Some Gals & Some Gobstones
THIS IS A TEST GOBSTONES MATCH FOR CECILY QUINN AND AMI PROCOPPIO
𝓐madea finished putting the final touches to the Gobstones board, excited for the day to begin. As the leader of the new Gobstones Club, Amadea was ready to moderate her first match. It was a beautiful day out; the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Students were milling around the grounds, talking and laughing with each other. Amadea felt like this was a good sign. Hopefully the Gobstones game would go well.
Previously, she had participated in a few Gobstones matches but had never been a moderator before. She knew the rules and she felt fairly confident that she could do this well. Plus, even if she messed something up, she was moderating between two of her best friends, Ami and Cecily, so she wouldn't have to worry about any judgment from strangers.
She cleared her throat and began to explain the rules to her friends; she was sure they probably already knew the rules but wanted to make sure. "So we're playing a Classic Gobstones game," Amadea said to her two friends. "The goal of the game is to knock your opponents Gobstones out of the ring before they knock yours out. Make sure you guys take your time and may the best player win!" She sat back, ready to watch the match happen.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
Much to her surprise, Ami found herself joining a club she knew pretty much next to nothing about... although, it was definitely the type of thing she'd do. Even if she knew nothing about something, the Hufflepuff had no problem jumping right in to learn as she went. Regarding gobstones, she had sort of played marbles before as a child, although it wasn't something she was particularly good at nor had a natural affinity for. It was simple enough, though- like circular bowling. There was no way that it was that hard, right?
When Amadea had asked her to play against Cecily to test out the gobstones sets they'd gotten, Ami was originally hesitant, and for good reason. Sure, she had a good arm and relatively good aim, but Cecily was like, crazy smart. She'd probably do that thing in the movies where she calculated the angle of the photosynthesis in order to have maximum diagnosis exploding from her gobstone as it trajectoried towards her own gobstones, which would cause some sort of chemical reaction and end up winning her the whole game. Or something like that. So clearly, Ami needed to step up her game if she wanted to win against her Ravenclaw friend.
Standing outside with her friends, Ami's cat, Leo, sat nearby, watching the proceedings lazily. Ami wasn't worried that Leo would try to mess with the gobstones, although she did worry that he'd wander off and start terrorizing some poor birds. All three girls knew how much of a menace the gray cat could be if he put his mind to it.
"You're going down, Cec," Ami boasted, although both Amadea and Cecily knew that it was all bark and no bite. Ami had a tendency to try and scare people off with her big talk before actually doing anything, although usually if it was something physical, she had the muscles to back it up. This time, however, it was all up to Lady Luck to guide her to victory. "Loser buys the winner pumpkin juice?"
Ugh, now she was thirsty. No! No thinking about pumpkin juice, she'd have to devote all 2 of her brain cells to this magical game of marbles. If she really wanted the pumpkin juice, she'd have to kill one bird with 8 stones.
Pacing around the circle of gobstones, hefting one of them in her hand, Ami tried to find one that would be easy to knock out. She needed to get a headstart on Cecily, because if the game dragged on for too long, there was no way that Cecily wouldn't win. She consciously picked one of the gobstones closer to the edge of the circle, and like she was skipping rocks, Ami flung the heavy stone into the circle, holding her breath and hoping that she'd do some serious damage.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
When Amadea had approached her about getting the long-defunct Gobstones club up and running, Cecily had promised her friend that she'd help out. And so, here she was, fulfilling her promises by showing up to the match the redhead had arranged between Cecily and their mutual friend, Ami. Amadea had confided in her that this was the Hufflepuff's first time moderating anything of this sort, so she had chosen two of her friends to be her test subjects. This way, at least, if everything went horribly wrong, they'd only mock her a little. That thought had seemed of great comfort to Amadea.
It seemed of less comfort to Cecily, who cared a great deal about winning (even, perhaps especially against friends) for someone who was somewhat of a peacemaker. Sure, she was levelheaded and often the one to break up a quarrel-- perhaps those were the traits that had landed her the position of Prefect-- but she was always ready for a fight. Not necessarily in the physical sense, of course-- a battle of the wits would work perfectly to fan the girl's competitive spirit, as would a match of Gobstones. It was the spirit of competition that riled up the blonde, and Cecily was sure that Ami would be feeling the same way. Oh, this would be one hell of a match.
