Spells, Wands and Games Club
GAME 2
───────────────
Two flags, two teams. Blue and Red. This is a game that involves strategy, teamwork and spell proficiency. Within your team's designated border, work together using spells along with other ingenious tactics to annihilate your opponent's flag as well as defend your own. By the time limit of 25 minutes, the team which flag is in the better condition wins! Good luck and be sure to have fun!
════════════════════════════
.Notice.═════════════════════
Like all days, you would have woken up, wether it be getting up within the first few minutes the rays of sun leaked through the curtains of your dorm or taking as long as half an hour to drag yourself off the comfort of the bed. Routinely, you’d prepare to start your day. But somehow, would find that an oddity of an envelope was placed in one of your two shoes. Curious to who might have left a letter for you, you would unfold it to read a neat and cursive handwriting.
Reducio
For all Spells, Wands and Games club members. The game today would take place at dusk (6pm) on the grounds not far from the whomping willow. See you there!

Loveliest Regards, A.

───────.HOW.TO.PLAY.──────
Reducio
Your aim is to ensure that your team’s flag is in a better condition than your opponent’s by the end of the game.

To avoid dragging the game on for too long, the game will conclude after 6 rounds (IC 25 minutes).

There are two parts of the flag; the banner (flag) and the pole. The banner has 750hp while the pole has 1250hp. Since a flag is immobile, there will be an accuracy check to determine the success of your hit. The accuracy DC for the banner is 18. The accuracy DC for The pole is 15. If the health of one of the parts drops to 0, the entire flag would have been destroyed.

Please state which part of the flag you are aiming for in your actions at the bottom of your posts if applicable.

If you happen to miss the flag, there is a chance 40%-50% chance that the spell might hit an opponent instead. This is done by a dice roll. Unless one has the evasive manoeuvre ability, this hit will be automatic. No additional evasion roll will be initiated.

Only limited spells have effects on the flag. Here is a list of options.
Reducio
Banner can be:
1) burnt with Incendio
2) burnt with Incendio Duo
3) extinguished with Extinguo
4) repaired with Reparo

Pole can be:
1) burnt with Incendio
2) burnt with Incendio Duo
3) weakened with Spongify
4) hit with Flipendo
5) extinguished with Extinguo
6) repaired with Reparo
7) weakened with Spongify
════════════════

Spongify will increase the damage of other spells like Flipendo and fire-based spells by 20%. The duration of the spell will be determined with a 1d6. Roll 1-3 = 1 Round, 4-5 = 2 rounds, 6 = 3 rounds].

Reparo will restore 65 + (AP x 10) health to the selected part of your team's flag. This is done with the accuracy DC of 10(pole) and 12(banner) instead of 15/18.

For the effects of other spells, please refer to the duelling list.

Other than the flag, feel free to hinder your opponents with other spells. Be creative and perhaps break some rules for the fun of it!

Keep in mind the status of your character’s health as some of the spells deliver damage. If your hp falls below 0, your character will face automatic death elimination and will be unable to continue with the game.

──────.RULES.&.ROLLS.──────
Reducio
general rules can be found here. click here for the list of spells and their effects.
In this game, it’s one action per moderations round. (Eg. Casting a Spell, Dodging, Play foul... or using special powers that you have obtain from a special race is considered an action too).

By dodging, there will be a +6 to your evasion roll.

By playing foul, eg casting an ‘illegal spell’ or physical attack there is a risk of you getting caught. There will be a D20 wisdom roll and a DC of 15 to determine if Aurelia has successfully caught you in the act.

Fire-based spells have been legalised for this game. (Only use if you have them in your trunk)

If you happen to be a disarmed, the process of obtaining your wand from the ground would cost one round.

If you happen to be on fire you can choose to put out the flames by hand or using the stop, drop and roll manoeuvre. Both will cost you one round as well as an additional 25hp damage. Another alternative is the Extinguo spell.

STAMINA When multiplied by 100 equates to the Health Points you start of with.

EVASION Combined with D20 result and compared with your attacker’s accuracy roll will determine if you evaded a successfully cast spell.

STRENGTH Not applicable in this game (Sorry :sweatingbullets:).

