After Classes
Katrina had been really busy since school started. Between the harder workload of being a first year to the fact that her whole life had changed with the start of school, there hadn't been much time Katrina had to herself to just think.

For the first time in a while, Katrina realized that she had nothing to do. So what did she do? Go outside to go for a jog and tire herself out of course. It was an average day and Katrina was in her Gryffindor sweatshirt and jean leggings, both were new which helped her inward self-esteem more than she would have liked.

"Is it true that you punched someone and kidnapped your parents?"

That was Liam's voice, Katrina would recognize it anywhere. However, she didn't know what he was talking about or who he was talking to. Liam had already gotten himself into a group of boys that were pranking each other and a few other people, but Katrina hadn't heard him go up and be so bold… and stupid. She wanted to see what that was all about and drag him out of whatever situation he had gotten himself into without making someone mad. Besides, since when did he go around accusing people of random things?

Katrina walked off the path and crested a small grassy hill. There was Liam, standing there with an arrogant pose. But the second person was what came more of a shock to Katrina. Beckett. They didn't have a great past together and Katrina had hoped that they could make it through the year without something else happening. It seemed that wasn't the case.

The third year hesitated for a moment. There was a chance that Liam could get himself out of this alone. And, Katrina didn't want to admit that she was still a bit afraid of Beckett. Being unconscious wasn't something she'd care to repeat after all. Come on Liam, just step away…

Ana sat with her back pressed up against a tree, her school bag open next to her, trying to focus on a homework assignment. She was still dressed in her robes, as she failed to see the point of going up to her room and changing for the afternoon when her school robes were perfectly suitable. Her hair was in a tousled ponytail that brushed against her neck when the wind blew. Her eye makeup was dark but fairly minimal.

She chewed her lip absently as she worked on her History of Magic essay. She wasn't sure she actually even remotely cared how the Goblin Uprising or Rebellion or whatever affected anything, but it was something that she could devout all of her energy towards that wasn't crying or punching people, so she would roll with it. She wasn't happy or even peaceful, but she wasn't angry or sad either, which was a deviation from the past several months. So, of course, she had to be interrupted from that. Some stupid first year thought that she was clearly asking to be approached. She shot him a death glare, but that didn't stop him from asking her some spectacularly offensive questions. It was like he was begging to have Ana beat the crap out of him.

"I don't know, is it true I know an Unforgivable Curse?" Ana snapped, rising and pulling out her wand and pointing it at her unwanted company. The rumors were getting even more insane, and she had heard the one about her supposedly knowing all of the Unforgivable curses far more than she really ought to have. If any of the rumors were even remotely true, did people honestly think she would be anywhere other than jail, much less a school full of possible victims? The thing was nobody cared if things were true, they just cared if they sounded interesting for supposedly knowing something about a complete stranger. Ana was done with all of it. It was hard enough to mourn her mother and deal with the implications of her father's subsequent arrest, the last thing she needed was to deal with the musings of bored fools.

Katrina's moment of indecision was caught short by Beckett's threat and the drawing of her wand. Protecting her brother hadn't been something Katrina had, had to do in years, it felt unfamiliar. There was this stubbornness and lack of fear that surged in Katrina and had her walking over to interfere with what was about to go down.

Katrina put herself between Beckett and Liam, facing her brother with a motherly glare in her eyes, "Go back to your dorm. You had better hope I don't find you while I'm still mad," There was submissiveness in Liam's eyes before she had even finished. Being to authoritarian felt different and strange, but there wasn't time to reflect on her emotions while a rightfully worked up Beckett stood with her wand out.

As soon as Liam made it clear he was indeed heeding Katrina's words, she turned back to Beckett. It was only when she checked for her own wand that she realized it was in her recently changed school uniform. Katrina was defenseless against Beckett. It would be weak and not portray any message to walk away like she so wanted to right at this moment. Instead, she had to make her stand.