Ami had already arrived at the ring by the time Cecily made her way across the grounds. As she neared the board, she spotted a familiar grey cat lounging nearby. Ah, Leo, her most favorite creature. She gave him a wide berth as she approached the two girls, still not quite forgiving the mischievous animal for how he acted in the classroom. She was shocked that Ami managed to deal with him on the daily, but as Cecily pondered the idea, she realised that they complemented each other, in that they were both uncontrollably chaotic troublemakers.
When Cecily finally reached where her friends stood, Amadea began explaining the rules. To be honest, Cecily had had no idea of what she was getting herself into. She knew about the existence of the muggle game of marbles, but had never quite learnt how it was played. She was more of a wizard chess sort of girl, a game she had played many a night with her father by the cosy heat of the fireplace.
"You're going down, Cec," she heard Ami taunt, betting a pumpkin juice for the winner. Always running her mouth, that one, and always getting herself into trouble. Cecily couldn't suppress a grin as she retorted. "You're on. I hope you have enough spare change!" Not the best comeback ever, she knew, but it got the point across just fine. She was hoping for something really perfect to come to mind that would knock Ami off her game-- for Cecily knew she had a strong arm and killer accuracy-- but she couldn't win them all.
She could, however, win this game, even if she didn't know totally what she was doing. She always had been a fast learner. So, as she saw Ami heft a stone in her hand, Cecily did the same. Not quite sure of the best way to go about this, she decided that it would simply have to be a matter of trial and error. Taking aim at one of her rival's stones lying in the ring, Cecily loosed the rock in her hand, sending it flying. With good aim and a little luck, it would fly right into one of Ami's stones.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
𝓐madea sat back, grinning as her friends sat down to begin the round. She glanced over at Ami's cat, as it prowled around near the table, but not close enough to cause any harm. There was something about cats that freaked her out; maybe it was their beady eyes or the way they always seemed to just materialize out of thin air without making a sign, but they made her shiver.
She shook the thoughts from her mind, focusing on the round in front of her. Ami was making some sort of bet with Cecily involving pumpkin juice and she laughed to herself. It was just like her friends to add higher stakes to this friendly competition. She watched as Ami picked up one of her gobstones, throwing it consciously toward one of Cecily's. Cecily then picked up one of her gobstones, throwing it strongly toward one of Ami's.
Ami's throw at Cecily's gobstone was quite powerful and surprisingly accurate as well. It forcefully knocked Cecily's gobstone out of the ring, leaving the Ravenclaw with only 6 gobstones left in the ring. Amadea watched Cecily's rebuttal, as she attempted to catapult her gobstone back at Ami's. Cecily's throw was surprisingly weak in Amadea's opinion, but the gobstone did its job, finding its target and knocking Ami's gobstone out of the ring as well. The game was tied again, 6 to 6.
"Good job guys," Amadea said to her friends. "We're moving on to round two now!"

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
"Aw, hell yeah!" Ami cried, pumping her fist in the air as one of her gobstones knocked one of @Cecily Quinn's out of the ring. She could smell a victory in the air already, and could already taste the sweet, sweet taste of the pumpkin juice Cecily was going to get her. "That's how you do it, baby!" Even Leo seemed mildly excited about her success, as the gray feline sat up and eyed the circle of stones with mild interest, before slouching back into his relaxed lounging position. Good thing he didn't want to join in the festivities- Ami was pretty sure Cecily and Amadea would have an aneurysm if Leo jumped in to "participate" in their friendly match.
The smile was wiped from her face, however, as she watched Cecily knock one of her own gobstones out of the circle. "Oh, come on!" Ami yelled loudly, although the glint in her eyes and the quirk at the corner of her mouth signaled her protests as merely joking. "Come on, @Amadea Campbell- I mean, Ref. That's gotta be like, a foul, or something. Totally illegal. Cecily isn't allowed to be athletic."
Ami winked at Cecily, though, because she was pretty sure that Cecily would still take it as a harmless joke. Obviously, Cecily was fairly athletic, considering that she was on the Quidditch team, but if you only spared a cursory glance for the quiet Ravenclaw, nothing about her particularly screamed "jock!" Really, Cecily was one of the biggest nerds she'd ever met in her entire life, save for maybe Celynne or Amadea. She still loved her though, of course. Her friends were the people who made life at Hogwarts fun and exciting, and Cecily and Amadea were no exception.