WISDOM Combined with D20 result will determine the success of your spell.

ARCANE Determines the damage done by a spell accordingly.

ACCURACY Combined with D20 result and compared against your target’s evasion roll / accuracy DC for flag, will determine the success of your hit.

───────────────
IC Rules
───────────────

The following rules below apply to each and every match. If caught breaking these rules, you face the possibility of being kicked from the club. Ooc — No you won’t be kicked out of the club OoC of course! Were all here to have fun!)) You can cheat or play foul all you want. The moderator’s perception (wisdom) check is used to determine if you are caught. If caught, your character will be pulled out from that current game.

1. The use of Diffindo and Lumos (for the sake of fellow dhampirs) is strictly forbidden only unless a game requires these spells.

2. Only spells are to be used.

3. There should be no attempted physical attacks.

Earlier that day, in the morning, Aurelia had handwritten more than a dozen notices and assigned her loyal house elf, Eaux the task to deliver them. Sending a house elf to do this particular errand was far more effective than a dozen owls. However, instead of passing the letters personally, Eaux had stuffed the notices in the shoes of the respective club members unbeknownst to Aurelia. Regardless, the job of notifying the members about the game that evening was checked off the busy house elf's checklist.

Blue and red were the colour of the flags (will put images up soon) Eaux had brought Aurelia later that day upon her request. Fortunately Aurelia was not one without manners and had muttered a quick 'thank you' before she began to set the flags up despite the Notrésvace house elf insisting on helping. Although she had all the authority to send the Notrésvace house elf away, it would be very much impertinent for her to do. Therefore, after much pestering had Aurelia finally let the tiny creature assist her. If not for the levitating charm, the tall flags would have been far too heavy for the small elf to manoeuvre.

After about thirty minutes, the playing area was finally set. Around each of the flags was a border, a carefully drawn circle with a radius of about 10 feet in white paint on the grass. By this time, the sun was beginning to set, it would mean that her club's members would be arriving any time soon. With that, Aurelia took to the skies to the skies on a broom and watched as members arrived at the rendezvous and gathered around Eaux.

After a few moments of assessing the players, she floated down right in front of the crowd. There were a few new members and therefore, Aurelia would go through the rules. She sure hoped they would not be broken like the last game had. "I am Aurelia, I'm sure you would be familiar by now. Once again, there are only two simple rules you have to abide by in this club. Firstly, no physical attacks, I do not want this rule to be violated again." She put much emphasis on her last few words. The members who took part in the last game would know which few individuals she was referring to. "Secondly, the use of Diffindo and Lumos is impermissible. However, for today's game, you are allowed to use any fire based spells. I assume all of you know the basics of stop drop and roll."

"Todays game you will be assigned into teams. The game we will be playing involves strategy, teamwork and spell proficiency." Aurelia explained. "Within your team's designated border, work together to annihilate your opponent's flag. By the time limit of 25 minutes, the team whose flag is in the better condition will win."

S.W.A.G. Club. Piérre had heard of the slang ‘swag’ before, and he knew it to mean ‘hip’ or ‘cool’. He was in no meaning of the word ‘cool’, but he certainly liked the idea of what the name implied: Spells, Wands, And Games. Piérre was all over games and having fun.

The Gryffindor Quidditch team wasn’t doing to hot this year, and he had had no playtime at all whatsoever. This club gave him the opportunity to do what he liked to do best; have fun.

He had first heard of the club through posters and from hearsay of the previous game the had played, Shuntbumps. He had signed up almost immediately after how fun it had sounded, and here he was, walking out to the grounds where the next game was going to be played.

Evidently, it was called Two Flags, and after Piérre had finished reading the details of the game, he decided that it sounded very much like the Muggle game Capture the Flag and Eagle’s Nest, minus the fact that they were attempting to burn down the other totem-like flag and not capture it and bring it across a set line on the playing field.

Any way you sliced it, though, it was a game, and it would be enough to let Piérre’s ADHD-like energy escape him for the span of twenty-five minutes. Classes had drained him enough, but, like ah good entertainer, he still had energy to spare. He had spent every day before the game started learning as many offensive spells he could, and practiced casting them until he could mostly get them to work. He hoped it would be enough on this day.

