Watering Trees and Strangers
This is a private thread between @Willow Anderson , and Hanako Tone . Mentioning : @Ruka Tân
The previous events of what happened in the abandoned toilets shook Hanako more than he thought. He didn't think much before, after puking out slugs all day and swearing revenge, he was just determined to kick Ruka Tan's grass with his new magic spells or whatever and settle the score.
What he realized after studying for days without barely a break was how utterly ridiculous this is. It was disgusting him to the core at how he managed to let the little pup change himself so much. Even if it was for a better future, Hanako never did this before!
He had gone into many kiddie fights after saying some unnecessary things here and there, but he had never been so affected to the point of revenge. And it scared him to the core. What happened to the cool calm and collected but immensely annoying Hanako Tone?
Hogwarts had changed him. The absence of his family changed him worst than he thought. Back then, if anyone dared to touch him his overprotective family would definitely take care of it.
But here? He swore he was just a rich kid with attention issues that turned into a rich wizard with attention issues overnight. The change was too drastic, too sudden, too fast. He had almost no one behind his back and he had to depend on himself.
The independence enthralled him yet he felt scared at the same time.
Of course, instead of being whiney about friendships and thinking he's cool and all picking on random strangers, he could've just made new friends. Find ones that make him see the bright sight of things, make memories and live the rest of his Hogwarts life in peace, affection, and cuddles.
But Hanako was way too conscious of his image to think more about it. Instead, he decided the best way to make himself feel better, is to do the things he used to too.
One of them being to disturb strangers in their sleep.
A few feet away from him, a girl decided that sleeping under his favorite tree was a great idea.
He was certain he had never seen the girl before.
There, sleeping peacefully under the shaded tree was a Hufflepuff he has not been acquainted with before. Her long blonde hair shimmered golden strands under the scattered light that managed to pass through the abundance of leaves above her. Her sleeping face screamed serenity that Hanako almost felt bad.
Almost.
Here he was, trying to prove himself more than anyone else that he hasn’t changed. How could he convince himself when there was even small doubt over this simple action. Something he used to do even more carelessly before he went to Hogwarts.
He needed to show himself nothing changed. He had to.
“ Our top story today, the latest sudden rainfall that surprised everyone in an instant”
He recited in a mundane weather reporter as he opened the cap of a water bottle he was coincidently holding, avoiding eye contact with the Hufflepuff's face.
“ I'm meteorologist, Hanako Tone. Thank you for joining us today. We’ll be discussing the events of the new few minutes and as far as it goes, the downpour seemed to have started by disguising itself as merely a light rain~”
He swayed the water bottle front and back right over the Hufflepuff's sleeping form, already spilling a few drops on the poor girl.
“ However, within seconds the light rain decided to call it quits and instead replaced with the downpour we know and experience today..”
He trailed off and finally poured all the water over the sleeping figure, his tone slightly cold and his smile seemed to grow. Admiring the science behind gravity as the water flowed from the bottle and unto the victim like a short-lived waterfall.
For a split second, a flash of remorse crossed his face after his horrendous action. But when he told himself this meant he hasn’t changed, remorse was quickly replaced with a cheerful face.
He shook the bottle a bit, to get every last drop onto the unsuspecting Hufflepuff.

Willow had been feeling a lot better since the chaos that had been the beginning of March was slowly settling down. This month had exhausted her and deprived her of the ability to do some of her favorite activities as she had existed in her head for most of the month so far. Even with the weather being so nice lately, she hadn't gotten out as much as she had hoped. She decided to make her way down to the grounds and spend some time laying underneath a tree.
It may seem silly to others, but it was one of her favorite pass times. The rays of sunlight shifting through the tree, the warm Earth beneath her, the cool breeze gently passing over her face. It was a treat she liked to indulge herself in every now and again. As she settled in underneath the tree, she found herself dozing off eventually. It wasn't a habit she made because of how risky it could be to just sleep in the open but the sweet siren call of sleep was one she couldn't escape. She had her robe over her as a blanket, and ended up curling up on her side to sleep.
