~Physical Description~

Adlai height ranges between 156cm to 158cm and weighs about 123 US pounds during her second year at hogwarts. She has deep brown almond shaped, doe like eyes that dart about as she marvels at all the magical aspects of the wizarding school and a prominently flat button nose of which she inherited from her mother. Although her hair is covered by her several fashionable headscarfs one can tell that she has dark, almost black, brown hair by looking at her messy yet well groomed eyebrows. Of course when she smiles one can not help but notice the lines of metal wire and brackets that cover her once crooked teeth.

~Voice~

Having lived in Iceland up to the age of eight and then moving to Wales, Adlai proceeds to have rather perculiar accent. It is not fully an Icelandic one but not fully a Welsh one either leaving some words for a bit difficult for the young lady to say. Overall though her voice is rather nasally and high pitched which seems to play right along with her upbeat attitude and air.

~HISTORY~

Adlai Rod was born on September 9th of 2007 in Reykjavik, Iceland!
She is the first born child of Anna and Jón Rod, a simple couple who own a small tailors shop somewhere near the coast. Adlai has two little sisters named Dorothy and Johanna. Dorothy is three years younger that Adlai while Johanna is five years younger. Adlai has had a fairly normal childhood. She attended school, participated In sports, and made friends. However, that all seemed to change when she and her family moved to Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

Adlai was introduced to a peculiar person, her great aunt Margret-Viktoria Rod, at the ripe age of eight. Soon after strange occurrences began to happen around a month later, the first notable one being when Adlai's mother had baked cookies. Adlai had wanted one before dinner and her mother had caught her trying to steal one.
While Adlai was being given a lecture about stealing, a cookie began to float around the kitchen.
Since then she’s fallen in LOVE with magic and wants nothing more than to make it an official part of her life. Her parents, Anna and Jón Rod are rather confused by magic but would gladly support the interests of their daughter in the best ways they possibly can.

Anna (Abdel Nour) Rod - Mother
(Birthday: February 19th - Currently 41 years old)
Anna grew up in Jalalabad, Aghanistan until she was about seventeen, that is when her father, Tabish Abdel Nour, received and took up a job offer in Iceland.
She is about 160 centimeters and unlike Adlai she has deep set eyes that are more of a hazel color. She has a flat button nose and from her eyebrows you can tell she has dark, almost black, brown hair. Unlike Adlai, who wears a Hijab, Anna wears a Chador.

Jón Rod - Father
(Birthday: December 7th - Currently 39 years old)
Jon was born and raised in Iceland by his parents Fjola and Isak Rod! It wasn't until his aunt, Margret-Viktoria, convinced him to move his family to Wales had he ever left Iceland.
Jon is 181cm and has almond shaped, deep brown eyes. He has a greek nose and curly, dirty blonde hair.

Dorothy Rod - Sister
(Birthday: April 13th - Currently 14 years old)
Dorothy is the second born child of Anna and Jon Rod, and is the first younger sister to Adlai Rod!
She is 152cm and has deepset, deep brown eyes. She has a turn-up and from her eyebrows you can tell that she has light brown hair. She also began to wear a Hijab last year like her older sister, Adlai.
On March 30th, 2021 Dorothy discovered her magical abilities a month before her 11th birthday.

(Birthday: July 17th - Currently 10 years old)
Johanna is the third born child of Anna and Jon Rod, and is the second younger sister to Adlai Rod!
She is 142cm tall and has almond shaped hazel eyes. She has a greek nose and sense Johanna is so young she does not wear a hijab. Thus, she has 2B dark brown curls.
It is currently unknown if Johanna is a witch like her two older sisters.

Dexter “The Rabbit” Rod -
(Birthday: May 5th - 5 years old)
The Rod families long time family pet!
Dexter is a Pygmy Rabbit of which was gifted to them by their grandfather Ísak for Dorothy’s third birthday! (They are nearing the end of their expected lifespan…)

Adlai may say your her best friend but she doesn’t mean it, because Dafina the snake is her one and only true best friend. You’re but going to have to learn to deal with it.

Margret-Viktoria, or just Margret, is the aunt of Jon Rod and is the sister of Isak Rod.
She is 160cm tall with wide set brown eyes, straight light brown hair, and a greek nose.
Marget-Viktoria is a witch and a parselmouth just like Adlai!
When Margret-Viktoria attended Hogwarts from 1952-1959 she was in house Slytherin and was also on a chaser on the Slytherin quidditch team!

Fjola is the mother of Jon and wife of Isak.
She is 154cm, wide set blue eyes, curly grey hair, and has a turn-up nose.

Isak is the father of Jon and Husband of Fjola.
He is 174cm, almond shaped deep brown eyes, and has a greek nose.

Hello everyone!

For those who do or do not know me, I am M, the writer behind Adlai Rod!
For a long time I was hoping my next post in this forum would be me announcing my return to the site after a long and spotty unannounced hiatus, however those hopes did not come to fruition. Instead I am writing this post to make the unfortunate announcement that I will be leaving the site with no plans of returning anytime soon.

If anyone has taken notice, I have not been extremely active on the site since the new year and frankly even a bit before that. This of course all due to the personal changes in my life. I am very happy to share that I started college, was hired onto my first job, have a very loving group of friends who I see regularly and a loving significant other who spoils me more than they should.
However, in order to make room for these new joys I am having to leave some joys behind, one of those joys unwittingly being H.io.

Overall H.io has been a marvelous experience and something I will never forget. During my extended period of quarantine at the height of covid it was my escape and the friends it brought me were beyond creative and true. The site allowed me to expand my own creative ability and writing portfolio all while exploring the world of a book series I've loved for so, so long.

I'd like to thank everyone for the hand they put in to make this site great and I hope one day, if and when I do return to see it thriving more then ever with great new talent and maybe even see some old faces in the crowd.

I'll miss you all, don't forget to take care of yourselves and your characters.

Adlai's Ending

For any curious soul's, once Adlai passes her OWLS and graduates from Hogwarts she goes on to become a pediatric healer of sorts, specializing in balms, spells and potions that are stable enough to treat the wounds and ailments of children.

In the year 2029, Adlai meets a young man named Daniel Maung, a British Burmese healer of sorts as well. In the year 2032 they marry and in 2034 they welcome their first and only child, a baby boy whom they name Hana Maung.

Hana also goes on to attend Hogwarts with the dream of becoming a healer just like his parents.

Adlai and Daniel both pass in the year 2104, at the ages of 97 and 98 of heart failure due to old age.