Until the game started, though, Piérre would wait for the next person to show up, finding a nice, soft patch of grass before hearing which team he would be placed on.

Rolled a D4 to Determine House Color for the day:
1-
Hufflepuff
2- Ravenclaw
3- Gryffindor
4- Slytherin

Number Rolled: 2
Ravenclaw

Piérre was wearing the same outfit he had worn when raking leaves with his small group. A large, oversized, puffy black coat filled with down, and a blue and black striped scarf, signature of Ravenclaw tied around his mouth, hiding all of his facial features except sparkling bottle green eyes, typical of a young boy. Small puffs of vapor from his breaths floated through the air, and he would watched them quietly, rocking back and forth to keep himself warm, for he was quite unused to the temperatures of Scotland yet.
Piérre will wait for other people to show up

Katrina had woken that morning to the licking of her face. This was, in fact, a normal way for her to greet the day. The orange fluffiness of her kitten Boomerang sitting on her chest and licking her face. This morning, however, she had wasted quite a bit of time sitting there petting her cat rather than getting productive for the day. She had eventually, slipped into her usual black cloak and leggings, she added a pair of dark snow boots and her red and gold striped scarf to ward against the cold weather. She hardly even noticed there was something in her shoe until she was trying to lace up the front.

Katrina found the, now crumpled, letter that was placed in her boot. It appeared that today was one of those slow and out-of-focus mornings. She had read the letter with growing excitement. The prospect of S.W.A.G. team had completely slipped her mind in the activities of the recent week. She had heard lingering rumors of the last game, a sort of Quidditch type game. Spells, Wands, and Games were something that Katrina rather enjoyed, and a whole club devoted to it made her itch with excitement.

The day seemed to drag by, minutes slowly slipping to hours. At last, classes were over for the day and Katrina finished her homework rather quickly. A few minutes till 6, Katrina slipped on a red hat with a lion emblem and raced down to the Whomping Willow. She checked her watch and slipped it into the inner pocket of her robes alongside her wand.

Katrina tucked the teal chunk of hair under her hat as she approached a few people. It appeared she had reached her destination. There was an older girl who appeared to be setting up some flags with a smaller creature whom Katrina assumed was a house elf. Sitting down, was a boy Katrina recognized as Piérre from the Common Room and when she delivered Christmas letters. He was wearing a Ravenclaw outfit and Katrina walked over smiling. It was comforting to see a familiar face.

Soon enough the girl introduced herself as Aurelia, and she began to explain the games with great enthusiasm. The basics were simple, and the game reminded her of capture the flag. Katrina was excited for the game to begin. She didn't have much experience with spells, but she was still excited to try. Katrina was hoping to be a part of the Prodigal program next year and Charms was one of the things Katrina enjoyed learning. She could hardly wait!

Waking up this morning and getting dressed, Bridget had been in for a surprise. Tucked into her boots was a slip of paper inviting her to the next S.W.A.G. club game. From that moment on, the prospect of what would happen in the evening consumed her thoughts, making it hard to focus on her lessons. After all, she would much rather mentally review the last game and wonder about what they would do this time than listen to boring lectures.

And now she was arriving on the chilly Hogwarts grounds, wearing a hoodie, jeans, and a thin pair of gloves to help shield her from the cold. Her laurel wood wand was held loosely in her left hand as she was going to need it very soon. It appeared this time she was one of the first ones there, the only other people currently in the darkening outdoors being the club's founder, Aurelia, a boy she didn't know, and Katrina. Bridget inwardly groaned. Not targeting Thora had been easy enough last time, especially since they were both targeted and knocked out pretty early, but the more friends she had here, the harder it would be to not have to aim for them. Still, she was here to practice magic. To get revenge from last time. She was not outside in the cold to worry about friendships.

Besides, listening to Aurelia's explanation of what they would be doing, this time it would be quite different. They wouldn't be on brooms, which Bridget liked as it was easier to cast with two feet firmly on the ground. Also, they wouldn't be trying to knock other people out, instead targeting a flag. And finally, they would be working in teams. The small girl wasn't too thrilled about the team part. Sure, it would be nice to have attacks coming from only one direction, but she worked better alone. In addition, it was a 50-50 chance she'd be paired with the one person she had been hoping to Flipendo really hard...