Surveying the circle of stones with a keen eye, Ami aimed for one of Cecily's stones towards the edge of the circle again, consciously choosing one that would be easier for her to knock out of the circle. With another swing of her arm and flick of her wrist, she sent the gobstone sailing through the air, into the circle.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
Cecily let out a frustrated breath as one of Ami's Gobstones collided solidly with hers, the momentum sending it flying out of the ring. Ami yelled in delight, confident and boisterous as always. Cecily's disappointment was short lived, however, as was Ami's overhasty celebration. Cecily smirked as her own stone made contact, tying the score. It was her turn to celebrate now, as she turned to Ami, who was characteristically lodging a complaint with Amadea. "Ha! What was that about winning?" she taunted, although both girls were doing remarkably well for their first-ever throws. Perhaps it was just beginner's luck, but the Ravenclaw preferred to think it was her fantastic athletic ability playing a part. After all, her spells were crap, so she might as well be good at physical activities.
If the match kept up this way, Ami would win simply by virtue of going first, and Cecily was not about to let that happen. Not only was she determined to win just because she wanted to, she was positive that she would rather chew of her own foot than listen to the rowdy Hufflepuff brag about winning for eternity. Preferring to stay away from cannibalism, the stakes were higher than ever-- not to mention the pumpkin juice on the line. "I will be athletic if I damn well please, Ami Procoppio," Cecily retorted with a good-natured grin before turning back to the board. At this point, she would typically be thinking strategy, but there wasn't a whole lot to go off of there. Cecily really had no idea about the finer points of this game, and it wasn't like she was anywhere near good enough to knock out two of Ami's Gobstones at once, or something equally as ridiculous and awesome. So, settling on not fixing what didn't appear to be broken, Cecily decided to repeat what had worked for her last round.
Rolling the smooth stone over in her palm, Cecily narrowed her eyes at the board, searching for her next unlucky target. Her eyes drifted warily over towards Leo, who continued to lounge nearby. Even sleeping, he looked mischievous. Cecily swore that she would ignore him for the rest of his lazy cat life if he even tried to make a move on their game. But he appeared to have no interest in their match, for which she was infinitely grateful. Surely if something went wrong Ami would claim victory, touting that she would have won had her cat not intervened, to which Cecily would be forced to reply that Leo only got in the way to save Ami the shame, because he knew she was going to lose. And the two of them would be locked in a battle of wills for the rest of eternity, which would certainly get tiring after a while, but both of them were too stubborn to yield ground. So really, everyone involved would be much better off if the grey, furry devil just stayed where he was.
Putting the distraction out of her mind, Cecily locked eyes on one of Ami’s Gobstones that was sitting defenselessly towards the outer edge of the ring. She drew her arm back, aimed, then brought it forward in a sidearm throw that sent the Gobstone zinging towards its mark.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
𝓐madea rolled her eyes jokingly at Ami as she attempted to call a foul on Cecily's throw. Clearly the competitiveness of this match was only increasing. Luckily, both of the girls were her friends and Amadea could have some fun with this.
"Don't underestimate Cecily," Amadea warned Ami with a smile. If Amadea was being completely honest, she was surprised with how well both of her friends were doing. She was sure that neither of them had played Gobstones before but both had successfully completed the first round. Maybe it was beginner's luck or maybe they were just innately skilled, but whatever it was, it left Amadea thoroughly impressed.
Amadea studied her friends who were preparing for the next round. She followed Cecily's gaze as it switched from the Gobstones board to Ami's cat who was lounging a ways away from the board but had now sat up at the sultry sounds of Ami's screeches. Without even having to look at Cecily, Amadea knew what they were both thinking. That cat had to stay far away from the Gobstones game. The little monster would ruin the entire game if it even stepped one little measly paw onto the board. Of course, as referee, Amadea felt obligated to say something.
"Ami you know I love you," she said. "But I swear to God if your cat comes an inch closer I will personally have to disqualify you. That cat is trouble." She narrowed her eyes at the furry little creature as he finally settled back down where he was. Letting out a sigh she didn't know she was holding, Amadea turned back to the game, finally able to focus now that the cat wasn't moving around. Both girls decided to stick with the same type of throw they had performed the last time, probably hoping that the strategy of keep doing what works would work yet again for them.
