Summer Camp Flood Welcoming Bonfire

TIME: 7:04 PM, July 1st.
Staged before venturing to the cabins.
Cabins and their assigned students will be announced at the conclusion of the Welcoming Fire. As of now each student is unaware of their placement.

In the same place as the BlossomFest Bonfire took place, another one was ablaze, giant in size compared to the size of the first and now-second years. The bonfire stood just a few inches taller than Leonie Scheinberg herself, in her high-heeled boots. A signature look was something that Leonie didn't think she had, but apparently she did. She didn't pay it mind though, finding it a stupid thing to pay attention to. She couldn't care any less about the way that she looked.

She pushed a piece of white-blonde hair behind her ear, the ends brushing against her shoulder. She had ditched her normal long-sleeve for an off-the-shoulder tee shirt. It was humid out, and there was no way in hell that she was going to make herself suffer in such weather. Black still, regardless, was a warm colour that soaked up light, but people were crazy if they thought she would give that up.

Benches littered the area around the bonfire, creating enough seating places for those who wished to sit. People were free to bring blankets with their belongings, as everyone had yet to settle into their cabins. Once the bonfire came to a close, they would venture off to the cabins that were further off in the distance, closer to the lake and forest.

For now, the professors would wait for the students to begin arriving, of their own accord.

Adelaide missed the Blossomfest bonfire. And so she was happy she got another chance to revel in a fire at dusk. Night was better for her. Although she enjoyed light and the life it brang, the sun did not hold as much love for her as she for it. But now, fire stood in the place of the sun and night rolled through the grounds of the castle, welcomed by the Dhampir.

She knew the names of the children assigned to her cabin, though since they were all, technically, second years, she had not had any on her classes. Therefore she only knew a couple by sight. She would try and talk with the other teachers before separating off to the cabin so she could identity and spy on the little things beforehand.

For now though she just arrived, before the students and some of the teachers. She walked over to one of the Professors already there, Leonie Scheinberg, the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, one very becoming of the title. The bonfire was already warring and Ayers smiled at the site.

"You've done amazingly Leonie. She praised. The Runes Professor was still new to the school and still wished to get more aquainted with her co-workers. "We have to much in store for these campers this summer, I'm so excited to play out what we've come up with.

Her poor parents. They wanted Syrah home. This was her first year at Hogwarts and therefore her first year away from her family. She missed them, yes, but this camp may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, at least the things she will learn and experiences she will have would be. Her parents understood that, which is why they allowed her to stay, slightly dissapointedly, of course.

There was a bonfire to kick off the summer. Very similiar to the Blossomfest one. She loved bonfires and therefore was just as excited. But mainly she was more looking forward to getting to her cabin. She didn't know yet whose cabin she would be in, but she had some.hopes she dared not to speak, in case she was wrong and got too dissapointed.

But for now she arrived to the bonfire and began to wander around. She was hungry and hoped there would be food, or marshmallows like last time. She didn't see any yet, maybe they would come out soon, she was a bit early. For now she sat on one of the benches that looked toward the fire, and gazed into it. She looked around every once in a while, looking for someone she knew or someone from her cabin to speak with and kill the time.

Alexx was alone, assuming any friends she had that were here would catch up to her later. She saw the roaring fire in the distance, sort of a haze until she put her glasses back on. It had taken her forever and a day to figure out how to fix them, but she was glad when she did.

The idea of a welcoming bonfire seemed nice, and sort of peaceful. She was also glad when she saw that she was only the second student to arrive. The heard of loud cliques were distances away, giving her a moment to relax by the fire. She wondered silently how many of her friends had signed up for this camp. She knew Mia was here, as they were in a cabin together, but she was just about the only person she knew here so far. That was, aside from Isabella, who she had introduced herself to earlier. Other than that, she knew almost no one personally.

Secretly, she hoped that no one that she had already had an unfortunate encounter with had come, Aurelia and Lilith being the main two to come to mind. Although they seemed to have resolved the issue, she didn't want to take her chances. Not for a while, anyway. She was tired of arguing and fighting for now. This was summer, her time to relax and hang out with whatever friends she may make.

So, she took a seat alone, for now, waiting to see if anyone might stumble upon the blonde girl and strike up a conversation.

Oliver hadn't attended the Blossomfest Bonfire. In fact, he didn't attend the event at all. He didn't really like the idea of it all, choosing to spend the time alone, mostly naked in the Ravenclaw common room with lots of chocolate and a book to read. He knew everyone was busy and he wouldn't get such solitude for awhile. As for this camping trip, Oliver had always wanted to go camping and he couldn't contain his excitement on how happy he was to be here. For the first hour, his eyes were watery with the joy of it all. He released squeals randomly as he smiled, trying to absorb it all and his body pushing out the excess happiness via his vocal chords.
Oliver's father didn't mind the extra month. He was working anyway and Oliver would just be sitting home alone this summer, per usual. Oliver decided to sit in front of the fire and stare into the flames, a smile on his face. He looked around at the other kids. Most of them seemed to have grouped up and conversed easily. Oliver wasn't near a mood where he could dawn on why he had few friends.

His tummy grumbled.

He looked around for weiners. He always roasted weiners over bonfires with his aunt and cousin. His mouth was watering, oh no, some drool. Oliver's arm rapidly lifted and he wiped his lip. He sighed, no weiners, not yet anyway. He swayed back and forth, content with just the situation he was in.
He wore a white t-shirt, light blue denim shorts and black hi-top converse.