Today was not a good day for an outdoor game. Scottish winter was not the friendliest of weather, with the threat of snow on top of whipping wind. Further, with the second week of school upon Hogwarts, the students were not at all greeted with little homework. In fact, the professors seemed to be providing them with more work than ever. So, annoyance clear from her hood-covered head to her boot-clad feet, Thora was evidently not in a great mood.

The Slytherin had awoken from a fitful sleep at the crack of dawn as normal, still affected by the habits of her farm girl days. Chores were a never-ending task around the Larkston farm, and from a young age, she and her sister had woken up with the sun to get an early start. Stuffing feet into tiny combat boots--her normal for the wintertime, especially with the frosty grass sometimes sending unwanted moistures seeping into her sneakers--she'd heard crackling parchment and felt a sharp pain in her foot.

For some reason she would probably never understand, there was an envelope in her left shoe, just waiting to paper-cut her bare foot. Bandaging the cut on the sole of her foot that was beginning to spurt blood onto her covers with a Ferula, Thora opened and scanned the contents. Another S.W.A.G. club game. Well, at least there was a good--and decently fun--reason she had hurt her foot first thing in the morning. Last time, Shuntbumps had been rather fun while it lasted, despite having been eliminated after mere minutes. The day dragged on and on, and Thora found her spirits dropping lower and lower as she went to class after class without finding anyone she knew to talk to.

As finally, dusk arrived and she made her way out of the castle and into the cool air with only her typical hoodie and jeans--the same outfit she had worn to St. Mungo's--Thora felt her heart rise and then fall. She couldn't be early. She'd made sure it was exactly 5:59 before departing the dorm. Still, Thora needed to make her way up to the main floor and out to the Whomping Willow. How were there only four other people standing around? She'd remembered there being somewhere around ten people last time. Besides, this time around, it felt even more awkward than last time. Thora knew Bridget, but the other two…

Obviously, she knew Katrina. Thora had long forgiven the girl, yet they weren't exactly on the best terms. Sure, it was partially her fault, but the little girl was wary. It was simply part of who she was. Besides, she didn't give away her trust easily. People who deserved it got it, and people who broke it… Well, Thora never knew what to do with those people. Thora didn't recognize Katrina nor the other boy having been at the last game. Perhaps they simply didn't show up, or had just signed up. Either way, the snek realized she had the slightest advantage of at least having played a game with these opponents.

As Aurelia explained the game as she had the previous one, Thora couldn't help but find herself staring at the flagpoles, brow furrowed. While it was apparently some sort of game where you tried to murder a flag and therefore not quite as up her alley as Shuntbumps was with a broom, it still seemed doable and something Thora might not be absolutely horrible at. Charms, hexes, jinxes… All of those came relatively easily to the girl. Sure, she missed at the worst possible times and when she most needed to succeed, but still, Thora had proven herself.

Worse, there were teams. As the Slytherin glanced around at the other students, she realized that there were only a handful of people she was faintly comfortable with. She didn't have much against anyone else in the club, but playing in teams would be tricky. Social situations were probably one of Thora's weakest areas, and working with people competitively? That was not good at all. Hopefully, her team would be decent.

Ruthie was excited for the second SWAG game of the year. She hadn't made it very far in the first and she was eager to redeem herself. At least, she'd managed to make a friend of her assailant: Thora Larkston. She hoped that she'd see the Slytherin out on the field today. Perhaps it was even her time for a comeuppance as well after being targeted at the spontaneous snowball fight that had broken out in the courtyard. Why anyone would target Thora was still mystery to Ru who saw Thora as a bright, kind girl.

The Ravenclaw came out in black leggings and an oversized blue hoodie, aware that this SWAG match would likely involve movement. It was cold as it had often been these past few weeks, but that didn't phase her. Scotland was home and so was its weather. Growing up like this had made her hardy she'd like to think.