Today was a today that she had vivid dreams, walking through a never ending sunflower field. Her laugh was a melody over the air, and the flowers danced around her as she ran through them. But it suddenly started to rain on her beautiful field. Nothing much at first, but the rain quickly grew in intensity and she found herself waking up rather suddenly. She sat up, going to rub the sleep out of her eyes before realizing she was covered in water. 'Had it rained?' There was no way, as the skies were still beautiful and clear. Eventually her eyes focused on a Slytherin standing beside her with an empty water bottle in hand.
She stared at it, stared back at him, looked back at the water bottle, and then back up to him. "Don't tell me you did what I think you did." Her voice was flat and cold, if she had been woken up from a perfectly good nap by getting water dumped on her by an annoying snake she was going to lose it.

"Don't tell me you did what I think you did."
For a moment, he did not reply to the girl. From the way her voice sounded, she gave the same feeling of a ticking bomb. Keeping him safe for just a few minutes before she exploded. He was for sure certain that she would've tackled him the moment she connected the dots. But it looks like her brain is still in it's dazed state.
At least, that's what he tried to tell himself. It was both easier and safer to blame her brain than come to the conclusion that she really was a bomb ready to explode. A big shame that he didn't like the easy and safe way. Where was the fun in that?
He gave her an innocent smile as he twisted the bottle cap back in place as if he didn't just pour water over a stranger. Setting himself in a dangerous position, he comfortably sat next to her without any change to his previous facial expression.
" I'll be happy to not tell you~"
" Well, I can't read your mind in the first place so it's way too risky to assume things too quick now does it? Should we play a guessing game~?" He snickered.
The chances of him leaving without a scratch grew thinner the more he talked.
He started swinging back and forth from his sitting position, looking like someone who hasn't passed the mental age of a 5-year-old. With every new suggestion, his head tilted left and right.
" Let's see~. Did I fail to notice you when I wanted to water this tree? Did I see you looking feverish and fear that you're suffering from heatstroke? Did I mistake you for an odd yellow flower with a lot of blonde hair? Did you do something to anger the bottle? Making it a dark magical item that wishes to splash anyone that once angered it~? やれやれやれ〜, there are so many things that could've happened. You have to be more specific on what you don't want me to tell you, miss...? " His previous smile turned slightly mischievous, showing he was well aware of what happened.
His eyes looked up as if making ridiculous suggestions was mentally challenging.

As she slowly came to her surroundings from being rudely interrupted from a beautiful dream, she stared at the Slytherin in disbelief. Slytherins loved their games didn't they? She was tired of playing them when she had no piece in them herself. He prattled off ridiculous excuses for what he did the almost heinous crime that he just committed, at some point speaking a different language she only vaguely recognized. She moved to be sitting fully up and staring directly at him. There wasn't much she could do to be intimidating, but when she needed to she pulled out all of her tricks.
Her hands quickly moved to move her now damp hair into a ponytail, she didn't need the hair to keep sticking to her face. She had already been inconvenienced enough. She propped up her head with her hand that was resting on her knee. She was already quite bored. This boy thought what he did was so clever and fun, but really he just disturbed a completely defenseless person. An eyebrow raised as he asked for her name, as if he had the privilege to become an acquaintance. "Just Miss from you will be fine. I don't suppose you'll share your name, you seem like the kind of person that does cowardly acts behind a nameless face." She paused and scoffed softly, "Not much glory in that is there? What's the fun in pouring water on someone that is sleeping, hm? A mild disturbance for them? A change in my routine as I now have to go change clothes? Clever aren't you."
She started wiping off her clothes, flicking some collected water his way. "I'm glad it was me though. This precious yellow flower has thorns don't you know, but something tells me you're not worthy of being pricked by one of them." Her eyes were inquisitive, challenging, and a bit cold. Something that was odd for a Hufflepuff that was normally exuding warmth and kindness. She didn't take kindly to bullies though.

Hanako listened intently to the jabs the girl sent him with a carefree smile. He lightly nodded his head with every rhetorical question the girl said without a drop of shame. She really had to try more to get him to even be offended by her words.