"So, not only is hexing people to unconsciousness okay, but threatening hot-headed first years too?" Katrina said with an air of cautious arrogance. No one threatened her brother without hearing from her.

Ana rolled her eyes exaggeratedly at the crybaby's intervention. First years, in general, were targets for hexes for no other reason than they were the youngest and thus the lowest in the Hogwarts pecking order. "As if you wouldn't have done the same, were you remotely competent at magic," Ana snapped. The ginger checked herself for something. It took a moment for Ana to ascertain exactly what, as she came up empty-handed. A smirk twisted her lips as she realized the girl was wandless. Perfect.

Ana wasn't completely without honor, she wasn't going to hex someone who was defenseless. Mind you, if she was losing a fight, she would have no issue doing so, but for the moment, she was certain she could beat this girl easily without magic. Anyway, she had already proven she was vastly magically superior to her, so that would be redundant. "Looking for something? Don't worry a single woefully dry hair on your poorly styled head," she said, her tone mock sweet. Without her body language changing a bit, she threw a hard punch with her free hand.

She hated herself for doing it, physical violence was never her style, but it felt so good. She would regret this later, but for now, she was going to let it happen. It was the only chance she had to hit someone, even if it wasn't who she truly wanted to hit. These days, she alternated between being hopelessly heartbroken to blindly angry, with very little in between. She tried to keep busy and to herself, but it wasn't going well. There was a finite number of classes and homework assignments she could focus on, even with her new third year electives.

"How's that for a threat?" Ana hissed, her knuckles stinging. There was a twisty part of her stomach, and already she wished she hadn't done that. She didn't even have the excuse she had had the past few people she had punched - she wasn't more angry than normal and she had had her wand on her. She hadn't even been particularly threatened. She had just chosen to hit Kat.

Katrina didn't really know what to expect. She had, after all, just stepped between an angry third year and her prey. Beckett made a snarky comment about her hair and Katrina almost smiled-- almost-- she knew better than to. It was like Beckett thought she cared about her hair, or anything. At this moment, the only thing that Katrina really cared about was protecting her brother.

There was no warning. None at all. One minute, Katrina was debating what she was going to reply with and the next she was reeling back clutching her stomach. Katrina had never actually been full-on punched before. Sure, she had stepped between kids bullying her brother, but they had never actually punched, instead they had said a couple rude comments and left, a few times she had been hit, but it was never full on with all of their strength. But this was sickening, between the pain and the indifferent look on Beckett's face.

Katrina was quick to cover her shock and pain, instead glaring at Beckett and saying... well, bad things in her mind. "You think you can just hit people? Who do you even think you are?!" Katrina didn't want to retaliate. She should just turn on her heel and leave. Just leave. Ignore her. But nope, instead, Katrina shoved her back, actually coming at Beckett instead of cowering away. She had, had enough of people strutting around like they were so great. She had, had enough.

Katrina doubted her strength would actually push Beckett over like she wished it would. But hopefully it would at least mess up her balance or something. Her voice was pained from the punch, but Katrina was able to hide it as anger, "I'm so sick of you thinking you can just set people on fire and mock people for no reason. Its like you actually don't have a heart," Katrina crossed her arms, protecting herself from another attack, "I wouldn't put it past you to kidnap your parents, its not like you care about anyone anyway," Katrina heard the words coming out before she could stop them. What was she thinking?!!

The truth was, she wasn't thinking. She was just trying to protect her brother.

Cuss Warning
Amara heard the fighting before she saw it before she saw the punch landing smack into the middle of a redhead's stomach. Amara knows who Anastasia is, the pureblood gossip mill is unmatched by anything, but that does not mean she forces Anastasia to talk about it before she is ready. Walking between the two red-hot Gryffindor, third-year girls, Amara holds her hand up to silence Anastasia and stares into the redhead's eyes, a navy storm fighting hazel.

