You may NOT have a second account. Any accounts in validation that have been created with a similar IP will be left to wait until we have received confirmation that it is not a multi-account. If you want a dorm mate or family member to join the site you must owl us their name when they sign up, or else they cannot be processed for validation.

Again, no multiaccounts, at all. If you want another character, you will have to contact a head of house about deleting your account and creating a new one. The only exception is for professors with student accounts.

At the end of every month (or around then), inactive RP threads are closed. Inactive is defined as a thread that hasn’t been posted in for a month. You'll still be able to visit them and reminisce about the good ol' days.

Example: At the end of August, any thread that hasn't been posted in August will be closed.

Should you feel the need to revive a topic, owl any prefect and it shall be unlock.

(Side note: I assume everyone doesn't want me spamming your owls with closure messages. I figured an announcement would be sufficient. If it's not, owl me your thoughts.)

It has recently come to the Professor's attention that the comment function for returned homework assignments was not transmitting information that the Professor's were attempting to reinforce for some users who failed to either read or comply with homework questions. It is very important that you read the lesson and the questions (as well as their instructions) carefully when completing a homework assignment so that you can get the best grade possible. Professors are always available to answer your questions, there is a thread located in their classroom area, a discord channel intended to provide assistance to players who have questions and Professors can also be contacted directly by owl so if you have any questions or concerns regarding a homework assignment feel free to ask. The only dumb question is the one left unasked.

Teachers are not required to send back homework assignments that have bad grades but some might offer you a second opportunity to improve your homework assignment and get a better grade. Grades are not everything to everyone so you are not required to improve your homework and you can send it back to the Professor 'as is' and they will give you the grade you would have originally earned OR you can make an effort to improve your homework assignment and efforts to get a higher grade.

What are we doing regarding the lack of an ability to comment on returned assignments:
  1. We are notifying you the playerbase in this thread to encourage you to seek more information if you have questions or feel stumped on a returned assignment because it is not a glitch that has caused them to return.
  2. We have notified the site owner Zach both by owl and [In this Thread].
  3. We have notified the Professor Team via Discord as well as created a private thread in their staff discussion area to make sure that they are aware of this.

We have a new Team Page that updates whenever someone new is added to our Prefect and Professor Teams. This will happen automatically and is tied to the usergroup so this will probably be your most up to date resource regarding who is on a staff team.

ANNOUNCEMENT
CHARACTER STAT UPDATES

This is a quick announcement to bring to all students' attention that the method for Character Stats will be changing. The new method will utilize 4 stats, and the First and Second Year stat cap will be raised to 15.

What are the 4 stats?
The stats will now be: Strength, Agility, Control and Stamina
What do they do?
The stats function in the following way:

- Strength = physical power, and will be used for physical actions such as beater for Quidditch
- Agility = speed and capacity for dodging, and will be used for actions like Keeper for Quidditch and Evasion in duels
- Control = accuracy and capacity for fine actions, and will be used for scoring by Chasers in Quidditch and casting spells in duels
- Stamina = physical durability, and will function as it has previously (+100 HP per point)

Note: In Quidditch some positions/actions may require use of the other 3 stats. Also, students dedicated to playing Quidditch can hold off changing until the new system is released, in order to see what stats do what.
What about Arc Power?
The stat for Arc Power has been removed, and all spell damage will now be Year appropriate. This was decided due to causing a lot of additional calculation work for systems. So, presently, the damage per year amounts are:

- First Year: 100 dmg
- Second Year: 200 dmg
- Third Year: 300 dmg
- Fourth Year: 450 dmg
- Fifth year: 600 dmg
- Sixth Year: 700 dmg
- Seventh Year: 800 dmg
- Graduate Level: 950 dmg
Can I change my stats then?
Yes! All players will have a one time stat change, where you can post the desired switches to stats for your trunks, and they will be updated accordingly.

All first years will have 30 points to spend between 4 stats.

All second years will have 35 points to spend between 4 stats.

The thread to make this one time stat change is located here.
If you have any questions, please owl me or use discord Hogwarts-Help channel.

Thank you!

Sitewide Announcements and General Updates
Professor Valtome Fainauriel has been removed from the Head of House team for the reason of inactivity. There was no incident, deviant act, or problematic decision that precipitated this. As many of us are well aware, Valtome has had real life matters that have taken him away from our community and unfortunately we will need to replace him for the sake of community health. He will be missed as a peer and as a friend by many of us. His account will remain active as an adult account because he has left the team in good-standing, he will just not be a Professor or Head of House if he uses his adult account. He is also not barred from re-applying for a staff position in the future and we hope that he does.

This also means that the Head of Hosue Team will need to open up applications for HOH Gryffindor. This position is not open to the public, only to Prefects and Professors because the Head of House is responsible for not only managing staff and player groups but also the experience of 1/4 of the playerbase so their demonstration of consistency and good work ethic as a staff member is important and therefore a prerequisite for this position.

Please make sure that you thank Valtome for his time, his effort.

Professor Alpheus Wordsworth III has left the Head of House Team of his own recognizance. There was no incident, deviant act, problematic decision or activity issue perpetuated by him that caused us to remove him. This was a decision that he made on his own as he felt it was the best thing for him. Of course, it is not the best thing for the community, the community will miss him and they lost an excellent staff member. I will miss him.

This also means that the Head of House team will need to open up applications for HOH Hufflepuff. This position is not open to the public, only to Prefects and Professors because the Head of House is responsible for not only managing staff and player groups but also the experience of 1/4 of the playerbase so their demonstration of consistency and good work ethic as a staff member is important and therefore a prerequisite for this position.

Alpheus has removed himself from the Discord channel but his account is considered active despite the fact that he no longer plans on using it as an adult wizard character. So feel free to owl him if you feel compelled to thank him for his hard work.
