An Attempt to Understand Better PV Xailah A. F

So. This was where her problems had brought her today. To a child that played with cards. Xailah had admittedly always wanted her tarot cards read. She had a few readings done in divination before, but they weren't particularly enlightening- probably because they were required to pass the class. She was never much of a fan of requirements. She liked to do things on her own accord. The young Gryffindor was actually looking forward to this reading. She had issues of her own. Lots of questions without answers. She had managed to get herself stuck between a rock, and a hard place. She needed a second opinion- a few answers- a couple of possible resolutions. Alina would become the second opinion, once Xailah put her own name on the signup sheet.

Xailah leaned against a far wall, opposite of the classrooms entrance. She cradled her chin in one gloved hand, as her slender fingers gently drummed the side of her pale cheek. A thick, black sleeve of her robe, covered the lower half of her face. She would watch the occasional passerby, wondering what sort of problems they had. Did they get tarot readings to resolve said problems? Or did they ask their friends about it, like a normal person? Hm. She eventually figured that if they did get readings, it was most likely for fun, and not to solve... absurd dilemmas. Schrödinger stirred at Xailahs feet, having caught sight of a small figure peeping from around a doorframe. The figure would call to the metamorph, and the metamorph would nod in turn. "Yes. That would be me. Pleasure to make your acquaintance."

The prefect would be welcomed with a sheet of parchment, and a 'please sign here'. Ah, yes. A contract. Such a reassuring thing to hand someone, when meeting them for the first time. Xailah took the paper, glancing at it as she stepped into the room. The cat Schrödinger trailed close behind. Tarot Reading is subject to interpretation and should not be taken as Absolute...- yeah she wasn't going to read the rest. Her golden hues skipped to the bottom of the page, where she would find the telltale X. Sign your soul away here. With a shrug, she would scribble her signature in neat cursive, before returning the parchment to the young badger.

The girl did a wonderful job at turning the classroom into her own space. Xailah gave the room a once-over; taking in the warmth that the room emitted. The hufflepuff would offer a few snacks to the lion- to which the Gryffindor would raise her hand in refusal. "Ah. No thank you. I'm afraid I don't have very long- I would like to ssstart right away." She followed after Alina, and took a seat with her on the floor. Xailah called to the large, grey feline that had tagged along. She gently tapped the palm of her hand on the ground to get his attention; and motioned to a spot on the floor where he could sit. "This is Schrödinger, by the way. He is very friendly. You can pet him if you'd like."

Alina watched the cat. That was something she had been hoping to purchase, a pet of her very own. She was a little torn though on whether to get an owl or get a cat - those were her only two options as none of the rest appealed to her.

"Hi there, handsome," she said to Schrödinger as he glanced her way but sat down closer to his owner which Alina didn't mind. Part of the Tarot reading was creating comfort for all. "Okay, let's get started since the Celtic Cross is one of the readings that has more cards," and Xailiah had places to go.

Making sure that all the cards were laid out in front of her, she instructed the girl to take one card at a time until she had taken ten total. She then laid out the first two on top of one another to create a small cross, laid four at each side to create a larger cross, and then laid four down to create a vertical line at the side.



She then began with the first card she laid down, the one on the bottom of the small cross. "Success abounds for you so make sure you're making it possible today. Things in general are likely to be going well for you. This doesn't mean that you should lose focus on what is truly important in life."

The next card rested right on top of that one. "Start at the beginning and think on what is important to you and what motivates and drives you. The reversed Two of Wands reminds you to put your emotion in perspective. Sometimes what you feel is not the total reality of a situation."

And now to that outer cross. "You are about to move forward to the next phase of your life so you must get rid of the bad stuff that are impeding your progress. You may even more so be in the frame of mind that you need some alone time and don't be afraid to take it."

Alina then pointed to the Queen of Swords card. "Always be mindful of how you carry yourself because people look up to you for inspiration. This card can indicate that your instincts are serving you well. You already know what it is you want and need, now go after it."

The card closest to Xailah was The Lovers. "Open your eyes and don't be swayed. Don't lose sight of important things even if you feel you're floating on air every single day. Maybe your heart is telling you one thing and your mind another. Follow your heart."

The last card on that larger cross was the Ace of Coins. "This means the end of your worries. The time may be approaching that will call you to go out into the world in a different and bigger way. Don't avoid it, just do it. You'll do fine."