She pulls out her wand, always better to be prepared, "Fuck. Off. Setting people on fire may not be okay, but Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus. Never tickle a sleeping dragon. Anastasia has been through more than your feeble little mind could imagine."

With a slight twitch of her wand and the muttering of the incarnation, Fumos, Amara creates a smokescreen to separate the two girls. Turning over to Anastasia, Amara takes the older girl's hand and squeezes them tightly. "Take a deep breath, fight the darkness, you are stronger and better than this. You have survived too much for the petty Hogwarts drama to be your downfall."

Amara begins to lead the leather-jacketed girl to a nearby bench, gripping her hands tightly the whole time.

Ana smirked slightly as Kit-Kat stumbled backwards. She was definitely getting better at this fighting thing. Not that that was exactly something to be proud of, but she supposed if she was goging to get into fights, she might as well be somewhat decent at it.

"I know I can just hit people. I'm Anastasia fucking Beckett and I do what I please," Ana hissed, her eyes glinting dangerously. She stumbled backward slightly when the other Gryffindor's hands made contact. The other girl's words were full of anger, but between the slight twinge of pain she heard and the fact Kat was crossing her arms to protect herself, Ana didn't think it would be overstating things too much to say that Katrina was afraid. Ana hated how that made her feel, and she hated how much she liked that feeling even more.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes at the girl's words as though her words meant nothing. However, the tightening of her jaw gave away how absolutely incensed what Katrina was saying made Ana. She knew she was anything but heartless. Part of what was torturing her was that she cared so much about her family and her friends. Caring had hurt her so much. Caring about her parents was what had made her hurt so badly in the first place, and every single other person she cared about was another round of pain as she pushed them away. She wished she was heartless. Hell, if she was heartless, her entire life would be far easier than it currently was.

"Oh, you-" Ana growled, beginning to lunge at Katrina before someone popped up between them. Some blonde stuck her hand in Ana's face and Ana had half a mind to bite it off. Who dared to behave in such a manner? Did she have no upbringing? Before Ana had time to fully react to the interruption, likely by slapping, whoever it was cast a smokescreen spell and saw fit to drag Ana away from her prey. Once Ana's vision was no longer obscured by the smoke, she ripped her hands away from whoever it was that was holding them. She saw it was Amara, so she was going to resist the impulse to beat the living shit out of her. For the moment, anyways. "If you ever lay your hands upon me again, I will remove them," Ana snapped indignantly.

As livid as she was that Amara had prevented her from finishing a fight that she was winning and had spoken of what Ana was dealing with as though she had any idea what was going on, she had to admit Amara had a point. Ana had far bigger things to deal with. Wasn't that the entire reason she was disregarding so many of the things that had seemed so important to her? Still, she was annoyed at Amara and hadn't fully ruled out hexing her into the next year.

It was clear to anyone who knew Katrina that she was not in her right mind. Not only had she fueled the fire, but she had shoved Beckett. To most people, a shove didn't mean that much, but to Katrina, it meant a whole lot more.

Becketts word fell on deaf ears. Katrina was beyond caring, she was giving in to the monster she so desperately tried to hide. Her taunts only enraged Beckett more, and a cruel part of her was enjoying it. She was retaliating for being hexed until she passed out. She was getting back for the day she had missed classes because she had been frozen under the covers. She was finally making things even, without her best friend in danger.

Beckett prepared to lunge at Katrina and she stepped to the side, already anticipating the move. However, Beckett didn't make her way all the way to Katrina, instead someone stepped between them. Someone who obviously wanted to die. Being between two enraged lions was never a good choice.

The girl pulled out her wand and defended, DEFENDED Beckett. Yeah, because Katrina 'had been through more than her feeble mind could imagine'. Katrina had lost her home. Lost her parents. Lost her best friends. Lost everything. Lost her brother for two years and now she was being told that she 'didn't understand'!? She understood full well. This girl's words only fueled Katrina's fire. She wanted to tear apart this girl for stepping between her and Beckett, and spitting out useless words and--

"You don't know what I've been through," Katrina growled. She was frightening herself. Who was this person? Growling threats? What was happening to her?

