Rather quiet day on Hogwarts, the young wizard decided to fill her lungs with fresh air.
Pacing slowly, calmly, wind made her locks dance with a certain ease and forced her right hand to hold them in place, preventing them to escape any further.
The sky was somewhat dully colored, but Ophelia's color taste made her rather fond of the gray above.
Stretching her left hand upwards, small sunrays escaped through the clouds and tickled slim fingers with warmth, making the girl feel at ease.
Wandering to unknown directions, gaze caught a gigantic mass of water. A small, tiny glimmer shone in blue eyes, observing the dark liquid's steady movement. She proceeded to walk, trying not to expand the distance between her and the water.
Feet carried her to a rather isolated location near the lake. Hidden with bushes, a large tree was resting in dry soil, waiting for a wandering soul to give it a speck of company. Slim figure laid under it, letting the bark hug her robe. Observing the view, lips formed a relaxed smile, then, a thought crawled into one's head.
Hand searched through the robe, trying to get a grip on what it was seeking. Feeling the familiar material, the pale-haired wizard pulled out a black sketchpad with a worn-out pencil stuck to its side.  Taking a band off her wrist, she pulled her locks up in a high ponytail, letting some strands fall out among the process. Then, it grabbed the pencil and started sketching lines. Lines of waves, slowly shading the water among the way.
The air was cool, stroking her soft skin as she inhaled as much of it as she could. And oh, how refreshing it felt.

Classes hadn't yet started for Tremaine, and he had taken it upon himself to explore and re-explore every nook and cranny of Hogwarts. He had dug through every room he was allowed to go in, and even those that he wasn't. He was outside now, enjoying the brisk chill of the air, the sky pale and dismal.
He knew already what he was looking for. He could see the inky water of the Great Lake, hiding in its immense depths a creature more mysterious than those monsters dwelling in the Forbidden Forest. Tremaine knew it was in there somewhere, and he was going to see it for himself.
A stake-out, Tremaine decided in his boyish excitement, would perhaps be necessary to catch a glimpse of this wonderful beast. It took him little time to locate a mass of bushes growing near the edge of the water, nearly obscuring the top of a frost-crested tree.
He made his way to his decided hideout, brimming with joy at the thought of seeing the legendary giant squid up close and personal. He stopped in front of a large bush and pulled aside the branches, only to find that somebody else was already there. He couldn't see them well, but they appeared to be a young girl, drawing something in a well-used sketchbook.
Such a small setback wasn't going to stop Tremaine. Perhaps this girl would like to look for the giant squid. Perhaps - gasp! - perhaps she had even already seen it. Tremaine stepped forward, still holding the branches back, and said loudly, "Hello! I'm Tremaine Jarrow. What are you doing here?"

Almost finished, just ONE more line and it will be done. Just pull it with a pencil and-
bam.
A giant line went over the drawing, hand shocked of a surprising loud greeting. Looking at the now-ruined sketch, eyes flicked up towards the unknown voice. A boy her age was standing in front of her. Red curls resting on his head, skin peach-colored, blue gaze met gray-blue orbs, boy's lips smiled towards her.
"Um, hi."
She said with a rather disoriented tone, surprised another figure found its way here. Disappointingly looking at the paper, eyebrow twitched with dissatisfaction. Closing her sketchbook and putting it back into the robe, lips then continued to speak.
"Just... wandering around, I guess."
Body started moving, hands and legs aiding to rise up, she stood, shaking out the dirt off her robe. Taking another look at the boy, he was wearing a different attire. Instead of yellow, edges were decorated with red streaks and a familiar crest. Griffindor.
His expression seemed rather excited like he was searching for something. Ophelia didn't know exactly how or why he came here, but he did appear eager. Fixing one of the fallen locks behind her ear, she leaned on the tree with her back, waiting, expecting the boy to continue talking.

