Official Staff Positions
PREFECTS
A prefect is one of the core roles for our site. These students moderate the boards to maintain the chaos. Each house has 4 Prefects. Depending on House there are different areas each pair are responsible for moderating. They are also the first staff face when an issue occurs and the link between students/staff. A prefect answers directly to their Head of House for any issues regarding moderation duties.

HEAD GIRL/BOY
This role is not in active use. These two roles are permanent positions among the staff here at Hogwarts. Head Boy and Head Girl manage, moderate, and teach prefects. As such, someone who holds this role should have experience as a prefect in order to best perform their duties. These roles are also prefects with assigned areas to moderate, bit have additional duties as mentioned earlier. This is both an IC and an OOC role so you will be seen as a special student ICly as well. Prefects answer to this role before going to the Head of House for any issues. The Head Girl or Head Boy decide if a situation needs to be escalated beyond themselves to a higher staff member. Their experience means they may have a better solution to assist their prefects when they have an issue. Head Boy and Head Girl answer to the Head of House team. Escalations should first go to a Head of House for them to determine next steps. Heads of Houses will also select Head Girl and Head Boy based on experience, maturity, and activity on the site.

PROFESSORS
Professors at Hogwarts are mainly responsible for teaching classes. This means on the site they write lessons, grade the homework, and answers questions from students about their subject. A Professor is expected to keep ungraded homework no older than 7 days. Beyond that and another Professor will be asked to step in, to grade. This may fall under activity standards for the site as well if an absence was not announced ahead of time. Beyond classes, Professors also have some moderation powers. Although they have no official areas to moderate, it is acceptable for them to control their classroom’s board. They may also be asked to step in by a Head of House if a situation was escalated by a Head Boy/Girl. Professors are often seen leading events as well. Professors can propose events or may be asked to lead a portion of a larger event. Proposing events should go to the Heads of Houses, Deputy Headmaster, Headmaster, or all of the above. This role requires a new character to become an adult and is separate from their student account. A Professor is expected to keep their identity confidential whenever possible but will not be punished if discovered by the community. This is also a permanent role.

HEAD OF HOUSE
This is one of the higher administrative roles at Hogwarts. These are Professors responsible for teaching classes, grading, and everything a Professor would do, but with more responsibility. An HoH manages their assigned House and its commons. This means selecting Prefects for their house, creating and updating a welcome letter that gets sent via owl and making sure Newspaper Writers/Quidditch Players are properly assigned. These Professors are also in charge of validating new accounts for people wishing to join the site. Head Girl/Boy reports to these professors in case an issue comes up they are unable to handle. HoH will either handle it themselves or assign someone best for the job. This role also works together with their HoH peers to determine main storylines for the site, new content/features, and rules for the site. The HoH team also guides Professors. Professors answer and report to the HoH team. Which one you report to is not important but for fairness, you should attempt to contact the one for your student account’s house first. Other duties may apply to this role as seen fit by the Headmaster/Deputy Headmaster as they should be the trusted upper hierarchy of the site. This is a permanent role and requires experience in the Professor Role.
