Illowy sat on her own on the courtyard fountain, legs ciss-crossed under her as she bent over her most recent sketch. She liked to think she was just practicing her portraits, trying to make herself stronger in them as an artists. Though this wasn't her first attempt on this particular portrait. She'd begun and discarded surely half a dozen tries of this student's face, unable to him out of her mind. To her, if you could get a song out of your head by listening to it, perhaps it would work the same way if she drew him.

Her certainly wasn't in her house, really only seeing him around school here and there and hard barely talked to him, but he intrigued her. Illowy chewed on her lip as her pencil traced out the details of his eyes, the soft curve if his cheek. It might've been clear to anyone aside from Illowy herself that she was dealing with a crush. Those were few and far between with her, finding most people her age to be the most frustrating people to have to interact with.

She was startled from her thoughts when she realized someone was watching her, and quickly hugged the sketchbook her herself, "What?" she asked, a bit more defensively. Discretion probably would have been key here if she'd thought about it soon enough.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Mason was walking around throughout the many turning corridors and moving staircases throughout the castle when he found himself lost. Mason tried his best to get back to the first floor of the school. Finally, he found himself outside on Hogwarts' Grounds.

He thought this might be a good place to relax and write in his journal. Anxious about the ammount of students outside, he looked for a quiet place with less people. Out of the corner of his eye, he spied a girl in Slytherin robes sitting on the fountain alone. This seemed to be the only quiet place outside. I'm bound to get in trouble sitting near a Slytherin but this seems to be the only option,  He thought. With a heavy sigh, he made his way over. Mason sat a bit away from the girl, but still enough that he could see her and her sketchbook.

Mason is not usually a nosy person but what she was drawing intrigued him. He leaned over a bit more so he could see what she was drawing more clearly. About five minutes go by and all of a sudden the girl questions him as if she didn't know he was there. Startled, Mason yells out "Sorry! I was interested in what you were drawing. I didn't mean to be nosy." He moves back, his face heating up.

Illowy's own face flushed bright red, a rare sight on the fair skinned first year as she quickly turned her head away, tucking the curtain of dark waves behind her ear as she nervously flipped the drawing away in her book. Normally, the girl was very together and deliberate in her behavior, and it was difficult to catch her off guard; except when she was lost in her own little world, be that of art or music. That was where she always lost herself.

"You shouldn't just peer over people's shoulders like that." she muttered out, nerves still ringing in her tone, "It creepy and just... terribly rude!" she made the motion to tuck away hair once more that had already been tucked back as she turned to start putting away her art supplies into its case Mishandling it for a split moment, the worn case fell to the ground, sending several pencils and miscellaneous other tools of her trade rolling off, "Bloody-" she grumbled and cut herself off, tossing the sketchbook on her bag and dropping to her knees to starting picking up her mess. Illowy hated looking foolish or clumsy in any way, and never thought of herself of being particularly so. In the moment, it was as though everything she hated dealing with had decided to throw itself at her in that exact moment, keeping her face burning and her nerves on edge.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Mason watched as the girl's face became a bright shade of red. She looked away and fidgeted with her hair. She quickly flipped through her notebook and hid the art he had just seen. She seemed more than Mason thought she'd be. She seemed like she got lost in her art the same way I get lost in my journal, he thought, Mason thought about how this made sense considering how lost she was in her notebook. She didn't even notice him watching her. That sounds way more creepy in my head, Mason thought. He scoffed at the thought and looked back at the girl.
"You shouldn't just peer over people's shoulders like that."
"Its creepy and just... terribly rude!"
She said with an angry tone in her voice, making Mason feel like even more of a creep. She continued to fidget with her hair behind her ear again. She started to put away her pencils and art supplies into a pencil case. "Look, I'm sure I-" he started to say, but before he could get the words out of his mouth, her pencil case fell down to the ground sending pencils and art supplies spilling out onto the ground.

Mason heard her mumble something, then she got on her knees and started to pick up her materials. Mason swiftly got up and went across from her on the ground. He started to help her pick up. This is my fault, after all, he thought. He continued to clean up, looking up for a moment to see her bright red face, then looking back down.

He took a breath and tried to get some words out. "Look, I'm sorry for snooping. It really wasn't right."

"What was your first clue?" she asked, shooting him a glance through icy blue eyes before going back to haphazardly tossing her things back in the case, "Art is personal and... and private. If you want to see things like that, you're suppose to ask. Wouldn't just go peeking at people's diaries too, now would you?"

Perhaps one might think it was overkill to keep scolding him at this point. Truthfully, it was more so her own defense mechanism against her own age group. It had proven well in the past that if she kept fussing, kept being visibly annoyed, that people would leave her alone or avoid her, and that's how she liked to be; alone. Perhaps not the best course of action for a girl of her age, but she wasn't sure how to quite deal with people her own age, they made her nervous and uncomfortable; and in such situations, she simply wanted to run away. No secret, it is much easier to run away if what you're running from has no interest in pursuing.

Though him looking at her work wasn't truly what bothered her. Many people had seen her doodle and draw since she'd been at Hogwarts, and she'd learned to just deal with the fact that if she drew in public, there was high probability that someone would see. Perhaps today, it was simple due to whom she was drawing that set her off.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

"What was your first clue?"
"Art is personal and...and private. If you want to see things like that, you're supposed to ask. Wouldn't just go peeking at people's diaries too, now would you?"
She said, continuing to scold him. Wow, shes really persistent isn't she? Mason thought to himself while looking at her bright red face. He saw the anger and embarrassment in her face. He thought about what she was saying about art being private, Mason understood where she was coming from. Mason did some doodles here and there, mostly in his journal which was private, to begin with.

