Sebastián Cazarez was born in Spain to a small wizard family. His father was a potions master while his mother stayed home to maintain the large family greenhouse. The family business was in selling potions to shops and creating custom orders. Their popularity in Spain was not insignificant, but time changes all things. Before his only child could reach schooling age, Luis Cazarez was offered a position in London with the Ministry of Magic due to his expertise in potion making. Recovery efforts and celebrations brought a demand for both Luis and his wife to move. Business had been poor back home the last few years, so they took it as a sign to move on.



It took quite some time for the young Cazarez to learn English and adapt to new culture. A few years after moving he received a letter inviting him to Hogwarts. At first his parents were hesitant to send him to a school with such a reputation, but they eventually allowed it. Once at Hogwarts, the broken English and heavy accent certainly set him apart from his peers. It was almost snake-like in nature which even the Sorting Hat decided meant he would be Slytherin. It fit his personality as well, but he still assumed it was due to the accent.

Although not an all-star student or one who aspired to take titles such as Prefect, Sebastián did well in just about all of his classes. His third year he tried out for Slytherin's Quidditch team and took the role of Beater. He enjoyed speeding around the field with no goal other than to cause pain. It was glorious fun for the young Slytherin and he continued it up until graduation. After graduation he was offered a chance to try out for a professional team but he opted out for a different career.

Each Summer his family would return to Spain for vacations to visit the family home, explore the home country, and relax. His family had no qualms with him being Slytherin, the boy was not evil. In fact, he had grown to someone who was subtly kind when one knew what to look for inside him. His fearlessness and boldness in facing opposition almost made him seem Gryffindor in nature, but no one is truly 100% one house. At least, very few are. Many of his friends, in an unlikely mashup, had actually been Gryffindor students. Few things exemplify this part of nature more than his patronus and how he has chosen to use it. The Bull is an abused creature in his hometown and the muggles enjoy torturing them for show. Protests occur often and Sebas would participate even as a young student.



Despite being Spanish by birth, England had become a true home by the time he graduated from Hogwarts. Gringotts always kept their eyes out for talented graduates to join their curse-breaking hordes. Finding goblin metal and claiming treasures was dangerous and required skill. It was exactly what he wanted to do, allowing him to adventure and solve puzzles without being some square law enforcer. In this period of his life, lasting about 7 years, the Spaniard had grown experienced and found a partner he loved both in work and life. She was by his side in every adventure for Gringotts and they were planning to wed.

Tragedy struck on one of their jobs. The goblins failed to disclose the magic behind one of their targets and she was cursed terribly. Her mind was all-but-erased by this dark magic artifact and her sleep would be seemingly permanent. St Mungos took her in, but seemed unable to do anything for her as Dark Magic losses often couldn't be healed so easily, if at all. The work he loved, became unbearable to continue. Sebas spent months haunting the halls of St Mungos hoping for a sudden cure. He did research, talked to any healer around the world that had fame, and came up empty. She was gone, and he had to accept it.

Openings at Hogwarts for teaching appeared, nostalgia kicked in, and he applied. He wasn't sure if he would be a teacher forever, but it was a path he knew he would likely enjoy. He got the job at the school and gave it a solid effort for a couple of years. The turmoil plaguing the school saw a lot of need for ambitious leadership, which saw Sebas become even a Deputy Headmaster during such problems. This did ultimately chase him away, though it isn't clear why he left.

After a couple of years away from Hogwarts, time uncertain as to when it began, Sebastián could be found moving on to a career with the London Quidditch Stadium. His old passion for the game and his history as a cursebreaker and professor made him perfect to manage their security. Whether they needed to protect the stadium from invasion, hide it from muggles, kick out unruly fans, or create wards for events, Sebas was in charge.

The years as a Cursebreaker and time dealing with dark magic had taught the Spaniard many life lessons. He witnessed many dark artifacts, spells, and beings in his work and travels. Sebas lost a loved one, bound to St Mungos for life, to such dark magic. Yet, he recalled how many curses, jinxes, and hexes were taught and used by the good wizards of the world. What made a dark wizard, or a dark artifact? Sebas had learned it wasn't a line you crossed, but a lack of morals. Dark magic was not evil, though some spells certainly could be called evil, sure. Same could be said of charms or transfiguration spells as well though.

Dark Magic isn't Evil. Evil is Evil.

Sebas found himself understanding his wand, a dark magic focused build of sorts. He understood why he always did better with dark spells but didn't feel guilty about it. He never used it for evil. It was just another branch of magic that could be tame or dangerous just as the rest. Witches and Wizards who saw dark magic as a stain were influenced by evil wizards who pushed the limits yet are often hypocrites who forget their own usage of tame dark magic.


This new life philosophy brought Sebas to a weird position. He was connected to Hogwarts where many students studied to become Aurors, adventurers, and hearing stories of hero wizards defeating evil. Sebas wanted to be a mentor to these students, before it was too late, and they were thrown into the adult world. Some of them would listen better to their peers and to an outsider than to a professor.

A group of students and adults who could support each other much like the Order of Phoenix had done to fight Lord Voldemort was necessary. Evil often did not appear in small batches for one person to dispatch. It came as a movement, it rose from the shadows, and it often was powerful. This unbreakable bond of members would stand against it and fight together, wherever evil appeared. Thus, Sebas gave life to the Obsidian Circle. A clan of individuals bound together for this cause.

This was formed over the summer of 2023, as he was starting his new laid-back job as a security specialist. He felt under-used and wanted to find a way to make a difference in the world. The Spaniard didn't want to be known as the child of some potion makers. His family was decently recognizable, especially in Spain, and he wanted his own fame. He felt that he'd never get there running security charms and runes at a stadium. In times of trouble, heroes must rise and be ready. Voldemort wasn't defeated by a government army of wizards, but instead underground fighters. Sebas wanted to start a new generation of heroes that would be ready for any adventure that may call his name.
