Background: Talis grew up in London, although his mother is from the Philippines. His father is unknown to him, having died when he was young. His mother keeps most of his information from Talis. All he knows about his father is that he wasn't completely human, although his mother is.
In his spare time before Hogwarts, Talis could often be found reading or helping his mother around the house. He especially enjoyed cooking with her. Since his father died when Talis was young, it's been him and his mother as long as he can remember, making them very close. However, she was often busy working assorted jobs to support the two of them, so any time with his mother he considered precious. Being away at Hogwarts is hard for him because he misses and worries about his mother, having left her on her own.
Since his mother is a muggle, she was overjoyed when she discovered Talis had the gift of magic. The two of them were watching TV after dinner when their landlord burst in demanding the rent that was due. His mother begged for more time since she didn't have the money and the landlord lost his temper, hitting Talis' mother. All of a sudden the man was thrown against the far wall as if he was hit by a truck. With a groan he looked up to see Talis glaring at him. He promptly ran off screaming about witchcraft and demons. Shortly after, Talis received his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts and at the behest of his mother agreed to enroll.
Up until his enrollment as Hogwarts, Talis had lived an ordinary muggle life, attending public school and playing video games. He didn't have many friends back home because he was so introverted, but he hopes to change that at his new school. Having never been far from home this new school is an adventure of its own for Talis and so far he has been astounded by the incredible castle of Hogwarts as well as the different magical aspects he has seen thus far. He was sorted into Gryffindor upon his arrival, and found himself in the Hodag Hallow dorm with the other first year boys. He has yet to start classes or make any friends, but he is eager to dive into the world of magic.
