But I'm not mad.

I want breakfast.
The morning was refreshing. The sun had already greeted the asphalt of the streets and no clouds seemed to be interested in getting into a fight with the sunlight.

"To build a wall between us... We know they won't win..." she was singing at the top of her lungs with her huge headphones on. Neil's voice kept flowing into her ears, soothing her morning even further.

The next track came on.

"I hope there might be one of us... Who calls the tune..."

She adored those moments. She was piercing through the city via really narrow empty streets. She didn't care about people hearing her singing, not because she actually didn't care, but because of the Muffliato Charm.

She crossed another street, a normal street with people and cars, and entered the coffeehouse, pulling her headphones down.

"One lungo, please, no milk," she ordered, putting herself in the distant corner of the smaller section of the coffeehouse and the bag on the neighbouring chair.

The tune made her remembering a story. A love story about a couple, which suffered a car accident. And the guy found a way to revisit the old memories of theirs, trying to prevent the tragedy. But no matter how hard he tried to change the sequences of events, the accident kept happening under different circumstances. The end of that story was devastating and heartbreaking.

She closed her eyes.

She was floating there in the darkness. Dark waters cherished her skin, but then they suddenly started to harden into small rounded objects covering her whole body. She felt like she was suffocating. She took one of the deepest breaths in her life and smelled...

...her lungo. The cup clinked as it was put on the table in front of her. That brought Meenauh back to reality along with the coffeehouse's Wednesday sounds. It brought her back from recalling the latest dream of hers. Maybe if she had put a bit more effort in the Divination class back at Hogwarts, she could have unriddled the meaning of it.

She waited for her friend. Her only best ever friend.

We forgive, and we forget. Not because we want to, but because we have to. If we want any chance of surviving in this world we must forgive, and we must forget. You have forgiven, but you have not forgotten.

"Can we go any faster? I mean- Jesus Christ, I'm five minutes late already!" She groaned and brought the palm of her hand down on the back of the front seat. "I ssshould have just drove there on my own, because you're over here driving like you have all fucking day- and, and you might have all day, but I don't! I'm meeting sssomeone very ssspecial today, and now I'm just hoping-" The figure driving her to her destination took a quick glance in the rear view mirror. There were fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. I've always hated those stupid dice. "-Keep your eyes on the road! I don't feel like dying today okay?" She was visibly bitter. Yesterday was her birthday. She was one year older. One year closer to being old and grey. One year closer to death. And she was tired from a night of partying hard.

"Can you turn the radio up a bit, please?" She always felt irritable, and she wasn't sure why. She had friends, she had a ridiculous amount of money- yet neither made her truly happy. Really, the only time she was happy now, was when she was with her close friends, or in solitude. Sometimes she was happy when she spoke to her sister, but as of now neither one of them were on speaking terms. "This is a nice sssong, I like this sssong." Schrödinger stirred in the back seat next to her. He was much older, much fatter.

"When the world comes in, they come, they come-" She was unfamiliar with the song, yet she knew the words. She was still fairly new to the wonderful world of 80's music. "-Come on my man, sssing with me." No response. "Really? Now you're not going to talk to me?" Silence. "Fine then. You're no fun at all." She said in a mocking tone, that was directed towards the driver. "Whatever we're here anyway- HERE! NO, NOT THERE!" The driver missed her stop. This was very frustrating. "Sssweet baby Jesus. Just stop the car, I'll walk the rest of the way- SSSTOP THE FUCKING CAR."

The car came to a screeching halt. As soon as the door opened, Schrödinger launched himself out of the car and waited patiently for his beloved human. Xailah stepped out quickly, before motioning for the driver to roll down the passenger window. "Pick me up at noon alright? I'll call you if my plans change-" She reached for her satchel, and produced a box of Cohiba Behikes. She pulled one of the thick cigars out of the box and placed it in between her delicate little teeth. "-Here you can have these. I don't sssmoke anyway, no idea why sssomeone gifted them to me as a birthday gift." She chucked the box at the driver, before turning on her heel. "Noon remember! Pick me up at noon!"