The second girl twitched her wand and muttered something Katrina couldn't quite hear. That was low. Targeting someone defenseless. But thankfully what came out of the wand wasn't Flippindo or Incendio, it was just the smokescreen. "Coward" Katrina muttered taking a few steps to the side, hopefully if another spell followed, Katrina wouldn't be where Interruption planned.

Katrina couldn't see through the smokescreen but she called out as it sounded like they were walking away, "At least my friend fought for me instead of dragging me away," The taunt was frighteningly serious. There wasn't the edge of fright or the spurt of uncertainty, there was cold hard hatred.

The third year could faintly see Interruption heading Beckett away. She was done here. A scowl was etched onto Katrina's face as she walked away. What a waste of her time. Katrina looked up to see a blur of bleached hair disappear behind the wall of the school. Katrina hissed a curse, that was Liam. It seemed he hadn't followed her instructions. Now she had to deal with explaining and justifying everything to him. Katrina strode away giving one last glare Interruption before heading back to the Study Hall, to justify herself to her brother.

Amara rolls her eyes as tomatoe hair calls her a coward, true stregth is in control, something neither of these girls have. As Anastasia threatens the blonde, she holds her hands up in a 'do not hurt me' stance.
"Do you really think this is the right way to prove that you are innocent of whatever rumor is running around now?" Amara's words have the sharpness of a knife. Amara has no idea what is going on with the Becketts, not a big concern of the Drgamaiors, but clearly something is happening that is causing people to attack Anastasia.

Brushing her hair back with her hand, Amara notices a chain tucked up Anastasia's top. Amara goes to sit down on the bench and she motions for Anastasia to join her. There is not much more to say, Amara knows better than to fill the world with empty apologies, to many empty words float through this world already, so she lets the silence cover them like a warm blanket. Picking a small wildflower below her feet, Amara spins the stem between her fingers. The pink of the flower reminds Amara of all the times she spent with her grandmother back at the Snow Court, learning about roses and how to take care of them. For the first time, Amara realizes just how dark it could be in a world without those you love.

Ana's nostrils flared at Kat's words. "Oh, there isn't always someone to drag me away, Kit-Kat," Ana shouted, not motivated enough to go finish the fight at this point. "I wouldn't sleep any time soon were I you." The redhead seemed satisfied with the fight ending, as Ana imagined someone who was losing that badly would be. With that handled, she turned back to Amara. She thought well enough of the blonde, but if she thought for a single moment that she had any right to attempt to control Ana in any way, that was about to be flipped on its head.

"What makes you think I give a shit about that?" Ana snapped at Amara. She couldn't care less about proving she was innocent. If people were honestly moronic enough to believe that Hogwarts would allow a murderer to frolic the school, then they were beyond help. Amara seemed to think that she meant well, but Ana didn't particularly appreciate her interference or her assuming to know anything about Ana's motivations and reasoning. She was angry. At herself, at her mother for dying, at her father for going to jail for it, at the world. If hitting or hexing others made her feel better for a split second, she was going to do it. Not that it particularly made her feel better, but she was bursting with anger at every moment of every day, and all it took was a small provocation for her to dive into the fiery abyss.

She crossed her arms and obstinately refused to budge from the spot Amara had dragged her to. A small part of her whispered that maybe she ought not to be so stubborn about everything, as her own stubbornness was what had gotten her disowned in the first place, and tipped the first in the set of dominos that had ended in her mother's death. "Why do you feel the need to intrude upon my life and my business?" Ana hissed. Her own aunt and uncle didn't seem to feel the need to care one way or another as to what happened to Anastasia, and she had done her best to drive away most of her friends. So why the hell had Amara decided to butt in?