Ami threw her Gobstone first, consciously aiming toward one of Cecily's. While the strength and strategy behind the throw was clearly evident, the Gobstone flew out of Ami's fingers at the wrong time. Instead of lobbing it toward the board, the Gobstone flew in the complete opposite direction. Amadea watched, horrified, as she realized the trajectory of the stone. She opened her mouth to say something, wondering if there was anything she could do to stop it before--
"MROWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Even despite knowing what was about to happen, she still jumped as Leo screeched loudly, awoken from his slumbering position as the Gobstone smacked him squarely in the side. As much as she hated it, the first thought that popped into her mind was Wow he and Ami are perfect for each other, they've got matching screams. The second was, He probably deserved that. Shaking the terrible thoughts from her mind, Amadea turned back to the game, where Cecily, yet again, used the inner athlete no one knew she had in her to lob her Gobstone squarely at Ami's, knocking it out of the ring.
"Uh, so," Amadea said, flustered. "Clearly, Cecily won that round. Ami you might want to make sure your cat is okay. And then we can continue on to the next round?" The Gobstones weren't that large and Amadea was sure that Leo had screeched more out of the surprise rather than actually being injured. Hopefully Ami's throw wouldn't delay the game too much.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
Ami scoffed at both her friends, rolling her eyes in an overly exaggerated manner and folding her arms over her chest. "Come on, lassies," she said, putting on her best fake-British accent in a completely inaccurate imitation of her friends' accents. It was probably incredibly insulting to anyone with an actual British accent, but Ami had never been the more politically correct of children. "Lassies, 'twas just a joke, 'twas just a joke!" Ami grinned jovially, looking like a ridiculous ginger Jack 'o-Lantern on a stick, with her lips pulled back to reveal a smile full of teeth. "But seriously. I thought that I'm supposed to be the athletic one out of the three of us.""I will be athletic if I damn well please, Ami Procoppio."
"Don't underestimate Cecily."
Ami liked to consider herself as athletic, but in all honesty, she was just strong. There was a huge difference between being athletic and being strong, but she still liked to group them together as synonyms in her mind. And clearly, while @Cecily Quinn was athletic and @Amadea Campbell was responsible, they were both smart and perceptive. Ami was... well, neither. She didn't notice her friends' wary glances towards her demon-spawn cat, although if she had, there was no question that she'd retaliate and insist that Leo was a perfect little angel. In her eyes, sure, he was precious; but to everyone else? Somehow, Ami couldn't fathom the idea that people out there actually hated her little baby boy.
Ami's mouth dropped open in mock surprise, gasping as she pressed her hand to her chest in a display of mock offense. "Leo is a perfect angel," she insisted, although her voice dripped with sarcasm. "He's never, ever misbehaved. Me and him, total saints. Never done a single thing wrong in our entire lives. I have absolutely no idea what you could possibly be talking about." Obviously, there was no way that Ami actually believed that she and her cat were both completely innocent beings; they were both troublemakers, and she wasn't about to shy away from that fact. But surely such rambunctious behavior didn't warrant full-on hatred?"Ami you know I love you, but I swear to God if your cat comes an inch closer I will personally have to disqualify you. That cat is trouble."
"Alright, Cecily..." Ami said, continuing to talk her big game. "Watch and learn, baby. This is the round I knock it out of the park." Oh, how ironic those words would prove to be in just a few moments. It was almost like the powers the be had a really dumb sense of humor and a penchant for unnecessary fourth wall breaks. As she hefted the stone and let it fly, her mouth dropped in surprise as the gobstone headed not for the circle, but for her cat! She sucked in her breath as the stone hit Leo, and he screeched like the little baby that he was. "I..." Ami stuttered, glancing at Amadea and Cecily with wide eyes. "Bu- wh- that's illegal!" she exclaimed, her eyes pleading Amadea to call a foul on the stone. "Failing is- isn't failing illegal? That's so rude!"
Leo glared at his owner, licking his paws as he didn't even deign to look at Ami. Getting to his feet (paws? toe beans?), the cat circled the girls and the board of gobstones, before finally settling down several feet away, under the shade of a tree, and most importantly, far, far away from the shenanigans that the trio was getting into.
Muttering to herself, Ami sighed as she picked up another stone, staring intently at the circle. "Alright, Cecily," she said, cracking her knuckles before she threw. "You know what? It's fine. This is fine. I can bounce back, easy peasy. I've done crazier." Once again, Ami aimed for one of Cecily's gobstones closer to the edge of the circle, tossing it as hard as she could, her passion channeled into the energy of her toss.