Nonetheless, Mason understood why she thought art was personal, important. It is your own personal display of thoughts. He knew he shouldn't have looked at it without asking her first. Bringing himself from his thoughts back to reality, he found himself still staring at her and quickly turned his head hoping she didn't notice. He felt his face heat up again.

Picking up the last of her art supplies, he stood up and held out a shaky hand to give her things back to her. He sat back down on the fountain and looked at her sincerely. "I know this is no time for an introduction considering what I just did," He chuckled a bit scratching the back of his neck, "But, My name is Mason. I just wanted to say I know how much that your art means to you and If there's something I can do to make up for it, I'll do it." He looked back at her awaiting a response.

The boy fell quiet, perhaps that meant he would leave her be now and that she'd finally scared him off. However, when she dared to peak once more to see if he was still there, just staring at her. She met his gaze for a split moment. It was a moment she all to eagerly ended, tearing her gaze away once more to keep shoving things back in her case. The only time she dared give him even half a glance was when he stood and offered back the last of her things.

Cheeks burning, she took them, tossing back with their companions in her case. Then came the task of shoving everything to fit in her bag; which probably would have been an easier task if she wasn't trying to rush herself for truly no good reason. In spite of her clear rush, the lad continued to try to chat her up, "I didn't ask..." a common retort from the girl when meeting people in what she deemed as an uncomfortable situation. It had proven somewhat effective in the past to make people even more disinterested in her, even walk away entirely. That gave her hope that maybe this boy, Mason, might react the same way.

Getting to her feet and pulling the poorly packed bag over her shoulder, she passed a glance at him, "Why, for the love of all that is decent, would you want to do a stupid thing like making it up to a Slytherin?" she begged to know, "And why should I be stupid enough to let you?" recently, she'd been having rough runins with a couple of the Hufflepuff girls, making her a bit wary of the supposed "kindest" house in school.

After saying what Mason thought was most polite and the right thing to say in that situation, Mason still looked at her, awaiting a response. After a minute, the girl looked up at him acting as if she had heard what he had said. He looked away confused at her lack of words.

He looked up when she started to put her things away in her bag, trying to fit her pencil case into her already full backpack.

"I didnt ask..."

The girl quickly responded to Mason's confused face. He had never heard someone respond to something he had said in such a rude way. But still, Mason was stubborn and persistent, so this didn't stop him. Before he could get any words out, the girl got to her feet.
"Why, for the love of all that is decent, would you want to do a stupid thing like making it up to a Slytherin?"
"And why should I be stupid enough to let you?"
As Mason heard these words come out of her mouth, he opened his mouth to say something, then closed it, bewildered. He sat for a moment with his mouth wide open. After consideration, he quickly stood up appearing taller than the girl. He looked down at her face.

He swallowed anxiously and explained; "I said It because I meant it. It was the right thing to do, I want to help you because I'm the one who stepped out of line, I looked at your art," He smiled, "Yeah sure you're a Slytherin and I wouldn't normally help out a Slytherin but, you seem different. From what ive seen, you're not just a regular Slytherin, stuck up or...mean, you just seem a bit forward and..." He stops. "distant." He notices he was talking too much and it is silent for what seems like an eternity.

"Sorry!" He finally yelled out. He started playing with the cuffs of his robe anxiously. "That question caught me off guard. I didn't mean to offend you if I did for saying Slytherins are mean. I just think you should take me up on the offer for a favor. I'm loyal if you know me." He tugged at his cuff again looking up into her eyes.

As the boy stood, her eyes lifted along with her chin to follow his, not quite expecting him to be so much taller then her (then again, she did always forget that she was on the shorter side for her age). All the same, she stood her ground, not about to let herself be intimidated by some boy... even if he wasn't actually trying to intimidate her.

He rambled, and Illowy furrowed her brow as she listened. It certainly hadn't been what she was expecting. A wise girl would have taken him at his word, given him the benefit of the doubt and dropped the issue all together. However another part of her wanted to test how serious he was about the situation and test to see if he was bluffing.

Through the stretch of silence, the girl thought until he broke it with his babbling once more, "Fine, you want to do be a favor and make it up to me?" she questioned, crossing her arms over her chest, "Then you can help me practice the Knockback Jinx. I could always use someone to practice on."

No, Illowy wasn't actually that cruel or mean. If anything, she was curious as to why he was so determined to make it up to her, why how she felt meant to much to him. If he agreed, of course she wasn't going to actually hurt him using the Knockback Jinx. She just wanted to see if he'd agree and how far it would go.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Mason stood there, rambling on about whatever useless thoughts were going on in his head.  He watched as she looked up at him, and then stood up and (from what looked like it to him) tried to seem intimidating. This didn't phase Mason at all, as the girl was still very short compared to him. The girl frowned, looking up at him.

When he finished, the girl finally said something,

"Fine, you want to do be a favor and make it up to me?"
Mason went to respond and before he could, the girl quickly answered, crossing her arms.
"Then you can help me practice the Knockback Jinx. I could always use someone to practice on."
As Mason heard the words come from her mouth, he froze. The Knockback Jinx...Why does that sound familiar..? Mason was not as keen on spells and things of that sort. Finally, it popped into his head. His father had told Mason about the Jinx when he was younger; A jinx used to repel the opponent. Is she serious? Does she expect me to let her jinx me? His mind was full of questions and no answers. I doubt she's serious...

He was taking too long to answer. He could either agree and risk looking like an idiot in front of her, or just decline... No, how could he decline?

Still questioning her proposal he answered, "Knockback Jinx eh? You must think I'm really annoying to pull that one on me. What is it you really want?" He answered, satisfied with his response.