She didn't get out much, obviously; considering that she often ran across the street in a rather funny way. She would look around, and just book it across the street, regardless of any cars that might have been zooming by. She didn't really understand how streetlights worked, and found that it was rather pointless to figure it out as of now. Maybe she didn't care. Or maybe she just liked being reckless- which was an unfortunate trait that she picked up during her time at Hogwarts.

After a bit of wandering, she had declared herself very lost. Had she known that this part of London was built like a labyrinth, she would not have left the car. But there was nothing she could really do now except wander around a bit more. Schrödinger kept close to her, waddling along. His grey fleshy form jiggled with every step. "Well. I think we are lost, friend." She looked down at him tenderly, before a feeling of panic rushed over her. She, and her cat clipped through the ground...

...And landed safely on the floor of the coffeehouse, as if nothing happened. Schrödinger certainly looked unfazed; he looked up at his human, and blinked slowly. So she too pretended to be unfazed by the strange occurrence. She scanned her surroundings. She took note of the different smells that the coffeehouse had to offer. She watched people enter, and leave. And who might that be in the far corner? -Could it be your bestest friend? The oh so wonderful Meenauh? Why of course! Who else could it be?! She quietly walked over to the brown haired woman. "Boo." She laughed. Ah. See. Now you're happy. "Hey there ssstranger." She tapped the woman on the shoulder with her unlit cigar, and held her arms out. "Give me a hug. It feels like I haven't seen you in ages."

Meenauh focused on the waves in her coffee. There were waves, though everything else around stood still. Was that an earthquake?

The reality snapped again as she made another gulp of her coffee. She didn't even know how much time it was. Was she late? Was she late? And still, it didn't matter as the two of them couldn't not meet.

She heard muffled steps on the floor and recognised Schrödinger, which made her heart pound harder. And there she was. The birthday girl. Though they were not seeing each other as often as before, there were several days in the year they were doomed to meet even if it meant the whole world to drop into the abyss. They just had to.

The next second she was tapped on the shoulder and heard the precious voice. She jumped from her seat and on to Xailah, giving her a smothering hug. After releasing her just a moment before she passed out, she invited Xailah to sit and greeted her companion. No one seemed to pay attention to him and she wondered whether he was charmed with some perception filters. That would be satisfying.

"Ages, indeed, my darling. Sit down," she opened her mokeskin pouch and retrieved Xailah's present, "I have a present for you," she opened the box herself and showed what was inside, "This is a portkey. A portkey to the place where you would want to find yourself at when this world will be burning in its last fire," she pointed at the actual key lying there inside a small glass wine bottle, "Break the glass and you're free. Most probably I'll be already waiting there for you."

She raised her eyes to the ceiling when she was saying "there", recalling their conversation near the Great Lake, when Xailah saw space on pictures for the first time.

She passed the box to her friend, leaning back in the chair and taking the coffee cup in her hands:

"How were you? Anything unprecedented and fascinating?" and she smiled.

"Oof- Meenauh if you hug me any tighter, you might just crush me." Besides the fact that Xailah had ground her face into Meenauhs shoulder; the hug was pleasant. Warm, and filled with good vibrations; as a hug should be. It was going to be a sad moment when she and Meenauh both let go. Xailah would cherish this moment- even though it only lasted a few seconds. For this would be the last time that she would see her dear friend- well last time she would see her here. Good things never lasted forever.

Schrödinger had gone unnoticed by the employees, and visitors. But why? Well, in truth there was no for-sure reason as to why he seemed invisible to onlookers. Perhaps there were never really any people other than the two friends inside the coffeehouse. Perhaps Schrödinger no longer actually existed, and the two were only seeing a mental projection of what they remembered the grey cat Schrödinger as. It was possible that he could have died one summers day, due to old age; where he was then buried underneath a Weeping willow that was on the Alptraums estate. A sad thought, but it could have happened. And maybe, maybe none of that actually happened, maybe Schrödinger was simply under a cloaking spell of some sort. Schrödinger was not dead. Schrödinger was dead. Was dead. Dead.