Tremaine's gaze flickered to the sketchbook as the girl's pencil left its path to slice out a giant line across her drawing. He was going to apologize, but didn't have time to open his mouth before the girl started speaking. Tremaine fell silent, listening with rapt attention despite the fact that she had said nothing other than "Um, hi".
She was pretty enough, with oddly grey-colored hair and deep blue eyes. She was wearing a robe trimmed with eye-popping yellow. Funny, she didn't look like a Hufflepuff. She looked... well, to be frank, she looked rather frightening. Not that I'm afraid of her, Tremaine reminded himself. Gryffindors aren't afraid of anything. Especially not perfectly nice girls.
The girl had put away her sketchpad, a bit disappointing for Tremaine, who had been trying to get a good look at it. From what he had seen, she was pretty darn good. It seemed like a lot of people had artistic talent here. It made Tremaine feel rather ordinary. But that would be different when classes started. He would be getting all O's and everyone would want to study with him.
For now, all he cared about was seeing that giant squid. He nodded slightly as she explained why she was there. Okay, now for the formalities. He'd just make some polite conversation, and then he could ask her if she'd seen the giant squid. "Exploring, huh? I've been doing the same. The Great Lake looks beautiful. That was a splendid rendition of it as well - the art you did, I mean. By the way, I didn't catch your name."
Okay, next time he'd have to remember not to talk so fast.

His lips seemed to be quite talkative, but her ears were able to keep up well enough. He spoke about exploring The Great Lake with yearning tone, which made Ophelia wonder if the boy came here with a certain intention after all.
Then, he spoke about her drawing, complimenting strokes of the lake, which were now hidden in her robe's inner pocket. Too bad the sketch got ruined. Maybe she could fix it later.
Voice asked for a name, blue gaze switched down for a second or two, before shifting towards the boy again. Slightly tinted lips with a trace of chapstick, the wind was drying indeed, answered:
"Ophelia."
Tone seemed cold, yet somehow showed a trace of enticement. Hands were resting in outer pockets, eyebrows still formed a slight frown, which was a common look on this girl's face, eyes looking, piercing through the boy's paler orbs, a hidden speck of kindness trying to reflect through the deepness of blue. Then, she looked away, trying to find a spot to focus on.
It takes a while to get to the girl's good side, but was it worth the trying? Only those with right intentions seemed to unlock the heart of gold, a beautiful smile, a set of white teeth reflecting through faintly colored lips, waiting to be revealed to a fresh pair of eyes.

The girl had a chilly presence, and her clipped, closed-off voice caused Tremaine a moment of hesitation. But his fearless attitude flared right back up, melting away whatever ice had crept through. "Ophelia," he repeated, trying the sound out. "I love it. Very exotic. From Hamlet, right? I read a bit of that in my old school."
He wondered if she was muggle-born and if she had even heard of Shakespeare, though he was pretty well-known among both muggles and the magical community. He couldn't remember much about the character Ophelia, but it was an undoubtedly magnificent-sounding name.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Ophelia." He had been taught to call the other students by their surnames, but not having been provided with one, he had decided to slap on a "miss" in front of her name. He wouldn't want to offend anyone with such minor breaches in etiquette, especially not this enigmatic young lady.
Had he looked closer, he might have seen something more in her, something kinder, but he rarely looked past the surface, and he took her at face-value. Still, he had something here he wanted to get done. He hadn't the patience to wait any longer, so he asked in his surreptitiously casual tone, "Seen anything... unusual in the lake? Like a crocodile? Or a squid?" As he said this, he leaned forward, released the branches, which smacked him on the backside. He stumbled forward and then straightened up, trying to look cool, like nothing had happened.

“Hamlet, huh.”
Lips repeated, mumbled with a slightly more relaxed tone. She read Hamlet and yes, there was an Ophelia in there.
The red-haired boy even complimented the name, resulting in a partial tint to the girl’s pale cheeks, which she tried hiding by looking to another direction.
The word “miss” cought the ear’s attention, since the tomboyish girl was nowhere near a lady. But it seemed to be a habit of his, so she shrugged it of with a tiny smirk.
Then a rather unfortunate moment took place.
Hands moved branches, back got hit with slight pain, the boy confusingly stumbled in front of her, a quiet giggle escaped her mouth before teeth bit lips with emberassment.
He proceeded talking though, full of hope, asking for strange sights in the lake. He seemed to loose his patience, the eagerness probably got the best of the boy, gray-blue orbs shining with hope.
“Hate to burst your bubble, but...the only thing on my drawing are waves.”
No, she hadn’t seen any unusual things yet. Maybe she will. The Griffindor boy came across as a creature enthusiast, which sparked Ophelia’s interests. She indeed liked animals herself, maybe this boy wasn’t so bad after all.
Well, at least for now his presence didn’t appear to bother her.

