Mayhaw is a member of the Hawthorn family. According to Ollivander, Hawthorn wands may be particularly suited to healing magic, but they are also adept at curses, and it has been generally observed that the hawthorn wand seems most at home with a conflicted nature, or with a witch or wizard passing through a period of turmoil. Hawthorn is not easy to master, however, and one should only ever consider placing a hawthorn wand in the hands of a witch or wizard of proven talent.

snallygaster heartstring

A wand with snallygaster heartstring is considered a jack of all trades, with a penchant for defensive spells. Curiosity still works its way into this wand, and this wand seeks an owner with matching curiosity. People with this wand core are not afraid of the spotlight, and, in fact, do not care if the world’s a stage– they are more focused on their pursuits and life’s mysteries and wonders. On the flip side, people with snallygaster heart string may be a bit too focused on the big picture and not enough on the details.

Clarissa is of average weight, but is slightly taller than her peers. Her straight hair is dark brown, her eyes hazel. She is very pale and has sharp features. Most people note that she resembles her mother more than her father.
When she isn't wearing her Ravenclaw robes, she is used to loose cotton black pants and a white button-up shirt. She owns three pairs of the same black laced shoes. She doesn't wear anything else and doesn't want to either.
Her walk is graceful, if not slightly stiff.
Clarissa doesn't necessarily dislike her appearance, but she thinks her nose is too big and her feet too small compared to the rest of her body.

Clarissa knows what is best for her: exactly the opposite of what you will tell her to do. She is arrogant and stand-off, but also goal-oriented and resourceful. She is quick-witted and is able to analyze situations very carefully, usually making thoughtful decisions.
Clarissa will find her way, or either make one, and she certainly doesn't need your help. She comes off as an insensitive person, but she would do anything for the people she loves, although she isn't quite sure who those people are. She won't easily change her mind, but it is however always happy to explore new concepts and philosophies. HISTORY

pre-hogwarts

Clarissa was born on October 23rd 2007 in a wealthy family that prides themself on their pure bloodline. Both her parents work as Mediwizards, and as an only child, Clarissa is expected to become one as well. Named after her great-grandfather Clarence and his mother Aurelia, she currently lives in the Rose Estate, the old family mansion.
Her father and mother raised her with discipline, always striving to become the best version of herself, which often led to Clarissa having to try a lot of different hobbys she didn't like (she especially hated her grandmother's weekly tea parties), and constantly being under pressure to excel at what she did. She was homeschooled by her strict grandmother and didn't usually meet other kids of her age. Her nieces and cousins were her (only) friends.
As her mother is Irish, Clarissa was raised bilingually and is now fluent in both Irish and English.
At a young age, she learned how to hide things from her parents and to act like the smart sweet girl everyone thought she was, while in reality, she dreamt of an adventurous life with new things to learn and discover around every corner. Sure, her family could probably give her anything she'd want, but the fact that they always expected this and that from her, just made the urge to do exactly the contrary too big.
It wasn't a surprise when she finally received her Hogwarts letter. Her parents were happy their daughter was finally going to become the glorious Rose witch she was born to be, and Clarissa was relieved she had finally gotten an excuse to escape the place where she was never going to be able to be herself.

Clarissa was 7 years old when one morning, while her mother was away for only a second, she tried to climb up the kitchen table and reach for the cookie jar up on the highest shelf. As she spread her arms, the jar flew up gently, hit the ceiling right above her, turned upside down and opened to let all the cookies fall right on little Clarissa's head.

THE ROSE LINEAGE

The Roses are a pure-blood magical family that goes back centuries of generations. Their favored house is predominantly Slytherin, but there have been rare cases of Ravenclaw descendants in the past. All Roses are raised with a strong preference for absolute blood purity, and their family tree is being closely curated by the oldest living members. Most Roses have lived and stayed in the Rose Estate, a big 19th century mansion, for most of their lives.
The Rose legacy almost completely consists of male descendants only, and, how old-fashioned it may be, girls are seen as inferior in terms of importance to the lineage. In the early years, inbreeding was not out of the question.

Rose heirs are expected to marry pure-bloods that are preferably of the same house (Slytherin). One of the older traditions is the buying of the wand. It is always done in the presence of the father only, no other family members are allowed to attend a Rose's wand ceremony. The reason is quite unclear, but it has been done for centuries.

Arnold Rose (°1979) - Arnold Rose is an English pure-blood Mediwizard and former Slytherin. He works at St Mungo's and isn't home often due to his irregular schedule and the magical congresses he is ought to attend. The relationship to his daughter is therefore minimal and is usually limited to a greeting and a "How are your studies going?".
Margaret Rose (°1979) - Margaret Rose, née Flanagan (Irish: Ó'Flannagáin), is, like her husband, a pure-blood Healer and Slytherin. She was, however, born and raised in Waterford, Ireland. Her parents and sister still live there, but Margaret moved to London to marry her best friend Arnold.
Clarissa is Margaret's greatest treasure, and she really wants the best for her daughter. But, she can be harsh and too demanding, which Clarissa usually can't cope. Margaret thinks the way she is raising her is fine, but she is also aware that her daughter doesn't like her as much as she'd expect.

Diana Rose (°1955) - Diana Rose, née Bradley, is a former Slytherin and housewife. She has raised Clarissa for the biggest part and is accountable for her elementary education.