Ami chooses a CONSCIOUS THROW.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
Cecily's mouth dropped as Ami's gobstone flew out of her hand, arcing not in a direct line for one of Cecily's stones but...for Ami's cat? The blonde could barely hold back a laugh as the grey beast screeched in displeasure, leaping to its paws. At first, Cecily felt a pang of pity for the man-- after all, getting hit by a Gobstone surely was some sort of painful-- but any remorse she had quickly dissipated when she remembered how much she detested her friend's cat. After all, the dude had not only knocked over an entire bottle of ink and rolled around in it, but also clawed the living hell out of Cecily's arms when Ami had chucked him at the blonde, forcing the Ravenclaw to throw him again, and this time at another Hufflepuff-- Amadea, to be exact. So, frankly the cat was, in Cecily's lofty opinion, significantly more effort (and trouble) than it was worth.
As Leo stood up and briskly moved away from the trio's chaos, Cecily's focus returned to the game. She was one up on Ami-- finally! Even with Ami's abnormal strength, it was starting to look like Cecily had a chance at winning this match. Hefting a gobstone, she eyed what appeared to be an easy target. Drawing her arm back, she let it lose at one of Ami's stones.

Some Gals & Some Gobstones
Due to mod decision we have decided to do the rest of the rolls for the game without an RP to speed it up.𝓐madea smiled as Ami, outraged, sputtered something about failing being illegal. She wasn’t surprised; her friend’s competitiveness was clearly showing. But the game wasn’t over yet. The two girls stuck with the same type of throw, clearly hoping that it would work.
For the third round, both girls had stayed focused and successfully knocked each other’s Gobstones out of the ring. They were doing well! Amadea grinned at them. The fourth round went just as successfully for them, as they both hit their marks squarely, leaving the game close as ever.
The fifth round was slightly more interesting. While Ami’s strategy continued to work and she successfully hit Cecily’s gobstone out of the ring, Cecily must have become distracted by something as her gobstone flew out of the ring. It hit a tree with a loud thwack and Amadea looked in horror as she saw the trajectory of the gobstone flying directly toward sleeping Leo. Yet again, it hit him squarely in the side, awakening him from his slumber. He jumped up, letting out the loudest hiss Amadea had ever witnessed. He bared his teeth at the girls and Amadea fought the urge to jump up from the table and run away. She wasn’t going to be scared of this cat; he was just angry after being hit from a Gobstone. Again. ”CECILY!” Amadea exclaimed loudly. ”Please try to be more careful! As much as you hate Leo, don’t hit him with your gobstones!” Amadea didn’t want Leo to get hurt, as much as she hated that darn cat.
Amadea sighed. ”Okay onto the sixth round,” she said, sitting back in her seat. The sixth round went even more horribly than she could have imagined. Both of the girls were off their game from the mishap during the last round and Ami failed her toss, missing Cecily’s gobstone entirely. Cecily, yet again, lobbed her gobstone somewhere off to the side. Amadea ducked in order not to get hit, but as she glanced over to where the gobstone was headed, she wished she had just stayed and taken the hit. The gobstone. Hit. Leo. Again. Amadea wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. What was going on? Did she need to set up boundaries around the table so the gobtsones wouldn’t keep hurting innocent creatures nearby?
”CECILY! Amadea shouted. She didn’t usually shout at people and she didn’t like to be angry, but right now she was pretty fed up. How many times were people going to hit the cat. ”I swear to God you guys have to start paying better attention to your roles. The next person to hit the cat is automatically disqualified.” She gave her friends what she hoped was a stern glare and sat back down in her seat, ready to moderate the next round.
They were onto the seventh round. Amadea hoped that this round would proceed in a safer manner. Both of her friends seemed shaken and rattled from the events that had transpired during the last two rounds which explained why both of their throws missed grandly. They were on to the eighth round.
The ninth round yielded some results; Cecily’s throw hit Ami’s gobstone out of the ring. Ami’s gobstone wasn’t as lucky, missing Cecily’s narrowly and leaving the Ravenclaw one point ahead.
The tenth and final round was now upon them. Both girls were determined to do well and it showed; both of them successfully hit their opponent’s Gobstone. Unfortunately, since Cecily had one more Gobstone in the ring than Ami, that left Ami with no gobstones left in the ring. Amadea braced for the inevitable…
The Gobstones let out a noise and a second later, Ami was covered in a gross white liquid, spoiled milk. Amadea scrunched up her nose, the smell of the putrid milk filling the air. She quickly grabbed a bucket of water she had prepared nearby and doused her redheaded with the water, rinsing her of the spoiled milk.
”Cecily wins the round!” Amadea announced in her best announcer voice. ”Congratulations! Looks like you owe her some pumpkin juice,” Amadea said smiling at Ami. The round was complete!Round #3Round #4
