Opeila layed on her bed, staring at the ceiling. The message of her mother's dead had come unexpected, but the pain was only short.OOC: Warning, it's gonna be sad <.<
The brunette had expected it to happen. Her mother had been dead for a year, she had not spoken a word to her for ages.
The worst pain she had felt a year ago. Not now. She could live with it. Opeila knew that her mother had not been happy for years. Maybe it was better for her. Maybe she needed it to end.
A knock on her door caused the brunette to look up. "Lady Margary?" Surprised Opeila looked at her grandmother. The old woman had not sayed a lot since the message had arrived.
The grief made her look older. More vulnerable. Slowly she entered Opeila's room.
The little girl moved over in her bed and made space for ger grandmother. She had never done that before. Lady Margary had always maintained a wise but distant aura, not cuddled and joked around with Opeila, like she had seen it with her primary school classmates.
Opeila loved her anyway, unconditionally.
And right now, both of them needed someone to hold on to.
"Opeila… tell me about your friends in Hogwarts." Opeila was surprised again. "O-Okay uhm… Well, there is Willow, you know her. She gives friendship bracelets to everyone." Opeila pointed at the end of her bed, where she had tied hers. "She is really nice to everyone. Maybe a little too much sometimes, I first found her weird." Opeila felt her grandmothers chest move, she chuckeled. "Oh yeah, she is nice…" Opeila nodded. "She is. And then there is Flash. He is the most caring person I know. He is absolutely great." Opeila had more to say about Flash, as well as about Willow. But her grandmother didn't know of the deep phases, of the danger, and Opeila wanted to keep it that way.
"Then there is Ruka, he is nice as well. He is an orphan. But he is good friends with Jack Burnett, who is mean. I don't like him. He hurts people wherever he goes." She felt her grandmother's hand stroke her hair.
"And uhm… Gris is a prefect. A second year. She is really cool and nice. She shared cauldron cakes with me.
Uhm… Yeah, and Percival… He is… cute. He is really nice. Before the ball he came to me in the great hall and asked me to dance. Like to practice dancing. Alone. In the ball room. It was kind of weird and… oh my god, Lady Margary, I have said so weird things… Lady Margary?"
The hand in her hair had stopped moving. Smiling, Opeila turned around and poked her sleeping grandmother. "Don't sleep, Lady Margary. You should get into your own bed, if you are tired." She gently shook her shoulder. "Lady Margary… don't sleep here, you're back will hurt again…" When her grandmother still did not react, the smile on the little girl's face started to fade. "Wake up. Lady Margary, wake up!" Nothing.
Chills went through Opeila, when she held a hand over her grandmother's mouth. No breath. "No, no, no, hey! Lady Margary, wake up! Wake up, please, please wake up!" The little girl started to tremble, she kept shouting at her grandmother, begging her to open her eyes, tears streamed down her cheeks. "Listen to me, Lady Margary, please wake up! Stay here! DAAAAAD!" In endless despair she ended up screaming for her father, sobbing uncontrolled.
She heard him running. She heard the quick steps and she heard them stop. "She- She doesn't wake up, dad! We have to help her!" Deep down, Opeila knew what was happening. The mother had followed her daughter. But she would not accept it. "Opeila…" She felt warm hands on her shoulders, but shook them off.
"I- No, I have to wake her up! N- no, leave me- Nooo!"
The hands took hold of her shoulders and pulled her away from the motionless body on her bed. Opeila fought against her father, it was almost ridiculous, against all sense, but that was Lady Margary, her grandmother, the old and wise woman who had alway helped her, been with her. It was absolutely impossible that she was gone, why would her father pull her away?
Strong arms pulled the little girl in a hug, who finally stopped fighting. It was too much. Too much pain. It came over her like a dark wave, tearing her insides apart.
Opeila clenched her hands to fist, buried her face in her father's shoulder and screamed.
Screamed until her voice broke.