Xailah had refused to let go of Meenauh for a brief second. She was confused ever so slightly. She had been thinking about someone, but who? It wasn't Meenauh. She couldn't quite put her finger on it. All she knew now was that she felt...sad. A part of her had died; yet she didn't understand the feeling. In fact she understood nothing of what was currently happening. "Its...its always nice to see you. You." Nice. To. See. You.

Meenauh had a gift. For who? Who was the gift for? Was it for me? For me? It was for me. But why? What is today? Is today a special day? It can't be my birthday. My birthday was yesterday. Birthday. Birth. Day. Birthdays, why are there no Deathdays? Why is that not celebrated. Death. Day. Someone died. Something died. But who? I can't remember. Was it me? Did I die? Am I dead? "...Thank you? Thank you. For the gift." What is wrong? Something is wrong. Reach for gift. Say thank you. Smile. SMILE. Try to smile. Please. Thank you. Set the gift down. Reach over to pet...to pet what? There was nothing to pet. What are you doing? Stop it. Stop what you're doing.

Be still. Calm down. Focus. Focus on what Meenauh is saying. What is she saying? "...I'll find myself? And you'll be waiting? Promise?" Promise? Something left me and now I am alone. I'm scared. I don't know what it was. Scared. I'm scared. Promise? I wan't to be free. Break the glass and you will be free. But will you be free too? "I was fine. But now I'm lost. I'm scared. I don't know what happened. Nothing unprecedented and fascinating. Nothing." Nothing made any sense. Something sucked all the color from her face. Her hair was an inky black. Inky, long, and dripping, like a tipped inkwell. A hot tarry liquid expelled itself from her throat, and onto the table. It pooled over the sides, and ate away at the wood like acid. "I want to be free Meenauh. Want to be free."

"Its always nice to see you, Meenauh. I just wish we could stay here for a bit longer. Don't you?" Alas, we can't have everything we wish for. Unless...? Xailah took the seat across from her friend, and then motioned for Schrödinger to jump into her lap. The 20 pounds of fat and fur leapt up. "Oh Meenauh, you didn't- you didn't have to get me anything. Just being able to get together with you today, is one of the best gifts I could have asked for." She reached for the bottle. "But thank you. Its gorgeous- really." Xailah had always been one of those people that enjoyed little knick knacks, such as keys. Receiving one always exited her. She never knew what doors or objects it could open, what treasures each could have inside. But this key apparently didn't open doors- at least not physical doors. "Wow...Meenauh, this is wonderful."

"Unlike my relatives, you know what the perfect gift is." She waved the cigar that was in her hand around. "Look at this, whats wrong with this picture? I don't smoke!" She added with a hoarse laugh, and rolled her eyes. She pointed the cigar to a nearby trash bin. "Think I can make it? Watch. She ssshoots and-" The cigar launched itself from her hands, and floated into the bin. "-And she ssscores! The crowd goes wild!" She laughed, looking at her friend. "I ssshould have played Quidditch in ssschool, huh?" She coughed. "Anyways...I was well, thank you for asking. Could be better though- have some stuff at home going on, you know?"

What had been going on was nothing really serious, but it was irritating for sure. "My sssister changed her last name. Said Alptraum was unfitting for her. Its silly, I know, but do you know what that means? I'm left to carry on the family name. What a joke." She shook her head in disbelief. "Pureblood families, man, I'm telling you- they can be crazy sometimes. Well, it looks like this family name is dying with me anyways, so I shouldn't care anymore." She let out a sigh of frustration, a thin cloud of black smoke left her nostrils. "Sometimes I wish I wasn't here anymore, you know? Anyways...what have you been up to lately? Been on any grand adventures without me?" She added, eyeing the bottle that contained the portkey.

