Claire Aerwyna (ne Redwing) Greer (mother) -- Claire is an English half-blood witch, who came to Scotland to study magical plant life along the coast. She was previously sorted into Ravenclaw. Studious, but kind, she encouraged difficult questions and actively sought to involve her girls in the magical world, including taking them to Quidditch matches.

Ross James Greer (father) -- Ross is a muggle fisherman, who has lived his entire life along the Scottish waters in Fife. He takes the girls on fishing and sailing expeditions, where he is anything but a disciplinarian.

Kirsty Stornoway Greer (sister) -- Kirsty is Ruthie's younger sister, who is expected to join her at Hogwarts in a few years. The girls generally get along well, although there are some normal bouts of sibling rivalry. Kirsty is a bit more mischievous and Ruthie has taken to keeping her in line.

Darby Greer (barred owl) -- Darby is a beautiful barred owl that Claire purchased for Ruthie in her first year. She did so to congratulate the girl for making the Quidditch team, but Ruthie uses the bird more for emotional comfort, especially after the events of the Masquerade Ball. Darby's name is a reference to Darby Shaw, the protagonist in John Gresham's The Pelican Brief.

G R Y F F I N D O R

Griseldis Edelhardt (Friend and savior) -- While they originally met in the owlery, Gris saved Ru and her friends at the Masquerade Ball, and for that, she is forever in her debt. The Prefect also has a lovely owl, Crystal, who Ru hopes becomes a friend to Darby.

Jane Victoria (Hated) -- Ruthie has never met Jay formally, but she'd recognize her instantly as the girl that stabbed Jorah at the Masquerade Ball. For that crime, Ru would not be responsible for her actions should she encounter this violent girl.

Charlie Woodward (Positive Acquaintance) -- A pure Texan and an undisputed gentleman. Charlie encountered Ruthie when she fell clumsily in the courtyard. He graciously helped clean up and take care of her scrapes.

Marla Quinlan (Positive Acquaintance) -- A moment of grief at the Black Lake led these two together, and since then Ruthie has been excited to cheer for Marla in Quidditch matches and looks forward to where this friendship may go.

Anastasia Beckett (Positive Acquaintance) -- An ally in a SWAG match, Ana seems to have a lot of fire in her belly. Ruthie would like to learn from her bravery and strong spirit.

Arthur Kirkstone (Quidditch rival) -- He supports the Tornadeos. Need I say more?

Julie Shaw (Helpful friend) -- The Hufflepuff Seeker helped Ru break into the greenhouse when she burned her hand in an errand. Ru thinks she is quite nice and good finder.

Jake Morris (Positive Acquaintance) -- After flying class, Ruthie could see this young Hufflepuff was unsure and afraid. She's hoping to help him be more comfortable on a broom. He seems like a kind human being.

Saskia Nicholson (Positive Acquaintance) -- Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain. Ruthie meet her with Darby and Thora. She seems quite nice.

Nyalah Keziahis (Dorm-mate and acquaintance) -- Really quiet and awkward. Ru hopes she eventually comes out of her shell before it gets weird.

David Young (Acquaintance) -- The boy is quite talented at potions and seems sensible.

Shauna Starr (Friend, deceased) -- Shauna can be abrasive and rude, but she's grown on Ruthie considerably. Especially after the Forgetfulness Potion episode.

Jorah Moussa (Close friend, a bit complicated) -- She has developed an awkward habit of saving him from things. They attended the Masked Ball together, which resulted in Jorah's attempted kidnapping and stabbing. She feels extraordinarily guilty about this.

Dymphna Teague (Friend and mentor) -- Dymph is the older sister Ruthie never had. She was also a spectacular Keeper. Plus, after the ball, Ru feels a strong connection to the Veela.

Cecily Quinn (Friend and mentor) -- Prefect and Chaser, Cecily is a vision of what Ru could be in the future. She's quite friendly as well.

Emma Hill (Friend and mentor) -- Their Quidditch Captain, Emma is a stalwart leader. Ruthie has admired how she has made tough decisions and always put the team first. Emma has become a great friend over the season, and Ru enjoys her company and wisdom.

Natalia Draig (Neutral Acquaintance) -- Ru met Nat after falling in the water at dodgeball. She seems cool.

Lark Flaer (Close friend) -- Ravenclaw's Keeper and fellow sufferer of the ball. With their shared experiences, they have shared a strong emotional bond and helped each other through trauma. Ru trusts her greatly and is proud to call Lark her best friend. They often enjoy training for Quidditch together.

Adam Harringtom (Positive Acquaintance and savior) -- Ravenclaw's Reserve Beater, who stopped Ruthie's botched charm at the ball and carried Jorah out to safety. Ruthie owes him a great deal. She also thinks he is a generally cool guy.

Pericles Dralt (Neutral Acquaintance) -- A fellow Ravenclaw Ru first encountered at Gris' leaf clearing errand, Peri seems bright if a bit odd. She's hoping he'll join her as Vice President for Frog Choir as she'd heard he is very musical.

Alan Noble (Positive Acquaintance) -- First encountered in the common room, Alan seems like a good person and she enjoys his company (also the pumpkin pasties his nan sends). He's become second-string Keeper for the team, and they share a mutual friend, Griseldis Edelhardt.

S L Y T H E R I N

Thora Larkston (Close Friend and savior) -- Thora's spectacular use of charms saved Dymph and Jorah at the Masquerade Ball. Needless to say, she gets major points for saving their lives. While a bit quiet, Thora has always come to Ruthie's aid, including when she was having a breakdown at a SWAG match, and she's generally an awesome person.

Bridget Collins (Positive Acquaintance) -- Bridget came across Ru when she was hiding in the broom shed. Bridget was empathetic and didn't judge Ruthie's ball experiences. Ruthie thinks Bridget is a good person and would like to know her more.

Erik Tharaldson (Negative Acquaintance) -- Last SWAG match, Erik displayed a certain unearned arrogance and bullying attitude toward their team. Ruthie called him out on it, and he knocked shoulders with her and called her a "little girl." She does not like him.

Ruby Cazares (Neutral Acquaintance) -- Seems polite. Has a nice cat. Hit Thora with a snowball though, which wasn't very nice.

Morfran Griffith (positive acquaintance) -- Professor Griffith graciously agreed to conduct the Frog Choir! As Choir President, Ru is glad that he did and is looking forward to working with him, as well as eventually joining his class once third year rolls around.

Olphie Bercegeay (positive acquaintance) -- Ruthie is impressed with the professor's past career in Quidditch. She also took her up on an offer for tea.
