Landon wasn't quite sure how he'd ended up out on the grounds, throwing an American football up in the air and then catching it. He wasn't quite sure why he wasn't causing trouble with his friends, either.
But yet, there he was, leaning against a tree cooly while he messed around with the football. The jock energy was practically radiating from him, wearing a Banchory Bangers quidditch tee (a little Scottish boy needed to have some Scot pride) and some Nike shorts and shoes. His dark brown hair was messy as per usual, and playful brown eyes were focused on the object in his hands.
He noticed a girl, with blonde hair in a seemingly complex braid (though you couldn't say the Riley boy had much experience in braids) and bright blue eyes that you could just about see from a kilometer away. She was quite pretty, and Landon's first instinct of being the trouble-making boy he was made him tussle his hair casually and make himself presentable real fast. After he had done a satisfactory job, he went back to tossing the ball up and down, hoping he looked casual enough.

Liliafix sat on the ground, reading, of course. She wasn’t completely invested in her book, however. She was distracted by the ‘Thwap. Thwap. Thwap.’ A boy was behind her, messing around with a football. She snuck a glance at the boy. He had dark, messy hair. This must be that Landon Riley… Liliafix had heard about this boy, how he often caused mischief and stirred up trouble. Her fellow Ravenclaws mostly spoke of him in annoyed, sarcastic tones. But Liliafix was not the kind of person to judge someone based on rumors.
Nevertheless, the thwap-ing was kind of getting on her nerves. Liliafix just tried to ignore it. She flipped the page to her book and found one of her homework assignments. “That’s where my Potions homework went.” she thought to herself. Liliafix enjoyed her schoolwork, but wasn’t very organized. Just as she was reaching for the parchment, a gust of wind tugged it out of her hands. She scrambled after it, until it landed flat on the boy’s face. A bit of her tingled with worry. Would he rip it up? Push it away? Steal it and copy it? Liliafix had no idea. But she worked up her courage and spoke with nothing more than a murmur. “Um- excuse me, but um- that’s mine, sorry.” She sheepishly blushed, the wind blowing tufts of hair into her face.

Landon had been playing with the football one second and then been smacked in the face by some runaway papers the next. Looking around to see where the parchment had come from, he saw the girl from before with her braid approaching him, looking quite flustered.
Normally Landon would have made a sarcastic comment, but something about the girl stopped him. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was messing with his head.
"Oh no, you're fine. Here, let me help you gather it," he said as he picked up the scattered pieces of what seemed to be a potions assignment. It was quite neat, or at least tidier than anything Landon had ever done, and the answers seemed similar to the ones he had found for the assignment. She was a first year, then, seeing as they had the same lesson, and a Ravenclaw at that. The name on the paper said Liliafix, quite a unique and pretty name, Landon admitted to himself.
"Here you go, try not to let 'em loose again," Landon joked with a wink and a quiet laugh.
"I'm Landon, by the way. Nice to meet you."
He handed the stack of papers back to the blue-eyed girl gently.
Sorry for the late response!

Liliafix gratefully took the papers back. “Thanks you.” Thanks you? What? Liliafix cringed at the her thoughts.”Um- I’m Liliafix Tinderly. It’s nice to meet you, too.” she replied, her voice now growing to a more normal, but still slightly staggered tone. Liliafix certainly had misjudged the boy. Yes, he was quite… Liliafix puzzled over the right word. Jokester? Harlequin? No… Clownish? She gave up, this boy seemed well-meaning, anyway. Liliafix was not into boys, and didn’t even like to read romance books, but she had to admit, he was quite good-looking. Liliafix was very flustered. All she really wanted to do was leave the grounds and hide in her dormitory at once. But she knew that would be not only super awkward, but very rude. “So-uh- what is that type of ball?” She thought that he was using a sphere football, but the ball he had was prolate spheroid, carob brown, with white laces. “Is it used in Quidditch?” she asked. Liliafix knew nearly nothing about Quidditch, only that it was played on brooms. Remembering the last time she had mentioned Quidditch, when she had thought it was a board game, Liliafix was slightly worried to see the boy’s reaction. She was quite surprised how self-conscious she was being. She tried to fix her hair that was pulling out of her braid, but the wind that was turning it into a tangled mess was not helping. She knew it was hopeless, and simply waited for the boy, wondering why she was so bad at small talk.