You have made a choice. A hard decision. Do you take something that she loves away from her? Or do you let her hold on to him for a bit longer? You have someone elses fate in your hands. That is a fun game isn't it? You must feel like a god now.

We are always told that there are two paths that can be taken in life. That is not true. There are four. You can go left, or right, and you can turn around and go backwards. We are often told that we shouldn't step off the path, for it could upset something in the future. Step off the path. No one can stop you. So what if you step on a butterfly? Its not like a little insect can change anything...or can it? Even if you do, and it does, change is supposed to be good. Right?

Bad Dream sequence initiated.
Trains. I always liked trains. I always hated trains. Sometimes they can bring you to someone. And sometime they can take someone away from you. And leave you standing on the platform, looking at it becoming smaller and smaller. And leave you running after it until you fall off the platform or jump on to the train. Or you're actually in it? All this time you've been in it. I always lited/haked trains.

You have to make the right choice. As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible.

We are always told that there are two paths that can be taken in life. That is not true. There are three. You can go left, or right, or... you can cross the path and run away. We cannot go back. That's why it's hard to choose. The child could not make a choice because he did not know what would happen, but now that he knows what will happen, he can not make a choice. Run away from the choice, because the choice is impossible.

Silver Forest protocol terminated.

Why am I me and not somebody else?

Meenauh let her go. I mean, I let the hug go. She liked that Xailah liked the gift. I knew she'd love it instantly. Xailah made her smile. She changed so much during these years. But so did Xailah.

Meenauh was silently smiling at Xailah as she was speaking. Family issues, family name issues — that would not mean anything once she would set off where she always wanted to head to.

"My only grand adventure was my whole life before the moment I gave that key to you. It's like a key to the future. To the future with no names and name issues. It's pure and unresearched, undiscovered, unrevealed," my eyes were glowing. The cat jumped onto her knees and I rubbed the fur with her fingers.

"Oh, and I also got a cat. A pet for myself, finally, after all these years. I want you to meet Schrödinger."

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCESS -- But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake -- I'm not even angry, I'm being so sincere right now...even though you broke my heart and killed me.💔
So thats it huh? This is what happens? Turning the tables. Clever. Very clever. So now I must make a choice I suppose? Very well then.

Xailah smiled. Just. Smiled. Listening intently to every word she had to say. Looking past, she saw her ride roll up. A flaming vehicle. A red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury with no one inside. The flames licked the cars exterior. That time already? Her phone rang. She picked it up, but said nothing.