He used the excuse of trying to make more friends, but Hengist's real motivation to being at summer camp was to catch up on work he was behind on. Sure, he would also like to have gone home to see his parents, and more especially his sister, but he was racked with guilt about what to tell her. He knew she would never be able to attend Hogwarts. He felt so much remorse that she would never experience what the rest of his family had be able to and felt like telling her about it would be like salt in the wound for her. Maybe that was his real reason and everything else was just excuses to make himself feel better. Nevertheless, he was here, so he figured he may as well embrace it and make the most of it. And if nothing else, if the homesickness became too much for him to bear, he knew he'd be allowed to go home if he liked. For right now, though, he was content enough with his decision.

Walking down to where the cabins where set up, Hengist realized that this was actually the first time he'd ever been camping before. Not that the students were 'roughing it' by any means, the cabins were a short walk away from the castle and there were washrooms just beside the lake next to where the cabins were set up. The bonfire was off to the opposite direction of the lake, but not very far. Hengist began walking toward the towering fire, curious about what else might be going on there. Also, he was hoping there would be something to snack on. Perhaps he would even be able to socialize a little, but he wasn't counting on it.

Delilah also hadn't attended the Blossomfest Bonfire, instead deciding to sit in the library as usual, she wasn't the biggest fan of bonfires because she got warm really easily, so quite often bonfires would just make her sweat immediately. However, she didn't want to be by herself, so she attended this one. She wondered up to the area where it was happening at with a smile, Delilah's default was happy, so unless somebody had changed her mood, she automatically had a smile on her face.

She couldn't help but miss her Granny, she had sent an owl to her explaining that she would be home as soon a possible but she was enjoying the camp already, despite it only being the first day. She saw a few other students there and a couple professors but Delilah approached none of them, instead deciding to sit on one of the benches, preferably one of the further away ones because she was already starting to feel the heat on her arms a bit. Her arms were exposed as she was wearing a dark blue tank top and a pair of skinny jeans, purple slip-ons on her feet.

She had brought a small bag with her, a book inside, specifically her old tatty version of the tales of Peter Rabbit, her favourite book. Although it was a little kids book Delilah loved it because she had many memories of being read this book, so she took it with her to most places. It was more of a sentimental love for the book, rather than an actual love for the story, and rabbits are cute, who doesn't love rabbits?

Amanda let the cool night air blow across her face. She was extremely excited for camp, even though she somewhat missed her family. But Hogwarts summer camp was an opportunity that she wouldn’t miss for the world. Amanda had changed into a tee shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes earlier, with a light jacket over her shirt. Her backpack was slung over one shoulder. It was summer now, and that meant hot weather.

Amanda pulled her flashlight out of her jacket pocket and clicked it on. She swung the light around and began walking towards the bonfire. She hadn’t gone to the Blossomfest bonfire, so she was excited to finally get to attend one. Amanda swatted a mosquito away. She then slapped her forehead, remembering the bug spray tucked away in her backpack. She slung her backpack off her shoulder and zipped it open. Amanda pulled out the bug spray and applied it, making sure every patch of bare skin was covered. She stuck the spray back in her backpack and put it back on. Amanda began walking towards the bonfire for the second time, but a little faster this time. When she arrived, she turned off her flashlight and shoved it back in her pocket. There were several other students there besides her. Amanda made her way over to a bench and sat down, hoping to spot some of her friends.

In a distance, Alaska spotted a bright spot of light. It was hard to make out what it was so far away, however, the closer she came, the more clearer it was. She dragged her luggage and dropped it off along with the other piles of luggages. The bonfire was even larger in person. It’s unpredicted movement frightened Alaska a little. She was used to her cozy fireplace back at home, but this was a whole other monster. She decided to stay in the outskirts of the area, far away from the fire. Besides, it was too hot to get close to the bonfire anyway. The night was young, and the horizon was still a mix between tangerine and violet. Alaska lied down in a soft patch of grass and stared at the zenith. There was no sight of clouds, and faint speckles of stars were gradually becoming visible. Her position was at an angle so that if she brought her chin down, she could view the bonfire as well.

The loud crackling sound made by the fire was soon overwhelmed by the youthful screams and cheers of the campers pouring out of their cabins. Alaska was glad she found a spot away from all the noise. She enjoyed the space, as always. But there was always something in her that yearned for attention. She secretly hoped someone, anyone, would come over and pay her some company.

Summer Camp Flood Welcoming Bonfire
To someone who had spent the majority of their life doing 'posh' things, a bonfire seemed like a cool, fictional thing that only happened in muggle movies to woodsy kids. To be perfectly honest, this entire 'camping' thing felt like that - it gave Max a kind of weird nostalgia that he couldn't explain because he'd never done something like this before. The novelty would likely wear off in a few days, but for now he wanted to do as much as he could possibly could to keep that dreamy feeling alive.

Sticking his hands into the pockets of stiffly starched shorts, he ventured down the path to the fire, following the scent of wood-smoke and the healthy orange glow coming from the center of the grounds. There was already a rapidly growing crowd here, but Max was content to just get near to where the smoke was billowing up, sending sparks crackling into the night sky and partially obscuring the stars. He got close enough so that the air was thick with it where he stood, the warmth burning his eyes to tears but at least staving off the scores of bugs that were going to eat everyone alive.

"Wildlife," he coughed, waving a hand past his face with a small laugh. Living near a lake had made him used to clouds of bugs that liked to breed in the water. "Gotta love it." Yep, camping and bonfires would be fun, but despite being a 'posh' boy, he was under no illusions - he'd come out of this with hundreds of bug bites and possibly allergic reactions to some horrible plant living around the area. But it was the experience that counted.

"There’s something brittle in me that will break before it bends."
