Shae was born in Ireland. Her mother was from France and her father from England. She has a younger sister named Saoirse. Even though both parents are pure blood wizards, they decided to live in the muggle world. It was an adjustment, and it still is, but Shae and Saoirse grew up knowing many muggle ways. Because they lived in the muggle world, the Winters family did a lot of things the muggle way, but they still kept up with magical ways as well. They avoided using magic around muggles and the girls have known about magic from a young age and were taught alongside magic to avoid using it around non-magical people. When she was eight years old, she turned her class pet yellow. Shae knew it was her, because she had just been thinking that she liked yellow and how the pet should be yellow. When she got home, she cried to her parents because she was scared, since she knew she wasn't supposed to do magic, but she promised she hadn't meant to do it. They had to console her and tell her they knew she didn't mean to and that it was normal for a growing witch to accidentally use magic.
When she got her letter at 11, she knew it was coming and her parents helped her prepare for the upcoming school year.