All she said was the person he wanted to be, right? That was what he was aiming for in the first place. It was like music to his ears to be assured of his personality. She was right, he was a coward, a prick, and his methods of making others angry weren’t creative even in the slightest. Cowardly acts behind a nameless face, she says? Well, she wasn't wrong. He was ultimately ecstatic to hear that it was true, that he had not changed at all.
“ A change in my routine as I now have to go change clothes? Clever aren't you."
“ Well, if you say it like that, don’t I deserve a thanks for making you walk more? 10 000 steps every day lead to a healthy li-”
He didn’t get to finish when he was caught off guard. The excess water from her hands flicked themselves towards Hanako and although he was mildly surprised, he couldn’t conceal his laughs.
He understood that the girl was genuinely upset over his little stunt, but how she handled it was entirely new to him. Usually, he would’ve been running away for shelter if he did this. From the way she reacted to this, Hanako wondered if this wasn’t her first time. Her surprise was way too short-lived for his liking. Surely, she had either he wasn’t the first to do this or someone else did something worse.
For a split second, Hanako’s eyes squinted just slightly at the thought. He refused to think of it any further. She was just someone with high levels of patience, nothing more he needed to know. It was best that he didn’t.
“ I’m glad it was you as well~” He admitted, with a musical tone. “ Not worthy hm~? Well, isn’t that an advantage for me? I get to do that to a total stranger and leave without a single scar?” He laughed “ Isn’t that just brilliant and works in my favor. Should I say ‘ Thank you’? Aw, but I deserve one as well~”
He poked her wet cheek and wiped off the water on his finger with her robes and retracted his hand before she grabbed it and could possibly break it. Calm, cool, and composed as she might be. But Hanako would like to keep his fingers intact.
“ Don’t you see how glowy your skin looks like right now because of me? Who doesn’t love glowing skin~?” He made no comment about her hair nor her clothes on purpose, just waiting to see what it takes to make her snap.

Once again the thought emerged in her head, 'Who even was this kid?' She had certainly never met someone like him, and she was glad for it. Even people like Xavier back home weren't this... playful. They were straightforward in their attacks. This was new and she didn't know how to deal with it. Her faux confidence in the situation was quickly fading as the boy refused to back down. While she had been slowly growing in her ability to stand up for herself, it was a shaky ability. One she didn't have a complete grasp on due to her inexperience. Maybe she could ask someone to teach her how... but how pathetic would that be?
While he was cute off by the water being flicked at him she took the opportunity to speak again, as this seemed like someone who loved the sound of his own voice. "I don't think any thanks are required, not when I already walk plenty without your help." His laughing threw her off, he really was taking joy in this, and it disgusted her. She physically recoiled at the sound, momentarily pausing her movements to dry herself off. She wanted him to go away, just to leave her alone. It wasn't far that she would have to walk away from her lovely afternoon because of a cocky snake.
Her tactics quickly switched from being nonchalant about the whole thing as she continued to get angrier with how much he was playing it off as a fun joke to pass time. As he spoke she muttered under her breath, "I could give you a few scars if you really want some." She rolled her eyes at him, "Deserve is a weird way--" Just as he was interrupted earlier, so was she. But with him reaching out to physically touch her face. She flinched more than was warranted for the situation, expecting an impact of him hitting her.
Old habits die hard.
She tried to play it off as just not wanting him to touch her, but a small blush of embarrassment took residence upon her pale cheeks. "Stop acting as if you're doing me this huge favor. It's a stupid method to whatever you're trying to achieve here. I'm annoyed, upset, and soaked. Is that enough for you? Are you going to continue to sit here and pretend like you're on the top of the world? Because if you're satisfied, feel free to take your leave as soon as possible. I don't like to spend my time with venomous snakes." She moved to sit back against the tree, trying to signal that she was done with this conversation. If he were to keep going her anger would only increase, and it would be visible in her facial expressions.

Ah, so she had gone through something.
It was especially hard to pretend nothing happened with her pale face flushed red like that. Couldn’t she had just been tougher and covered it up quickly? Now, even he felt his smile slightly drop. For a second there, was she scared of him?
