Updates on Present Projects

1.) The Pet System was under public review last month, tested by house Slytherin the month of April, the Pet System is now available to the entire community as of the 1st of May.
2.) The Quidditch System is up for public review. The testing houses will be Ravenclaw and Slytherin. This will be in the testing phase for about 2-3 months as the players learn how to play this game and moderators learn how to moderate this. There will likely be another test game before there is a full release.
3.) The Dueling System is approaching the public test phase. A core system has been developed and there will likely be some refinement before this is released.
4.) Races and Special Abilities have been a point of discussion for the past few months. This is approaching the public test phase as well. This will effect the Dueling and Quidditch System as there is some statistical significance. This will be the means by which players will be able to be a Veela, a Lycanthrope, part-giant, etc.

Updates on Present Projects

1.) The Pet System has been live to the whole house since the first of May. There has been no identified issue. Thank you everyone for being so understanding and helpful during the development and release of this project.
2.) The Quidditch System is in its first public beta. It will be in a second public beta before full public release in a few months. For those interested, feel free to look at our Quidditch Game between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Expect in the coming months an opportunity to apply for a moderator position to moderate Quidditch Games for those interested in getting some GM/DM experience this is a great place to start and learn how to apply moderation and narrative to an event or adventure.
3.) The Dueling System is nearing the public test phase but will not likely be released until after Races and Abilities have settled in as well as some stat system changes on the horizon.
4.) Races and Special Abilities have entered the testing alpha stage. We are inviting the top three point earners from this past month to participate in looking at and trying out the Race and Special Ability system that is slated for a public beta next.

Updates on Present Projects

1.) The Quidditch System is still in its first public beta. There will be a second public beta after this game completes, this will give players an opportunity to test the system with the inclusion of our new abilities and races. Also this will give the staff a chance to make updates to the system as per the recommendations of the players that participated in the first beta. Training for Quidditch Moderators will happen soon thereafter and our new flight professor will be considered the lead on the Quidditch System once he/she becomes acclimated to the system and I will serve as their eternal resource.
2.) The Dueling System is in the midst of refinement. Members of the Dueling System development team may be reaching out to high-scoring students (good grades, voting and high activity makes you a part of the development process) in the near future as well.
3.) We have released a 6 Point Stat System. Some of the older users may remember this system because this was the original statistical system we used. There was a test phase where the staff attempted to use a simpler 4-stat system but unfortunately it was not able to satisfy our diverse needs. The Quidditch in public beta as well as the Dueling in private alpha both use the 6 stat system. You can learn more in the encyclopedia area. An announcement regarding this transition will follow.
4.) Races and Special Abilities are being released in a few hours. They will first go to the house with the top points earned for the month of May and then be opened to the rest of the community next month.
5.) Graduation. The end of the year is coming soon. As such, please make sure you have created an encyclopedia page for yourself if you have not already. You will need an encyclopedia page for me to graduate you to the next year. Please have your encyclopedia page posted before July 1. It will take up to a week to get everyone transitioned to the next year, it takes many hours so please do not panic if your friends are moved up a year without you because I probably have not gotten to your page yet.

Updates on Present Projects

1.) The Quidditch System is still in its first public beta. There have been some delays in moderation due to the number of projects we have in progress concurrently. There will be a second public beta, anticipated for mid to late July, this will give players an opportunity to test the system with the inclusion of our new abilities and races. Also this will give the staff a chance to make updates to the system as per the recommendations of the players that participated in the first beta. Training for Quidditch Moderators will happen with the second beta.
2.) The Dueling System will be in its next step of the public beta, the top scoring house will participate in this with their new-found abilities.
3.) We are working on developing a Potions System which will allow students to brew potions. This is still in its early steps and will require the input of the Herbology Professor, Care of Magical Creatures Professor and newly appointed Potions Professor.
4.) Races and Special Abilities will be released site-wide on July 1st
5.) Graduation. The end of the year is coming soon. As such, please make sure you have created an encyclopedia page for yourself if you have not already. You will need an encyclopedia page for me to graduate you to the next year. Please have your encyclopedia page posted before July 1. It will take up to a week to get everyone transitioned to the next year, it takes many hours so please do not panic if your friends are moved up a year without you because I probably have not gotten to your page yet.
6.) Broom Statting. We will be working on determining stats for brooms in association with Quidditch. This means that the broom you buy will have relevance and potentially provide you with an advantage. Keep this in mind when you look at brooms. More details regarding this will be revealed in coming months.
7.) Patch Release: There will be a patch regarding races and special abilities in a few weeks to update numbers, add some clarification. Patch notes will be found in a fresh post in this thread.

