birth and everyone could tell that no matter how long he had lived there.

"Family is important," he said, acknowledging what the Runes Professor had said about moving to Scotland. "My family moved to England when I was young, so most of my life has been... here."

At first he did not give an answer to her question. His accent was something he had tried to eliminate in the past, but these days he accepted it. Sebas saw it as a piece of himself and it gave him an aura of mystery at times. Keeping a new girl guessing was too mean though for him to dedicate to it. He offered instead to reveal the truth.

"I was born in Spain, Pamplona to be exact," he said, not sure she would even recognize the town. "The accent never quite goes away, does it?"

Sebastián was trying to get a full picture of this woman. She seemed different but he couldn't put his finger on why. He mostly care that she was kind and seemed to be willing to spend time with him and become a friend possibly. This was more important to him than any off feelings he might have at the time. Spending more time with her would be needed to see if they could become close, but he liked her already.

"Feel free to swing by my office any time, or maybe I'll come visit you?" His voice sincere as he spoke. "When are you usually free?"

It wasn't that he wanted to leave yet, but he wanted to make sure the offer was there. Sebas remained in his seat and seemed plenty comfortable to stay. Eventually a House Elf even brought over a platter of sweets alongside a platter of breads. He gave a slight glare to the elf for making him look like a weird glutton.

"These are for the common room." He defended himself quietly.

Adelaide wondered at her own accent. If Cazarez had lived in England his whole life and his accent was still this strong, Syrah wondered if her own French accent, despite living numerous different places and knowing numerous different languages, was still as strong as it was in her youth. She knew, of course, that an accent still existed, as Sebastian had said, they never really go away.

Though at the mention of Spain, Adelaide grew excited. He was from somewhere she had lived before. Though she lived in Madrid, while he Pamplona, it was still the same country, same language. "I thought your accent sounded familiar! She excitedly exclaimed in Spanish, the man's first language. "I lived in Madrid for little while. Beautiful country! She always loved connecting with people using other languages. She was glad her school life had been somewhat lonely, or else she would not have had the time to study the many languages she knew now, and therefore would, probably, have been stuck in France her whole life.

She smiled at her new friends invitation to join him in his office. She was excited, too, at the prospect of working together on lessons. The more student knew about Runes before coming to her, the easier it would be on her, and the better grades her students would probably get. Switching back to English, she responded, "If I am not in class, then I spend most of the peak of the day at my desk. When the sun is at it's highest usually. When evening comes around I enjoy walking around the grounds, though." An unfortunate downside to her condition meant that while she was allowed to be in direct sunlight, unlike her father's kind, the sun would surely roast her after a short while. She loved the outdoors and the fresh air and sky, but she was forced to retreat during the hottest points of the day and return when the sun was less harsh.

She raised her hand to her mouth, attempting to cover her smile that grew when the man sheepishly gave an excuse to his mass amounts of sweets and breads. "Well, I'll be sure to sneak into the Common Room to grab a few of those myself." She assured, "I am a Gryffindor, technically. Until then, though, I'll finish up here, motioning to her nearly full plate of food, "And meet you at the Professors Table in the Great Hall soon, yes?"
