APPEARANCE

Allister is a sixteen-year-old standing at 6'3", slightly taller than average for his age. He has pasty white skin, being from the very top of the Scottish highlands, he has his doubts that the sun even exists. His eyes are a deep blue and his hair is a curly, messy brown. Anyone looking at him could clearly tell he does not spend much time grooming himself.

Allister is quiet, empathetic but capable of rather impulsive and emotionally driven decisions. A thinker of the heart over the head. He is by no means unintelligent, but will always choose what he thinks is right over what he thinks is correct morally. Despite this, he is unlikely to ever put his feelings into consideration over others. He is a fan of compromise but will not back down if he feels he or his friends are being treated unfairly. He is a big fan of music, particularly traditional Scottish tracks and modern metal. The fusion of both being his absolute favourite.

| HORNBEAM |

My own wand is made of hornbeam, and so it is with all due modesty that I state that hornbeam selects for its life mate the talented witch or wizard with a single, pure passion, which some might call obsession (though I prefer the term ‘vision’), which will almost always be realised. Hornbeam wands adapt more quickly than almost any other to their owner’s style of magic, and will become so personalised, so quickly, that other people will find them extremely difficult to use even for the most simple of spells. Hornbeam wands likewise absorb their owner’s code of honour, whatever that might be, and will refuse to perform acts – whether for good or ill – that do not tally with their master’s principles. A particularly fine-tuned and sentient wand.

| DRAGON HEARTSTRING |

As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.

The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

Born to an Aberdonian mother and a Glaswegian father Allister was forever unsure which football team he was supposed to support. His father was a Police Officer who typically worked the night shift. He and Allister would spend as much time together as they could during the weekends to make up for lost time, however, his father's general exhaustion sometimes made this difficult. The boy would eventually come to accept cancellations as the norm. He bore no ill will towards his father for it though, he was doing his best to provide.

His mother was a language teacher at the local high school specialising in German and Spanish. She taught Allister how to be conversational in both. Allister saw his mother the most out of the two, she was always around to pick him up shortly after school finished.

Allister decided to go by 'AJ' at roughly age six when his close friends got sick of having to pronounce his full name. He still prefers to go by it, and nobody calls him Allister-Jameson except his mother anymore. Referring to him as such will probably result in a wince and a polite request to simply call him 'AJ.'

AJ had no idea what the hell a "Hogwarts" was when he received his letter in the post. His parents thought he'd signed up for something strange on the internet and shredded the first letter. Out of ignorance, not spite. After that, a representative of the school by the name of Solomon Lear was dispatched to explain the situation to them. Reluctantly they agreed, as long as he was able to come home every school break.

And so, our adventure begins...