Updates on Present Projects

1.) The Quidditch System has left beta and is a public project. The Quidditch Captains have been chosen and added to a team. The beta testers were removed from the Quidditch group. Due to delays, there was not a second beta test as it would have delayed release by multiple months and we wanted to start the year out being able to have a full year of Quidditch matches. Please stay tuned for applications for Quidditch as they will be opening shortly.
  • Statted brooms have been released.
  • Information regarding how stats effect certain roles has been posted.
  • Information on how certain abilities and spells effect Quidditch games is anticipated to be posted shortly.
2.) Dueling continues beta testing, there will be some patching to refine and balance some spells.
3.) We are working on a Potions System and attempting to develop an acquisition/gathering system. Beta testing for this is anticipated to be in the near future.
4.) Minor patch updates regarding Races and Special Abilities will be posted shortly.
5.) Start of the School Year: it is now September, we are going to be starting some cool story lines and giving players a few opportunities to interface with each other in new, dynamic ways.

Patch Notes

Dhampir
  • Added damage calculation for the bite attack.
  • Added the damage equation for the claw attack. Also increased the residual damage from 1 damage per round for the duration of the fight to 5% of the total damage done for the next 4 rounds.
  • Clarified Magical Menace, this would effect a user's ability to cast spells. A magical action is too vague. This does not effect Quidditch actions for instance.
  • Clarified Unsettling Aura, this when in use prevents users from entering stealth but can be turned off and on at the cost of an action.
  • Repaired the language used with Blood Thralls. Also added a note to contact the Headmaster with ability adjustments for bloodthralls.
  • Updated flavor text to reflect the lore submitted by the Lore Team.
Werewolves
  • Their bite attack damage has been altered to be in line with the damages done with the spell system, the secondary effect was also changed from a damage over time effect to damage that cannot be healed for the duration of the moderated experience. Please note, this is the only attack in the system that at this time does this. Also clarified that this would pass on the curse of lycanotropy.
  • Damages done by rend changed to conform closer to the spell system, these damages are slightly higher than other melee attacks that can effect more than one target.
  • Changed the human year 1 skill, it is the same as the dhampir year 2 skill because it better defined what benefit a user got.
  • In year 3, added a minor buff to werewolf form.
  • As the year 5 ability was entirely the werewolf, gave the user a stealth-based skill.
Metamorphmagus
  • The year 1 skill is entirely a roleplay benefit with no statistical effect. As an added bonus, they have lower DCs on transfiguration spells.
Parselmouth
  • Added a noted regarding a werewolf's sense of smell regarding the year 3 skill.
  • Added a clarification that Magical Multilingualist cannot be used to use Parseltongue, only understand the words that are used.
Goblin
  • Added a detail that their language can be learned through Magical Multilingualist.
  • Added a clarification on their ability to use wandless magic, that they need to be able to move and use the verbal component.
Veela
  • Clarified the first year skill (added notes).
Abilities
  • Edited Catch to consider the secondary effects of brooms with the ability to catch an additional target.
  • Clarified the effect of Healing Sage.
  • Mentioned the fact that there will be a future patch that effects Interception.
  • Added a clarification to Keeper's Catch that this happens during the same round and is a free action if the 10% chance to block from this ability goes off. It does not go off if the block happened as normal with the contested accuracy roll.
  • Clarified Poison Resistance, this does not give a user knowledge of potions that they did not previously know the effects of.
  • Clarified Rebound, that if the 10% chance goes off it is treated like an automatic, free action during the same round.
  • Added a note on Spell Spread that on a critical failure, the spell would hit you automatically (no evasion roll) and miss your opponents.
  • Added to the Muggle Condition actions to the effect.
  • Added a new ability: Comprehend Languages.
  • Added a new ability: Wand Maker.