"I̴ ̷k̶n̷o̶w̵ ̷y̷o̸u̷'̸r̷e̵ ̶o̷u̷t̴ ̵t̵h̵e̴r̷e̶.̶ ̷I̴ ̶c̷a̸n̷ ̴f̸e̵e̵l̸ ̵y̷o̵u̵ ̸n̵o̶w̷.̶ ̴I̴ ̷k̶n̷o̷w̵ ̷t̷h̶a̴t̴ ̴y̸o̸u̶'̷r̴e̶ ̸a̶f̵r̶a̴i̴d̴.̸.̷.̸ ̵y̸o̷u̶'̵r̷e̴ ̶a̶f̴r̴a̴i̷d̴ ̸o̵f̷ ̶u̶s̶.̵ ̶Y̴o̵u̵'̴r̶e̶ ̷a̷f̴r̸a̴i̴d̶ ̵o̷f̶ ̵c̵h̴a̵n̵g̵e̵.̵ ̸I̶ ̸d̷o̶n̵'̴t̵ ̸k̸n̸o̸w̴ ̷t̸h̸e̷ ̴f̸u̸t̷u̸r̶e̵.̷ ̵I̴ ̷d̸i̷d̵n̵'̵t̸ ̵c̴o̴m̴e̶ ̴h̵e̵r̷e̵ ̸t̷o̴ ̷t̸e̶l̶l̸ ̴y̸o̶u̵ ̴h̷o̶w̴ ̴t̷h̵i̶s̸ ̴i̶s̵ ̵g̵o̸i̷n̵g̷ ̶t̸o̷ ̶e̸n̷d̸.̸ ̴I̷ ̶c̵a̷m̷e̵ ̸h̴e̴r̵e̸ ̸t̶o̶ ̵t̸e̶l̷l̶ ̶y̶o̶u̵ ̶h̸o̵w̶ ̷i̷t̴'̴s̸ ̵g̵o̴i̷n̴g̵ ̵t̴o̴ ̶b̷e̶g̶i̶n̶.̵ ̵I̴'̴m̸ ̵g̶o̸i̵n̴g̶ ̵t̴o̸ ̶h̶a̸n̵g̵ ̷u̶p̴ ̵t̵h̴i̴s̸ ̶p̵h̴o̶n̷e̸,̴ ̷a̸n̸d̷ ̵t̵h̵e̷n̵ ̵I̶'̸m̶ ̶g̵o̸i̵n̶g̵ ̵t̴o̷ ̷s̵h̵o̵w̷ ̴t̵h̴e̴s̸e̴ ̶p̴e̸o̸p̶l̶e̴ ̷w̴h̴a̵t̸ ̷y̵o̴u̵ ̵d̷o̶n̷'̷t̶ ̵w̷a̷n̵t̴ ̸t̸h̴e̷m̴ ̶t̴o̸ ̵s̸e̸e̸.̴ ̴I̵'̵m̸ ̸g̸o̶i̶n̶g̶ ̷t̵o̴ ̶s̶h̵o̵w̷ ̵t̵h̶e̷m̸ ̷a̸ ̷w̴o̵r̷l̶d̶ ̶w̵i̶t̴h̷o̶u̸t̵ ̸y̵o̶u̵.̷ ̷A̴ ̷w̵o̵r̶l̴d̸ ̴w̷i̶t̵h̸o̵u̵t̶ ̴r̴u̴l̵e̶s̶ ̸a̷n̸d̵ ̶c̸o̷n̶t̵r̶o̷l̸s̷,̴ ̵w̴i̵t̸h̷o̶u̸t̴ ̴b̷o̶r̶d̵e̶r̴s̴ ̶o̵r̵ ̷b̴o̷u̷n̷d̷a̵r̵i̵e̴s̸.̸ ̴A̶ ̷w̴o̷r̴l̵d̴ ̶w̵h̶e̵r̵e̷ ̶a̵n̵y̸t̶h̴i̶n̵g̵ ̴i̴s̵ ̵p̵o̴s̷s̵i̵b̸l̶e̶.̴ ̶W̸h̵e̴r̴e̴ ̵w̷e̴ ̵g̵o̸ ̷f̵r̴o̵m̵ ̷t̸h̴e̵r̷e̴ ̶i̷s̴ ̶a̷ ̶c̷h̷o̸i̴c̵e̶ ̴I̷ ̴l̴e̴a̶v̶e̴ ̶t̸o̴ ̵y̵o̸u̶.̷"

And then silence. She took a glance at the car outside of the coffeehouse, and hung up.

Tricky. This is a tricky one. But, I think I have made my choice. I heard a song once. There was a line that went: You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. You can choose from phantom fears, and kindness that can kill. I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose free will.

Hm. Yes, I think that is it. I think...I think I will choose free will.

--As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you -- Now these points of data make a beautiful line, and we're out of beta, we're releasing on time --
The car rolled away, smoke and flames trailing behind it. It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, 'cause everything is never as it seems. This is how things should be. This is how they were meant to be. We will stay right here. Right here for this moment. Not as separate things, but as one. We reached over to pet the cats soft fur. "He's just wonderful isn't he?"
--Go ahead and leave me...I think I prefer to stay inside. Maybe you'll find someone else to help you...