Disappointed, his backside still stinging from the sharp whack he had gotten from the boughs of the bush, Tremaine collapsed next to Ophelia. He didn't think about whether or not this would make her uncomfortable. They had, after all, initiated a conversation, and Tremaine was generally oblivious to whether or not Ophelia was interested in continuing it.
He pulled his wand out of his back pocket, twirling it round and round in his fingers as he gave himself some time to recover from that embarrassing blunder and to wonder where this supposedly existent giant squid might be. Sparks flew from the wand-tip and Tremaine stopped, not wanting to end up messing up yet again.
"Do you know what's down there?" he asked after about a minute, gesturing to the lake, his wand held loosely in his hand. His voice was excited again, as it always was when he go to share his knowledge and experiences with others. "It's a giant squid - Architeuthis." He couldn't help showing off a bit of his academic prowess, even if it was, as this tidbit of information was, relevant only to the muggles and muggle-born of the world. "Imagine seeing a giant squid. A real, live giant squid." And now he was a roll again, having forgotten the recent embarrassment he felt. "I think I'd like to ride one."
Ophelia felt oddly easy to talk to. Maybe because she just listened, and she didn't try to one-up Tremaine like so many of his fellow Gryffindor first years. Maybe because she was a quiet, patient-looking Hufflepuff, and he didn't have to prove anything to her. He couldn't help showing off - that was his nature - but he didn't feel that urgent, nagging need to make a spectacular first impression on her like he did with so many others.

Expecting the boy’s disappointment, the collapse surprised her for only a second or two before legs crouched, body bending as she sat back into the tree’s hug.
A moment of silence surfaced beetween the pair, which didn’t bother Ophelia, body beggining to feel more relaxed, face forming a little less intimidating features. The wind was still blowing ever so often, her long ponytail waved as if it was a flag, hand reached to move the few of escaping strands off her face. It happened quite often, long hair is a tricky thing to own, yet she liked it, keeping it long, like her mother used to. The woman’s locks were like snow, a partial gene which was visible on parts of Ophelia’s hair. She missed her mother, wishing she wouldn’t have been gone so soon.
Her dreaming was broken by excited words. Gryffindor spoke again, starting a conversation about squids.
Rather interested, blue eyes showed a warmer tone as they observed the boy’s lips, who appeared to be wanting to share some of his knowlage about squids and the Great Lake.
“Cool.”
She listened with ease, head leaning backwards into the bark. She could sense the passion in his voice, even the squid riding part, which seemed rather semi-realistic, sounded splendid coming from the his words.
“Man, we really do need to find the squid now, huh?”
She mumbled in a mockyingly annoyed tone, not noticing she used the word “we”.

Tremaine was pleased to see that Ophelia seemed at least vaguely interested in his description of the underwater monstrosity. He watched as her mouth formulated a phrase, eleven words long. The reaction to her statement was immediate. Disregarding any inflection or tone that had been applied to the statement, Tremaine perked up like a dog about to be taken for a walk. His eyes shone and his wand fell from his hand into the grass below. "You mean it?" he said breathlessly, his usual overactive mind already thinking over plans for finding the giant squid.
He didn't wait for an answer before hopping right onto his feet. Heck, this girl wasn't too bad. She looked a little frightening, and she was a bit closed off, but she did want to go hunt down a giant squid with him. Which couldn't be said of every student in this school, who would either be afraid of disinterested.
Tremaine leaned forward to snatch his wand from the ground, missed, and tumbled forward onto the grass, rolling over to land spread-eagle on the ground. He wasn't sure whether to blush or laugh, so he did both just for good measure. Scrambling back to his knees, he picked up his wand, gave it a quick once-over for any damage, and sprang back to his feet.
"Where should we start?" he asked, looking around as if they might find some clue just lying about.