When she arrived on the grounds, she was pleased to see several students had already arrived, and Aurelia, of course, who would likely be playing referee once again. Ruthie really didn't know the older Gryffindor girl, but she seemed fair enough. After all, she had heard Aurelia had called out the boys for colliding last match. Ruthie still couldn't believe Jorah had been silly enough to participate in that physical jousting, but then boys will be boys. As she filled in the back, her eye's fell on a familiar face. "Thora, hi!" she beamed, trying not to speak too loud so as to interrupt Aurelia as she wrapped the Slytherin girl in a quick hug. When she released her, she crossed her fingers behind her back for a moment, hoping they'd be on the same team.

[font=Segoe Print]The morning had greeted Rafa harshly, as it always seemed to, day on end. The ghastly sunlight always seemed piercing his sleep, much like a sharp blade would pierce a sponge. Which was truly disappointing – Rafa had always prided himself on many things, sleep being one of them. He was growing eleven-year-old-boy, after all, and an active one at that. He supposed it was the way the world worked – an hour was sixty minutes, fire was hot, and Rafael needed his sleep. Which was funny, because he never seemed to get it – what with schoolwork and surmounting mysteries within the walls of their grand school, his mind never seemed to give him a break. Instead, it ran on all hours of the night, often leaving him sleep deprived and irritable in the mornings.

Though, it had been hard to stay irritable this fine morning, as he had gotten a rather intriguing letter. He had been putting on his shoes when he had first noticed it – an uncomfortable irritant in his left sneaker, reminding him a lot of the rocks he used to find in his shoes after roughhousing on the playground many years ago. It took him a while to get his shoe off and actually locate the small letter. It had been a brief reminder message for the members of the SWAG club – Rafael briefly remembered signing up for such a club, several days ago. That’s today? The invitation was so straight-forward and sudden, it had kind-of taken Rafa’s breath away for a short moment. His breathlessness was not due to fear, however; instead, excitement seemed to take control of his whole being, as if the universe had flipped a switch on his irritable mood. His usual grin quickly slipped to his face, his mind already reverberating with scenarios, possibilities, and general excitement.

This excitement fueled him for his entire day, his elation fading for no one. Due to his energetic anticipation, the hours of his day had flown by faster than stray bullets – he had been positively shocked upon noticing the time. It hadn’t been long after that, and he found himself on the grounds once more, his steps energetic and his eyes bright. Though, people who knew him well could recognize the subtle undertone of determination in his complexion, hidden but ever-evident, all at once. The young Gryffindor boy was often known for his serious competitive edge – it was his nature, to win, he supposed. Not in the way that he did it on a regular basis, but more of the fact that he would not stop until he was successful. He wasn’t the most powerful magically, but he had always made up for his lack in his strength and competitive drive. Some people had learned that the hard way.

Upon arriving, his eyes caught one of those very people. Immediately at the sight of the third year in question, his steps froze, his eyes widening much like a deer in headlights. There she was – Aurelia Notrésvace herself. The same girl that had attacked him in the common room. Twice. Though both situations had been messy accidents, he could still feel her firm grip on his hand. Just the mere memory of their interaction sent a cold chill down his spine – suddenly, he didn’t feel like being present anymore. He really didn’t know what to make of his emotions at this point, actually. Perhaps if he’d known she’d be there, he wouldn’t have come. His entire being seemed to show his reluctance towards the third year – his shoulders hunched slightly, his countenance suddenly guarded and defensive. His face still maintained his determined look, but now, it seemed weaker, as if a dampener had been put on his mood.

Though, he was determined not to let fate get the best of his day – again, anyways. Doing his best to avoid her attention, his eyes desperately searched for any sort of distraction to his current predicament. They quickly caught a blue and white scarf – Rafa quickly turned, taking sight of a familiar face. Pierre. Though he’d never actually had a conversation with the other first year, he’d seen the boy a few times now – in the common room, Quidditch Practice, the Liberations Club – it was a bit confusing, because every time he saw the guy, it seemed as if he were in a different house. Due to the boy being on the same Quidditch Team as him, and in his common room, he’d narrowed his affiliations down to Gryffindor, but it still was a bit strange – not in a bad way, of course. Though, confusion aside, he was starting to feel rather guilty now, having been around the other Gryffindor so often and never actually talking to him. He sighed, his lip bit in thought. Well, that certainly would have to change.

