It is my Turn

"Opeila?"OOC: Warning, it's gonna be sad <.<
Opeila looked at her grandmother, who had immediately noticed that the girl had stopped moving. Froze. "What is it?"
"Didn't you hear that?"
Her father stopped eating his breakfast as well and listened instead. "What did you hear, Peila? There is nothing there."
The twelve year old shook her head and pushed her chair back. "No, no, I've heard something. I'm sure of it."
Opeila only just finished that sentence, when all three of them heard a knock on the door.
The atmosphere tensed immediately. Margary and Nicholas changed quick looks, before Nicholas got up and walked to the front door. Margary put one finger against her lips, a sign for her granddaughter to be quiet.
"Impossible!", Opeila heard her father say after a few moments. His tone scared her. It almost sounded panicking.
Margary got up now, and went to the main door as well. Opeila followed, but stayed back in the doorway between kitchen and entrance. "Good morning sir. Margary Crane is my name. Is there a problem?" The old woman looked at Nicholas, who was white as a wall, almost looked like he wanted to cry.
A young man stood in front of the door, a suitcase in his hands and seemingly uncomfortable. "But- we have sent you a letter days ago, Mrs Crane. R-Robert Price." Lady Margary looked confused. That did not happen a lot, Lady Margary was usually the master of every situation. "I don't know of a letter, Mr Price. And my son in law doesn't seem to know about it either. Opeila, why don't you take your father back in the kitchen?"
Opeila was thankful for her grandmother's request. Her father's expression worried her deeply, it looked like he had lost all control over it. Gently, the little girl took his arm. "Come, Dad…" Nicholas finally seemed to wake up again and followed his daughter into the kitchen.
Opeila gently pushed him back on his chair and sat down again as well. She was scared to ask her father what had happened. He looked so hopeless suddenly.
It seemed like ages until Lady Maragry came back to the kitchen and for her it was almost worse. She had full control, she didn't fall into the same shock as Nicholas, but in her eyes stood pain. "This was a man from the St. Mungos Hospital. He brought back your mother's things." Opeila froze. She didn't know if she wanted to hear what came next.
"They said they had sent us a letter, but it seemed like they gave the owl the wrong address. It came back, the letter was delivered, but not to us. Your mother… drifted off a few days ago. Without any pain, peacefully." She reached out to take Opeila's hands.
Surprisingly it didn't hurt as much as she thought it would. Opeila remembered how she stood at the lake, scared for her mother's life. She couldn't imagine not to be able to say goodbye.
Now she realized, that she had already done it when she first got the info of her mother's fate. She had already said good bye then. She had been prepared for it all along.
Instead she felt… relieved somehow. Opeila knew that her mother had been unhappy for years. She just hoped that she had found her peace now.
Some people might have blamed her for being a bad mother. Fioria had been a bad mother. But it was okay. Opeila was okay.
So she took Lady Margary's hand to give her something to hold on to. With the other, she took her father's hand, which had gone completely cold.
It was Opeila's turn to be there for her family.
