Bane Manor Closed

Some days, you could hear the distant roar if creatures throughout the house.
Other days, Piano music playing in a far off room.
Though most days, an eerie silence was all that accompanied you thought the long halls.

It was a well kept house.
High ceilings, good lighting from giant windows, fine paintings over the walls, depicting ancestors or different magical creatures.
A good portion of those ancestors were elven, or half elven, surprisingly.

Or at least the child who lived in the house found it odd. Though as he grew older, he could see it. It was the eyes and the ears, mostly. That’s what little he could see. His eyes matched theirs near exactly. And he had the slightest little rounded point on each of his ears.
Though he was still human. Through and through, his mother said. Interesting how that happened.
His father looked more elvish, though he was also considered human. Their family line had been for awhile now. Generations at least.

There were many rooms to the house. Too many, some would say. Though each had a purpose.
A ginormous library, that took up a good floor.
A writing room, attached to each family members personal chambers, which were all different.
Three guest rooms, again, each with their own personal bath, writing room, closet, exc.
Kitchens, two dining rooms, one formal, one informal.
A ballroom, again, taking up a good half floor.
A dance studio.
A music room, one for singing, and one for instruments.
The list went on and on.

And the outside was as exquisite as the inside. Dark green paints, with bronze accents for the house itself. Sprawling gardens and a decent sized stable, made to house not the animals, but instead the equipment needed to handle them.

Though it all seemed void. Soulless. Empty. Dead. No matter how you put it. It may look pretty but it had no life to it whatsoever. It was too clean.
No room for expression.
No room for use.
All for show.
Which is why Rowan had always been so desperate to leave, even when his mother was around.
Most days he spent outside, wandering beyond the confines of the stone walls into the forest that bordered the property.
There were no magical creatures in there, his father made sure of that.
Though there were non magical creatures that were just as whimsical at times.
He would stay outside for hours, before his father called him back, making sure he ate and slept in his own bed.
Once Rowan had taken an... extended nap with a fluffle of bunnies, and his father had to come looking for him. It was not a fun day.
But nonetheless, he continued to go out, though made sure he did not fall asleep.

He always went out to fight the loneliness the house brought.