He hated that. He shouldn’t have done that.
Hanako Tone was the chill guy. The annoying one that never fails to ruin another day. He didn’t care about pouring water over the girl. He would gladly do it again if it would erase the last few seconds of their conversation. Just before he scared her.
He wasn’t used to such...a reaction. All his life, he didn’t make it a secret that he was a bit on the weak side. All bark and no bite. Bark all day and night but never bite. E v e r.
The second she flinched away from his touch, a memory of his grandmother came into mind. What did she say again? That she’s proud of him? If it was such a pleasant memory, why did it felt so bitter now?
It wasn’t his fault, he tried to desperately assure himself as most of the girl’s words were going into his left ear and out with the next. What was she even saying? He didn’t remember. All he knew was she was tired of talking to him.
She laid back against the tree tiredly, clearly showing she was done.
Once again, his mind took him back when she moved away. Was it too early to think she had gone through worse without a pep from her? He was trying to be a bully, yes but he wasn’t that ignorant of the effects from it. He was trying to forget.
At the expense of the misery of others, he showed everyone that he was willing to do it to blow off some steam. But he was still so weak with emotions. He wasn’t strong enough to just mess with everyone whilst keeping a gleeful smile on his face.
If his assumptions were true, whoever did this to the girl was strong enough to make her filled with fear. Who was it? How did they do it? The urge to know burned in him, but was it a good idea to get that information from one that’s probably traumatized from it?
[[ rolled for his amount of idiocy ]]
[ /r 1d20+3 = 7 ]
{ He’s still an idiot }
As if this discovery consumed his mind enough to lose all his focus. Like a creep, he continued to stare at the girl, soaked in the water he had poured over her himself. His smile was available no more. His innocent-like face rested, devoid of any facial movement. With just his eyebrows slightly furrowed, showing he was thinking. If he hadn’t done such deplorable actions, one would think he looked rather kind. A soft face who would never hurt a fly.
Seeing her was like a slap back to reality. A reality where he was still never good enough. How many people would he need to mess with to finally be able to just kill these dumb feelings? He didn’t want to stay anymore.
He turned behind to see an open field. No one insight. Perfect to run away. Perfect to forget this ever happened and go back to his heaven, the Chamber of Secrets. Play his ukulele, sing, dance stupidly, every other healthier way to blow of steam. Whatever it takes to get his head out of the way she flinched away.
It was confusing him really. He admired whoever made her like that, intrigued to know how they accomplished it. To be so strong to forget everyone else but yourself, were one of the very few goals Hanako had set his mind to. Yet, the tightness in his chest showed otherwise.
Was it because he knew he could never be as brave to the girls secret bully? Or something else? His mind dared not to think of any other possibilities.
“ Meteorologist ..” he started to say, his smile coming back to his face as he forgot he had just been staring at her far too long. “ Hanako Tone “.
He had no idea what he was doing. If he wasn’t going to get some answers, he might as well admit defeat. He’s 11. He has time to learn how to be stronger. It didn’t need to be now. He could pick another day to observe what he had been doing wrong.
“ So~” his playful tone returned. “ How much will it be? 10? 15 galleons?Or...would you prefer muggle currency? I can provide both~”
This was a great thing to use after he messed someone up.
“ To make sure you don’t run off to the teachers or something. They always seemed to shut up and forget about what happened after I waved his money around”. He mused, casually as if this was a normal thing to explain. It was hard to tell if he was being serious or not.
Right now, he didn’t care about her telling the teachers. But if she somehow helped me realize what he needed to improve, surely that deserves some reward?

Either this boy really was dead set on ruining her entire afternoon or he couldn't take a hint. Out of the corner of her eye she could see him sitting, waiting, thinking. Fear bubbled up in wonder of what he could possibly come up next to throw at her. He was emotionless. With the stinging words and pointless act of creating an impromptu rain shower, he felt nothing. That was the most terrifying kind of person and Willow wasn't trying to stick around for it.
