A Not-So Private Stroll
Caprice walked out on the grounds, her bag slung over her shoulder. She wished to be alone after all of her classes that day, because Caprice was tired. All of those lessons, homework, and endless floods of people? Hogwarts could be very exhausting!
I wonder if all schools are like this... or just magic ones. I mean, I wouldn't know. I've never attended a public school until now!
Caprice decided she had done enough walking, so as she found a nearby tree, Caprice instantly plopped down under it. She placed her bag next to her and opened it reluctantly. She knew she better get started on her homework, but she wasn't feeling up to it. Still, Caprice pulled out some parchment and a quill along with ink, sighing. She dipped the tip of the quill in the ink and got to work - beginning on her Charms assignment.
As Caprice wrote the answer for the first question, she found that her brain wasn't exactly cooperating with her. It was buzzing around excitedly, telling Caprice to go back to the dorm and make new friends before dinner.
Quiet, you! Caprice thought to herself, directing the words to her brain somehow. You know as well as I that I would have a breakdown if I tried to make friends like that. It's utterly ridiculous! Preposterous! Besides... who would want to be my friend?
Caprice sighed. There was no point in quarreling with herself any longer. She needed to focus on her work: even if her mind was cluttered and getting in her way. Suddenly, the perfect solution popped into Caprice's mind: meditation. The key to calming herself down at any time.
What a great idea! Caprice thought to herself.
Thanks! I do come up with these spectacular things quite often. Her "brain" answered.
What in the wizarding world am I doing?? Stop talking to yourself, Caprice!
Before she could answer her unintentional words towards herself, Caprice crossed her legs, put her work in a pile in front of her, closed her eyes, and cleared her mind for the first time all day. She breathed in, then out, then in again. When her breath came out for the second time, Caprice smiled in spite of herself. Now this was how to calm yourself. Finally relaxed, Caprice continued her meditation, not aware of anything around her anymore.