Now she concentrated on the four cards to the side of the cross and began with the one that was closest to her. "Change is inevitable. If you are willing to accept changes, stagnation will not replace growth. Judgement reversed tells you to look carefully at how you are making decisions and judgements. Control what you can control and ignore the rest."

She then got to the reversed Eight of Swords. "You need to free yourself from some of the limiting factors of your past. Although it is time to move forward, you cannot plan or be utterly prepared for everything in life that may happen and accepting that is apart of adulthood."

"The Four of Coins," she said of the second to last one, "denotes a need for security and recognition in your life. Don't let your current interests end up limiting you. You should open you up to new opportunities and experiences."

Down to the last one, The Hanged Man. It looked worse than it was. "When the Hanged Man shows in reverse, it's possible that the time has come for you to let go of an outdated attitude, situation, or friendship. Think things through but be aware that a sensible sacrifice made now of something that no longer works for you will open up your life to something even more positive than what you let go of. This card encourages you to accept change."

And that was it. She didn't know if it was helpful or not but hoped so. Alina took a quick sip of a drink she had. "I hope that helps some."

This kid had put more effort into a tarot reading, than Xailah ever did, in the two years she had been in divination. The badger cub surpassed the lionesses expectations, to say the least. Not that her expectations were very high to begin with. Nevertheless, it was still nice to see someone put a little care into something. Hm. Card readings must have been a hobby that held some sentimentality for the Hufflepuff. Interesting. Perhaps it was a activity that was usually practiced with someone close to her? Or maybe that someone, had taught her the art? Xailah wondered this, as she watched the second year coo to the feline that sat between the girls. She would further ponder the badgers background, as said badger, instructed her to take ten cards. It was habit, to wonder what kind of places her peers came from- nothing more.

Ten? Alright. Ten was a rather specific number. Xailah had never really considered it until now, but there were a lot of specifics, when it came to anything divination related. She supposed it made some sense. Divination was a science of sorts- and science in general was a very specific subject. It had to be- there was absolutely no room for mistakes in science. The Gryffindor would nod slowly, and take ten cards. It took everything, for her to resist the sudden urge to take an eleventh card. She mentally gave herself a sharp smack on the hand. No. Not here. She would listen to the little voice that forbid her from gabbing another- which was surprising. Normally she ignored it, whenever it tried to curb her temptation.

Once the cards had been selected. The catty Gryffindor would quietly watch, as the girl across from her arranged the chosen cards, on the floor. The prefect tilted her head in a curious manner, noting that the cards had been laid in a cross-like formation. She had never really understood why there were so many spreads for Tarot. When the Hufflepuff got around to explaining what the cards displayed, the young lion cub couldn't help but feel a little shocked. The cards new something. Perhaps it was coincidence- it was most likely coincidence. Or maybe she was just tripping herself up- in an attempt to find connections in the cards. That was probably it. She was just spooking herself.

Or was she? Maybe it wasn't the cards, mayhaps it was the girl that knew something. Gold eyes narrowed into thin crescent moons. They would flicker over the childs small frame, searching for a journal- or something that would suggest that the girl had gathered information prior to the meeting. But the eyes found nothing but a small badger, narrating what the cards could not. Xailahs expression would soften, as the pale-eyed child began to near the end of the reading. The last few cards would be revealed. The Gryffindor inhaled sharply at the sight of a card, that depicted a man handing upside-down. She would release a sigh however, once she realized that the card wasn't all that bad. This time.

"Wow." She murmured. If there was one consistent pattern that she saw in the cards, it was the pattern of change, and acceptance. She needed to succumb to both. For her own benefit, and for the benefit of those she kept close. A corner of her mouth crooked, as she glossed over the cards one more time. "This does help. A lot actually." She needed the push. She needed someone to tell her that she had to change. And she was willing to try and do so. "Here-" The metamorph stood up, as she concluded that it was time for her to take her leave. She would reach into a little black bag, that hung at her side, and produce a few shiny objects. "To compensate for your time. You're good at what you do. Tarot readings are not sssomething that anyone can just do- not well anyways." She would set the items on a nearby surface, for the Hufflepuff to take them later. "I was never here. Lets go, Schrödinger." And with that said, she would turn on her heel, and make her way towards the door.