Then he looked around. Witnesses. There were no witnesses to whatever he was about to do. Willow's panic grew more and more in the pit of her stomach. Her own frantic eyes began to search for somebody, anybody that could be a witness to whatever this boy was about to do. Especially since he saw this all as a game. His smile slowly returned to his face as he spoke again, making a joke. Not even a good one. Slowly Willow's hand started to travel to where her wand was stashed away in her robe. Pausing when he started offering her... money? Ah, so he must be rich too. What a privileged jerk. "What good is there in telling the teachers? You obviously don't care. A detention would just be a minor setback for you."
It was true. What was she going to do? Tell a Professor that some boy dumped water on her? What a pathetic complaint. She could fight her own battles, and fight she would. Her hand found her wand, and slowly pulled it out of her cloak as she stood up and wrapped the cloak back around her shoulders. "The only waving you should be doing is the waving of a wand." She brandished her wand, pointing it right at his face. "Since I can't reparo your bad attitude, this will have to do." Her wand quickly shifted to his legs before saying the incantation. "Tarantallegra." Her own voice was void of emotion, trying to hide her fear of the boy in front of her. As he began to dance, she slowly backed away from him, before turning to leave. She didn't need to have the last word. Just the last dance.

[font=PT Sans]“ Hahah, smart flower~” He mocked in a condescending tone at her assumption of him. She wasn’t wrong about that. Detentions were a past time for him and even if he were to be in months of detention just for spilling harmless water on another student, it’s not like he’ll change. It’s going to take far more than locking him in a classroom to convince him this wasn’t the right thing to do.“ Are you saying I deserve worse? That doesn’t seem very Hufflepuff of you hm~?”
But at the mention of wand-waving, he tilted his head, genuinely showing a confused face. Why would she want to wave wands? He guessed wands were kinda valuable but more than money? A boy who had only solved his problems with sleep and money was deeply puzzled. Did she want his wand? Was he that popular that people wanted his wand now? Wow, he must really be unaware of the power his existence brings.
Of course, all that monologue about her wanting his wand and being popular vanished the second she waved a pointy magical stick over his face. Her pointy magical stick. And what do people do with their magical sticks? The answer flowed through him and alerted his brain that perhaps- m a y b e - he should run away right about now. Fortunately for us, Alas, he was not the type appear weak! (occ: lies). Especially in front of someone as threatening as the flower.
Before he could say anything more, an incantation had been made and as a normal human reaction, he shut his eyes, ready for the impact of whatever was coming. But..nothing? His legs were intact, his arms as well. He frantically touched his face to make sure everything was in place and proceeded with a boisterous laugh, his confidence coming back in a flash.
“ Hah! Tarantelegra? Very cute, flower. Unfortunately for you, I’m not scared of spiders. So you’re going to have to think of another way to reparo my-” and that’s when he realized he had stood up. Even if he did not remember thinking about doing so.
He really should have memorized a bit more of those spells in charms instead of sleeping. Perhaps, if he did then at least he would know that tarantelegra was in fact, not a spell to summon spiders. And he realized soon enough after his legs started to dance even though dancing was not a ‘ Hanako’ thing to do. It was less like dancing and more like his legs going in directions he never wanted to. A mixture of confusion and anger crossed his usually calm face, immediately annihilating his ‘ cool aura’. What else were you supposed to do when you start a horrendously terrible dance you had no intention of doing? This dance was breaking every expectation Hanako wanted from other people. Cool dudes do not dance like this! Cool dudes do cool stuff! This is not cool!
“ O I ! “ Aggravated by his predicament, he rudely called out to the girl- only to realize she was gone from her spot. A frustrated groan escaped his mouth, staring in embarrassment as his legs continued to spin and twirl and tap dance.
He should’ve called her out in a friendlier tone, maybe one without menace. Apologized and let down his ego. She was proven in a short span of time with him that she was much more forgiving than most. The chances of her coming back to help were high, yet it was too much for the egotistical youth. Whom, had only had the mind to scream back at the girl’s retreating form.
“ I’LL NEVER GIVE YOU MONEY, YOU HEAR?! N E V E R !! “
Poor child. Honestly. How humiliating.