Taking care to watch out for Aurelia, he jogged over to the other Gryffindor, his eyes bright and friendly and a bold grin on his face. Without asking for permission – he hardly ever did –, he sat himself down by his housemate, his hands feeling the green grass below him. “Hey, man. I’m Rafael.” He stuck his hand out in a friendly way, his demeanor laid-back and energetic all at once. “Feel like I’ve seen you around – hope you can forgive my withdrawn nature.”

Ouch...Aurelia added extra emphasis to what she was saying about actual physical contact. He knew he was one of the people who attempted that. Lately he had been relying on his strength and size. Perhaps too much. That needed to change starting with this game. Things needed to get done promptly and effectively. Things would be different. He was so close to winning last time. Unfortunately he also developed the moniker of 'Snot Rocket' to his slight dismay. But if worst came to worst he would use physical strength but not in the way anyone would imagine. He prayed he wouldn't need to resort too much to that but if he did well...everyone would find out.

Carefully the Half-Giant who somehow seemed taller then before. Surveyed everything around himself. Specifically everyone who entered the spot as he did. Yawning he casually glanced over the competition with focused, but soft calculating eyes. His demeanor exuded something not of menace or intimidation but approachability and warmth. It was his usual and preferred demeanor after all. Within the sleeves of his robes he fiddled and messed with his wand absentmindedly. "Well dis'll be a right crap show. " Quinn casually dropped in his ridiculously thick accent. Commenting on the current situation in his characteristically blunt wording.

Dawn had just peaked through the horizon with hesitant gleams of sunshine outside when Astrea woke up that morning, the chilled Scottish air ruffling through the thick velvet curtains of her dorm rooms and snapping the pureblood out of the peacefully warm hypnopompic state she dozed in. Screwing up her face with annoyance and swinging off her covers reluctantly in a way that would have made her latest nanny clutch at her apron with horror, the pureblood had merely sat for a few seconds attempting to recollect her mind for the day. Certainly not the worst way she had greeted the day before, but not the best.

The cold weather and bitter way Astrea awoke drove the young heir in a shivering rush to get dressed, zipping up the zipper of an oversized military green jacket and winding twice round her house scarf with tinglingly numb fingers. The rough edges of carefully sewn on patches on the sleeves gave some sense of feeling as she rubbed her arms, silvery eyes catching the sun-bleached edge of an envelope tucked neatly inside of one of her black leather Timberlands.

She read the letter with careful impassiveness- she had completely forgotten that she'd joined the 'Spells Wands And Games' team club shortly before for magical experience. A team game of 'Two Flags' being held nearing sundown was a perfect chance for that exact thing, yet the mere thought of working alongside others in the biting cold in such activity made her heart crawl. She wasn't a people person, wasn't generally a working together person and more of a do-her-own-thing or follow-her-orders sense of child.

The rest of the day was spent contemplating the possibility of participating in the game, the wandering minutes turning into hours and the sun suddenly on its way down in a blink of an eye.

Before she knew it, Astrea found herself approaching the Whomping Willow at precisely 6:05 on the dot, swirled cherry wand clutched tight in her left hand and breath coming out in misted clouds. There was a severe lack of crowd gathered listening in as the club leader explained the rules, a short outline of ideas that had everyone's attention caught and made it easy for Astrea to seamlessly insert herself in the listening party.

As the guidelines were finished up, a sharp chill ran down the Neptune-Chou's back with the force of a wind-driven wave. She knew not a single person gathered, not a face nor name. A frown pulled at the edge of her lips as she drew up her scarf, fist tightening around her wand where it lay stuffed inside of her pocket.

"Well dis'll be a right crap show." A voice caught her attention, heavily accented and layered thick with a bluntness that trailed back to an overly tall red-head standing somewhat in front of her, towering over all with height alone. Either blessed with insanely tall genetics or with giant blood, who could tell. Perhaps both.

"Quite so." The words tumbled out of her mouth unheeded, the clipped vowels and smoothed over consonants pulling her already quite posh accenting higher, even as it was somewhat muffled by the thick scarf that covered over half of her face and inky tendrils of hair. Her heart skipped a beat at the sudden betrayal of her mouth, reined in mortification threatening to break through the careful mask of porcelain she had constructed.
